Hey, thanks for this video. I was in the Discord a few weeks back asking about how to cut sime weird angles on small pieces and you said you'd make a jig video about it and I'm so happy you did.
Glad I could help!
Great jig mate. I've been putting off the cross-cut sled in my small shop as I needed something a bit more multi-functional, and this hits the mark.
Perfect!
same!
@@MatthewPeechWoodworkingThanks Matthew! This is what i need too!
I found you a year ago, and have watched a shop load of your videos. This by far the best! No tracks to buy, no fancy clamps, just build and get to work.
I built your end table concealment for my SIL, great project and Lock Connection was amazing to work with!
Awesome, thank you!
WOW!!! I have been trying to set up my shop for my upcoming retirement and you just saved me a ton of money with this. Love all your videos. You are great!!
Thank you!
Great video. Super simple build that any of us should have thought of, and none of us did.
Thanks 👍
Thank you, Matty P! I built a jig that is just for tapering, but this one has so many more uses, as you've shown -- especially for cutting acute angles to make stars.
Yea I wanted one that was a all in one jig.
Billy Bob Thornton jr. knows his craft! Great idea and making one today.
Lol Thanks!
Thats a great jig... I made it and u saved my life man...thanks.....
Matthew, you are ALWAYS so informative and are as good of a teacher as there is! Well done and, for this and all your other videos, THANK YOU! Jim in MN
I went to your link and bought the clamps. This looks pretty easy to build, but thought I would support the effort you put into this, so I bought the plans. This is a great idea. I have a piece that I want to make a weather station but need to straighten three edges. This looks really versatile.
Thank you very much!
Made the jig and tested it. It works great, easy to build, I did practice on scrape wood for the router part as I have not routed in a while. Thanks for instructions.
Excellent!
I made it and it has been a game changer for me, and feels a lot safer than other methods I've used to get angles. One little tweak to take this to the next level I did was to also router the same grooves/channel on each top piece. It allows for a lot more flexibility.
Really nice idea Matt. I’ve seen variations of this on other channels and I really like the utility and simplicity of this.
Thanks!
So many problems solved in one jig. I don’t have a planer, and now don’t need one. Also I was planning to make a jig specifically to cut hexagons but I could use this. Thank you.
Matt, I built one of these this past weekend and used it to put a straight edge on a bunch of oak slats from pallets. I have one suggestion for this jig. I used pine as my board for the clamps and noticed that after a few clamps, the board started to crack at the point where the clamps mount and the edge. I switched to a piece of oak 3/4 in blocks, correcting the problem. Thank you for all your great videos and ideas. Sometimes I go into vapor lock trying to come up with ideas, but you spur me along with your great teaching and explanations. Keep um coming.
Love this Matthew! I am making this ASAP and I know it will make things easier for me on so many projects. Thanks my friend
I came up with something very similar recently because I wanted to taper some legs. I ended up making two sets of adjustable blocks of different thicknesses to accommodate thicker and thinner materials. Of course, if your toggle clamps adjust more than mine do, you may not need more than one set.
DUDE.... thank you so freaking much for this. I've been banging my head on the wall trying to find or create just a simple jig to cut acute angles, but also be multi use. Small shop so I don't want 200 tablesaw jigs laying around
No problem! This should help a lot!
live this jig, going to make this one, just bought the plans, I like how simple and versatile it is.. my current sled is the weight of a small car :)
THANK YOU ! What a great jig...I love the simplicity. Keep up the great ideas !!!!
You bet!
Very cool and simple.
For me I would add a track guide to help me run the jig straight everytime.
Sounds great
Been gathering the parts for this project over the last week, can't wait to build it today!
I just received my clamps. Excited to make this. Great tips. Thank you!
Great build Mathew. Love it could really use it
I like this jig. It seems like one could use a thicker 3" X 8" block, with longer bolts, & attach clamps to it for securing thicker pieces of lumber. Just switch to the block thickness needed. When i bought the clamps off the jungle store, they were relatively inexpensive, so making the extra blocks should be cost effective considering the overall savings of using this jig vs a jointer, for instance. I think harbor freight sells the clamps now too.
