I'd love it if the conference (or parts of it) were broadcasted live or even post event here on the UA-cam channel. Will that be the case?

Yes, we will either livestream or post the recordings after the fact. Still figuring that out and will make an announcement soon.

Great concept. However, will the presentations be live-streamed to enable trail runners globally to "participate"? The cost of international flights makes attending the event prohibitively expensive for those of us who were unsuccessful in the WSER lottery.

    Interesting development.
Will this be streamed for those of us not present?
(initially read that as TrailCoin and thought you’d gone all cryptocurrency on us )

Good idea. I suggest have at TRE which would be more central and less cost. Many other shoe related groups do this already. Many of the same folks needed go to TRE every year. A Wednesday is tough since most of us have other day jobs. Weekend is better otherwise it will mainly be Bay Area folks

I see the potential here. Respect for putting in the work.
My feedback is that sustainability should be a panel topic to have a dedicated space where we discuss the crucial aspect of climate change, what the trail community and industry can do etc
From a wording point of you , you emphasize "the industry" alot which is why, i think, sme people interpreted it as a pure corporate event. If that is not your intention, which your answers to other comments suggest, you should adjust that framing. Keep crushing.

I'm a bit ambivalent with TrailCon with what I heard on this conversation.
On one hand, it's great that various "competing" brands and events are coming together discussing the future of trail running. There are a lot of topics to be addressed for the growth of the sport, which could end in the Olympics in the not so far future. Seriously, it's great that people will get to discuss it.
But again from what I heard in this announcement, it sounds a bit more like TrailCorp rather than TrailCon (at least if compared to, say, Comic Con for instance, where fans are an active part of the event). Obviously, corporation, whatever their levels, are key to the growth of the sport. But essentially nothing was said about the consumer's involvement in this event or how their voice would be heard in the conversation of where the sport is going. To get the feeling that the average race-goer/trail runner will have not a voice in the discussion is a bit concerning.
I do understand that this was just a short discussion of the prologue of an event to happen, but to use DAVOS as example of what you're trying to achieve, DAVOS being a very elitist forum out there, I hope you understand my mid/back-of-the-pack concern. As you said, a big issue is currently separated online debates, which often don't lead anywhere. I wish I could attend, but living across the Pacific, it's not gonna happen.
In any case, I look forward to getting reports of what went on. Though it might sound like it, I'm not against brands getting involved in trail running, far from it. I only hope the average runner's voice will also be heard in the debates.

I had similar feelings. I'm hoping that since this is more of a soft launch, future trailcons will seek to solicit input from more participants. It seems that 95% (made up statistic) of races don't even have professional runners in attendance and the races that do have pros present, they make up a small percentage of the gathering. As for brand involvement, it seems like it could be a good thing but time will tell. It also seems like a good way for some events to be held accountable for their actions, be that positive or negative.

I mean it’s year 1, they clearly said it’s a trial run and will be bigger in 2025, and it’s free and open to the public. Seems a bit premature to say that the average runner will not have a voice.

This is exactly the feedback we need and probably fair criticism. While we did say that 2024 is meant to be more industry facing, I don’t think we did a great job of articulating the future vision, which includes more effectively engaging the broader trail community - not just the brands and industry professionals. Either way, noted and appreciate the feedback. 👍

Yeah definitely wouldn't recommend clipping the "DAVOS" comparison for any promotional shorts, talk about divisive... Other than that, good luck and look forward to hearing how it goes.

@@Freetrail glad you agree. As mentioned, I do recognize this was just a short announcement of a prologue of the real event. I do not question your integrity, DBo, from what I know of you, I’m pretty certain your heart is in the right place.
