    This was the most helpful video on either/both of these Aventon bikes I've found. At 65 I have a leg with some reduced strength as well as some knee joint problems. I've been contemplating getting an Ebike as I used to enjoy riding the backroads around town but had to give it up. I've narrowed it down to these two models as they fit my need and budget and have local shop support if needed. First test ride tomorrow. We'll see what works for me. Thanks for the help!

    I went withe the A2 after my wife had her Pace for about 9 months. I had an aversion to fat tire bike but boy has that changed! I like the versatility the A2 gives on pavement, gravel, dirt trails. and pure off road. The only things I don’t like about it are the weight and getting peddle strikes when riding dirt aggressively. We both love our bikes!

      I’m trying to decide between the Level 2 and Aventure 2. I’m also a bigger guy and live in Ottawa, Canada where we can get brutal winters. Although this past one was super mild and I could’ve easily ridden a Level2 most of the winter. It was an anomaly though so I’m still thinking the A2 would be better for winter riding. The only thing that’s holding me back is the size/weight of the A2. I may have to take the bike on public transit on days where the weather gets bad and I’m not sure if it would fit on the bus bike racks. What are your thoughts?

    • @xminus1_ebikes_rccars_drones
      @xminus1_ebikes_rccars_drones 3 місяці тому +1

      @@ZachAlletson I love my A2 and especially the bigger size and heft as it provides a secure and confident ride. However, i ride it out of my garage straight into work. If had to lift it at all on a regular basis (eg bus, stairs etc) I would get a lightet bike or a non fat tire bike. With my pannier on the bike weighs close to 85lbs and its a pig to lift. Also, it would never fit on any of the racks on our bus system here in london ontario. So I would recommend the Level and get yourself some studded tires to swap out in the winter.

    One major consideration as a commuter bike is the condition of the streets in your area. I live in Tulsa Oklahoma where the streets are like they've endured years of heavy bombing. I got the Aventure 2, and I'm so glad. Those fat tires help a lot soaking up the bumps plus providing stability. I'd hate to imagine hitting some of the potholes I have at speed on 2.5" tires.

    You make really good videos that answer the question that i think people want to know. Great job !!! I have the aventure.2 and love it. Like you said it is a big heavy bike, but it doesn't feel like when riding it other than the fact that it feels solid, tracts well and very comfortable at high speeds. I've had my bike up to 40 Mph going down a hill and I felt 100% confident at that speed. Lots of power as well. I watched a video where they put these two bikes head to head climbing a long steep hill and the adventure.2 smoked the level.2 even though it weighs twenty pounds more. Don't get me wrong though, I think the level.2 is a awesome looking bike and if what you are looking for is a run around town or commuter bike as you said this one fits the bill. My wife and I plan to retire next year and would like to travel both locally here in Ontario Canada, but also head out to places in the United States as well. Not knowing what type of terrain we may run into visiting so many different locations, I felt more confident having the wider tires and more powerful motor. Aventon make quality bikes and I would recommend Aventon to anyone.

    Just bought an Adventure2 from Black Rock Bicycle shop in Reno NV. Same price as Aventon website, but the shop set it up. Only road a few miles, but like it. I got the medium step over because they did not have a medium step thur. At 72 I wanted the set thur, but I felt that the one black large step thur felt a little to big for my 5'7'height. The step over will be fine as soon as I limber up a bit.

    I got the Aventure 2 mainly because of the size and the torque sensor. I'm' 6'3"ish 200+ and wanted something with enough power to haul my big 'ol self. The ride is smoother due to the fat tires and I have confidence going over pretty much any terrain. I still want to get some exercise while riding, so the torque sensor provides for that. I have a VanPowers Urbanglide which is similar to the Level 2 and you're right, they're light and really a pleasure to ride, but I wouldn't take it off road.

    Nice review Scott. Our family has both the aventure 2 and level 2. Im a 260 6'2" guy and we live in an area that is more hilly than flat with grades from 2-14%. Although the level 2 an make some of the hills with pedal assist 4-5 and appropriate low gear with my heart rate climbing to 70 - 80 max, I can ride all the hills with the aventure 2 in pedal assist 1 and appropriate low gear and my heart rate only needs 50- 60% max. If i transport the bikes to flat trails, the nimbleness of the level 2 make it a joy on the flat road. However, the aventure 2 on flat road is smooth and un-phased by bumps, or rougher road conditions, and not to mention with more gear since it carries more. I enjoy both. Happy Riding🚴🏻‍♂