Wicked simple.
Thank you for sharing!!
Geat Jig. I made one long ago and use it almost everytime I’m on a project. Thanks for showing us how to make and use it!
You bet!
I know what I am going to be building in my shop this afternoon. That is one very sweet jig.
Right on!
Great idea Peechy - I’ll be making one of these tomorrow!
Thanks.
Nice!
That jig is awesome, I plan on making one, Thanks for sharing!!
Going to be making this for my woodshop thanks for the idea and plan
No problem 👍
This jig is awesome. I’ll be making one soon!
Nice! It’ll come in handy!
Love this jig, thanks Matt.
This is a great jig. I just got done cutting material for a project that this would have made things easier.
Well, at least I will have it for next time. Thanks for the video.
Awesome work. My old jig just broke and the knobs i had on it were nylon lock which sucks..Good deal I'll be making this, this weekend.
Man this is exactly on time - I need it TODAY. Thanks!
Perfect!
Thanks I cheered to You on Thanksgiving for continuing to give your ideas and talents with us all/ Yes I'm Canadian we celebrate in Oct Cheers to You & Yours
That's genius mate....will build one next week.😊
Hope you enjoy it!
I made one and it works great. I glued sand paper to the bottom of the blocks for a better grip. Tnx.
A great idea, presented well.
That is feckin awesome. I am definitely making one of these.
Thanks for sharing.
👍👏👍👏
This is the jig I've been looking for!!
Awesome!
What a great functional sled that isn't expensive to make. My next project. Thanks!
Great idea. Going to make one. Thanks
I'm definitely going to make this !!! Thanks man 😁
Hope you enjoy
Awesome as always! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!
Thats a great jig....i'm throwing out my cross cut sled for....thanks.....
This video is fantastic! Thanks.
You're very welcome!
Your best in class. Keep up the good work. Big fan of your work.
Thanks! 😃
Great design and video, Matthew! Simple and effective. By some cosmic coincidence, I recently bought 4 of those clamps with only a vague thought of using them with a sled. I’m curious about advantages or disadvantages of using the miter bar slot instead of the fence. Obvious disadvantage is a few extra steps to make. Advantage seems to be not having to focus on keeping the sled against the fence in use. Thanks as always for what you do here!!!
This is old, I know- and you've probably figured it out by now. But with the slot, you're locked into one specific distance from the blade. Using the fence, you're only limited by the capacity your fence allows, so you can do the edges on much larger (or smaller boards).
Dangit Matt you're a legend.
lol thanks!
Outstanding👍
Thanks ! Great video
You bet!
😲Very helpful idea thanks💪
No problem 👍
You did it way better than I did. Bravo.
This is genius!! Thanks
You're welcome!
Super cool Matthew 💕
Thanks!
Great Jig 😎👍🏻
Thanks a lot.
Just bought my first table saw. I'll be making one this.
Excellent many thanks
👍🏻
Dude you da man😅 wow. That jig just became my next project. I love your videos. Keep up the fantastic content and awesome presentation
That's a great idea, Matthew.
Thanks!
Nice job, clever.
Great video, ideas, and info as always 👍, I've been meaning to make this for a while. Going to get it done.
Awesome as always!
Thank you!
Best sled I've seen.
Thank you!
This is fantastic! Thanks!
You're very welcome!
Great idea. I’m gonna make one.
Thanks!
Very cool , Making one.
Nice jig! Thanks!!
You bet!
Thanks for the video your the man that’s going to change the game for me
Great idea and jig Sir! I know what today's project will be, thank you!👍
Have fun!
This channel has to be top 3 on all of UA-cam
Wow. Thank you so much.
The thin strips because of kickback is an amazing idea
Once again great build! Matthew, I want to build a concealed for for a closet in my house. I need the face to be sheetrock and want it to be like a hat hanging wall. Anyway you possibly give so ideas or do a video on building one?
For small projects - could use for making the groove for drawer bottoms, Rabbets.
