I miss this game so much. Thinking back to playing it in 2005-2008 are so many incredible memories where I was so happy and excited to be alive. I so badly want to return to it and relive those memories and experience new ones, but every time I play again, I am so disappointed of what I am presented with. There is no longer any mystery to the game. I miss exploring the world of RuneScape with my friends, learning new training tactics and debating others about what the best training methods are. And then when I moved on to the pking scene, I missed there being tons of different account builds with no one truly understanding what they are doing. I miss taking breaks from training and pking to explore and take part in games like castle wars with friends. Even though the game has grown a lot since 2005 in terms of content that is available, it feels like it has shrunk immensely because most of the content now is dead content. I feel like I can't let go of RuneScape because of the strong impact it has had on my life and I always find myself wanting to return, but every time I do, there is nothing there to keep me playing because the game has so much less to offer me than it once did. I miss RuneScape and am not sure I will ever find anything like it again. It was an incredibly unique experience to have been able to play it in the mid 2000s.

ive been playing runescape since late 2001- early 2002. I watched it grow from Classic, with "Classes" before tutorial island came out. Back when you had to sleep in a bed to clear the fatigue so you can get more XP. Back when Woodcutting acted like how Mining does in OSRS. I have played OSRS , and RS3. It has most of my life. It is a piece of me. I will never forget the countless nights of just running barrows back with slayer/magic dart, i remember my first attempt at KBD with full rune, and the anti-dragon shield. I remember back when Castle Wars first was released, and not being able to play it until i was given members for my birthday in 2005. I couldnt recommend a better game.
Remember playing this a lot as a kid in the early 2000s. My brother hogged the computer most of the time, and played it with his mates from school. Remember going to school and asking your friends if they were jumping on runescape tonight. Then you'd get home, do your homework, then jump on. Good times.
The only person IRL I ever played this game with was my brother. He died in a wreck in 2019 and to this day when I get on this game it almost feels like a part of him is still with me. We played this game for years. I’m 27 now and we started in our preteen years lol. Love RS just wish it was what it used to be.
I'm telling you right now do not play this game there is a 50/50 chance you'll either find it extremely unappealing and boring or it will consume you for the rest of your life. There is literally no inbetween. You will never quit Runescape if you get properly into it. Maxed btw. Great video though.
Only way to quit is to ask jagex to disable your account and then really focus on doing the stuff you needed/wanted to quit for. You most likely will never come back and even if you do want to come back for a minute, the fact that you'll have to start all over again and lost everything you worked for should be enough of a reminder to why you decide to quit in the first place.
I was addicted to the MMO flyff as a preteen like 15 years ago. I don't have any desire to start a new one ever again, even if it's amazing. But I had to check out what the hell all the people talk about, the video did a good job
Ive been looking all night for which version of runescape to play and so far this is the onlyone that has given me some kind of an answer so might see me in runescape soon.
I just got my firecape. I gotta say that the advice you give here is pretty good. It's basically how I have looked at the game. There's always something to work on and 99 in a skill is sometimes just the beginning!
Can't lie, runescape was peak back in 2007 and 2006. So many fond memories of it years ago, but when osrs came out I played it for around 2 years. and almost maxed but got burned out and quit. Haven't bothered going back, but its a fun game to play and more so watch now a days.
One awesome part is; My account is 16 years old, yet I've only played 480 hours. I played when I was younger, took an 8 year break, played for a little while, quit for another 4 years and so on. You never fully quit the game. Also; Just after watching this video, I downloaded the game again, picked up my stuff and headed right to taverly dungeon to grind a little bit of ranged XP. Sometimes I stick around afterwards, sometimes I leave the game be for another period of time. There's something about it that just grabs me for a short while until I get on with my life again. Though that's just the case for me, a friend of mine, who started at the same time, never stopped and still has stuff to do. I will play Runescape for as long as it will exist, that's for sure.
