Holly Hunter ugly crying after they steal the baby is one of the best moments in cinema history.
Yes, it sure is!
a-freaking-men
She's so bad 😂❤
ABSOLUTELY!!! I specifically wait to see if scene pops in the few reactions to it so far to see how reactor responds to Holly cry. Was happy to see this reaction to it. Perhaps best cry scene ever as far as believability. Master of the craft!
Love him so much lol ❤❤
“Son, you got a panty on your head”
One of the best lines in cinema history
Drive fast.
Scraping the finger knuckles against that rough ceiling is so hysterically specific that anyone can relate, even though that specifically has happened to next to none of us.
That happens to almost anyone living in a trailer with textured ceilings.
@@michaelmartin4874especially when one is tall.
@@mikelundquist4596 I'm 5'9", and I do it all the time.
The Coens are masters of "specific" comedy 😂
This is one of my favorite movies, and there are so many great scenes. But for some reason the scrapped knuckles on the ceiling is my favorite part. The whole fight scene in that tiny trailer, trashing it and getting hurt because its too small....golden
"That night I had a dream"......even all these years later, I get a little choked up at the end of the film. It's a lovely closing scene.
"Give me that baby, you warthog from hell!"
Fun Fact: Frances McDormand and Holly Hunter were roommates at the Yale School of Drama in 1982.
Coen Cinematic Universe Fact: H.I.'s (Nicolas Cage) work uniform logo shows he works for Hudsucker Industries, which became the setting of a later Coen movie, The Hudsucker Proxy (1994).
Safety Guarantee Fact: The shot where Evelle (William Forsythe) and Gale (John Goodman) stop just before hitting the car seat with the baby in it was filmed in reverse, with the car driving away from the seat.
Crazy Hairstyle Fact: According to Ethan Coen, Nicolas Cage was crazy about his Woody Woodpecker haircut and that it reacted to H.I.'s stress level. The bigger the danger he's in, the bigger the wave in his hair gets.
Unfortunately, I will miss the premiere. Enjoy!
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
The bounty hunter was played by Randall "Tex" Cobb. He was an actor, stuntman, and professional boxer (went 12 rounds with Larry Holmes in '82 championship bid.)
Tex Cobb is one of the greatest characters in all time of character acting and sports. His segments on Letterman back in the day are the stuff of legend.
@@ididthisonpulpous6526 Guy was both tough and hilarious.
I’ve been saying, “Boy, you got panties on your head,” for close to 35 years…and I’m only 45.
Watched this as a kid & still love it.
same
YUP
Okay, then.
That's a long time to say the quote wrong.
Me too !! 😂😂 except I’m 47 😜
You're the only reactor I watch that could really understand all the nuances and the details that make this movie so special!! Fantastic reaction!! "Don't you come back without a chalupa!" 😂😂😂 You're amazing!!❤
That’s because reactors are all dumb
@@icewallow7085 if you feel that way why are you here?
I love how the credit roll comes in around 15 minutes into the movie, and you realize all that was just an introduction to the wild time you're about to have.
The Coen Brothers were on one when they made this flick! It's absolutely insane and consistently hilarious, and honestly it's just ridiculous how expert the Coens are at writing ANY kind of film, ANY kind of character, in such a way that you'd think they lived those experiences themselves!
PS, I think you'll have a BLAST with their crazily underrated 2004 comedy 'The Ladykillers' with Tom Hanks chewing up every inch of scenery in what is, for me, an all-time Hanks role 😂
I always forget Ladykillers is a Coen bros remake, but it's so damn funny.
@reservoirdude92
That's one of my all-time favorite comedies & hardly anyone ever talks about it. I'm so happy to see your comment!🩵✨️
I saw this in theater at 15. At 22 in '93, "Leonard Smalls"/Randall "Tex" Cobb became my neighbor in Nashville. Was when he did episode of "Married With Children" & "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective". Long story, but suffice to say, was a trip to hear "Hey, Dave" at grocery & turn around & see Leonard Smalls!😅 Cool dude! He also still boxed smaller bouts & would stop outside my window every morning to punch the sh*t out of the tree in my front yard before jogging on. Shared a brew here & there, but never talked shop since everybody always fukn with him. Then i moved up the street & heard he died. Then years later found out was his son with same name who'd died, & he moved back to Philly. Hope he's well!🙏❤️
See ya!
