      It's a good idea the only thing I worry about is those little screws getting stripped out or too much weight causing them to strip out. Overtime a steaming hot cup of joe might weekend the area around the screws. Have you thought about drilling two small holes about an inch to an inch and a half a part on the top part of the cup. Large enough to feed in a zip tie and come out again on the other side in the same hole. Then you could use a medium to large carabiner and with one at the top and one at the bottom or near the bottom it would greatly stabilize your handle. Fasten that down tight and trim your zip tie leaving about half an inch extra and then melting it into a ball so it can never pull loose almost up against the lock part of the zip tie. Your Carabiner should full to either side and should avoid any problems nesting with the other cup and still fit into your large metal cup if you put it on the outside it would come off but since these things are Hollow because of their double wall this would work great and you could even put a little silicone inside the hole around the zip tie to seal it off again so that condensation wouldn't form inside. You could use epoxy or anything it would not have to be silicone. And it would make it even easier to attach to stuff.

    These cups are very nice quality, but like you, I always thought a handle would be nice. Just something to put a finger or thumb thru to prevent a drop. Last year when I got my Stanley set, I made a handle... not permanent or as nice as yours.
    Garden suppliers like Lowe's, etc...sell velcro strips...about 1/2 in. thick, for supporting tomato plants. They're about 10 in. long or so. You get a bunch of them in a package and they're cheap (and useful for all kinds of stuff). I ran a strip thru a keyring and attached the velcro loosely around the cup, just under the ridge where the cup widens. Then I pushed/pulled the velcro band up and over the ridge, for a good snug fit. It takes a couple tries to get the tight fit, but it won't budge once you get it right. The keyring folds over against the cup and the velcro hasn't loosened or needed adjustment since I did it. Very secure feel.
    I suppose a thick rubber band might work, or maybe duct tape? In any case, yours is a nice mod and I might try it on my other cup to see if it works better. I will also check your your lid mod...my coffee gets cold too quickly in the winter!

    Great hack. I love watching videos like this one. They always get the imagination going for new ideas.
    The bracket you made reminded me of some of the picture hangers I’ve seen. Looking online I found a few that may be thin enough with a small round or triangle ring to put on the bottom cup. The key ring would need to be removed but would attach to the hangers ring when used. I’ll check next time I’m at the store to see if any there will work.

    I like this hack as I find that I need a handle a lot for my cups but I was also thinking of another hack that you did involving the green cup and was thinking of combining the two somewhat to make the handle stronger I will try it first and let you know if it works it involves where you open up one of the cups to make 2 of them but I was thinking that if you installed the handle to the outside cup with not only the screws but small machine washers and nuts on the inside of it and job welded them on the inside of the cup and then resealed the cup back together with heat proof jb well for pl mastic making it insulated again how well that would work.

      Well, I had the curtain rod hanger just left over in the drawer and it was the perfect size already. But, you're right you could definitely use the leftover piece from the cookie tin. As far as the JB weld, I'm not sure if that would stick to the type of plastic that the Stanley cups are made out of. Still, not a bad idea. Thank you as always for watching and commenting!

    Cleaver, but I don't need it. I did drill a hole in a Stanley and put a loop of cord thru it because I left that cup stored on a branch in the woods, but that is too simple and obvious to be of value to a video.

    Too far. They're insulated, don't need handle and handle gets in the way

    By piercing the cup you have lost the insulated property's that Stanley has been known for for decades 🧐

      Not at all. You can stack them back together and the cup will once again will insulate your hands from the heat.

      The zip tie would just slip off. The plastic is too slick. Thank you for watching and commenting!

    Hmmm got half way through this video (my first one by this particular “survivalist”) and thought to myself “why would I need a key ring dangling in my way on my Stanley cup?” Gotta do better than this to get me back.

      Well, thank you anyway for stopping by and watching at least a little bit of the video. I teach a lot of improvisation on my channel and not all of my hacks or videos are for everybody.

    Handles get in the way..catch on things and destroy integrity of cups

    • @WayPointSurvival
      @WayPointSurvival  3 роки тому +1

      Actually this handle is very unobtrusive, does not get in the way of anything, makes it easier to hang on a hook or branch, or hold on to and does not destroy the integrity of the cup. However, thank you so much for watching and sharing your opinion!
