The Olympics is a crazy tournament and doesn’t always award the best team so why not
I think the Gold Cup victory was huge for this team with so many new players, in transition, not yet super cohesive and bringing a strong sense of cohesion. Lots of musical chairs with line ups. I’m actually very happy and proud of them and can’t imagine how dangerous they will be under Emma Hayes with a settled team. Wow!
Soon Mallory and Cat Maccario will be with this team. That added to this core makes them the Olympic favorites for me

Contenders yes, favorites to win, probably not.
They have a long way to go, as they play very individually. Seems like certain players are cocky and not team orientated, which is not a good combo when wanting to dominate, like previous USWNT teams. They also got super lucky against Canada and looked tired against Mexico!
USNWT could win it but you have got the teams like Spain, England, France who look like they are a step ahead.
England didn't qualify for the Olympics. Ouch!

England don't play in the Olympics. they play as Great Britain. They mean very little in Europe due to the increase in competitions. @@davidsprenkle2641
Zero shots on target. It had me thinking they were hitting where they aimed, like polite guests or amateur golfers playing against the company boss and just losing.
France will be Olympic hosts and the team to beat, though in qualifying Spain, Germany, Australia and Japan all also looked better than US.
I really like that - in a final you want to win not play beautifully- good perspective. USWNT has a indomitable mindset.
Although finals don't matter in terms of playing aesthetics, it is recommended they work on passing cohesiveness. Their passing leaves little to be desired. Against teams with high technical ability, it can be too hard to win anything. However, I agree that in finals, what matters is winning...doesn't matter how you do it.

No. Not contenders. As mentioned here in other comments, they are not cohesive enough. They also do not have enough" world class" players in the squad. Some of the young ones might grow into that but not this year. Also Emma Hayes has never coached a National team. Totally different dynamics. Team coaches are with the players every day. National team coaches only see the players sporadically and are limited in implementing their own particular tactics. Maybe for a world cup year when the national coach is allocated more time with the players.
They have the will and desire, but the Olympics is a different ball game. They’ll go out in the first round, not ready for prime time yet.
Not with Horan in the 10, until we move away from her we won’t really be able to compete.

Spain is definitely the favorite. However, the USWNT is certainly a "contender."
Alex literally bullied Brazil 😂 her presence was known. Fox played excellent. Rodman still needs work.90% of Rodman passes went to Brazil.
Gotta say Fox is world class in her position. About Rodman, I think she misses purposeful dribbling...she needs to work out her decisions. Questions like after I dribble past this player what are my options..not just running until there is no space.
It is unfortunate that SheBelieves has two of the same teams. The first 3 SBC's had Spain, France and England.

Both the american and Brazil will struggle against the European, that final was weak.
In the first half,the women were playing scared.scared of what you might say? This women’s team are playing ball so as not to get hurt. Watch the team turn away at the last moment when there is a challenge for the ball toe to toe. Not all of the team is bravery challenged. It’s the major reason Morgan is not scoring like she used to. Morgan is afraid of a career ending injury. You can’t blame her BUT. In the 2nd half the bravery level picked up and we can all see the results!!!
The three lions are not in the Olympics this year they did not make the cut
