How I retwist my locs myself/ From Interlock to twisted locs
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- I started my loc journey by interlocking my locs. Whenever I dnt feel like there's enough new growth, I rather not use the needle, but I still want my hair to look nice and neat. In this video I'm retwisting my hair with water, Jamaican black castor oil, duck clips and occasionally very very little gel.

I know this video is older. But I noticed a couple things when you were retwisting your hair. When you twisted with your right hand, you retwisted clockwise, but when you twisted with your left hand, you retwisted counter-clockwise. Since you won’t know which loc you twisted with either hand, you could retwist in the opposite direction the next time. In the long run that can cause weaknesses in your locks and trouble down the road. You want to twist them in the same direction no matter what. So you may have to consciously remember to use your dominant hand for all of your locs so that you don’t hinder the integrity of them. Hope that helps you and/or others when it comes to retwisting or palmrolling your locs.
It helped me!
Thank you. I appreciate this. I still use a loctician bc I'm only 5 most in. My goal is to one day do my own!
Just binge watching loc videos I'm 3 months into my journey and I'm loving it so much cant wait till I'm fully locked best decision ever and I'm considering interlocking because I already know my hair gonna unravel in one day with a regular palm roll
It looks amazing. Im so glad to know, that you can actually re-twist your on hair without having to use the needle. Awesome
Thank you for this , just started my dreadloc journey
I love watching retwists!
You did a great job!
Thanks gurl I didn't know you could go from interlocked to twist.🙏🙏🙏💓
FroLuV Angel you can but you shouldn’t, you are asking for thin locs
Right..Im excited to try myself!
Wow....I started mine again and my hair is the same color....your hairline is so neat with good loc spacing. Beautiful !!
Old video so I will be brief: When deciding how to maintain your hair choose a method and stick with it. If you chose to interlock then interlock, if you are palm rolling then palm roll, but do NOT go back and forth. The reason is, you can not control the amount of tension you are applying to your hair. If you palm roll you are putting tension on the hair from the OUTSIDE in. If you interlock that tension is evenly distributed in the 2 or 4 way method. When you go behind an interlocked ‘loc’ and then palm roll or twist it, the newly directed tension breaks off the hair that was previously interlocked. This is how you get thin locs. So please don’t go back and forth.
Depends on an individual's hair and how it's done. One shoe doesn't fit all. I've done both for 8+ years and my locs are just fine
This is true, I went to a loctician who did a good job but now if I want to do it myself I’ll have to retwist and I already notice the discrepancy between the interlock and retwist. I’ve had to take some down and just do two strand twists
I love your hair too!
Love the red color
Thank you for video
Been asking that question
No straight answer
I like twisting better
Your hair is beautiful !
Hi. I was wondering if you know whether interlocking affects the thickness of your locs especially if you have starter locs
Hi, your locs are beautiful. How do you get them to look uniform at the interlock and twisting join. I started my locs with coils and wanted to interlock but I'm worried my locs will look odd using the two techniques.
You make it look sooooooo easy! Looks good
Your hair is really pretty. Love the color.💕
Love it!
I’ll give you a big thumbs up 👍 great work . You’ve done very well .
Great vid , and the music was pak , was def dumb vibin
Thanks for sharing your routine ❤️🙏🏿!
Hi Kenya! I'm Delphine...I've watched a couple of your videos. One with your oldest daughters ( interloc after 2 mos.), and I just watched you do a retwist on your locs, in between interlocs, your hair and your scalps for you and your daughter look so healthy. I'm just about 3 mos into my loc journey. I feel like I'm flip flopping between loving them and wanting to keep them, and not loving them and wanting to cut them out. I started with braids. My hair is very fine, but with a very tight curl pattern. I am going through a very frizzy phase now and loose hairs not growing into the locs. I'm trying not to do too much to it, with exception of keeping it cleaned and I oil it about every other day or so. I wanted to do locs because I've always wanted them and I wanted to get them started before my grey hair started to come in, I want salt and pepper locs. My reason for msging you is that, I guess I need maybe a little encouragement and to ask if it may be that I might have waited to long to try to loc, because as I am an older woman, my hair is as well and maybe that's why I might be having these issues. I apologize for such a long comment.
