Great guest.
Very interesting. This has become one of my favorite podcasts. Love the open dialogue and the attention to nuance. I did not know of this guest and I enjoyed hearing his insights.
So this is what they kicked out the Regz for? Smh
Can we take back the word liberal? It means what it means
Noam finally has a guest who conflates anti Zionism and antisemitism which are not the same.
What about the scholarly historians such as Ilan Pappe and so many others?
I'm sad we never got to Jamie's thoughts about Elizabeth's interview...
The combination of lack of knowledge and lack of self-awareness is astounding.
Absolutely right. Wait, who are you talking about?
Everything. Morons.
Right wing grifters don't care. It's just about propaganda working or not.
I like listening to Noam’s thoughts.
What do we think about Trump's letter to Erdogan?
Charlotsville was a bigger deal in our culture because of the historical context of African Americans in thr United States. All this country does is support Israel. We fully fund there military operations without and red lines. I want israelis and Palestinians to live in peace. There is no military solution to this problem. A political solution must be found for the long term security of Israel.
Aipac never seems to get brought up?
Not sure if teachers should get paid more? - I have 2 college degrees and teach science.( which our society needs more of) Most of the teachers I know have second jobs just to get by. Why should someone get as much education as a lawyer and make 20% as much? Teachers are quitting in droves. We are becoming an educational third world - good luck with that
Noam is the GOAT
You are going to complain what unions do to prices? Really? what about the insane rise in management and
ceo wages? The 1% owns 90+% You really think they work that hard? GMAFB
I don't think America is that much better at integrating immigrants than Europe, it's just American immigrants are mostly Catholics from Latin America and Europe has imported Moslems from North Africa and South and West Asia. One group already has Western values and the other doesn't and for the most part has no interest in learning them.
That USED to be true. Have you been paying attention to immigration in the last couple of years. Apparently you have not been paying attention. We’re in trouble now too.
I just heard a quote from the late Christopher Hitchens.
“Barbarians never take a city. People just hold the door open for them.”
That’s chilling
John fetterman and richie torres? This guy just lost all his credibility.
Noam had clearly made an echo chamber with these guest and commenters. Glad he has a hug box, weak minded people need that.
Did you not see the last episode?
@@SasamiNoKebabHouse Yes, that's literally why I said what I said. If you watched it, you would agree that Norm was insufferable to his guest. However, you are ideologically aligned with him, so I assume you won't see his interruptions and how he attributed positions to his guest that she didn't hold, as if she believed the things he was spouting. He reminds me of every old man who thinks their lived experience has led them to the 'right' answer, so everyone should live and think the way he does.
@@blakesandry7325 "He reminds me of every old man who thinks their lived experience has led them to the 'right' answer, so everyone should live and think the way he does."
You for real? You just perfectly described that insufferable windbag from the last episode. You two seem like you'd get along.
@@wombatmats thank you for proving my point. Hug box
Yup. exactly.
75.5 minutes and the word "#occupation" never even accidentally slips in.
Bravo, Nudniks. 👏
It’s not an occupation. The word is only used by those who don’t know that Gaza was practically a “Palestinian” (sic) state and that Israel itself has been occupied by many over the millennia but the Jews were indigenous, never occupiers. They lived there, purchased land from the ottoman Turks and absentee Arab landlords, and won land in defensive wars. You have fallen for propaganda and are unaware of the facts.
@@patriciakimball8150 Nice pre-historic justification. Join the post-Nuremberg World.
Israel* has.
* No declared international borders; no national constitution
Have you considered bringing on Sam Harris? It seems pretty clear, based on your stated views that you are to the right of Harris when it comes to Trump. Your, dare I say, ambivalence to a 2nd Trump term would be a good conversation to have with Harris.
At minute 1:00:00 they talked about the gaza war as Civilisation vs Barbarism. This is colonial talk. The settlers are a civilizing force for good, and the natives are savages. This is classic.
It’s also evident
Have you ever considered that colonialism can be a good thing?
Look at India
@ross7668
If you read Indian school textbooks, they teach their children to hate the British Raj. This is what is taught about zionism I'm Indian school textbooks.
Gandhi's critique of Zionism and his belief that Jews should seek to coexist peacefully with other communities rather than pursue a state in Palestine.
@ross7668
Indian school textbooks quote Ghandi. He said the Jews should stay in Europe and work things out rather than colonize Palestine. Every Indian school child is brought up knowing this.
Israel is the opposite of a colonial enterprise. Maybe you should look up the definition of colonialism and what the Jews of Israel have done. And, yes; the Islamists truly are savages-have you not been paying attention? And I will brook neither a comparison to British colonialism in India nor a defense of it.
100%
It's crazy no one can see through the obvious propaganda.
At minute 45:00 Hamas to Nazi is a bad analogy. The Russians defeated Nazi Germany. The US then put mid level Nazi in charge of west Germany. These mid level nazi main enemy were Russia. So how to do that in Gaza? That nazi analogy fails.
It wasn't Russia who defeated Nazi Gernany. It was a coalition of USSR, USA and UK who did that. And after the war, it was east Germany which accommodated ex Nazis, not the west
I don't know how to say what my reaction was
Trump absolutely would NOT have pulled out of Afghanistan like Biden did. He intended to keep Bagram AFB and he would never have left equipment. And he consulted with Erik Prince (Blackwater) re maintaining a small private professional force there. That’s what Trump wanted to do but his generals nixed it.
Yes, indeed: DO vote for Trump.
Moving to Israel would be the ethical thing to do, instead of forcing the rest of us to love Israel.
😂 Fetterman/Torres 😂
Oy vey 🤦
What? They are proud patriots lol
What is the argument for the average American supporting Israel? You guys are pro-Israel, but why should Americans go along with that?
Please make the argument. I sincerely don't get it.
Also, should all Americans get to choose a backup country? I've never thought about it till recently. Israel, would not be my choice.
Their argument is that Israel is fighting for the west in a sea of savages. If Israel goes down then the savages will be at the gates of Europe and even row across the US and arrive at the gates of NY. To me, this is nonsense.
I would say the “average” American argument is that we support democracy. We believe it to be the most benevolent and ethical form of government. Most people would also argue that Israel helps to stabilize the region, which is in our national interest in countless ways, and we can rely on them to be mindful of those interests when they act. You can layer on many other reasons from there. Christian’s believe Israel must be Jewish for the Messiah to show up. Many people believe we have an ethical duty to ensure Israel survives given the Jews’ historic persecution wherever they were a minority. Some people view Israel as an anti-imperialist, indigenous rights project.
@@joge2468
The portrayal of Israel in American media often highlights its democratic nature and the existential threats it faces. This portrayal can engender sympathy and support among the American public.
You don't support empire?
@eemoogee160
US empire is not a classical empire.