i have roughly 350 hours in the game i started playing a couple months ago. i really like the game but all my friends that try to get into the game quit as soon as they realize it takes like 1000 hours (probably an over exaggeration) before they can start doing these end game bosses that look really fun, i personally havent done any yet myself but i am really looking forward to doing them. My least favorite part of the game is the quests, ik they are really good in this game and quest helper makes it really easy but i just hate quests in general, I wish i didnt have to do things like monkey madness, rfd, dragonslayer etc to be able to partake in these end game bosses, but i do see why it is necessary.
i mean 1000+ is not exaggerated maybe even more but the fun of osrs isnt the engame content i mean yeah its really fun but thats not the point its the way to the engame content the journey you could say as corny as it sounds but its true
18 years and going here. this game has saved my life as i deal with multiple psych disorders and this game is amazing for coping and giving a way to occupy time.
@@Turbo-DF I'm not 18. I got my psych issues from a traumatic brain injury I received on active duty in 2012. so try again to be edgy if it will fix your self esteem. 18 years and going is my time playing this game as i like most, discovered it as a child and took off and on breaks and got back into it.
I actually started playing OSRS again 2 weeks ago after 7 years away. Mostly wanted to try the ironman mode, particularly HCIM. Still not dead yet, but also still in early game at 1,200 total level. Runescape one of only four games I have over 20,000 hours in. Checked the defense pure I made around 7 years ago that is nearly a 99 maxed defense pure to see that it alone has 8,000 hours not even counting the decade and a half prior of other accounts over the years.
Started playing xmas 2020, great game. Just got max cape at around 5700 hours, now most of stuff left to do is my favorite, fighting bosses :) less go gimme the loot
I've created an account over 4 years ago but never played the game (didn't do the tuturial for that matter) now upon attempting to log on I told my account has been involved in serious rule breaking LOL
I have been trying to talk my friend group that ive gamed with for over 10 years to try runescape, but they all refuse merely based on silly memes on the internet and "how bad the graphics are". We have tried almost every other large MMO out, and all the trendy ones over the years like Lost Ark, New World, and others. But I always end up back on runescape. I enjoy its differences to how every other major MMO tackles things. Just wish I could get my friends to stop being so stubborn and close minded, because I know they would get hooked if they just gave it a fair shot
@@stayontrack If they have a problem with addiction then yeah, not recommended. But grinding on Runescape is far better than downing a tank of alcohol and wasting your savings in the club, so, idk let people do what they want with their lives haha. If you're doing the latter, no judgement, we're here for a fun time.
Playing since early 2004, and still as into it as I was when I was 12 years old. Obviously life gets in the way a little bit but I still spend a ton of hours a week playing it, it's the only game I play these days. Best game ever made, thousands of options at any minute, and as someone that originally hated ironman mode and ironmen in general, I now ONLY play ironman as it's SO satisfying. It makes the game feel new again, like I'm happy to get such little items that I took for granted.
@@alexanderulv3886 basically you just gotta earn your own stuff, you cant just buy gold etc, because you cant trade with others. No use of the grand exchange. PvM deaths are still safe ( you can run back and get ur stuff or collect them from deaths office) but ofc pvp deaths you lose stuff, but in pvp fights you cant loot other peoples stuff, so its more of a PvM build.
after about 22 years of playing i can confidently say that you will never find another game like this one. Not only that, yhis video was only focused on osrs, rs3 although hated by the osrs community for nostalgia reasons, has a shit ton of seperate content with a more active combat system if you like oushing shiny buttons and is actually a good game once you learn it. but i recommend starting with osrs and then giving rs3 a try later when you finally get hoiked
My goal has always been a QP cape. I originally got one on RS3 but eventually lost it when some newer quests came out (because the boss fight was bullshit) and now I'm pretty close on OSRS. Just a few big quests to go.
I played both runescape and wow as a kid, over the past 10 years I've tried to play wow but struggled to stick to it as the games pacing is too stretched with the dlc's and loss of progression every few months on gear. I found runescape to be far far more rewarding as it's generally a much better designed game. there isn't really any reason for you not to play the game as time progresses as the game doesn't really work like that. you can continue where you left off from an account you made 10 years ago and there isn't any race or pressure to get to end game like every other mmo.
