I’ve been loving these shows so much. There’s something special happening throughout all the seasons which I haven’t been able to work out yet. But love love love what you’re putting out there for us to see. I go with the tiger for fantastic use of colour
I've been waiting to see this, and it certainly was fun watching the first episode of the first of what has become The Outstanding Artist. I learn something as an artist every time I watch an episode. Each artist did an amazing job in the time, given the restraints and losing their sources (an amazing opportunity to let go and be creative! Wow!), and the results were very cool. I have to say that the zebra that John did in that short time blew my mind. I can hardly wait to see the next episode... but now I'm inspired and am going to paint!
They’re ALL amazing artists! I’d love to see less critique. I say that bc when you tell the artist what YOU feel, it HAS to guide them in a direction we don’t know if they would have gone. The whole point is to see what the ARTIST WANTS
Oh my God, I was looking for this for like two weeks trying to watch the first season of outstanding artist thank you guys though you put it out again now I can finish the season because I started it with the third and then gone to the second now I’m gonna finish the first and then hopefully next year I’m gonna get into the Mastery program. I love you all guys you are so inspirational ❤
So hard to choose only one, but Zebra for me. It feels cohesive and ready to hang even without the finishing touches. I would choose the tiger with the heart or Jake's bird with the crown as a close second. The elements they added when they lost their source is what sets them over the edge to me. Gave me some great ideas for my own work. With more time, I am sure the juxtaposition mentioned during the critiques would have intuitively been more developed. (And also, the tiger does feel a heavier on the left, so something to balance that would help make it feel complete. I'm just sharing what I'd lean to if it were my own work. I never know when to stop, so I really loved this challenge. Thanks guys! ❤
I actually like the personal feel of this first season. I love Jake but I feel like the ladies bring a warmth to the dialogue that doesn't feel like a game show host
For the editor, I would love more straight on closeups of the paintings. We don’t get to see near enough and that’s really what the shows about. They’re ALL amazing artists, show it off.
And why couldn't the Milan's have not provided fans for the studio space???!!! I live in TX and there's no way this could have been done here without at least some fans. So what if they make noise for the recording. Just edit it out or turn them off when they're talking to the painters. There are many brands of strong/good fans that are insanely quiet.
They all did a great job! I really enjoyed this but hated seeing them suffer through the heat. I'd much rather hear fans or air conditioners and see people working comfortably. Plus you can use editing software to cut out much of the background noise of fans, etc.
I would love for John to host a paid class to recreate the zebra! A step by step acrylic class that talks about brush strokes (hard/soft), paint thickness, color of paint/mixing (probably a voiceover would work best as it's hard to paint and talk at the same time), etc. My daughter would love to create a similar piece of art.

Is there some strategical reason for rarely ever showing closeups of the paintings? Especially when the artists are discussing their own paining during interviews. It would be VERY helpful to be reminded who painted what as they talk about it. Just a thought
Im glad to have seen this. Im not sure if you're still doing this. However, next time, you should really consider air conditioning and get better shots of the artwork. It's irritating that this is a visual thing, and you don't really show the visuals... which is the artwork!!! Since this is uploaded after the actual show, you should have done a short clip saying this was pre-recorded and that voting is closed. I like you guys, but think things thru if you do this again!!
The very idea of this competition is an insult to art and the artists. The comments and suggestions to the artists are revolting. The damage done to these beginning artists will probably never be UNDONE! This quote by Elli Milan is an example of why these artists will never get out of the wrong attitude that she has instilled in them, which will hinder their development . . . "I mean you do what you want, you don't have to listen to me, but that's my tip" Yeah, right, give them bad advice and then GUILT them into taking it! ~
Wow, such beautiful paintings in such a short time. They are all absolutely beautiful 😍 i think my favorite one is the tiger. I feel big cats paintings always portrait something so strong and kinda royal.
Loving this so far but I'm confused why you can't have fans or air-conditioning since you have the really loud music playing over everything the whole time.
All paintings look great! Please wear a mask when cutting and sanding wood, I took a safety class in art school for artists that focused more on woodshop and they mentioned that not wearing a mask when cutting wood can be harmful to your health! Same with the hair, it needs to be tied up so you don't accidentally get your hair in the miter saw, and no jewelry like long earrings, long necklaces, and bracelets, those all pose dangers when working with woodshop tools. Safety PPE 😰😰

I love the artwork, but to be honest the thumbnail with three different artists doing different pieces all look like they came from the same artist it’s the same style. They look very similar right now. It’s a great style and it probably sells really well, but look at all these people already doing it.
First impressions: I like the concept in general, but I think the art part should be the focus. I don't like the artists having to scramble to get the materials, that is rather pointless to me. Not crazy about the reference provided, but I guess that is the same for everyone. I would appreciate a bit less talk in general, so that the pace is better. I skipped over the first 15 minutes a bit as that was just a bit boring. If I can sompare this to other art competitions, what I find lacking is various artistic approaches. The results are all colorful and drippy and bright and very much of one school of working. It is not bad, just not very inspiring. I know this is a marketing for your channel and studio, but I find the elements take me out of it. I will try some different episodes to see if they provide more.
The first video lacked polish and post-production. The video would have been better without the first 15 minutes of Home Depot. It would have been better at 30 minutes. Good job, nevertheless.
This first season was shot a few years ago and was previously only available to watch if you were subscribed to their Art Club, which no longer exists. That's why it's just now getting up on their UA-cam channel. 💛

And you are covering the non-spoken segments with music anyway...heat stroke is a real thing, so why expose the artists to unnecessary risks?

My favorites are the Tiger and the Zebra but if I had to chose between those 2, I'd chose the Zebra. Every artist did well!
