@triconcert. I loved Will's portrait too, the colours were wonderful, but I loved Sarah's painting a little bit more. P.S. Will is very young. I believe he's heading for a great future. 😍
Absolutely agree! Will's portrait was the best likeness but also unique. I know the judges are often looking for something a little out of the ordinary, and I think this was. He captured Nish's eyes perfectly, as well as the madness of his hair. I'm surprised he didn't make it into the final three, at least. Disappointing. Sarah's painting was also nice, but not the best of the day.
For me, there were two very clear standouts: Will and Sarah. I’m shocked that Will’s portrait didn’t make the top three, but I’m very happy that Sarah won 🎉
Will Terry's was the best piece there today... can't believe that his didn't even make the top 3....but of the ones that did make the top 3, they definitely picked the best one of those for the winner
He made the best "portrait" but this competition is about "art" and not about "craft". I felt the one that won was the best artwork of all. The selections made out of the threes, before they announced the winner, not exactly my preference. The problem with art is that juries are constantly looking for something that has never been done before, or has not been done for such a ling time that they wouldn't think it is old school. The point with your favourite painting is that the use of "ton-sur-ton" (colour tone on colour tone in French) in the warm browns gives an 1800s feeling, or 1970s pub. And then, for these juries, it cannot be "high art" any longer, even when the sitter is a beautiful brown man. The painters of around 1900 would go to museums or art collectors to see how a painter in 1600 had worked, and attempt to copy at least the technique. That was called "learning" at the time. Today it is a criminal form of "plagiarism".
The winner 🏆 is WILL TERRY. The dazzling use of colors brown and black is a tour de force. The madness of the hair and perfection of the beard plus capturing the funny, gentle soul of NISH is astonishing. I'm surprised, shocked, really, NISH, not selecting it as favorite. The judges deserve a well-earned spanking for not selecting the TERRY. for at least a top 3.
Aside from being technically masterful, his painting was quite poetic. He was my choice from the beginning, and I was shocked by the results of the judges.
I’m sorry that guy who painted nish kumar(guy in thumbnail) was literally the best one there hand Down no doubt. Literally the fact he didn’t get picked is disrespectful he was stellar. Dude if u see this wow man ur good
I totally agree with you. The youngster will be brilliant! However, art is totally SUBJECTIVE, so what you like most doesn't reflect with what others like. Some totally fall for having an amazing technique, wonderful color scheme, personal connection, uniqueness, spontaneity, humor etc. Thus, it's sourly disrepectful on your part to say that it's disrespectful that the "best" did not get picked. Nonetheless, I hope all these artists will continue to pour out their passion after the show.
For me, the top three were Sarah Harvey’s painting of Alexa Chung and the two paintings of Nish (not the print). That is not to say that I didn’t like the print, but it wasn’t in my top three. If I had to choose a winner it would be the brown painting of Nish. That really captured his personality.
That was the first time in watching this series that I’ve been surprised by the sitters’ choice of portraits. You can usually depend on the sitters to choose what ‘we’ think is the best, no matter what strange choices the official judges make. But definitely not this time.
As an artist, over the years i have been struggling with inspiration to draw and paint or complete art projects... finding this program is certainly inspirational.
This is a show, not about who's better than who. People who would not step into a gallery in 10 years got to see some art. I love the idea of the show.
to the producers of this Show, i thank you... its 4:36 am in my Trinidad and Tobago and waters has been filling my eyes... i pray that i can gather further inspiration going through the rest of your Channel on UA-cam to produce some beautiful art pieces. looking forward to more inspiration!
This is the first one in the series, where I feel it’s extremely difficult to choose, as all the artist are just doing such an incredible job with their own unique look!
I am so envious of the talent displayed by these artists and would buy any of their submitted self portraits. It occurred to me that a television show consisting of people like myself who cannot make the connection between what I see and what comes out of my fingers might be hilarious. Thank goodness for real talent.
