If you told me to use an old car antenna and a Zebco 33 and I'd get those results, fork it over, dude! There's a reason you hire people to help you catch, and you held up your end. Good job, great video!
Great video, John! Still learning the technique myself, but love my Tsunami Slimwave rod for this style of fishing in NJ Raritan Bay / Sandy Hook area.
The Black Hole is terrible for jigging tog. I'm pretty sure that's what he had. You nailed it when you said it's a good fluke rod. The century weapon jr mag taper is really great if you want a custom rod. The OTI pitch black for $160 off the rack is the best one I've used at a lower price point.
I reel with my right hand since I was a kid (both spinners and conventional) so holding it in my left hand is natural to me. I'm a righty so very much weird to everyone I fish with that I reel the spinner with my right hand
I agree that a softer tip can help, but I think figuring out the bite technique is far more important. It seems like Mitch was having more problems with the technique.
The new set of blanks were just shipped to my rod guy in CT. These are American made blanks and will be hand built here in the States. We are hoping rods will be ready in next few weeks.
The shimano trevala is the best rod for all around bottom fishing. Can easily handle a striper and has an amazing tip you can use for tog or fluke. Even the jigging world rods are far too stiff for tog jigs. I’ve tried them with horrible luck but I break out that shimano and it’s a game changer. Tight lines John! And clean that damn boat! 😂
@@davidmercado9132I use the medium light 6ft and it’s so fun on tog up to 10lbs I used to use the jigging wold nexus MH and I agree it was far less sensitive than the trevala
Fantastic explanation on the noodle rod! Love the "Hollywood" rods for the jig bite!

Hey cap, when is the new rod coming out
John I loved using your rod, it was so balanced in my hand and I felt everything!! Can't wait to get one!! Noodle Rod Baby!!
Looked like another great Black fishing trip John. I agree that you really need to develop the feel for how Blacks pick up the bait. Nice work! 👍👍🐟🐟
Nice job yet again. I will say, fishing with your rod, and mine had decent sensitivity, 100% made a difference

You should check out the G. Loomis SOL 7’ MH Fast, it’s a phenomenal tog jigging stick. Best stick out of my lineup for that type of fishing.
Another great trip John! Hoping the weather cooperates for next week. Small correction...Lizzie is only 57!
Hahahaha, you caught that!
Nice job Captain!

I think holding it loosely makes a difference. My issue is I'm a rightie and I hold it in my left so i compensate by holding it tighter

what model slim wave would be the same as your rod??
The Medium if you can find it. If not MH
@@jiggingjerks cant find a medium so i got jigging world luminous s651m. seems to light what do u think????
@@jiggingjerks got the slimwave 6'4 mh seems very light and bendy//??
@ yes, same as my rod
What happened to the intro song??? Bring it back 😊
My Penn slammer sounds just like that too when I reel. What’s that’s from ?

John do you know when the rods will be back in stock?

What are you averaging for depth lately? I’ve been trying the light jig tactic, but man I’m a sucker for a snafu lol
Depends. Some spots it's 10 feet and others it's mid 40s
Soft tip rod is more fun.But not for kayak ?
Not sure why it wouldn't work on a kayak. Skinner uses similar rod when on his kayak togging
The tog rod is sold out!
Will be back in stock soon. These are handmade here in US using a US sourced/made blank. My rod guy will be very busy next few weeks
Was that the belly guy ?
The fluke belly, yes
Do something with that damn reel or retire it. You fishing with it or grinding pepper corns? Ridiculous.
Let's all take a deep breath lol....it's not that serious. Reel is getting serviced
@@jiggingjerks You're a charter man. Take a little pride in the gear.
I'll buy it if you sell it 😅
