- The two month long saga of ordering body armor from Safelife defense in Las Vegas Nevada. Decided to buy the concealed vest with IIIa+ protection at nearly $600 and two rifle rated hard ceramic plates at another $200 plus. Size chart suggests 2XL to 3XL so I ordered the 2XL. decided against the package with the tactical vest included. Waited a week and suddenly they send me an email featuring their new fras plates so I cancel the heavy rifle plates and add the fras rifle plates, another $800 or so, the pair are $950! I wait... and wait. Nothing for a month and a half. Then they put the package on sale suddenly so I say why don't you tell me about these upcoming sales you know are coming. No reply so they apologize and throw in the tactical vest to even the deal. Still nothing for another week or more. After talking to a dozen different reps and getting the same runaround everything is on order I'm getting more than frustrated. Finally I say wtf and then the vests and plates are shipped... by ground and it takes a week! Open the vests and they're way too small so their fitting chart is nonsense. I suggested the 6XL a couple weeks earlier since it said ships the same day and they said no, that would be way too big. When I say I'm sending the 2XL back they say, you need a 6XL! I'm guessing it's on the shelf and they want to get rid of them. In the meantime the plates show up. I'm told as soon as they have the fedex shipping number they'd overnight the vests to me for which I pay an extra $50 for the larger vests and over $70 for shipping! So now it's all costing me over $1600! They fail to ship. No answers for another week. Then I'm told somebody can't find who told me they'd ship immediately but the vests are returned last Friday and they'd ship the replacements same day. No notice, no word, no tracking number. Again no answers on the phone or emails. So I call for the last time on Monday and I'm told they shipped and were delivered the previous Saturday. NO NOTICE to me. Unreal. Terrible customer service, just blowing smoke up our asses, they say anything to get you off the phone. So what happens? The 6XL IS TOO SMALL STILL! THEIR SIZING CHART IS BULLSHIT. I don't think I want to go through all this again so here's a video describing my ordeal and trying to adjust the latest vests I was sent. I will cut this into 2 or 3 videos because it ended up being over a half an hour long!
Your lucky to find a company that was willing to make you a custom plate and plate carrier. If your a 6×L then you need to loose some weight. It's not the companies fault . Your that big.. I have bought two and never had not one single problem. I have asked questions a year after my purchase and they answered all of my questions. Not trying to be a jerk . But it's you not them. And yes everyone needs to adjust their vest!
How about leaving one comment instead of 500? I returned the safe life crap and went with national body armor direct comfortable super flexible lightweight and it actually fits and the side panels overlap so you don't have to buy more which is a scam.
It's not the sizing chart.. your just shaped different

It’s body armor man! It’s not a tank top. It stops bullets . It’s not going to be something super comfortable! Go wear a military plate carrier than put this on. You’ll love it. In my opinion your bitching is un called for. Rather there Ali’s a learning curve to putting it on by yourself. It’s will take time to break in to fitting around your body. All those adjustments don’t come instant.
I’m a big dude 6’3” 275 and I bought a 4xl and mine fits like yours. Naturally I have a large chest but could lose some weight in the midsection. It’s not there fault we are big.
My dads fit fine, my uncles fit fine. It sucks that it didn’t ft how you thought in your mind! lose some weight and reep the benefits of the product. Wait for you to see the other company’s out there. Good luck!

I finally sent it all back after months dealing with that company and got my money back but lost some on the shipping. I went with body armor direct out of Florida and had three vests for the price of one and they fit great they actually overlap and cover you completely. One of them is actually a tactical vest I put the frass plates into and then ordered a new set of Safestop top of the line level IV HA plates and got a free tactical vest with those. Had everything within days and could not be happier.

Well you spend your day sitting in that suit of armor safe Life crap. I ordered more from national body armor direct and it's lightweight pliable comfortable everything that safe life is not.
Well I’m a large and I ordered a large and it fits me perfect, like it was taylor made.
because you have a 6xl short and the other ones u had was a short. and most people that wear a 2xl don't have a beer gut like that so it fits them.
I went with a different company and finally got vests that have complete coverage and are comfortable. Safe life is a scam their stuff is made in China and it stiff as a board.
You have never worn steal plates before.. trust me it's the most comfortable. It rides up because your stomach is pushing it up.. just be honest with yourself and loose the weight. I was 265 lbs. now down to 186 lbs. If I can do it so can you! My vest fits perfect. As for you weapon have to tuck your vest in or use a different one
Buy the side plates
I think sizing is correct but safelife does not have enough cummerbund to overlap. You really have to be skinny to have anything overlap.
You have the wrong size. I am 350. Mine fits fine. You need 7XL like me. There products are awesome. This video is not what I found
im 5p8 190 lbs and i got a Medium....it fit perfectly....a little little bit tight, but easy ajustable with strap.
I personally dislike the design of safelife defence body armor, the carriers in my opinion are awful, the armor itself is great and honestly second to none in terms of protection, the stiffness in the panels will be the stab layer. I personally prefer the mehler vario System for my covert vests, much more hidden under even the thinnest T-shirts and such.
I love mine its not a linen suit i weigh 220 at 5,10 2xl is good