Actually I thought that was an interesting idea of yours although you panned it at the end. BUT I've done paintings and other things and I have absolutely no talent. But much later after going through stuff trying to get rid of things and organize my place, I run across them and I see something very unique in them that I was attaining without knowing it and though you definitely would not call it a great work of art, it has a certain he ne sais quoi about it😉
The celebrities are such interesting people and so charismatic! They have such power inside of them and presence I think they needed much longer to give them justice! WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!! KISH KUMAR has such a deeply intense face and they did not get him....HE IS HANDSOME and they missed this (but will terry closer).....Phillip Glenister has amazingly emotional sensitive eyes and some very deep pain all over his face and they did not get him....Nicola Benedetti practically set it up for them with her pose and what she had on and is just plain elegant and powerful adn they did not get her and seriously how did they miss those legs????.....my opinion
In the last group I’m not agreed, the best was the guy who did the monochrome portrait that did the dark background, the other two artist didn’t have their proportions rights and the eyes where distorted and not in the right place.. very disappointed.. the 18 year old was the best in the entire competition.
As an artist myself, I'm so happy Sarah won... Oil paint is one thing but to capture someone's likeness using watercolour is amazing because there's not much room for mistakes.
Will and Sarah were the clear standouts for me. Adalina's portrait was very graphic and really jumped off the canvas. Maybe I'm too literal to be a critic. Definitely fun to watch.
The lino cut one is my personal favorite, but I'm also drawn to stark black and white work and pen and ink. Lucy's is my personal favorite, Sarah's my second favorite of them.
Then you should search for all of the seasons and binge watch...you won't be disappointed....also check out Landscape Artist of the Year for another great watch
Sophie, Will and Sarah were definitely top 3. Any one of them would have been a worthy winner. So Sarah made the top 3 and won. At least the judges got the correct winner.
I tried searching Will Terry's artwork but I can't find anything and another artist comes up. I was hoping to see these two paintings and possible more. If anyone knows his social media or has links to his artwork it would be massively appreciated. I really love his art.
Art is so difficult to judge… I couldn’t do it because every piece shown here has it’s specific point of view, different approaches and techniques. Hard for me to say sich one was the best.
How the portraits of Nish were so much better as the ones from Alexa. Proves again that nothing is more difficult to paint well than a beautiful woman.
Sara and Will were my favs. I love wood/linoleum prints but I thought it was a bit muddled, I thought Liams was kind of stoggey compared to Wills. But LIam’s self portrait was my favorite of all the images
4 hours to do a painting is really no time at all. And you can really see that limitation on some of the artists. But the watercolor was absolutely the best most realized piece in the time frame.
Genuinely shocked at the top three, I would've thought it would be Sarah, Meesh, and Sophie. The print was fine but it didn't really capture Nish's likeness
Yes they chose the best one ,I did like Will Terrys painting of Nish Kumar too shame he didn’t get in .They say portraits on these programmes but a lot never look like the sitters yet the judges ooh and ahh about them .
I get why the judges might have felt compelled to pick the watercolor portrait but don't understand why the judges picked two of the least stronger pieces which were very nice but there were stronger pieces
Can't say I agree with all the three last choices. The water colour was great. But Will's portrait of Nish was the hands-down winner for me.
Sarah's painting was also nice, but not the best of the day.
I agree. Will's portrait is the best.
I'm shocked that he didn't at least make the top three. He would've been my winner as well.
agreed
Will Terry’s painting was by far the best one of the day!
That young man will go far!
Boo to those “judges”
Agreed!
What a lush painting, absolutely masterful. I was stunned when they didn’t choose him.
Totally agree
Agreed!
It was a little predictable, thus the outcome.
I love Sarah's painting, but Will Terry’s painting was absolutely the winner for me.
Really like Sarah Harvey's watercolor paintings. All the artists are brilliant. Love watching them work.
For me, there were two very clear standouts: Will and Sarah. I’m shocked that Will’s portrait didn’t make the top three, but I’m very happy that Sarah won 🎉
Agreed.