@@KenyaAsIs l did do them myself. I started out with braids, after about 6wks I interlocked, that was in June. I haven't done anything but wash and keep it moisturized and oiled since then hoping it would get thicker by me not manipulating it so much. I've always been a bit of a change up queen when it comes to my hair. I think I may be just a tad bit impatient at this point.
Does it matter which way i twist i started mines 2 months ago and got them interlocked i never had a retwist before i want to do a retwist by myself in between interlocking and some of them i twist feel more comfortable going clockwise and some counter clockwise
How many locs are in your head?❤❤❤
Hi, I started interlocking , did it once n I want to retwist cus I notice it's alot thinner where I interlocked. When u start to retwist again, do u notice ur hair is thicker again?
How long it last ?
I so needed to hear that you can interlock and also twist....thank 😍...is it true that interlocked locks get lose and break easy and if that's the case what can one do to prevent such damage to the hair....
Hi from my research interlocking will only break if the roots are done too often. You need to have a good set of regrowth. A few inches at best.
I started my locs with 2strand twist interlocking. Do I have to continue interlocking are can I just go back to finger twist I don’t want to interlock no more if that makes since
@@KenyaAsIs thanks
What color is your locs. Its pretty!
Thank you ❤️ your hair is beautiful
Your locs look nice, do you usually sit under the dryer after a retwist or air dry? I'm 9 month into my loc journey and my hair is still frizzy and shrinking lol how did you deal with that stage of your locs?
@@KenyaAsIs oh okay thank you, yeah I cover my hair at night and throughout the day if I'm home, but my hair is naturally frizzy which is annoying at times lol. I just need to be patient lol. I hope you do more loc videos, they are helpful.
@@KenyaAsIs lol yeah that's true, yeah my retwist only last a few days too smh lol thanks! Your daughter's locs are nice!
Its the one finger for me...I could never..I need both hands lol
I love the color🤗
Your edges look great❤
Hi does it affect your hair when u go back and forth.. I interlock but my lactation is on vacation and I'm going on a trip and I seriously need a tightening so I was thinking of doing what you did
Do you know how many locs you have? Also how long did your retwist last? Thanks
Hiiiiii!!! Your locs are beautiful!! Do you by chance know how many locs you have?
Kenya As Is Thank you!! Your loc size and look is the goal I’m looking for.
How many locks do you have?
nice & fresh
Ok so my recent retwist was all interlocked and it’s been a month do I wait til some more new growth appears to get it retwisted because it looks good but it’s odd that mines look so good 🤣
Kenya As Is ok
I love your video's they are very informative thanks for sharing sis! Blessings to you and the family. Started my locs 2 months ago I inter locked so happy when I joined the fam 3 weeks ago.
In one session, should you roll then interlock or interlock then roll
@@KenyaAsIs thank you so much
awesome video thanks or sharing !
This was so helpful. Thank you!
Nice
How did you start locs
No eco gel.
Loving your hair sugah it looks awesome!!!
How many locs do you have?
Beautiful locs!❤️❤️❤️
I got real curly hair and I just got interlocks, I'm still think they're going to frizz up so can I retwist them if that happens.
Yes but wait at least two or three weeks to twist. You need some new growth to twist. You can also just use whatever product you twist with and put it on the loc and wrap all the frizzy stray hair around the loc. I do that when I retwist anyway.
@@TribeofDavisdogtraining Ah ok thanks, I usually let me lady retwist after 2 or 3 weeks before I got interlocks.
Gel is not good to dreadlocks because There are Dusts inside After Mostly With this gel
Castor oil has a horrible smell so I can only use it on my edges. How do u find the smell?
There is a castor oil with lavender in it
The coconut Jamaican black Castor oil smells better.
Nice loving that red.... How long have you been growing your locs?
You Locs Are Beautiful
Your locs are nice. Just wondering if interlocking causes the locs to be thinner. Will they thicken are will they continue to be that size?
They will thicken
They will nor thicken. Do not interlock it will break your hair. Constant palm roll and dedication
@@jahreign2388 mine didn't break. Probably because I've only interlocked once. Never doing it again tho
Jah Reign Not really, gotta know what you’re doing
Mine have been interlocked for 18 months and have thickened since I first got them, like with anything else, interlocking is fine as long as it's done properly and you take good care of your hair
👏🏾👏🏾
What's terrible? Lol
