James, you are a true tradesman. Where I live, getting a plumber to come out to a leak is almost impossible. They're not interested in small jobs but would be there in a flash if you asked them to come and re plumb your house. Forget even phoning them at the weekend, they just don't answer and don't return your calls. Well done you.
Well done for telling people about the half turn back from opening the stop tap fully. I worked for a local water company for many years and the amount of seized stop taps I had to deal with cos they'd been fully opened and left for years was unreal. They also need to do it on internal stop taps too. Great vlog mate.
I enjoy viewing your videos. I find that these type are the most valuable. They give you a glimpse of the “real world problems” that A Plummer comes across. Your knowledge and thinking process are as sharp as a razor. Great job! I would like to see more of these types of videos because they expose the uniques of each call. Thanks.
James, these on the job vids are excellent. I really worry about taking units apart, cutting into walls and panels when there are no other options. This has really helped with my confidence in taking on these jobs and also shortened the time it takes to complete them. Please can we have more like this? I joined #ALEARMY everyone should as it's a great way to interact with others. Bring on Thursday's
Really like this style of video. The tip about opening the sink tap fully prior to turning back on the external stop tap so you can effectively control the water coming back on from within the house near to the job was really good. Not something I have seen or thought about but will try to remember if I ever have to do such a thing. Also you reminded me to add a recurring entry twice a year to my calendar to test the internal AND external stop tap twice a year. It has been a long while since they were last turned and I would sooner find out they were hard to turn now rather than in the middle of an emergency. I have been meaning to add the job to the calendar ever since a family member had a mains pressure leak internally but had never turned either stop tap since they had bought the house 10+ years previous. It took an age to get either tap to turn and no end of additional water leaked into the house all for a calendar entry and a few minutes twice a year! I did earlier this year add some labels to the obvious places, inside the under kitchen sink cupboard doors and the under the stairs cupboard doors telling any one who needs to know in an emergency where both the internal and external stop taps (plus the electric and gas cut offs) are located as it could be someone else who has to find them and in a panic you don't want to be guessing where they are with cupboards full of the inevitable junk making it even harder.

i've got a numatic wet/dry hoover (charles: like a henry but bigger) and its great for slurping up water and crap with jobs like this. also good for slurping the water out of pipes before removal and sorting out air locks in tank fed systems
Good job. I like watching on the tool videos. Also I agree what you said about Instagram, it's a skewed reality of shiny copper pipes. I like to see real on the job awkward scenarios, helps the rest of us learn. I've never seen them push fit fittings before, do they demount? Also do you ever use pressfit? Keep up the good work.
Good job mate I had a similar leak this week went to TP and picked up one of those 20 - 15mm fittings I don’t like them much as well compared to the normal compressions, but nevertheless it does the job and held well.
Great job 👍.. Fitting out my on-suite. Would you fit the shower tray first and then the waterproof wall boards or the boards first and fit the tray up to the boards 🤔
Would you trust the Aladdin easy fit isolator? I know you've done videos on it but Im curious to know if you still recommend it as ive seen some bad reviews about it and the company. thx
I had the same thing happen to me. I managed to get a new fitting and fix it myself (not a plumber) I think the reason why it failed is because it suffer from water hammer where the fitting is. Even after replacing it I still get knocking from that area. Would fitting a water hammer arrester solve the issue? Thanks
Reckon the original plumber rammed the short stub of copper into the top of the MDPE fitting and damaged the O ring or didn't push it in far enough( think you mentioned something about that..). Just so many bozos out there,it's depressing! Good work but one small suggestion-next time leave the fairy liquid by the sink and use some silicone spray instead. chemically proven to be kinder to O-rings.
Having looked at the Plasson website, they do a tool to remove the ends. They are about £18, which is fine, but you might struggle to get that tool into that tight space if you have an issue in the future. Its always difficult to weigh up your options in this situation. Go with a fitting that will easily fit into that space and avoid extra pipe alterations or put a slightly bulkier fitting on and having to deal with making things fit afterwards. I'm overly cautious so I probably would have gone for a philmac style compression, just in case it needs replacing in the future. Nevertheless, a great repair and I'm sure you still had time to go and play a bit of tennis 🎾 😀.
Why do you put compound on your compressions? Im not a plumber im gas, but we were always told under no circumstances put tape or compound on a comp fitting
I don't know what reasons James had, but i would have also kept the compression elbow just because it gives you that bit of flexibility in the future. Being able to disconnect the fitting on the horizontal end in case you didn't have enough movement or just to be able to get it out your way if you need to remove that section again in the future. All about make things easier for yourself and still knowing the compression fitting in completely adequate for the job.
Great Video James. A quick question i change a basin tap just there i change the hoses as weil. The old hoses had lever valve on them the new ones i put in had no lever valve. Does it make any difference ?
My question.... why would someone cut the MDPE pipe that low under the ground....yes it’s acceptable....but look at the ball ache .... I’d have put that transition fitting above ground.... knowing if the end unit will cover it.... this could have been avoided .... in my opinion.... but failure of fitting can happen....
If you was working in a closet and put that fairy bottle there one would think you was trying to tell us some sad news, lol, #I like straight pipe, lmfao. You are so bad James.
What about the paperwork? How much you bill him for that....... emergency......,Saturday.......obviously got a few quid looking at the house Come on jimbo?.?

