Oh, the days before over regulation. Honda made this 1500 V12 based on their 250 twin racing bike. Their only win was at Mexico City in 1966. This was the last race of the season. And the last race of the 1.5 liter formula. This car was a real jewel. The sound of the little V12 is like music to my old ears. Thanks for the memories.

I do agree that we need atmospheric engines back with at least 8 cylinders, but that's so unlikely to happen. If anything, we could suggest to them to experiment with V8 or V10 hybrids. And a formula 1 with similar technology. I saw an interview with Lewis Hamilton the other day , when Alonso was demonstrating the Renault V10 which was built 30 years later in the 90’s. It did sound gorgeous. So formula one owners, maybe you should sponsor Honda to demonstrate that beautiful car around the circuits, with maybe Jenson Button driving, as he is definitely an anorak 😉.

A four stroke engine with a two stroke power band...awesome to say the least.

Did you ever drive an in- and outlet guided two stroke engine? Their power band isn't necessarily narrow. Striving for high specific power output will always result in a narrow power band, no matter if two or four stroke and culminates in a turbine.

Not sure what that roll bar would do for the driver in a roll over , but , probably it would help protect that beautiful music making machine in the back of the car .

I have ridden Honda machines from 50 to 1800 Gold Wings, and they are the best machines with no breakdowns! I like Kawasaki machines, but nothing beats Honda in terms of reliability!

damn the thing sounds like it's rev god, i love high revving motors the sound just gives me goosebumps . those who say it sounds like a lawn mower well, i guess your lawn mower have some nice hi-tech valves springs to hold such high revs. honda does make some goods as hell lawn mowers but also they make some great car/bike engines..

I shared a pit garage with one of them at a Donnington Park ACU test day about 15 years ago. Honda were shaking it down for some event or other. I had no idea what it was untill they fired it up and started revving the tits off it ... Holy mother of Jesus...what a way to sustain permanent hearing damage!

You should have heard the 1983 European Formula 2 Honda 2L V6 engine - a full-works unit, so loud at start-up in the pits they clipped on a pair of silencers! It really screamed its way to winning 7 out of the 12 races.
