Good video, what I learned many many years ago if your doing a retro fit or a replacement I Always grease any threaded metal to metal fittings. Makes life a lot easier if it ever has to be serviced or replaced.
Hi Mark, Another great film as always, copper pipe work and soldering, brilliant. Definitely real world plumbing, that Aqualisa shower looked very smart. Yep a film on the van roof camping pod would be great. Have a great rest of the week, take care, regards, Chris. 👍👍👍
Cheers buddy….. was doing a few bits on the computer and spotted you on so quickly dropped a message. I’ve done a few lives…. They are great fun mate👍🏼👍🏼
Another great video Mark What I'd like to see next is a tent video explaining the set up etc,and if possible getting Bear Grylls into to first fix a bathroom.😁
Great work very neat! Is it a vented system? - just from the pressure of the hot water. If so, should it have a NRV (check) valve on the hot? I usually do but conflicting info, suggested if it mixes in the spout of the tap it's not needed, but if mixed in the body it is needed. What's your take? Thanks for the great videos!
That aqualiega valve as you call it !! ( aqua lisa) is the same valve as the Ultra & Hudson Reed apart from the hose clip to hold the handset . But badged up for Aqualiega! Sorry couldn't resist. Its a multi used shower valve by a few companies. I know this as ive fitted loads of those. Decent shower valve to be fair & covered by Aqualiega 5 Yr warranty. With regard to the 1 & ½ bowl waste kit , I agree their rubbish apart from Mac Alpine. What I do is smear a little LSX on the rubbers seals & away you go. Especially if you've been called to a blocked sink & you have to strip it all down! Keep up the content 👌 👏
Thanks buddy……. You best off ringing Aqualisa and tell them they are pronouncing the company name wrong then as that’s how they say it, reps say it, customer services say it and the people at shows say it….. And I thought the grammar police were fickle🤣🤣🤣
Definitely would like to see the Tentbox and your opinion on it, been humming and harring ordering one to go on an Audi Q5 for travelling in the next couple of months as a good backup between Hotels and Airbnbs
Hi Mark, I'm a semi retired electrician , I love watching your videos, I think it's a bit like a black art that you make look simple, I'm sure some plumbers look at electrics that way too. The soldering work is super confident which I guess is down to years of experience. I've done a little home soldering of water pipes over the years and could never work out what was too little or too much heat. What does wiping the solder do with the wet cloth, I'd always donr it but to be honest never knew why?
Thanks Martin… glad you like the content I am creating. Wiping the joints after soldering obviously helps cool them quicker so you can carry on but also it’s important to wipe off any excess flux etc that can corrode the Pipework over time (you see joints that haven’t been wiped go all green)
@@MJTiffPlumbing Thanks Mark, I always wondered about the green corrosion and where it came from, thank you. I now live in Portugal and it's 99.9% plastic here, I think that good copper pipework always looks so professional, a bit like having all my electrical tails in the consumer units neatly trimmed and arranged I suppose.
@@MJTiffPlumbing I think because there's no structure to it if that's the right word. With glue it's final and solid. No amount of water can move a glued bit of pipework imho
Why don’t you like push fit wastes Mark ? I’ve never had a problem with them . I can understand using weld , but they go off so quickly after applying the glue ,
Lever valves for a kitchen tap is a little overkill for me to be honest…. Would take up a lot of space as you say. You can use them but I personally only use them when shutting off bigger fitting/appliances etc
Full bore is overkill for most mixer taps anyway tbh. Most hoses and tap internals are less than 10mm at most restricted point. They are better quality valves tho.
I just got a new council void to crack on with today. Upstairs 1 bed flat chipboard floors all rotten and falling through…. Gotta redo the whole flat. New kitchen bathroom the works…. Some muppet from the local council in Wolverhampton decided it would be a good idea to get the gas engineers in to fit a brand spanking Worcester Bosch boiler and new radiators throughout….. now I hate to slag people off but some people should not be gas engineers in this neck of the woods…. They have smashed the new boiler in fixed to plywood on a wall that’s plasterboard and rotten to hell… reused all the old pipe runs for the new rads which are all surface fixed to walls some of which are to be replaced… pipe work covered over with boxing which is all in compression fittings and leaking like mad and double the size they should be due to limescale build up round the pipes…. So me being me….. put a call in to our gaffer….. he said rip the lot out and start again….. so putting peoples work tight is a day to day thing for me…. You’d have to see the place. Your jaw would hit the floor! Loving the videos mate they certainly help in keeping me going!
Hi Mark great video as always! They called it Aqualisa after the owners daughter Lisa...but for some weird reason they've started pronouncing it Aqualiga. Anyways...have you tried the Aladdin valve which you can fit to live mains? I had to do this one xmas eve when water would not shut off either indoors or outside. Was sh1tting bricks at the time but it worked a treat. Done a couple of them since and they are brilliant. Maybe do a video on them sometime?
Thats what I like to see, testing for leaks without a bowl or a towel beneath 😉 confidence is key 👍
Gotta know your own work😉😉🙌🏼

Hi Mark, nice video again. Would love a tent video.
One will be coming mate, a lot of people have said they would be interested in it😉😉🙌🏼🙌🏼
Hey Mark, just wondering where you got your sign written protective mat from as looking to get one myself. cheers buddy keep up the good work.
Hey Matt…. It’s from a company called “stickers and that”…. Check them out on Instagram 👍🏼👍🏼
Given the option, in your own house would you fit one of these bar showers or what’s you call them, or a concealed shower?
I have an exposed bar shower in my house
@@MJTiffPlumbing is there a reason you chose that over a concealed? Is it strictly for easier maintenance?
my Aqua Lisa failed at the same point, the knob, they swapped it out no qiestions aasked, been fine since (5 years)

That’s a really bad case of wood butchery in the back of the sink unit! 😂 I hope whoever did it is proud of his work.

Great video mate . What pipe jointing compound are you using ? The one with the brush in the lid ? . Thanks
Thanks mate, it’s a product called “plumb Blue” from Plumbase
Hi Mark, how did you manage to solder those elbows behind the panel? Without burning anything.
Years of doing the job allows you to know what you can do👍🏼👍🏼

Just never been a fan to be honest, always go for solvent weld as it’s a lot more ridged
@@MJTiffPlumbing What about compression?
Compression wastes would be ugly mate… they are very bulky fittings
What is that brass fitting under the sink called? Looks like a brass Y
It’s a drain off buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
@@MJTiffPlumbing ah. Never seen that style. If we put drains on water pipes we usually use a Plug w a female adapter
Quick question Mark, why not use a full bore lever on the cold mains, not criticism, is it cos space?
