The reality show aspect is a bummer. In my opinion, it would be cooler and have a different and more positive and fresh vibe-as well as a learning vibe(for the audience)- if they all stayed and got judged on each painting and in the end an overall winner was chosen.
I totally agree. Instead of bringing a potential division I vote for unity! where every ones work is judged in all aspects and let the contestants each judge value each other contestant showing how they look to judging themselves- and read annonomously. Then a secret ballot where each could vote on a winner of anyone else but themselves. After the judges do same announce winner - then see how the contestants judged retrospectively. Did they make any sence? Lol
I agree. I would rather see how people grow than see someone thrown off because they had an off day or the heat was too much or it just wasn’t their subject matter.
SUFFERING FOR YOUR ART IS NOT: "experts" making you painting in blinding sun because "outstanding artists should be able to paint anywhere" and comment about people being sunburned... Every painting looked like a black velvet poster - through no fault of the artists. The sun is blinding and you paint darker with harder contrasts. Subtle touches are lost. Love to see more art shows - bummed they think the only way to make it exciting is abusing the competitors.
Love a good contest show. Surprised though at how all of these women have such a similar style. Maybe all graduates of Milan Art Institute? It is going to make it even more exciting to see how they distinguish themselves going forward. 👏 👏
I really loved Naomi's Hephaestus piece. The colors are amazing, and I feel like the judges missed the fact that Hephaestus isn't meant to have a proportional face...it was why he was cast out of Olympus. The proportions felt intentional to me to represent him in the beauty of his imperfections.
Well said! Losing the essence of the piece. That's not allowing an artist to create from their heart. But if he sells it and makes money, what's the harm. Compromise sometimes is needed when you have others dictating how your art should be. Defeats the whe purpose of expression.
I thought it was amazing too. So powerful & vivid & I think you’re right about the asymmetry of his face. More representational than just drawing a withered leg or a cane 🤷♀️ Although would have loved to see a close up of the details
@@margaretpinsent6388Interesting - but again that rawness of the piece to me captured the essence of him as a god of blacksmithing, craftsmen, fire, volcanology etc. There were some pieces that I didn’t know which god they represented, but hers was clear without spelling it out too obviously I thought
Getting to watch VERY talented and much more experienced artists share their confidence and self doubt when creating, I fully appreciate the authenticity.
Dangerous to paint out in the glaring sun especially when you're not even doing landscapes! Skin cancer is real. And the reflected glare of the sun from canvases and wet paint can damage your eyes. How about a few safety measures for your next contest?

I think it was a great idea to paint the gods and have them randomly selected by the artists. 4 hrs is really fast but I guess it's part of the competition being under pressure. I really liked the colors in Ritika's painting and for the most part, the composition. I wouldn't have picked her to be eliminated in this round. Enjoyed watching and they're all great artists and I hope you all feel proud. :) Milan Art Institute thanks for bringing us this show.

Why would they set them up for sunburn and over heating? One contestant addmitted to having stroke like symptoms before they were sent out into the blazing sun with no shade. Did anybody else notice no chairs. Way too low budget for my interest.
Gosh, I feel so sad for that poor woman who travelled so far to be there only to be sent back home. I think figurative paintings are suitable for selling Harlequin Romance Novels.
I love all the artists on here! I have to admit tho, that I’m rooting for fellow Canadian artist Tanya Aubut, because her art is so unique and striking!
Awesome! It is amazing to see how people perform under pressure, and whether they play it safe or go bold and creative. I cannot imagine how I would do in their place. Really great to see these amazing artists coming together in this setting and showing what is possible.

The top 3 were very strong but I’m sad Ritika was eliminated. I absolutely love her style & her past work is so beautiful. It did seem a reasonable decision though.

I am watching a year later but I hope that if there is a season 4 that the health and safety of the artists will be more of a priority. Painting for 6 hours in the hot sun is an invitation to heat stroke, and even 1 bad sunburn makes people much more at risk for skin cancer.
So one woman has a heat stroke, then all 3 of the winners have the exact same style and color scheme, and finally the woman eliminated is told that "we all can make bad paintings and lose." Is this the depths of artist hell?
Right?! Great idea for a show and I appreciate the school but the hosts/creators also seem to love and produce this sort of commercialized style where the canvas is full but not every stroke is intentional. It is way too home department store-esque and doesn’t work for me at all. I would have chosen three completely different top artists. Ritika omg 💔. She was reasonably in the bottom for this round just based on some dimensions.. but she also really didn’t deserve to go. I loved her style and could really see where that painting was going, last in the first round should have gotten a warning or a demerit or something… Anyway, I can’t imagine painting anything nearly as good as any of these ladies in four hours in the boiling hot sun ☀️ 5 hours in a more forgiving environment would be nice!

I did not notice When this video was created. Reason why I am wondering is because, when I was in AZ in 2010. I seen much of this type of art that is in this video, besides a lot of abstract. Many Native Indian's, in their art also added the Owl, the fox, raven, eagle along with a woman. I did not see a lot of Drip wash of colors of, like dirty water. The more vibrant color, adding animals into the back ground of tall city buildings is different. Body anatomy off in several . Great effort in four hours

Now I am assuming much of the art is not completed, but when showing some of their finished work, I did not see a big difference in style. Four hours not easy ,hot ,humid. Body anatomy off in several . Great effort in four hours
Art isn't supposed to be stressful. Why don't you create a Yoga competition too?
is this a Canadian show? Everyone was so sweet and polite and real 🍠🍠
Tanjas Overall is ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Could you mention that they all are graduates of the Milan Art Institute? I like the name Milan Art School better. More approachable. Friendlier feeling.
You can’t blame your art supplies for a bad painting. The rules and theories of art don’t change. Perspective and proportions and color theory are the same no matter the supplies