OSRS is genuinely the best RPG I've ever played by far, let alone MMO. Even if all the servers shut down I would probably download a local server and play by myself. I tried to get my friends into OSRS and they always bring up 2 things, the graphics and the time investment. Saying OSRS has bad graphics is kind of a cope since these people still play games like Minecraft and Terraria, but the time investment I understand. My one friend has 2 jobs and a kid so he would only be able to play like 3 hours a week which isn't really enough time to do much of anything in OSRS.
I never got to game in my childhood so i wanted to make up for old times by trying osrs but I've never felt so lost in a game in my life😂 i had no clue what i was doing or where i was going the entire time
well it is elden ring or osrs. played some world of warcraft enjoyed that but after couple months it feels to much of a grind. osrs you have the option to grind or you can just afk and chill wat fits for most people. iron man is what produces the most nostalgia for me and is the most rewarding as i started playing in 2004 and seen the most of osrs already. iron man opens up allot of new ways to play the game which is the most rewarding for me. i dont think the golden days of 2004/2005 will ever come back but they are doing a amazing job of giving osrs some new life.
I remember my friend trying to get me into RS about 10 or so years ago and i disliked it back then (what an idiot i was) recently got into it so damn much its all i do 😂😂 i love it especially being a fan of player driven economy and thr fact that you can buy membership without draining your wallet (been playing a week now and already have enough for 2 more bonds😂) Love it ❤❤
If you get into runescape be careful. Do not click link for players in game. They can send you to copies of websites to steal your account. There is also tons of scams and lures. If something sounds to good to be true then it almost certainly is.
I have a main account lvl 98 from when I was in middle school. I hate the fact that in order for me to play I need to restart... I can't imagine doing agility or smiting alllll over again lol.. what's keeping me back
Deep in my heart, I still love this game but I refuse to play it. I do know but I don’t know why. Its so nostalgic that it makes me sad. It’s a waste of time but it’s so good. Even hearing the login screen music gives me a feeling I just can’t describe. I miss this game so much, but I just can’t play it. It’s a love/hate relationship. I remember the first time I ever saw RS was in 5th grade. It was 2005. I first played in 2008. I have so many feelings I can’t even type this anymore. I’ll just ramble. I’ve lived game life times on there. I’ve missed summers to play this game. I was addicted. I can’t play again bc I know the risk 😂. But RuneScape, you had my heart❤️
I know the feeling, reading your comment just after logging in again I think I'll take your advice and leave OSRS where it should be for me as well. Nostalgia
I still feel like they could update osrs graphics with keepiing it old school. dont make it look like rs3 just make the graphics look a lot crisper. feel like the game needs that
Oldschool runescape is the greatest game ever created. No game has made me sink as many hours into it as this game has. I have like 350~ hours on my group ironman. Probably around 4-5k~ hours on my main.
@@Crabbadabba of course, depends when you found it, how much time you spent on it, and what it made you feel at the moment. Lot of variables but Jagex knew what / still do know what they’re doing on creating an addictive game
I doubt this game will ever gain a large number of new players, but it's not like it needs to. It serves its purpose fine as is. People who are still playing at this point are obviously in it as a hobby for life, so It will still be around many years into the future almost certainly.
I can't play ain't got bond but still got a lot of members items in bank that I can't sell, and I don't have car to get a card to buy members so I guess I'll never get to play again
The problem I have is that no one I know plays it and the learning curve is so high that constantly going to the wiki is tiring. I want a friend who already knows what they are doing and who can guide me through things. 10/10 grind though.

@@eliasmyer1160 yeah i was getting that feeling
U can afk combat for 100 hrs then do bossing
Bosses wernt even in the game back in the day its super fun even if you dont fight bosses imo
18 years and going here. this game has saved my life as i deal with multiple psych disorders and this game is amazing for coping and giving a way to occupy time.
