AvP 2010 was great. I love how you say it is a 6/10 but it had pretty much everything you wanted in an alien game in the human campaign. @Danny Morrissey Meh. Somehow THIS integration of Colonial Marines is Canon, as stated in Joe's review. And if you play to the certain when Winter finds a certain blindfolded guy, that's just cheap to be anyone but Hicks. In other words, this doesn't explain anything with his inclusion out of nowhere. Gearbox fck the whole game badly with weird storyline and clunky COD gamevibe that ain't fit. Throw in some chunks of Alien's references doesn't help either, as you have just pointed out.
If I remember correctly the Stasis Interrupted DLC shows that Hicks is pulled out of Cryo before being launched in the escape pod and is swapped with some generic random character you meet in the DLC and that’s who dies in Alien 3 not Hicks. But it’s all locked behind a PAID DLC
@@chaseyancey8824 It took me 2 seconds lol I never even bothered playing trough the campaign and I'm surprised it's Hicks and doesn't make sense at all lol.

I haven't tried the multiplayer. I did have some fun playing that game. Shitted my pants, when i heard Predator sound when i was Marine. and of course, the motion tracker.
Mr. Awesome AvP 3 was pretty cool!! Have you played the original AvP games? Man those games were creepy, atmospheric, and awesome!! If you havent I suggest you try them!! :D
I'm playing through Aliens VS Predators The Game (2010) right now and I'm amazed at how much better that game is compared to this. The aliens have actual AI, are better animated and the atmosphere of the game when youre playing as the marine is so much scarier. It even looks better in certain areas. It baffles me as to how badly they fucked this up >.
KingKongCompilation no idea why joe said it was a 6/10. The multiplayer is one of the best multiplayer games I’ve ever played and I never even played it with my friends, just randoms.
KingKongCompilation the campaign had 3 different storylines which was cool. I didn’t feel like multiplayer was unbalanced. The modes like the infection one were amazingly fun. Species tdm, mixed species tdm, etc.
KingKongCompilation The Predators were OP but I feel like people diss the marine faction. They can be a force to be reckoned with. Teamplay is essential. I smeared the floor with them in a big Species TDM.
Modder jamesdickinson963 was able to fix the game’s terrible AI behavior by simply correcting the typo “teather” to “tether” from the .ini file. This misspelling in the .ini file significantly hampers the capacity of enemy AI because it prevents important AI parameters from being loaded. My Document\My Games\Aliens Colonial Marines\PecanGame\Config\PecanEngine.ini correct by changing teather to tether, use ctrl+f to find it. Also same thing in DefaultEngine.ini in Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Aliens Colonial Marines\PecanGame\Config
Five years later, a spelling error was found to be responsible for the Xenomorph AI's failure in the game. It still doesn't explain the rest of the game's problems.
Overall bad writing, bad pacing choices, and a piss-poor ending. Oh yeah, the fact that Randy Pitchford praised it, and continues to defend it. Course, he wasn't known as much of an ass at the time; lol, it was THIS game that started that reputation. The fact that Jim Sterling continues to roast him at every opportunity doesn't help matters. I honestly don't blame the guy; he suffered a certain amount of professional disdain for the interview he did with Pitchford prior to the game's release.
That spelling error did mess up the AI, but apparently it was messed up beyond that. TemplarGFX fixed the typo, then went on to completely rework the AI, graphics, and sound to make a mediocre game actually decent. Can't fix the story but, damn, one guy fixing a game from a major studio is commendable.
@Dick Kickem I get the reusage of levels (even if it make sense given that all the campaigns are in the same general area and they intersect at points), but short length campaign? It's 12 to 15 hours, which is more than enough for a FPS.
Why isn't there a law making it illegal for gaming developers to lie like this about their game to their customers? Fucking sickening. Maybe if there was more work and actual care would go into the games but nope.
ConorChaos Because every dollar spent means more tax income for the mafia (government.) Advice - Stop buying new games unless that one-in-a-million game releases with no shady practices. Plenty of older games out there that are far superior to all the new cash grabs of this decade.
The developers and studios that made Ride to Hell Retribution, Aliens Colonial Marines, and No Mans Sky should all band together and purposely make a game as shitty as possible almost like a parody. Include ridiculous microtransactions, bugs (make them funny though) boring as shit gameplay, just a combination of everything we hate that makes a game bad. I'd pay 10 bucks for that. I'm confused. How do you downgrade animations? How does good animation, get downgraded? how? Why? It makes no sense. There's literally no reason to do so.
Agreed. If what they showed was real back then, then somebody must've been playing it on either a PC or a console, so why the need to downgrade when everything is up and running? The answer most likely is because it was pre-rendered footage designed to fool you into thinking it was real. Not good
There should have been an asymmetrical mode like Evolve where one person plays as a xenomorph and everyone else hunts him down. When the xeno player starts out, he's somewhat weak, but the more marines he kills, the more health he gets and the faster and stronger he gets. That creates a dynamic where players have to stick close to survive and hunt the alien down before it gets too dangerous.
+TheGrayMysterious good idea, but then all players would camp near each other and there would be no point unless if they were spawned in different parts of the map and the map was decently sized.