✌️🌎❤️
"This would be a beautiful moment.. if she wasn't singing it to a kidnaped baby" LMFAO!!!!!!!!
"Evidence" LMAO 🤣😂🤣
😅
The woodpecker tattoo is of the Clay Smith Camshaft company and the Thrush muffler company. It's a real popular tattoo with Hot Rodders 🚗
From "That SoB..." to "Everything's chaaaanged!" the yodeling chase might be the funniest scene ever. It's non-stop insanity from start to finish and pure comedic genius.
Another Coen comedy JL would enjoy - Hail Ceasar, with George Clooney and Josh Brolin
This is one of my favorite movies over all genres. The Beethoven’s 9th on the banjo…I knew this was different. I’ve been quoting this movie most my life.
Boy you gotta panty on your head” haha awesome! My cousin went to high school with the great Tex Cobb out in Abilene!
i don't think i have ever seen a movie touch you so much. there were countless times where you looked at the camera completely speechless
Truly, one of my all time favorites. My sister and I used to watch it all the time growing up. Had it memorized.
I love all of the Coen Bros. films!
This remains my favorite Coen brothers movie, with Fargo as a close second. And i still think this is Nic Cage's best role.
@RobFMDetroit
Cage plays quirky characters better than anybody. He's great in Peggy Sue Got Married, too! I wish he played 'quirky' more often. :)
@@wallyboy6666 I keep hearing the new one where he plays himself is great but haven't seen it yet. He takes a lot of shit for some of the movies he's done, but I love that he takes the chances he does and occasionally hits gold 👍🏼
@@RobFMDetroit
Yes, I heard that, too & want to see it. Thank you for the reply, it's nice to talk to another Cage fan! :)
Part of me always wanted Cage to make a cameo of HI in My Name is Earl
"I...can pitch my voice...wherever I PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!"
Considering HI's dream about warthog came true, I like to think his dream about the grandkids is also a premonition
I absolutely love this movie, I’ve loved it since I saw it in the theater. I saw it when it came out in 1987, it was released on my birthday, March 13th. And because of that, I’ve made a tradition to watch it every year on my birthday.
Edit: 37 years later, I still say, okay then, all the time.
Oh, Friday the 13th...didn't know that. I was born the following Monday after this came out in Phoenix
@@fmellish71 I was 23 when this came out ✌💖☮
@@SquirminHermanthe1eyedGerman And here I thought I was starting to feel old at 42. 😂😂
@@SFOlson haha you are over 40 so the yungins will say you are old, reckon I am ancient then 😁
@@SquirminHermanthe1eyedGerman True, it seems like anyone under 25 nowadays, looks at anyone over 40 as a geezer.
H.I.’s wife was played by the always brilliant Holly Hunter. She’s in a very good romcom, called Broadcast News (also from ‘87, like Raising Arizona), with recently passed William Hurt (RIP) & the great Albert Brooks as her costars in the film. I think it’s one of her best performances.
Born & raised here in Scottsdale, AZ. When this movie came out, a lot of Arizonans did not like this movie. They said this movie made us look like a bunch of hicks. I think this movie is/was hilarious. Filmed in Apache Junction out by the Superstition Mountain. At the time, they actually had convenience stores named Short Stops. This movie actually put Holly Hunter, Nicholas Cage & John Goodman on the map as far as actors. Anyway, really enjoyed your reaction, can't wait for your next one.
Am I wrong in thinking that this may have inspired, "My Name Is Earl"?
Great pick. Nicolas Cage is so funny
Love this one! Happy to be here!
This film is just sheer brilliance. In my top 10 favorite movies for sure. First time I watched it I nearly pissed myself from laughing during the Huggies chase scene. 😂
"They're just doin' what you commanded 'em to, Gale."
