The reason why I play RuneScape is to go back in time being young in my 14s how life was care free.. being excited to play after school with my friends and friends I made online we would literally chat outside the Lumbridge cast. I remember how my sister use to play this also.. after her passing away from cancer... I just can’t let this game go.. the lumbridge area just hits me hella hard because that’s where my sister and I would be fighting cows, goblins.. i just can’t seem to let this game go :( it’s comforting to know part of my childhood is just a simple keyboard log in 😞

I was an introvert all through junior school and tbh.. a heck of a lot of my childhood was screwed.. RuneScape was what made at least some part of my childhood great. from falling to doubling money scams to fishing lobsters at Karamja to buying my first ever Black scimitar from the swords shop at alkharid to peaking through the Taverly gate wondering how great the members' worlds are... the list goes on and on.. I don't just love RuneScape, I breathe and adore RuneScape. it's my childhood and I'm forever grateful to the Gower brothers for creating this awesome game.
I usually quit Runescape for periods of time ranging from 6 months to 4 years, but every single time I do, I still think about Runescape like every couple days. The will to play never leaves, it just simply goes dormant.

The only reason I stopped playing Runescape is because my mom stopped paying for internet for 3 YEARS because of my "runescape addiction." I only got an hour of play time per day, and my mom would time me. I would wake up at 2 or 3 am while my mom was asleep and mine rocks at Varrock. What a good feeling. Mining silver in Varrock as a kid was just a feeling I can't describe.

I started playing Runescape in November of 2003. Played it when I was like 12 years old.. I am now 29. Really do enjoy it doe, can't find myself staying on other games for long because the real enjoyment in Runescape is the sandbox aspect, where you make your own goals and adventures. Truly timeless.
For me, it's to try to recapture my childhood. I just want to relive those innocent, more simple times, when Runescape felt like a magical world, a place where I could go on grand adventures and just have a lot of fun. It's not the same now, but I just can't quit. I may stop playing for a couple of years at a time, but I can't stop myself from coming back. I've been playing on and off for over 15 years now... Just hearing the music makes me wish I could go back to 2005, and suddenly I find myself in that world once again.

I started playing runescape over 11 years ago I was like 14. I remember sneaking to play up until 3-4am on the big body dell computer in the living room which I felt sounded like a vacuum when I turned it on 😂

I started playing runescape with friends back in 09. I dont play much anymore but when i hear the login screen music i instantly think back to chilling outside lumbridge castle and moonwalking by the alkarid entrance, the community makes this game amazing so many memories.

There may be life situations like living with certain illnesses or being crippled, that forces you to be at home on your own without anything else to do, or people to socialize with. I stopped playing rs when I was 12 and though I’d never bother to play it again. In high school I’d get back into it and play for a week or two every couple years but didn’t really get back to it. Then sometime when I was 26 I got really back into it and still a year and a half later I play it constantly so yeah you only take breaks in rs.
I love playing Runescape, and I cherish the few times in my life I have to play it. This pandemic is one of them

I started playing again last year after having not touched RuneScape in over a decade. I built an account my pre-teen self never even thought possible, but I got bored with standing at the GE performing the same actions over and over again to skill and turn a profit. I decided that I wanted to try my own spin on the iron man deal: it can only use whatever it can make (outside of items that cannot be created by a player, in that case it must be obtained as a drop or found in the world) and interact with NPCs only as they relate to quests. It's been a breath of fresh air and I've had more fun with that account than I've had with my main in a long time.

Stormwind in WoW, Lion's Arch in GW2, Limsa Lominsa in FFXIV, Imperial/Republic Fleets in SWTOR, you'll find so many players just standing around in these places because it's just simply what they like to do. Not everybody wants to be active playing the game.

You've said a couple times now that you'd like to branch out more from only RuneScape content. I think this format of you, on a greenscreen, with a microphone is your breakaway style. I can't think of anyone else with that setup. For me, you holding the mic really sets it appart for some reason.
I think after some time you can just stand there with your mic and talk about whatever you want with any topic floating around you in the background. Looking forward to whatever you produce!

