you brought up an issue i've experienced with this game, and that is that the ways of building up satisfaction and building up defenses don't work well together, unless you do serious terraforming.
so the game ends up always pushing you down a set path, regardless of the map, and, after figuring out this path and following it so many times, you get bored of going through the same process.
and you'd think, well just play it your way. ok, so i decide to build out my town organically, following the natural curves and elevations of the landscape, working with what i have. that gets me THAT goal, but at the expense of satisfaction and defenses. i end up with a city that fails at defending itself.
lately i've been trying to build organically AND defensively, without unnatural terraforming, to enjoy that challenge. we'll see how that goes. but each play through i repeatedly see what terraforming would do. it's like a cheat code.
the terraforming tools need some work - both the game and the mod. it's hard to reliably get the outcome in the environment i'm looking for.
I totally agree. I thought a lot about it and came to the conclusion that the terraforming is doing more bad than good.
On the one hamd, it it thought to be an additional cost when building because one needs to flatten before putting the building. It also a factor impacting the defence so that one should include the elevation when planning the defence.
On the other hand, the huge impact it has on the defence make it as a tool when building a city. It is not only NEEDED when building a city on vainquisher, it is also something to plan in anycase to avoid gaps between buildings. So if you need tonplan it then it pushes even more to extend terraforming into cliffs for defense...
Because it is not really done for it (or at leaste it does not feel like), it is tedious, unnatural, "unhistorical" and provoke a discrepancy between what we see on UA-cam from people having time for it and our own games (I do not have the time to invest 45min terraforming in my gaming sessions) which is really frustrating. And this discrepancy is dangerous for such a game since UA-cam is quite important for marketing and community.
I see two possibilities:
1) they remove terraforming.
You pay the additional cost for flattening when building the building. They could even think about change the 3D models to include a -1 floor that will be most often underground but might be an entrance when the slope is high (such as mountain houses). That should not cost them too much.
Plus, to offer more customization, they could make tool to a ditch where you dig one row and add the soil on the other row.
2)They rework the terraforming and add soil as collectable. Like that you elevate or dig at a cost of work and ressources, within limitations and you build beautiful cities including elevation without huge frustration.
This requires much more work to find the good balance.
What do you think about it?
Even though this is an organic build, I think this is one of your best starts. Decent food, no mass die-offs, good immigration, an uneventful raid. I like this build!
Remember the days when a gaming company would be careful enough to release a complete and polished game on its own with no "updates?" I swear these knee jerk reaction tweaks are a clever ploy for job security. I'm also looking at you Microsoft, and Dead by Daylight!
The luck of seeing this on my home page a minute after posting!
Haha, it's actually a good series - i'm really enjoying this new concept design.
glad to know there's terraforming in this game because i enjoyed terraforming too much when i played the Aztecs The Last Sun demo 32:20
Rolling On Floor Laughing GRIN
New FF lets play, hell yeah.
it is your idea... its your vlog.. your build.. we are all spectators.
Hey, I have enjoyed all of your past creations. I would like to play along with your series. Would you mind sharing the seed for this map? Keep it up.

Thanks so much,@@TacticatGaming!
Жаль английский не понимаю) а так чисто по механике игры, представления есть)
How does the flatten tool work? i thought it was to lower and even a hill or w/e, new to the game!
It averages the cells
Thank you!@@TacticatGaming
Sure you did not miss an e? XD
How are you able to just pick up a hunter shack and place it somewhere else? Am I missing something in game or is that a mod?
move building button at the top right
Does the desireability increase if housing is spaced a liittle ?
that's all based on decorations and other buildings
You Crack Me Up.
This is Organic? OK … If you say so.
😂😂😂😂🫡
USDA approved
This game is a simulation of humans exploiting their environment and carbon-based resources. The very definition of organic chemistry.
