I don't like purchasing gear that I can't or won't use. The green cups that come with the Stanley Two Cup Cookset are nice, but they have limitations because they come without lids. After searching and trying different lids, I have found two great options for you. They both fit well, work like they should and are inexpensive. Now, you can put those green cups to work for you the next time you into the back country! Thank you for watching and please leave me a comment in the section below.

I have two sets and took one cup from each set to go live in a kitchen cupboard, I make camp cups from used gas canisters so prefer not to take cups out initially.

I cut 3/8” off the tops of my green cups. They are double walled so this allows them to separate and turns them into 4 mugs. Allows me to take 2 out and pack more stuff in my pot and still have 2 plastic cups!

I use one of the cups. I put a thin aluminum wind screen (made from flashing aluminum) in the cup first and the green cup slides right down to the bottom without rattling. then the usual stuff....alcohol stove, lighter, cleaning gear and a piece of carbon felt to protect the ground. It makes a great set. I'm going to see if I can work in one of those silicon lids. Thanks for the idea.

Nice! I've been using the Stanley pot for years, and love it. I used to leave the green cups at home, but I would almost always regret it because someone I was with would forget a cup, I need a small container, etc. So, now I always bring them along. Instead of storing stuff in the pot I either use the Condor water bottle pouch and just add kit in the pocket, or I made a canvas bag that fits the pot and a lot of extras. I think I'm going to incorporate that silicone lid though. Btw, I really enjoy these hack (or mod) videos!

Great idea. I never thought about adding a lid, but it makes sense. Insects, sand, dirt, bird droppings, can all be avoided in your coffee. Granted it won't have that natural outdoors taste, but you can't have everything.

You did a great job finding those. I've got two lids for mine, one came off an old Coleman coffee mug and the other I don't know what mug but both look identical. I've tried the Ozark Trail tumbler lids but they don't fit. What I did to my lid was file the lift tab down so it slides to the bottom of my Stanley and put one cup on top and I can still put a few items in there, works great for one person.

Hi James. Two great hacks. I made a windshield from an aluminium baking tray - it is the height of my gas stove and canister which is about the height of the cook set. However it is about ! and a quarter inches longer. The extra is cut every inch or so in order to secure it under the gas canister. The whole shield wraps around the cook set. • @wanderingcalamity360
    @wanderingcalamity360 3 роки тому

I ditched the cups and went with the BRS stove, lighter, and fuel canister + dish soap and sponge. Didn't trash them. They're in my kitchen cabinet, waiting for the day they're needed.
The pot + Sierra cup is enough for me for now.
Might try one of the collapsible silicone cups in the bottom of my cook pouch.
I do like the silicone bottle you mentioned in another video.
There's so many great ways to configure these Stanley cook sets that it can be hard to decide on one particular setup.

I didn’t see if anyone commented about this but the Silipint lids come in 2 sizes. It looks like the XL lid is the capable top for the product which you are showing us. The link you provided if for smaller cups as described on their website. To confirm, i believe the lid your are showing us is the “XL” version however the link is not. Thank you and hope this if helpful in steering people to the correct compatible product 👍🏼

I do like the little Stanley cook sets and have a couple of them. But. I seldom bring them out and use them any more since I have replaced them with SRO's Pathfinder gear. None the less they are still good pieces of kit, especially for the price.

The intro music and graphics give me a chuckle every time. It makes me think some prophecy evangelists will appear and start talking about the prophetic signs and significance of a Hissidic passing gas while at the wailing wall.
Just cannot get it in my brain to associate the intro music to outdoor sustainability. Don't think I am being critical. Guess the years of watching charlatans in big lapels has seared my perception. Love the vid btw. Liked. You always seems excited to talk about survival. Keep it up.

@@WayPointSurvival I think these are the ones I just commented. Fit the pot itself

The 20oz ones will not fit the green cups, if it's the same ones that I tried out from Ozark Trail, that is.

Finally found a way to keep the lid quiet! KOOLEEZ popsicle cozy! You can get a 10 pack on Amazon for around $15. Not worth it if you only want the noise solution but my daughters loves them for the intended purpose. I cut one to length of the handle and it fits perfectly. I can try to send a picture if you have Instagram or Facebook

    The green cups......
    well....actually...I really
    ....uuummm....I really just
    don't like them...
Maybe I could drill holes in the bottom and use the cups to start seeds---with some good organic soil...
I do like the pot....but I would rather have one
somewhat larger...maybe another 12 Oz...that way if you and a friend went camping....you could invite a third person.
Just imagine how nice it would be to have an individual to chop the
    firewood....Hehehe

work as well? It’s only $3 I believe at Walmart. Just rewatching all your hacks and thought I’d mention this info. God bless, James. 🇺🇸🙏🏻

I know what you mean, but it's just too small for the pot and won't fit the green cups either.