It's a style copied from General Sam, who made it big using this style for Escape From Tarkov. Makes sense since J1mmy did a Tarkov video that he got the idea from Sam.
This is a great video. I played for about 5-6 years from middle to highschool. Came back when OSRS came out, for about maybe 3 months. I haven't played now in a few years but I still check my main account from time to time... I also have passwords for like 5 other random accounts and who knows what happened to those.

I'm watching this praying that it'll convince me to finally come back. Rarely a day passes where I don't think about it, but I haven't regularly played since 2016. Miss this shit so much.
I finally made my goal. I started back in Runescape Classic when it was hosted on the Jagex website with only 3 servers.
After "Quiting" the game a few times I finally back in 2019 (its all a blur really) got all 99's. I was so happy I could move on that I held a 200m drop party and finally quit for the last time.
Some months later something happened that made me worry for my future.
I heard a new skill came out...
Ya I will never escape this game.
Quitting is not an option, we just take extended brakes.

Played this game for years on OSRS but had to quit when I realized I'm wasting my time grinding on that game. Still addicted to video games and unable to get myself to do productive stuff as consistently as I want to, but I'm not so hardcore invest as I was with runescape.
I think we all realized this. I started playing this back in middle school. That was 2003-2004. Haven't touched it in a year. As you say, I'm still into video games, but ladies and money take most of my time. No regrets my friend.

not me. the grinding is ridiculously long and you dont even get decent rewards. rewards are based on lucky drops. runescape is garbage and I cannot believe I wasted 1000+ hours on it.

I started my runescape Account in around 16-17 years ago, would this automatically grant my account as a hard core Ironman dude or since I've died multiple times atleast a Ironman dude?
It's hard to argue against the "it's just a break rule" when I took a 4.5 year break and ended it a month ago.

i started playing a few years ago when i was a sophomore in high school and ngl i wish i knew about this game when i was a kid, it seems like so many people have so much nostalgia for this game
I got back into RuneScape when old school released on mobile, had quit at EOC and didn't hear about the new 2007 version till then. Since I started again this account is me living out all the dreams I had for an account as a disorganized adhd kid. it's easy to hop on and off, quests are fun now, and I'm all decked out and have a chill clan to play with. This game is something I always come back too, and few things are more relaxing than settling down for a few hours in RS on the weekend, just like when I was a kid. I will always have a place in my heart for RuneScape, and I've never grown tired of the good ol point and click game. I've played other games, I've left for long periods... but my account always has goals to shoot for, and my progress is always waiting for me to add to it. RuneScape has a unique charm and an engaging player base. in my opinion old school is still the gold standard for an MMO. it ain't flashy, but it's a story and adventure that never ends... and isn't that exactly an MMO should be?😊 also I totally agree with you on the "xp waste" crew. that is toxic AF for a game you play for fun, I'll figure out efficient methods to train on grinds, but who needs a plan for all that crap? it's an easy way to make a fun experience boring and horrible
I've also wondered for a long time what the draw is that keeps you coming back.
I'm currently a 27 year old adult man with 3 Children. A home purchase in progress and interests in various activities (biking, working out, snowboarding etc.) And I find myself watching youtube videos on a game that I haven't played in something like 8 or 9 years.
My life was pretty fucking boring as a kid not much to do at all in my home and now as an adult I can see that I'm an extremely goal oriented person who enjoys the grind. I'm constantly striving to improve in so many different areas in my life. Whether it be as a Father as a partner. Financially, Physically. I have an almost obsession with self improvement and the development of "skills."
Its my belief that runescape was an outlet for that drive in me. That drive and hunger for improvement while I was living in a world that didn't give me much opportunity to fully explore it.
The question you asked here really is a legitimate question that needs asking. Among many others.

I downloaded runescape for the first time a month ago! I had this idea that I would only upgrade my magic skill. Turns out it’s a whole thing called mage pure! It’s been a fun grind
The analogy at the beginning actually made me feel nauseous and forced me to log off. This is a pretty powerful message if you look past all the jokes you made. Time to see if I'm able to make a change.

I started playing RS in 2002 and quit in January of 2019. I’m 30. I still watch the videos. So all that to say, it ain’t ez. But you can do it! You just need to actively say no

And now we've come full circle because "you winning?" is an appropriate question and "having fun?" is not. My kids won't touch MMOs and in hurts my soul. It's all about the shooters now :(