I am 5 ft 10 and 220 lbs and 3 XL is too small. So I ordered the side panels ..... They need to refine their sizing chart.

well...I just got my vest....waited only 4 day, and im from Canada, good size (Medium)......no error....just 1 thing.....if you are overweight, it doesn't matter who, it's obvious that the vest will be less designed for you....
Their vests are hard as a rock it's ridiculous. Turns out they're actually from china. I ordered one from national body armor and it's nice and pliable and fits perfectly and actually overlaps at the waist. I just ordered another set half price in their absolutely lightest material, 450 bucks! Got some trauma pads for my rifle rated plates half price as well.
Man you are a big dude period, they take returns until it's right for free. Anyway, the 3A+ has been great for me. I had a partner stabbed with a 3A plus on and it stopped the knife, another officer was shot twice with a regular 3A vest on by safe life defense with a 357 sig and made it to return fire and stop his attacker. Our department issues point-blank armour which we don't trust because of a pass through up close.
Lastly if you buy the 5-inch panels it will solve your issue.
I returned all of it because they lie about where it's made it's from china. I've got a couple sets from national body armor direct now in Florida and they're not only comfortable n lightweight they treat you right and the panel's overlap so you don't need side panels. I just ordered another set plus some trauma pads for half price 50% off right now.
I've worn my 3A Plus vest from safe Life for 2 years and I feel so much safer with it it's not about comfort it's about safety
Their body chart is accurate. But it’s meant for in shape people.
Concealable Body armor is and was never intended to be bought off size charts. It’s supposed to be custom for the each individual person.
If you have a legit need for body armor spend the money for a legit brand and go to a rep and they will size you, in like 10 different areas and then the panels will either be made to fit that size or the best panel size already made will be used that fits within the needed measurements.
If you have a big belly, you may need a shorter vest to keep it above the belly since panels are not made to be a skin tight fit and conform to every curve of your body. Having to go around a large belly, will cause issues up top. Just like how it doesn’t sit flat on yours at the bottom. It also will prevent it from riding up.
Like I said, if you have a legit need for body armor, and your life depends on it. Don’t buy cheap crap, regardless of what videos show. Spend the money and get it made for you. Why put a cheap budget price on your own life?
Get a vest that’s NIJ rated and certified where the companies got their stuff rated and it’s actually certified. SafeLife is not certified nor rated.
I ended up getting body armor from national body armor direct in Florida. Lightweight and comfortable and the panel's actually overlap on the sides. I just ordered their lightest body panels for half price and trauma pads for my rifle rated plates.
You have to carry out side carry
You have to make it tighter.. it took me a few times to get it right. Ask you wife or a family member to help you
Your straps are not square/ straight for one
You need to get in shape first
Well since I'm facing back surgery I kind of have to now. Doctor told me to stop eating grains and anything made with grain and he was right. I've already dropped about 10 or 15. Thank you for your concern he said with an ironic smile.
Just a quick update since I'm wasting time looking at the UA-cam's I had ended up in the hospital after this sick as a dog and then went through lumbar laminectomy back surgery a couple months ago and stopped eating grain, bread, pasta and crap like that and have dropped 20 lb and counting without insulin because they said I was diabetic. Just changing my diet I'm no longer diabetic and expect to lose another 20 or so pounds, A1C went from 7.9 to 6.2 now.

5 KEY TAKE AWAYS FROM THIS REVIEW
1. Your big you should try getting in shape.
2. its fresh out the box even if you where skinny the vest still has to be broken in i wore mine for a day around the house and it molded to my body by day2.
3. If your to big and dont plan on working out they sell side panels to cover the gap.
4. They have multiple videos showing how to wear the armor but instead of learning for 3min you jump right in and claim the fitting is wrong🤦🏾♂️
5. Dont make videos trashing armor when you clearly have no experience this is a horrible review.
