    I really enjoy your videos especially the ones about Beighton, I’ve lived here since 1980 but when I see your videos I learn more about the village I live in, keep up the great work buddy 👍👍👍

    Hi paul great video about beighton stations in your village and mine of 38 years up until watching your video l only thought there had only been 1 near the signal box that should never been demolished as it was part of beighton history but the signal box sign is still in beighton on the lifestyle centre near St Marys church when are back in beighton be nice for catch up how is your model railway coming along anyway great videos paul which are very informative about our local history and beyond such as GCR l watch everyone

      I have to admit I've not even looked at the model railway since early spring. I've just been far too busy with other stuff, it's losing out in the battle for my time.

    Great video Paul, nice to see what the area looks like away from the railway
    There are a few passenger trains that use the old road into Sheffield but obviously no stations for them to stop at

      I keep meaning to get up early one morning and catch one of those services down the old road. I by accident got one in around 2000 on a Sunday afternoon, but thought nothing of it.

    Thanks for the video, Beighton Station signalbox was the first box I worked during 1989-90 and it was such a shame to see it go (along with Woodhouse and Woodburn at the same time). I'm looking forward to the next video of Woodhouse as that has been my home village for 56 years and I spent 2 stints working the signalbox there too

    • @WobblyRunner
      @WobblyRunner  26 днів тому

      👍 that must have been hard at the time, seeing it pulled to pieces like that.

      @@WobblyRunnermy workmate sent me a video of Woodhouse box being demolished and I just couldn't bring myself to watch it. With Beighton I have fond memories because it was such a quiet box I made an O gauge model of the box while I was actually working, it was perfect so I could get all the measurements I needed :) all with the Area Managers blessing of course LOL

    The accident mentioned was said to be caused by a combo of a siding with a minimum running gauge clearance to the main line and to rough shunting which caused the plate to shift on the wagon into the running gauge of the passing train. or so I have read.

      Cheers Chris. By coincidence, I was going through my old Beighton photos when putting this together and had one of a 40. This was only around 2016 though.

    The thing I like about the level crossing is that it's the only crossing on the entire GCR to survive

    Another informative and interesting video. It’s wonderful that you bring all this somewhat forgotten era to us to reminisce etc.
    They were better days in many ways back then. Look forward to the next one.

    sad to see beighton hasn't got a railway station they could have put that signal box to good use on a heritage railway. at wye Kent it had signal box out of use for a few years it was dismantled and now it is at a Somerset heritage railway also chartham Kent two stations up it had a signal box and was repainted surely something like that could have been done to it

    • @WobblyRunner
      @WobblyRunner  24 дні тому

      I agree. Shame it was just ripped apart. If I remember from the time from what was said locally, I believe Network Rail wanted a substantial amount in a short space of time. I could be wrong.

    Wasn't this line supposed to be opening for Passanger traffic but all the way up to Deepcar as that's another one that's also been on the cards for a long time ?

    • @WobblyRunner
      @WobblyRunner  26 днів тому +1

      Yeah. I only ever heard rumours about Deepcar. But it looks like it's all been shelved now anyway, unfortunately.

    @paulcharlton4788 26 днів тому +1

    I think Labour have just scrapped the idea of reopening the line for passenger traffic.