(exasperated) "I told you not to use our real names. Can't you even TRY to keep from FORGETTIN' THAT?!?"
"Not...not even our code names?"
"Oh! Whew! Yeah! Our code names!"
"Y'all hear that? We're usin' CODE NAMES!"
Say, that reminds me. When Hi scrapes his knuckles on the ceiling is everything.
Agree with everything you said. Favorite lines? "Turn to the right!" Doesn't look funny on paper, but the way Holly Hunter says it is 😅 and "Unless round's funny."
One of my all-time favorite films, I know it front-to-back.
Casting perfection. Impossible to imagine anyone else playing these characters
I feel like this is a perfect JL movie. It's so absurd and just has the perfect flow of events and comedy to keep the Murder Whistle laughing.
Just a great movie, thank you for watching this.
Holly Hunter was Ed... she was Elastigirl in the Incredibles.
I laughed so hard the first time I saw this genius film! It’s so great in all it’s Cohen-ness !
Great reaction!
So many great lines in this movie. "I'll be taking these Huggies and whatever cash you got in the drawer". I love this movie so much!
This movie is so well made and is a hilarious classic
unpainted Huffhines
The .gif of Ed punching HI is the single greatest gift the internet has bestowed upon us.
The actor who plays the dirty bounty hunter played the villain in many 80s movies. Including Collison Course with Jay Leno and Pat Morita from 1989.
I love watching your doggos ramble around on the bed in the background. Leonard Smalls is played here by Randall 'Tex' Cobb, former professional boxer known for his incredible toughness, as well as his tendency to be easily cut in fights. The fighting press said that 'he bled at the weigh-in.' One of his bloodiest matches - against Larry Holmes - was so horrific that it prompted Howard Cosell to give up covering boxing matches forever, and was a key factor in the shortening of championship matches from 15 rounds to 12 rounds.
The Coens' live-action cartoon...
He fought Mohammed Ali, and did alright.
“This about to be fucking amazing.” You’re goddamn right.
The big biker was Randall Tex Cobb professional kickboxer turn professional boxer was ranked in the top 10 in 80 81 with the distance with Larry Holmes homes hit him with everything, but the kitchen sink said he was a toughest man he ever fought if he would’ve fight MMAwould’ve been a world champion
"How are you going to kidnap the kidnapped baby?" 😂 Exactly J
That beautiful song you mentioned is actually about a murder and execution 😂😂😂
OMG! so excited you’re watching this. You’re gonna love it!
Thank you so much for this homie. Almost nobody reacts to this classic. You are a PRO.
This is one of those best movies that I don't know how many times I've watched! Bro! I love how you got the baby handbook over your mouth when you're swearing too! Nice little touch!
I know i watched this like 15+ years ago and i dont remember much of anything about this movie.
Holy shit. I knew Eds voice was familiar! Thats Mrs. Incredible!
This movie has some much rewatch value. I was so happy when I saw the thumbnail because I always knew you'd enjoy it. Fun reaction.
"Gimee dat baby, you warthog from Hell!...."
I love this movie! There are so many great lines. My favorite is, "You warthog from hell" I'm so happy to watch it with you and the fam. Thank you!! ✌️❤️
this movie is completely perfect. i haven’t seen it in years but i have half of it memorized so i was reciting lines as i watched your reaction. knew you would adore it. bless you, my friend ❤
The bounty hunter is Tex Cobb. He went 15 rounds with Larry Holmes.
The big guy was Randall “Tex” Cobb (RIP). He was a pro boxer that fought Larry Holmes.
My personal theory is that Smalls is a tulpa; or "thought form" from Tibetan Mysticism, and he is a reflection of H.I.'s own Jungian shadow self. I like to think that H.I. dreamed smalls into existence, and the nightmare is a manifestation of his own failings as a man and a husband. The "Mr.Horsepower" tattoo on both of their arms is acknowledgement that H.I. and Smalls are one and the same.
Quote. Overload.