If I make this, I can get rid of half a dozen special purpose tools, like the taper jig,
Thanks again Matthew!!
My pleasure!
I was planning on building one today and you put out a video not even 30 mins ago. Wild!
Perfect timing
@MatthewPeechWoodworking you're my favorite on UA-cam. Your instructions are cleR, concise and you make even intimidating things look approachable. Keep on rockin'!
This is wonderful..! I mean truly.....a question that I had been rolling around in the back of my mind🤔was, "In the process of 'leveling-up', 🤨🧐🤔which to purchase 1st, the Table Saw or the Miter Saw..!?? For my purposes, I was just unable to come to real decision that I could sleep well with.
Now, with JobSite table saw I have picked out, with an outfield table built really feel it's best step forward. 🤓🤠😎
Like always great stuff
I appreciate that
8:02 I have a similar one but I need to add those clamps/mechanism to it.
Thanks Man
I was trying to work out whether or not you could do some cove cuts with this jig, using the method that approaches the blade from an angle.
I love all of your projects,, you certainly have a knack for teaching! thanks for all your tutorials and info,, I would love to see you recreate , what they are calling Maine Garden Hods ,, it is a a very expensive item to buy and looks quite simple to make,, just not sure how you would attached the vinyl coated wire mesh,, they are also referred to East Coast Clam Collecting baskets they sell for $85-$200! I was thinking cedar would be a good wood to use for it light weight and weather resistance
Thanks for the suggestion and the support!
Nice job Matt
Thanks!
I’m wondering if it could be build with a runner and without the 1” piece to accommodate longer boards? It doesn’t seem like it would work for cutting pieces longer than 12” or so, depending on the angle? It’s a really amazing design though! Someone could use it to make a “quilt” out of wood!
Thanks!
Thank you!
Like the idea 💡 👌 😎
Thanks 👍
Nice!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Great video bud! I subscribed solely based on your great demeanor. I think you and I would get along just fine. I building that sled. I don't know if you can even call it a "sled" because it's just so simple. More like a super all-in-one beast. The more and more I watch these titanic sled videos, they more they look ridiculous. The MicroJig sled is the next best one besides this one. Peace
OMG i freaking LOVE this❤🎉❤ I am an absolute "beginner beginner"(like seriously a first timer lol I've still got to use my easy read tape measure) so anything with the words "miter" or "bevel" kinda scares the crap outta me but I'm thinking if I make this jig I would be able to easily figure out how to get those perfect mitered or beveled edges without the need for a Xanax afterwards LMFAO 😂 jk but the anxiety is real when it comes to angels etc etc😂😂😂😂 so thanks again for another simple way to achieve the look I'm going for in any project❤ you truly are an awesome teacher ❤🍏
Thanks for this video, now please make one jig for a mitersaw😉
I really like the double stop/clamps idea. Less sure about using the fence as the guide instead of a miter bar because that so limits the usable length of stock. Great idea though!
That is genius👍🇬🇧🇬🇪🙋🏼♂️
I didn't spend thousands on my jointer! I have a Rigid floor jointer and it only cost 600 bucks, plus or minus! Great video, though. I'm gonna have to make that jig!
Hella useful!
Glad to hear!
Thanks - I’m making this. Got the clamps and toggles etc. What I can’t understand is why you need that edge strip? Surely having a straight edge on the board is enough?
I really like this. I plan to make one.
One mod I’ll likely make is to put a runner on the bottom. That way I can run it without the fence and allow longer stock for the other cuts. Is this a good or bad idea? Any dangers I’m not considering?
Edit… I realized the drawback of my idea. It limits the width of stock that can be jointed with the jig. Guess it would be a trade off.
What is a "runner"? I might know but not sure.
@@wizard2319 a strip that goes in the miter slot, like would be on a cross cut sled. Maybe I used the wrong word.
It is the width of the miter slot and attaches below the jig to allow the jig to run in the slot with no fence.
I'm thinking the same thing. Also without the lip, which would allow for much longer stock when cross cutting.
