I find it concerning that Thomas said he picked the Defender because he knew the Alfa would break down all the time. Isn’t that like picking the IX because it’s not as ugly as a Pontiac Aztec?
Yup, he'd better fit a tow bar to the Porsche so it can tow the Alfa when the Defender is inevitably in the workshop. Much as I love the way JLR products look and feel - they are all without exception hot garbage when it comes to reliability, and thus I would never personally want to own one, ESPECIALLY as a daily.

@@brsysyrian4516 I live in Los Angeles and commute over Mulholland Dr. so I have some twisties every day! I daily my 05 Ranger with 5 speed and have more fun than issues!
That’s just not true for the new defenders. Especially the I6 Diesels just run. Don’t know where the rumour comes from that they’re not reliable. We’ve driven ours like 30k km in 8 months and there have been no issues at all
@@vincentrenevier Imagine saying that a brand new car with only 30k km (18.6k miles) is reliable because it hasn't had problems yet. If I bought a car that started having problems that early, I'd be furious. "Reliable" usually applies to manufacturers that survive 100k miles (160k km) consistently with just regular maintenance. Range Rovers ain't it, never have, and likely never will.
@@eksentrysyti alright I get it, just speaking from my experience so far. Its just that with many manufacturers today you already have issues in the first 10-50k km, mainly software wise. So at least that did not happen. I'll keep you posted when or if we reach the 100k km without any issues ;)
JLR products are reasonably reliable nowadays... just so long as the furthest off road they go, is up the owner's driveway. In Australia, we have a saying... If you want to go to the outback, take a Land Rover. If you want to get home again, take a LandCruiser. But to be fair, I have a V8 GXL LandCruiser ute (pickup for 'mericans) and although it'll go almost anywhere while towing a trailer and it's the most capable 4x4 I've ever driven (and I've driven a lot)... it's one hell of a compromised thing. Also, even though I got mine cheap(ish), it's a very expensive thing to have if you don't use it as a daily. And I don't use it as a daily. You only daily a 70 series because you have a job that no other vehicle can handle. And reliability wise, the Cruiser hasn't been perfect. It's required both turbos, a very expensive fuel pump, and the gearbox needed a rebuild under warranty. It had lived a pretty hard working life before me though and had 180,000ks on it.

Super - Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta

great choices, especially for classic
Classic is a W
Amazing choices, i'd live a happy life with these ones
Your first two choices is exactly what I’d have and that’s it 😊
You and a lot of fellas are cheating with this Porsches, but ok....
Love this Episode. Have played this game many times with my car enthusiast friends.
Daily - Rivian R1S (because the Defender 110 doesnt come in EV)
Sports - Aston Martin Vantage
Super - Ferrari SF90 Stradale
Classic - Citroen SM
This is a very accurate list
I love SM
Daily - BMW F90 M5
Sports - Lotus Emira
Super - Lexus LFA
Classic - Porsche 911 Turbo 930
Very similar options for me, except one of the fancy EV trucks for my daily since I do actually need to be able to put stuff in a bed on the regular.
This is tough, but I think my list would go like this:
Daily- Audi RS6 Performance
Sports Car- Lotus Emira (manual)
Super Car- Koenigsegg CCX
Classic- Nissan 240Z (S30) with an RB26 conversion
Solid choices but the Koenigsegg would be way over $1 million
Fairlady Z for the win! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
@@Jupiterider1 Good point, I still want one though lol
No restomods (engine swaps)
@@plus790 Awwwwwwww 😞
would have liked to see a “utility” category. because the daily choice shouldn’t have to be influenced by “what if” scenarios
Yeah having no offroader category but separate categories for sports and supercars is kinda silly lol. I just use my sports car slot for a car that can be tuned for track use or street driving and used the supercar slot on a classic supercar for the vibes. If there was a utility / offroad slot I would've added a new Ford Bronco 2 door stickshift with a 5.0 swap since there's a stupid high dollar limit I'm sure someone could fabricate that.
I agree that the daily shouldn't have been influenced by "what if". That's what rentals are for.
Daily - Volvo EX30 - Smallish, hatchback practicality, non-flashy, minimal/modern styling, EV, good commuter car for urban/suburban settings
Sports Car - Aston Martin DBS - Modern classic, GT car
Supercar - Lamborghini Murcielago - Still somewhat crazy, yet restrained in its styling compared to modern lambos.
Classic - 1960s specifically split window Corvette - One of the most beautiful cars ever made.
It's been amazing seeing you two grow as friends, colleagues, presenters. It's funny looking back remembering how I was unsure about James at first. Now, he's so essential, hilarious, insightful, and has really owned his role. Your channels only exist because both of you and your entertaining dynamic. James is funny as shit. 3 million subs will be here in no time :)
I could listen to these two talking all day long about anything
for the iX - install a remote inside the car that also turns on your garage lights. Then you can approach it in the dark. When you get where you're going, send other people in the car to run your errands so you don't have to get out. Problem solved!
7/8 choices were great, guys!
Daily: CTS V Wagon (manual)
Sports: Porsche 911 by Singer (manual)
Supercar: F-430 (manual)
Classic: 1965 Lincoln Continental
Very solid picks.
Agreed 👍🏽
Idk where you live but I wanna live there if you are ok with dailying a manual, thats my dream
The Singer alone would have been over the $1 million budget. But solid choices
@@brsysyrian4516 I live in Los Angeles and commute over Mulholland Dr. so I have some twisties every day! I daily my 05 Ranger with 5 speed and have more fun than issues!
I love that Thomas clowned James for the iX then chose a Defender as a daily. Gonna be in the shop daily.
Of the two, I would prefer the looks of the IX every day of the week. That Defender is Butt Ugly.
I love how they talk about a Land Rover Defender and being a reliable daily with a straight face ❤
When you only drive it for a week and give it back 😂
I've had a Defender as my daily for two years and it has been reliable!
hahaha
My picks are
Daily- Lamborghini Urus
Sports- Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Super- Porsche 918
Classic- Ford Mustang Mach 1 '69
Extra Throttle House feels like a late late conversation show shot after finishing up a bottle of whiskey, natural true hearted conversation which neither person seems to fathom the next day.
And it's awesome. I love this sort of unscripted back-and-forth banter.
I think having both of them pick cars according to a criteria that the comment section chooses would be great content
Absolutely! I want to see their 3 car dream garage, with 1 American car, 1 European car, and 1 Asian car.
Great idea, hope they do that
Like picking the best commenter's garage? I like that idea.
Agreed. Which commenter did the best!
Great video guys ! And almost all choices are valid as long as it pleases you.
Daily : Alpina B5 GT Touring
Sport : Porsche 911 S/T
Supercar : Mclaren 765LT