Good shit brother same here. Let’s go do toa if you want
sorry about your parents, maybe if they spent time developing themselves instead of playing runescape theyd have been able to give you a proper life
@@Turbo-DF where do you see the words parents? trust me they don't play runescape
you basically say youre 18 and wanna die thats not great parenting if anything
@@Turbo-DF I'm not 18. I got my psych issues from a traumatic brain injury I received on active duty in 2012. so try again to be edgy if it will fix your self esteem. 18 years and going is my time playing this game as i like most, discovered it as a child and took off and on breaks and got back into it.
Started playing in 2020, I love this game so much
Stopped playing in 2006 so missed the 2007 hype but still gonna try and get back into it.
I actually started playing OSRS again 2 weeks ago after 7 years away. Mostly wanted to try the ironman mode, particularly HCIM. Still not dead yet, but also still in early game at 1,200 total level. Runescape one of only four games I have over 20,000 hours in. Checked the defense pure I made around 7 years ago that is nearly a 99 maxed defense pure to see that it alone has 8,000 hours not even counting the decade and a half prior of other accounts over the years.
man i hope your pure is maxed after 8000 hours lol
i still play this after 18 years in memory of my cousin, so many memories of this game. ❤
I started playing TODAY, I'm loving it!
nicest thing in osrs even every holiday items u can still get even if its way way back
Best game I've ever played in my life. I'm nearly 20 years in. Still love and play it!
Great quality! Your channel is so small and you're doing great, keep up the good work and you'll get big
Started playing xmas 2020, great game. Just got max cape at around 5700 hours, now most of stuff left to do is my favorite, fighting bosses :) less go gimme the loot
Nice video good job glad this blew up the way it did.
Use to play this when I was 14 with my younger brother. Going to log back in soon and see whats new :)
You are insanely underrated, you deserve much more subscribers. Good luck on your journey!
I truly love this game and the friendships I've made thru it ❤❤
What a quality video - you're incredibly skilled at making videos!
First time seeing your channel, super chill content! Hope to see more - subscribed
After seeing a freind get addicted to this game I will respectfully decline
lmao just have to control yourself
respectable and propably wise
Homie you just have to come and get addicted like us it’s okay
Then why are you even watching RuneScape videos?
That's actually really weird.
@@michaelj4256 To learn more about what it is and why his friend became addicted to it?
I've played during 2004 and 2006, came back in 2017. This game did what WoW will never make me do: come back after quitting.
I've created an account over 4 years ago but never played the game (didn't do the tuturial for that matter)
now upon attempting to log on I told my account has been involved in serious rule breaking LOL
Maybe you can get them to use Runelite with the hd graphics plugin, it's honestly such a step up.
@@cliff1745 oh I’ve tried that, they just simply refuse sadly.
RuneScape knew that quests and PvP were the most fun parts of the game and made sure to make those better than the other MMOs.
Trust me it's better for them that you DO NOT make them hooked on this crap.
@@stayontrack If they have a problem with addiction then yeah, not recommended. But grinding on Runescape is far better than downing a tank of alcohol and wasting your savings in the club, so, idk let people do what they want with their lives haha. If you're doing the latter, no judgement, we're here for a fun time.
ive been playing this on and off since i was in middle school and absolutely love the game.
Returning to OSRS, thankyou for the video - checking out infernal dream now
Been playing runescape for 20 years now. Always take a break and come back.
Do you play OSRS Ironman, and what are the rules?
ironman makes you learn the game. your accomplishments feel way more valuable too. Its a genius implement by Jagex
You have gained a sub bro!
First video I’ve watched of yours, great content 👍
I highly recommend leveling RC in Guardians of the Rift and Smithing through Giants fouuundry:D!
after about 22 years of playing i can confidently say that you will never find another game like this one.
I love how I have 10 thousand plus hours of OSRS experience and have been playing since 2004 and UA-cam is like “nah check this shit out”
Always progressing your account, one exception is the Bank Standing skill :P
Great vid! I do wish I could play with a chill clan or some sht, none of my irl friends play anymore.