    Scott, thank you so much for your insightful video. I purchased a Level2 on Black Friday and have put over 100 miles on it so far. I’m 6’2” at 200lbs. The large fits like it was made for me. I chose the Level2 over the Adventure because I intend to do very little off road riding. The 2” tires are quiet and handle pavement and grass wonderfully. Also, with the battery removed, I can transport the Level2 on my standard bike carrier. I did not want to spend another $500 to get a carrier that handles the fat tires and extra weight. @@scotthardesty It is. I have the 2023 model which I really like. They did a redesign with some upgrades for the 2024 model which they released in September. I had a issue with the chain skipping on mine right out of the box. Unfortunately they don’t have a dealer/service network. You learn how valuable it can be to have a authorized service center near by when you have a problem. Unfortunately it took several trips to two of the local independent bike shops before it was finally straightened out. That truly sucked!
      I live on the south side of the Tampa Bay area. Within a 50 miles drive from my home, Aventon lists 9 authorized service centers that repair Aventon products. Even though Wired Ebikes has a good reputation from what I’ve read, they have NO authorized service centers. You could have problems with the Ebike and that’s the chance you take when you order an Ebike online from a smaller company with little to no local service centers.
      That reminds me, I do need to contact Wired Ebikes to see if they’ll help out with any of the repair cost. Obviously they should, whether or not they do, we’ll see.
      When I do contact them, I’ll mention your channel. I’d love to see them send you a ebike for review to see what you think about it. They offer two models, the Freedom which is a step-over with front and rear suspension and the Cruiser which is a step-thru with a front suspension only.

    Kind of funny the more off-road bike has blinkers while the on road bike does not😂
    I have the Aventure 2 as I was looking to get a fat bike for winter riding and the salesman tried talking me into an electric one. "Nope, that's more than I wanted to spend." 1 hour later I returned to the store after adding up the cost for the fat bike I was considering and the accessories I'd want/need and realized the Adventure wouldn't be that much more. I couldn't say no after that test ride.
    In all honesty though, the Level 2 probably would've been a better bike for me for most of the year, I mostly wanted a fat bike for winter/snow riding.

      hahahaha. I am certain the next version of the Level will have blinkers. I do love a fat tire bike in the winter time. If there is any snow on the ground, I will be using the Aventure 2 instead of the Level 2.

    Level 2 is what I went with. Got it at a good price, but the main decision is this is an everyday rider/commuter bike for me (i dont own a car) and I utilize our bus system as well for longer trips to maximize battery life thought the day. The Adventure tires wont fit in the front mounted bike racks for our buses.

    Now you're talkin, Scott! 😉
    IMO, both of these bikes exceed all other ebikes in this price range, and are even ahead of a few more expensive, better known brands of ebikes.
    I started out looking at Trex and Giant, and found that Aventon performs better than those brands, for far less in price. Based on reviewers like you, I found that I could ride faster and farther than those more expensive bikes, too. My height is 6'5", so Aventon offers the size frame I need to be comfortable. I'm a rural "commuter", not a city dweller, so I purchased the Aventure 2 in May of this year. I don't off-road, but the ride quality of the fat tires makes riding more pleasurable on the country roads I travel, with all the frost heaves and pot-hole patches in a lot of places around here
    I might add a Level 2 someday, but right now I'm 100% satisfied by the Aventure 2. I will easily exceed the advertised 60 miles range, as long as I refrain from trying to ride at top speeds everywhere at the highest PAS level! lol (even "abusing" the bike with constant travel at top speed and using 100% throttle on uphills, I got 44 miles on the initial battery charge)
    Oh yeah, one more advantage ... Aventon markets its ebikes through local bike shops, not just online, so owners can buy and take back these ebikes to them for service when needed, not ship the ebike back to the online "factory" for that work. My local Trex and Giant bike shops told me they only service the bikes they sell, not other brands. So if you aren't a DIY'er, with a lot of spare time, then Aventon dealers are what you need.

    • @scotthardesty
      @scotthardesty  7 місяців тому

      I agree with you. Luckily, I found a shop close to me that will work on all of my ebikes, no matter the brand. I know I could get farther distance but both bikes during these reviews but I find it better for me to give it the worst-case-scenario when it comes to distance tests. I appreciate the input and letting people know they can travel much farther with their Aventure 2.

    I kind of like the form factor of the level 2. But the A2 with the 4” tires with that aggressive tread prob makes it bulkier on pavement. But I would not get the Level 2 with only a 500 watt motor. Even though it’s heavier I’ve seen the Adventure 2 take hills much easier than the Level 2. My perfect bike would be a Level 2 with 3” wide tires and a 750 watt motor. Maybe the Level 3 might address this ?

    My Aventure 2 is closing in on 10.000 miles/600 hours after a year and a half. Swapped out the seat for a Brooks springer and the post for a Suntour shock. The fenders made too much noise so they are removed. I replaced the knobbies with street tires after 5000 miles; also replaced the brake pads, rotors, chain and cogs at that time. Some extra lights and a set of saddle bags round out the kit. I like it fine. That said, I'm attracted to the Level 2 for the 27.5 wheels where there are lots of choices for tires. If the seat post is interchangeable, the Level 2 is scheduled to replace the Aventure when it gets to two years.
    Final note: the Aventon website lists the Level at 54 pounds where you mentioned 64. I'm assuming that Aventon has the correct weight which is important if giving up the 750W motor for 500W.