I like your answers, similar taste to mine. I wish we had the B5 Touring in the US. I picked the Z8 Alpina as my classic and a GT4 as my sports car.
@@phox0999 Thanks man and I like yours !
I hesitated with the Z8 but I thought I might prefer the "lightness" of the Z3.
Maybe I'll have that choice to make when I am 60 or 70 ahah...

I’d call a late model turbo s a full on super car honestly.
I also wanted to pick a 90's NSX, but wasn't sure if that would qualify as a "classic".
Would love if you guys did this on a tighter budget, like under 1 million for all 4 cars total
Seconded

Sports car: 97-01 Acura NSX
Super car: 05-06 Ford GT

m2 is a great choice
You need to put flooded F40, then maybe you will scratch the 1.5 mil 😅
Please do more of these. I know everyone has a podcast but you two should have a podcast. I'd listen to it. My list would be:
Daily: F80 M3
Sports car: R33 GTS2.5T Neo
Supercar: Viper ACR
Classic: Either Hakosuka Skyline or MK2 Celica Supra.
Although I wouldn't call it my "dream" car, that's a fantastic choice of Skyline. Finally someone else who not only likes the R33 best, but would rather a RWD over the GTRs
what is the difference between a gtst and a gts25t?
whats the difference between gtr, gtt, gtst?
My classic would be a choice between hakosuka skyline, and datsun 240z

*Edit* Based on James' definition of classic, I'm changing mine to the LFA.
Id switch the E-tron with the RS6 but thats pretty much the perfect list. Havent seen anything better within the comments 🔥
I really did think about including the M5CS as my daily or my sports car. I also thought about the 765LT but I’ve been on a waitlist for the C8 Z06 for almost 3 years now and I’m so obsessed with getting it. And it’s really about the flat-plane(corrected) N/A V8 just like both of them going for the soul of the 458. Yeah the 765LT is the better car at 10-10ths then the C8 Z06 but the Z06 would be more fun way more of the time. And I owned a 2016 GT-R and it was the greatest car I have ever owned and I regret selling it. So I gotta get another. Lastly, I need a truck as a stupid American I could survive without a truck so my daily has to be one and I considered the TRX but if I have the other cars they will provide enough fun that the 2500HD would be the better choice. All that to say I do really like your list.
@brackendouglas3433
Appreciate it. Right there with ya on the truck thing. Right now, I don't need all the space. To the point of what the boys said in the vid, some of this is subject to change. Lol.
I feel like the "classic" category needs to be pre-1990.

Classic - Ferrari 312PB (no one said it couldn't be a track day car. Also, this car has the best sounding ICE ever made. Others may sound as good, none sounds better.)

I cant get tired of listening to you guys
As a 6'4" musician, I want to hear Harrison's picks! I'd hope for a combination of head room, rearview mirrors that aren't at or below my eyes, and good audio.
Just buy a Suburban and be done with it. No one cares bud.
As a 6.5" guy I was thinking the same about Harrison's picks. I am very curious in which sporty cars he fits. As for music; when driving I don't listen to music that much, I prefer listening to the engine instead. My previous car was an old 7 series with the same stereo as the RR's of that era. But it had also a purring V8, so... My current car has an I6 so maybe I'll start listening to music in my car again. No that is reserverd for the safety of my home and concerts.