Great job. I'm sure the client was looking out the window at the van thinking 'when's he going to leave to get that part?' 🤣
Haha! You now mate!
i guess Im kinda off topic but do anyone know a good place to watch new tv shows online ?

Awesome James.. wish you could do more of these on the job jobs 🤪
Well done mate
It nice to see real plumbing. not just shiny copper pipes
Good showing on how to find, and do a repair in a spot not clearly visible/accessible 👍

Amazes me how you can work while wearing an iWatch.
I’ve twatted mine on everything & it’s chipped to buggery now!
It's fucked mate. Totally scratched to shit.
Good tip on the valve. The replacement shut-offs in our area are ball-valves.
Saturday callout - that's a 3 week holiday in the south of France!!! LOL!!!

Brilliant video, you inspire me to be a great plumber when I grow up and become qualified.
Great job it helps if you can get the right part off the shelf on a Saturday morning, loved the video.
Great job. Pity you reversed into the garage with your tow bar (15:45)! 🤣
Haha!

Nice work as always Jimmy. Where was the song this week? I’ve missed ale army last few weeks, will be there this week!!
You'er a good man James and a TOP plumber all the best mate Kev in Epsom

Hello sir I'm from South Africa .. thank you for adding all these videos it's very helpful
Great job 👍.. Fitting out my on-suite. Would you fit the shower tray first and then the waterproof wall boards or the boards first and fit the tray up to the boards 🤔
Just bought the bag on your Amazon channel - brilliant!
Where did you get the bag from mate, could do with one of those
great video Love the live fixes
Would you trust the Aladdin easy fit isolator? I know you've done videos on it but Im curious to know if you still recommend it as ive seen some bad reviews about it and the company. thx
Good video on the tools, if you couldn't reach the outside stopcock do you keep a key on the van.
Should the Pipe not be ducted and insulated, being so close to an exterior wall?
Ask the shit builders!
More on the tools content, this was good
Hi James, could you do a step-by-step vid on converting copper tap piping to Flexi pipes? I have a couple that I would like to do.
Many Thanks,
Rich
Good fix only thing is when that new push fit starts to leak it will be a nightmare to remove

I prefer Philmacs too. Even on leadlocs they work real well.
Oops! Meant instead of lead-locs. Durrr!
Great video.
Thank you 👍
Why do you put compound on your compressions? Im not a plumber im gas, but we were always told under no circumstances put tape or compound on a comp fitting
Very lucky with that. Could have had an old imperial black alkathene pipe of which there are many different types and wall thicknesses still around.
Good tip on the outside stop tap I need to do that
How much would you have charged for that job ?
Fantastic video again m8.
Yo Jimbo, silly question but why still use the compression fitting on and not solder a 90 degree bend on?
I don't know what reasons James had, but i would have also kept the compression elbow just because it gives you that bit of flexibility in the future. @@ChristianBHough too close the plastic to safely solder
Do you have any videos on lead mains
Who here always wants James to come to this house just because of Casey 😂
Great Video James. A quick question i change a basin tap just there i change the hoses as weil. The old hoses had lever valve on them the new ones i put in had no lever valve. Does it make any difference ?
you will be fine.they are just service valves. And you are not likely to need to service the tap.
@@UberAlphaSirus cheers Sirus thanks
Can you do a review on your ox pipe slice
Great job 👍
Nothing wrong with hanging boiler on the wall with shiny pipes plumber and heating engineer two diffent things.
Every video I wonder how you work in shorts with no knee pads, I'm relatively new to the trade and they are essential for me
Did you reverse into the garage door? ;-)
So how much does a call out like that cost?
Macho macho man !
How much would you charge for that? 👍
Nice job 👍🏼
As an electrician watching this, it was tough seeing that earth clamp done by some crappy spark😂
Good morning to you sir from wellington Somerset
How much would you charge for this on a Saturday?

what did you do with that compression joint? It looked like you wrapped something around it before you nipped it up.
PTFE or jointing compound on the olive 👍🏼
@@jakes6147 does it go on both sides of the olive?
Woody 07 Yeah all around the olive
@@jakes6147 thanks man
Better still when the local council tarmacced over the cover 🙄 finally I spotted a tiny piece of silver tape, ahaa found it 😂
Water regs stipulate ducting and insulation with in a distance from an outside wall, I don't see that pipe is ducted or insulated!
Did anybody catch where the toolbag and tools came from that James was using in this video?? 😂
Everything he uses is on his amazon tool store. Check the link in description and go to his "My Hand Tool Bag" section.
No idea, I wish James would tell us. 😇
Why did you not fit a plilmac
Great job, sadly we can't clone you so that all plumbers are as good..
Stud detector bro always!
I wonder how much he charges for that job
Don't warry easy u can open this push fit
