Capt John- you have a flavorful exuberance for jig fishing blackfish. It shows in so many ways in your videos. Maybe need just a little more patience and calm explanation of how’s and why’s to the newbie guys so that they can get the knack for it a little quicker on the trips. Each angler is different though…… and you gotta cater to them all. Looks like you’ve had another great year for tog. Hopefully better for fluke next year. All the best in 2025 for you as you make charter fishing your fulltime gig. Happy Holidays, safe travels down to FL for the warm winter, and good luck fishing down that way.
Yup! Back in 2022 I caught my first DD of 12 lbs and I kept it. I felt so bad when I found out how long it takes to get that size. The following week caught a 13 lb and released. I think the first time you get a DD with how frustrating and fun they are to catch emotions take over.
The gloves are really just to protect my hands. I was able to get 9 charters in over the first 11 days of season and between crab juice, cuts from fish and filleting, my hands were swollen and hurt like heck. The gloves help a ton. Last charter is tomorrow. Feels like the whole season flew by
@@jiggingjerks I agree, looking back the striper season was the highlight this year, the rest of the species were a lot more work to catch this year then last. However, found a lot of new spots to try next year. Even tried your blackfish method, showed it to another guy and we both caught blackfish on our first drops. I agree, it does work so for all you doubters out there give it a try.
I wish I had any kind of enthusiasm for anything inshore. They only thing I get into is fishing Schuylkill river here in Philly. How do you like those Mercs? I'm really leaning towards putting one on my new boat. I love my 40 that's on my 16. I love the Vessel View mod. It makes life so much easier and idk why every outboard company has it. The fact that I honestly don't need anything gauge wise other then my phone is awesome and it tells you exactly when maintenance is due
@jiggingjerks idk why people talk crap on Mercs. My 40 has just under 500hrs and has never given me a single issue. And I have taken that motor 50 plus miles out, done countless overnights where I'd have it idle for a good portion of the night. Plus they don't void warranty if you use lithium which I switched to last year and I absolutely love. The amount of power this batteries have compared to lead is insane. They are just really expensive especially for a cranking battery
Curious why everyone thinks that big fish was a female? White chin and white line along the bottom usually means male. Hard to tell but it also looks like it may have that white spot on the side of the body that also means male. Females are generally darker. I'm new to this so, what am I missing? Thanks!
Sometimes it’s just tough to tell male or female, dosent look like a protruding chin but it’s definitely white. With that being said the body structure of the fish and its color pattern makes me think it’s a female
Great end of the year wrap up video! Hopefully I get on your boat in 2025!
Those tog jigs look insane

Nice trip John! That big black was definitely a female! Those big Blacks should always be released IMO! 👍👍🐟🐟

Good trip man, i thought that 3rd keeper was going to be huge because he didn't want to come off the bottom
Me too!
Quality fish trip, good job. Big one looked female.
Great trip and I didn't even hear the coffee grinder this time 😉
The coffee grinder is at the tackle shop for a service lol
Stop fooling around and get the Twin Power already!😅
My boat is out for the winter, nice to see you still catching fish out there even though I'm not crazy about the gloves and 20-30mph winds

@@robertstorms5539 that put a smile on my face Robert! Glad it worked!
Good day!

These 225s have been flawless. 235 hours this year and not a hiccup

Nice fish Captain
Got out Sunday caught plenty no keepers. Western sound is all fished out. First time out since you took my boys and I. Been under the weather.
@@josephdoran1399 oh no Joe. Hopefully you’re on the mend
Hey John; when the noodles gonna be restocked?
They're all hand made one at a time. We got 30 done and all sold. Another shipment of blanks arriving next week.
Experienced? I’m not sure they have fished much at all ever before.
@@TerryGranatek no, they absolutely have
At least you recognize your mistakes 😂
where do you fish? any openings?
Hey Alan. Eastern Long Island but my last trip of season is tomorrow unfortunately
How shallow are they now?
We got them in ten feet on my last trip