Miss y’all. Be back soon ❤
Big shout to Blank for the edit! You kept in all the flavor when you carved this one up. You know what to look for in a good moment or scene from this movie. Personally, this is a top five movie of all time.
I have watched this plenty of times, never without a good chuckle at something.
I just realized that HI took the time to tie some warning flags to the end of that ladder on his roof rack.
The ladder he brought to to steal a baby...
"Hidee Kurt"
"I got the best one."
So cool he played with Kevin Costner & Cage. Movie silence of the Lambs was dedicated to him.
In my opinion, the best Coen brothers movie is A Serious Man. A lot of people missed it for some reason.
I was gonna say.. if the babies ain't here, I ain't here. Love dawgs...
Oh my gosh. Yes, you are going to have a blast.
This movie is oddly kinda comedy spectacle, right? So funny if u watch in that mental state of meet the fockers/scary movie
It’s an early Coen brothers movie, so it has humor to spare from the characters being so wacky. It’s not as serious as Fargo or as deranged as The Big Lebowski. Raising Arizona almost feels like a live action Looney Tunes movie.
I have recommended this movie a long time ago
Thanks!
Another thoroughly entertaining reaction 😆
"They have four healthy babies. Almost as good as this one." 😂
My family nearly wore out our VHS copy of this movie in the 80's.
I'd like to thank you for caring for your dogs brotha.
Is there a reaction to The Big Lebowski on the channel? Its also directed by the Coen brothers, and also stars John Goodman. I highly recommend it if he hasn't seen it yet!
It’s one of the first 10 on the channel - J
Lol love the dogs on the bed just chilling
Diving into the Nicholas Csge vintage vault, one of my favorites is "Valley Girl" 1983. I have the vhs where he used his Surname Coppola...before he changed it😊
This was one of the funniest movies that I've seen in a long time 😂. Great reaction J.
"Hold on, Nathan. We're gonna go pick up Daddy."
This was one of the most quoted movies in my family.
Not gonna trauma dump here, after the past few weeks I've had; this movie is a beautiful reminder that there is still joy to be found. Easily one of my favourite movies, that I point to when I loudly proclaim to scared children, "they don't make movies like they used to do." When Holly Hunter sings "Down In the Willow Garden", it strikes an emotional chord I can't quite describe. What a remarkable film, and I'm so happy you shared it with us.
“LOOK AT MY BABY BACK THERE, LOOK AT HIM. “The highlight of the video. You better give that lil babe some scritches and scratches is you read this.
I love this movie! Nicholas Cage is great in so many movies--this is one of his best! Terrific reaction!
This movie is my top 5 of all time. Absolutely love it.
One of my fav comedies of all time. You made me laugh even harder at some parts, lol. Nick Cage should only play this character in every movie, ever. No role has ever fit him so well. Its sad that so many people have never heard of this film. Its perfect.
This movie's old enough that Nathan Jr, having been drafted out of high school, has retired from the NFL after a nineteen year career.
That's holly Hunter
I love this movie… It’s a special one. ♥️♥️♥️
It's so funny. I was just wondering why you no longer do the old "NIGHT NIGHT!"
This is one of those movies that’s rarely on tv, but when it’s on you drop the remote lol. I’ve loved this move since the 90’s when I was kid lol
That demon from hell is Randall "Tex" Cobb. Mid level boxer.actually fought Muhammed Ali. He didn't win though!
This was such a good and funny movie I grew up watching it back then it was my and my mother favorite funny film you will Injoy it
Never been to Kentucky but been to West Virginia. That 2007 Backyard Brawl is legendary. My visit to Morgantown was the year after, I think?
Love your reactions. This film has my 2nd cuz he's the dad. He died in 1989 my mom died in 2015 as talked about him alot. Also my dad knew . Randy Quaid was a friend from Houston
I love this movie so much & it doesn't get much love on You Tube. Another goofy cult classic that doesn't get much UA-cam love is the 1980 version of FLASH GORDON.
Ah the coen bros......so good.....
I saw this opening day in the theater. Still think it's their best movie next to NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN.
Randall Ted Cobb, the dirty biker man, was a professional kickboxing champion.