Will Terry's was the best piece there today... can't believe that his didn't even make the top 3....but of the ones that did make the top 3, they definitely picked the best one of those for the winner
I agree. His was a very good likeness and I love the way he put the paint on.
I have to agree wholeheartedly with you! Clearly the best painting of the day!
He made the best "portrait" but this competition is about "art" and not about "craft". I felt the one that won was the best artwork of all. The selections made out of the threes, before they announced the winner, not exactly my preference.

Sarah Harvey was my choice as winner of this heat- a stunning, sympathetic and gentle portrait and I loved the finished painting.
I thought for sure Alexa would choose it.
It was definitely the one that I would have chosen to win as well. 👏👏
I agree 1,000%!! It is a gorgeous painting by any measure. It was privilege to watch Will create it.
@@joanhenry8586 It's mesmerizing. The TERRY can be placed in any world-class gallery and will draw immediate attention. It would sell quickly.
Aside from being technically masterful, his painting was quite poetic. He was my choice from the beginning, and I was shocked by the results of the judges.
@@TenTenJ Totally agree. He was robbed.
Un portrait extraordinaire, sans aucun doute.
I’m sorry that guy who painted nish kumar(guy in thumbnail) was literally the best one there hand Down no doubt. Literally the fact he didn’t get picked is disrespectful he was stellar. Dude if u see this wow man ur good

My favorites was Wills portrait of Nish, Sarah Harvey of Alexa, and Sofie of the other man...
It is nice to see a watercolorist win!
I struggle the most with watercolors.
For me, the top three were Sarah Harvey’s painting of Alexa Chung and the two paintings of Nish (not the print). That is not to say that I didn’t like the print, but it wasn’t in my top three. If I had to choose a winner it would be the brown painting of Nish. That really captured his personality.

Thankyou uploader. Much appreciated. good choice for Winner. But a couple of the Nish ones should have bn finalists
Thank you for posing these shows I have learned so much and it keeps me inspired to continue to paint.
As a watercolourist, I’m so excited Sarah won this. Congratulations to Sarah.
Thanks for posting Banijay!
After comparing them to my painting abilities (NONE) they were al amazing. Art is so personal.
Honestly, every single one of these artists was amazing not just the shortlist! Truly outstanding ❤
It was between Sarah and Will for me. Still can’t decide between the two.
I love seeing how different each artist's style is.
Absolutely LOVED the winner this time.
Ty for noticing the shadow. It brings his painting to a whole new level
LOVED the winner!!
I loved the Watercolor…she may have thought it was too small and wanted something bigger for her home…go Big
This is the first one in the series, where I feel it’s extremely difficult to choose, as all the artist are just doing such an incredible job with their own unique look!
WILL TERRY ‼️
I am so envious of the talent displayed by these artists and would buy any of their submitted self portraits. It occurred to me that a television show consisting of people like myself who cannot make the connection between what I see and what comes out of my fingers might be hilarious. Thank goodness for real talent.
4 hours is really not long enough but they really nailed it!
Actually I thought that was an interesting idea of yours although you panned it at the end. BUT I've done paintings and other things and I have absolutely no talent. A watercolor won! Wow!
I love Mish Fernandez's portraits so much ! hers and Will's are my favourites, tho i love Sarah & Lucy's too. And Adelina's self- portrait
Fingerpainting. I like the bold move!
The celebrities are such interesting people and so charismatic! They have such power inside of them and presence I think they needed much longer to give them justice! WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!! Wills by far was the best! Can't believe the judges let him slip through their fingers
Will Terry wins walking away. Just beautiful.
Intriguing, fascination, and very enjoyable watching the process. Thanks
All artists are so strong in this episode, it was really interesting to watch their works evolving.
In the last group I’m not agreed, the best was the guy who did the monochrome portrait that did the dark background, the other two artist didn’t have their proportions rights and the eyes where distorted and not in the right place.. very disappointed.. the 18 year old was the best in the entire competition.
