    Did you notice a lot of the future people wearing Crocs? They chose those shoes because they thought they looked dumb and there was no way people would wear them, low and behold Crocs are now a multi-million dollar company. 🤣

    • @snowflakepillow8697
      @snowflakepillow8697 9 місяців тому +6

      I bought orange size 13 Crocs when they were only sold at outdoor stores... around 2003?4? and rocked them despite everyone roasting me for wearing them because I don't give a fuck. Nice to have shoes you can hose off sometimes, although a stick went through them and they melt easily.
      Crocs got too big and started having stores in malls and all this BS, and I wanted to get a new pair of orange ones and they no longer made them bigger than size 12... totally forgot the early adopters that got them there.

    "Yah I know this place is pretty good, I went to law school here."
    "In Costco?"
    "Yah I couldn't believe it myself, luckily my dad was an alumnus and pulled some strings."
    Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Kati Sharp.
    Idiocracy One Fact: The Presidential RV has the number 28000, which is the real tail number for Air Force One.
    Voice Play Fact: Director Mike Judge is the voice of the announcer at the demolition derby. He also voices the announcer of The Masturbation Network.
    Blink And You'll Miss It Fact: The very small Surgeon General's warning seen on the Tarrylton's Cigarettes billboard reads: "Warning: The Surgeon General has one lung and a voicebox but he could still kick your sorry ass."
    Casting Notes Fact: Thomas Haden Church had read for Office Space (1999) but didn't get the part. However Mike Judge was a big fan of Church's work and tried getting him cast in other projects but due to other commitments, they couldn't line it up. When this film was shooting in Austin Texas, Judge called Church to work for one day. To this day, Church hasn't seen the film.
    Studio Hacks Fact: In addition to concerns about how to market the film, Twentieth Century Fox also grew weary of the film's frequent, harsh critiques of recognizable corporations. Studio executives wished to shuffle the movie to DVD shelves as quickly and quietly as possible. The film's contract, however, stipulated that it had to receive a theatrical release. The studio met the terms of the contract, but provided no marketing for the film, released it in an unusually small number of cinemas in select cities, and pulled the film in all markets after only one week. So little effort was put into showing the film in theaters, that some of the few cinemas that screened the film were forced to promote it as "Untitled Mike Judge Project" in their lists of coming attractions.

    Luke Wilson is wearing Crocs back when they started and chosen because of their ugly design, which at the time no one thought would be popular in the future.
    And yes, Fuddruckers was an actual restaurant.

    Fuddruckers was a fast food place that I ate at when I was a kid in the 80’s. It was either in New Jersey or Pennsylvania on one of the Turnpikes. The burgers were gigantic because they primarily served truckers. My Dad was a big guy, but he was probably half the size of the average trucker in that place. The burgers were kind of like how Wendy’s has the triple cheeseburger nowadays. I think my Father was looking to try it for a while and that’s probably how we ended up there. He was good for some fast food a few times a month. I remember the tables all being tall because the average dude in there was about 6’5.” I’ve since seen signs for them when I lived in New York and had to drive through New Jersey, but I haven’t been back. I don’t remember how the food was and I’m sure it’s changed over the years. I figure every burger joint is worth trying at least once. I’ll say this…Carl’s Jr. is insanely good. So is In-Out Burger and The Habit. The best burger (in my opinion) is defunct. It used to be Nathan’s Famous Super Burger with everything on it. They were known for their hot dogs, but the Super Burger was charbroiled Heaven! As far as I know, only a few Nathan’s still exist and all exclusively sell Hot Dogs and Fries with no options for burgers at all.

    I love this movie and it’s absolutely hilarious, as with most Mike Judge material. But all the people saying that it’s a documentary or too close to reality are sadly way off. There’s a good video on Cracked from a few years back about how Idiocracy is actually a utopia compared to what we have now. The problem we have now is with people that are malevolently misinformed but think they’re better and smarter than everyone, including the experts. In Idiocracy, people generally understand their limitations and defer to experts because they want things to get better. Camacho literally finds the smartest person in the world, brings him into government to help solve problems, and when Joe actually does start to fix problems, Camacho resigns so that Joe can lead. Camacho cares more about actually improving the world and solving problems than he cared about being President. We should be so lucky to have politicians like that today.

    Thank you very much for covering this movie. I remember having SO MANY laughs getting stoned and watching it with my former best friend and such. The biggest point of the movie wasn't that it was telling how things were GOING TO BE... but that it was a reflection of how society is RIGHT NOW.
    Seriously, you canNOT tell me that the crap that goes on in that movie does NOT happen right now... and that it would be nothing short of a MIRACLE if the top leaders decided to put the most intelligent people in charge of solving major problems... even if they DO mock and make fun of them initially... which is pretty much guaranteed anyway.