"Imagine like Amnesia mixed with Aliens. Holy shit that would be a game everyone would be talking about." And just like that Creative Assembly takes the burden to hopefully redeem the license and restore the Fans' faith.
CANNOT wait for Joe to review that and be EVEN MORE disappointed. It's shaping up to be a disaster already, more interviews with devs than gameplay in the trailers, lots of emphasis on Pre-Alpha in any gameplay that is shown, and worst of all Creative Assembly.
I just kept waiting for O'neil to die, he just had that face. You know the face of the character that gets dragged into a vent or pounced on and torn apart but nope he stuck through it the entire time. He just looks like one of those guys that you know is only in the game to die and add suspense but he surprised me after surviving three levels.
Oh don't get me wrong, I hated all of the characters but I hated O'Neil especially. He just looks like a side characters but is one of the main characters. And to be honest this entire game was started because that one marine went all bitch-fit and pulled out a grenade when that chestburster came out like he was some kind of evil cult leader and didn't want to die alone. The entire storyline has more holes in it than the red light district in Amsterdam, this game was clearly just a huge cash cow.
"HELLO MY BABY HELLO MY HONEY" I'm fucking dying XD that just was too perfect. 16:30 Joe perfectly describes a good chunk of Alien Isolation years before the game is revealed.

Funny how watching Alien Romulus in the theater brings me back to an old video I enjoyed 11 years ago from a content creator I had all but forgotten. I’m glad to be back, instant (re)sub.
The ending to the game was OBVIOUSLY sequel baiting. But with all the people who complained about the game, we aren't getting a sequel. We're getting Alien Isolation, which does look really good.
+Radical Larry They also made Borderlands and ported Halo to PC. How they fucked this up I will never know (oh sorry, Randy says we're not allowed to blame Gearbox, it wasn't their fault. Despite Sega saying Gearbox had full control)
One of the lines in code told the program to attach the alien to "teather" instead of "tether." With that fix the game as whole was, of course, still below expectations. However after modders removed that single letter, the alien AI got significantly better.
@@Xazamas there are more typos in the code, fixing a good chunk of the game and making it better by a good margin. there is two more "teather" in the code, and one capital A in "PecanGame", fucking even more the code. after that, suddenly the game becomes way better.
It's hilarious how Joe not only predicted Alien Isolation, but also Aliens: Fireteam Elite. He talks about wanting survival horror, and also how the co op is just tacked on here. He wishes that there were classes so you don't feel the exact same as your teammates. He got everything he wanted lmao
got out of basic and ait and one of the first things i did was finally go to gamestop and buy gears of war judgement day and aliens colonial marines. Two games i had been longing to play the entire time i was gone...imagine the disappointment i had that week
I'm surprised Joe didn't comment on the opening. Specifically how the very first Xenomorph the player encounters is in a quicktime event as it grapples the player; a few button presses and it is booted off and shot to death. You know, just one of those supremely deadly killing machines, approximately 7ft tall and possessed of razor-sharp claws and unsurpassed speed and strength, booted to the ground as though it were a drunken man attempting to give the player a hug. I think that this perfectly demonstrates the tone of the rest of the game, and how pathetic the Xeno enemies will be; mindless puppies skipping joyfully towards the player, their acidic blood doing barely any damage (compare that to the fantastic AVP games, not including the 2010 one, although even it does a better job than this), their supposedly fearsome close combat ability beaten by a quick rifle butt or two. Also, it was my experience that the AI companions (at least the guy at the start, whose name I have entirely forgotten. Was that O'Neil?) are absolutely devastating. It cripples any survival horror elements the game may have had (which it does not) to be able to simply stand behind an AI companion as he deals with all the aliens on his own. Also, "Winter, MOOOOVE!" is recycled over, and over, and over. Oh, and let's not forget how they try to be all suspenseful by having the female Marine describe what anyone with any knowledge of Aliens would immediately recognise as as a Facehugger attack. The player obviously knows that she is going to die from a chestburster in the near future - and yet the plot is written as though the writers thought this would be a great surprise. Yeah, it was a surprise - in 1979.

AvP 2010 was great. I love how you say it is a 6/10 but it had pretty much everything you wanted in an alien game in the human campaign. It's been years now, so let me just spoil this: the survived Marine whom Joe refers to is Hicks.
I sure was searching for this and couldn't seem to find the answer thank you I appreciate it.

Axl Jenkins yeah playing all three campaigns are fucking fun
KingKongCompilation Yep, it’s more fun to work together than going at it alone though.
RIP Bill Paxton. The Game is Never Over
And to think the Aliens would be much more difficult to fight had they not misspelled "tether".
Check out TemplarGFX ACM Overhaul v6. He completely reworked the AI, graphics, guns, sounds, textures... everything.
I find it funny how the main reason the alien ai was so shit was because of a typo in the games files and it was never patched xD
The Marine Campaign in 2010's Aliens Vs. Predator was twice as good as this At only half the length!
Why was it never patched?
Modder jamesdickinson963 was able to fix the game’s terrible AI behavior by simply correcting the typo “teather” to “tether” from the .ini file. This misspelling in the .ini file significantly hampers the capacity of enemy AI because it prevents important AI parameters from being loaded.
I thought AvP 2010 was a great game. It had more variety, better AI, better MP, better campaign, and less buggy in general.
@Dick Kickem I get the reusage of levels (even if it make sense given that all the campaigns are in the same general area and they intersect at points), but short length campaign? It's 12 to 15 hours, which is more than enough for a FPS.

I hated everyone except the Hicks and the pilot chick. Don't get me wrong though, this game is just ugh.

There was a typo in the game code, so one mistake ruined one part of the game
That is unbelievable the Ai of the game still run if it was Unity with Visual studio they would brick the game by not running the script entirely.
Thankfully the AI issues can be fixed on the PC. Apparently the AI problems are caused by a typo in the games code.
Ouch, Judgment as well? That's a double shit storm, sorry you had go to through that.
firefighter17687. Ouch both are garbage.