After playing the game since 2005, I can most definently say that Runescape is a game
Been playing since 2003. turning 30 this year 😂 on and off of course. Ya never truly quit
18+ years in and I still love osrs and rs3 (more so osrs)
got blorva, infernal, and many pets, within a year period, doesnt matter how much you play, it depends how much you want to achieve
I havent ever played, but its been playing me for 20 years.
I am a bit late to the party but I dig this. Great video :D Definitely will check out your other series.
There is only one way to play that is considered "wrong".
And that is picking fighting boots in the stronghold of security. #ColorfulBootGang
My goal has always been a QP cape. I originally got one on RS3 but eventually lost it when some newer quests came out (because the boss fight was bullshit) and now I'm pretty close on OSRS. Just a few big quests to go.
I wanna play but I can’t keep up with the membership, like certain skills can’t be leveled without it smh.
osrs is the greatest MMORPG in my opinion. It's the only game I've managed to never quit in the past 16-17 or so years.
I never played it, grew up on WoW, should I try it in current year?
Never hurts to give a game a shot I’ve started a year or so ago don’t play too often but the game is definitely a grind if you like games like that.
No. WoW is more fun/better!
I never got to game in my childhood so i wanted to make up for old times by trying osrs but I've never felt so lost in a game in my life😂 i had no clue what i was doing or where i was going the entire time
The music does it for me!
well it is elden ring or osrs. played some world of warcraft enjoyed that but after couple months it feels to much of a grind. osrs you have the option to grind or you can just afk and chill wat fits for most people. iron man is what produces the most nostalgia for me and is the most rewarding as i started playing in 2004 and seen the most of osrs already. iron man opens up allot of new ways to play the game which is the most rewarding for me. i dont think the golden days of 2004/2005 will ever come back but they are doing a amazing job of giving osrs some new life.
If something sounds to good to be true then it almost certainly is.
playing this game because it helped to destress me from a highly stressful job.
I was there in 07, I was there.
Great quality video!
Nostalgia
@@joshuamadden2442 love that. its best to live the real life
I just wish i could play 2008 HD runescape
“The greatest game ever created” is a STRETCH 😂
who doesnt love clicking a tree repetitively for 50 hours
@@studiogimli7645 😂 right??
"you are almost always progressing your account"
Meanwhile me, bankstanding and -watching this video.
'Almost' doing a lot of work there
I still feel like they could update osrs graphics with keepiing it old school. dont make it look like rs3 just make the graphics look a lot crisper. feel like the game needs that
Oldschool runescape is the greatest game ever created. No game has made me sink as many hours into it as this game has. I have like 350~ hours on my group ironman. Probably around 4-5k~ hours on my main.
im a newcomer and never played it and finished monkey madness 1 this week and neveer did i feel more accomplished in a game ever
Gratz on beating monkey madness! Huge progression for a new account there, good luck on your gains ;)
I was playing RuneScape before I could read.
The best game of ALL TIME, BAR NONE! 😎😎💪💪
Also, Great video my guy! 👍
The 117 HD plug in from runelite is amazing or gpu plug in also nice
Great video brotha
get a life
Runescape will always be Runescape, but I think we all can agree you had to have been there in the early days
Nostalgia factor makes this game much more enjoyable to a variable degree which depends on how fond of it you were of it.
@@Crabbadabba of course, depends when you found it, how much time you spent on it, and what it made you feel at the moment. Lot of variables but Jagex knew what / still do know what they’re doing on creating an addictive game
Great video!
Bro why are you trying to lure people into the hell that is the addiction to RuneScape
boa, me convenceu a jogar logo todos temerão arroz e feijão1234 no pvp
1:33 the fact that we were THIS CLOSE To not pay for subcription makes me feel very fucking angry 😮💨
With all that being said, it's the only game I've ever played that the community prefers to just AFK it.
Hopefully this gets my irl friends to play...lol! thanks!