I agree, his painting spoke the loudest to me as far as technical ability.
I'm very surprised so many artists had such wonky eyes
Stunning work
As an artist myself, I'm so happy Sarah won... Oil paint is one thing but to capture someone's likeness using watercolour is amazing because there's not much room for mistakes.
What a delight of style and medium!
I loved Sara's portrait! The eyes are just exquisite!
Beautiful choice!
I thought Will did the best.
I'm really into painting swans rn, so I'd love to see the virl wi5b the goose!. Congratulations!
All of their paintings are wonderful
Muy buen aprendisaje, se aprende, felicidades.
Will Terry’s painting lives!
Will or Sarah would be my choice . Shocked the celebrities picked the ones they did
Will's painting is the best!
I hadn’t heard of this show. Loved it!!!!
Then you should search for all of the seasons and binge watch...you won't be disappointed....also check out Landscape Artist of the Year for another great watch

Omg the editing of this reminds of the great british bake off, I'll be taking 14 seasons as a spin off series pls 🙏
I would buy Sarahs painting! looooooove it!
Will, hands down, was the best painter.
Art is so difficult to judge… I couldn’t do it because every piece shown here has it’s specific point of view, different approaches and techniques. Hard for me to say sich one was the best.
you can always count on the comments to veer sharply towards the most photorealistic painting.
How the portraits of Nish were so much better as the ones from Alexa. Proves again that nothing is more difficult to paint well than a beautiful woman.
Good looking young woman are only matches by babies in difficulty.
Will went crazy ! His is so great
Am I seeing the same paintings as the "celebrities" and judges??? Will Terry is brilliant. What's with all the fascination over the woodcut???
I loved them all. How can you pick one over the other?
Gotta love how the video is vastly different from what the thumbnail and caption implies...
The world must be coming to an end!
The judges *FINALLY* chose the best artist. Never thought I'd live to see the day!
36:09, unexpectedly deep
Harvey’s painting was sublime
yes, it is the best!
defenetly will's the best by far
Sara and Will were my favs. I love wood/linoleum prints but I thought it was a bit muddled, I thought Liams was kind of stoggey compared to Wills. But LIam’s self portrait was my favorite of all the images
Yeah, Liam was not better than Will %100
Impressive choice.
Amazing ❤❤❤❤❤❤
perfect choice
Still thankful for the upload inspite of the video quality
Will Terry should've won. He was the best by far.
So we have a professional and amateur class now in art!!! 🙈how rich!!
GREAT STORY.
Sarah and Will were the best of the day
Finally i can agree with the judges! Brilliant winner
La Modelo muy hermosa.
38:00 for me , he is the best portrait........
Will's painting was the best in my opinion
4 hours to do a painting is really no time at all. And you can really see that limitation on some of the artists. But the watercolor was absolutely the best most realized piece in the time frame.
I am not sure about Lucy's woodcut but her sketch would have made an awesome entry!
Genuinely shocked at the top three, I would've thought it would be Sarah, Meesh, and Sophie. The print was fine but it didn't really capture Nish's likeness
The last ot 3rd sitter looks so much like Mathew Perry!! Each man could very much be the brother of the other.
What are these picks???! Softie yes but the rest I’m like what??😂😂
VERY STRONG ARTISTS🎉❤👌✨️ CAPE TOWN
Yes they chose the best one ,I did like Will Terrys painting of Nish Kumar too shame he didn’t get in .They say portraits on these programmes but a lot never look like the sitters yet the judges ooh and ahh about them .
Sarah's watercolor was by far the best... deserves to win
💜💜💜💜💜💜
does anyone know will terry socials? i wanna see more of his art
First time I have ever liked a linocut !
Muito acadamenicos. Não me parece grande coisa...
Ty😊
I get why the judges might have felt compelled to pick the watercolor portrait but don't understand why the judges picked two of the least stronger pieces which were very nice but there were stronger pieces
I can't get over the nose of Nish Kumar on that print...
