Although it looks like fun, the advance trail looks like it would be a little too tough for me but you did a good job of tackling it. Looks like the bike did well.
Scott, I'm working on an off road video with some mods and I'll let you know my experience. Don't have the hills you have but found some great trails. I'll refer this video to get your perspective. Agree, lots of fun!
This video sold me and I placed my order right after it. Nice job. I was worried the fat tire wouldn’t be good on a trail, you convinced me otherwise. I don’t do anything too technical, but good to know it can handle some rough stuff.. now just have to exercise patience and wait for delivery 😅
Sir you are brave taking that on those trails!!! I’ve been looking into getting one but I think i would try to upgrade some parts before trail riding. Hats off to you!
Wow, what a great test of this bike. I am considering adding it to the stable and this is exactly the kind of terrain i wanted to know it can handle. What pressures do you run?
Great job looks like the terrain I will be using it on. What was your tire pressure? Have you tried a Lectric 3.0 on the course for a option that may be 1k cheaper
Tire pressure is 20psi normally, I can’t remember if I lowered it did this test. I have not tried a Letric 3.0 yet although if they send me one I will run it thru the paces.
I bought an Aventon Aventure 2 a little more than a month ago. I only had 67 miles on it and burned the hub motor on it climbing a steep paved trail at the 3,000 foot elevation level on Eco mode. I took it back to the bike store to get a new hub motor and wheel. At least the warranty is good for two years.
I see you made this video a year ago. I've been looking into bikes recently and watched your review of the Ramblas before this one. In this one I noticed right away that the motor seems much quieter on the Aventure 2, and the bike doesn't have the annoying rattle/clattering sound that I've heard in multiple Ramblas reviews. Thanks for sharing these reviews.
You are correct. It doesn't make the rattling noise but the Ramblas is ton of tun on trails like this. I feel I can do big drops and jumps with the Ramblas and also it would approved at most single tracks. My Aventure 2, not so much. I wouldn't trust for big jumps or drops.
The ramblas is a different beast bill, I’m not sure what rattling your referring to and the motor sound is barely noticeable definitely not anything that would cause an annoyance. You’re truly getting an entirely different level of performance from ramblas
I do downhill riding with it going off all kinds of jumps and drops and it holds up like a champ, this adventure bike would not make me feel safe or confident about it holding up on real rough trails
@@HaydenTucker-e8w The Ramblas does have small rattle when decending and not engaging the motor. It has to do with the metal gears inside the motor but I barely notice it anymore.
UPDATE: there’s nothing wrong with the Aventon Aventure 2 battery other than the operator trying to see how many amp hours he could pull out of the battery in a short time lol. Took a 20 mile trip and never got out of green and blue (eco/tour) pedal assist. No throttle! II only used 35% of the battery. There’s some story here about jumping to conclusions lol. This is one great bike.! 😀👍🏻
I had a few bikes make the same brake noises and the fix I found was organic brake pads. Most bikes come with semi metallic pads because they last longer. I’m I big guy and hard on brakes. I don’t enjoy listening to noises so I’m going to ask if Aventon offers brake pad choices. Mine comes in to the local shop next week.
My brand new Aventure 2.0 has the same front brake shuddering as well. Another reviewer noted he fixed it by slamming on the front brakes enough to wear it down to avoid contact that creates that shuddering sound. It is a little concerning at first.
awesome video! that torque sensor is a game changer, to quote a guy that knows 😉. i'm glad i didn't order an Aventure before that option was available.

I sure do. This is what I use for my ebikes. ua-cam.com/video/1MNI9gUMPjc/v-deo.htmlsi=49EVMrhKjgZ_OMGI They also have a single version if you have one bike.
Scott are you sure that’s a true trail. Lol. Trees right in the middle of the path. In some spots looks like your just making your own way thru there. Damn that looked very difficult. Great ride bro.
I’m stuck between the Level.2 with better tires and adventure.2 any advice on which would be better? Still wanna be able to do all terrain but nothing technical like this. Maybe some winter/snow riding.
Funny you should ask that. I just received the Level 2. I will be making a comparison video after I do the review on the Level. Here is what I know out of the gate (I have ridden the Level about 10 miles so far). Both ride extremely smooth. The A2 has bigger motor (750w compared the 500w on the L2). The Aventure does have the new torque sensor and turn signals. The L2 is super easy to ride and is very nimble. The A2 is like a super nice SUV.
That video just confirmed what I knew all along- MTB riding isn't for me. LOL I got "motion sickness" watching but since I have never been on a trail, I couldn't help but keep looking. Exciting & good to know how it went with that bike. I have heard torque sensors were not good for hills, so now I am a little confused..... I want a small/folding bike due to space constraints when storing during winter but I also need gravel/off-road/snow/ice worthy tyres on a bike that can take a few steep hills on my way to/from work but at a reasonable price that evt. can be tuned to conform to "EU" standards. It isn't easy to find.
Finding a small foldable bike with a torque sensor sounds like that might be pretty hard to find in the EU. I heard Hovsco sells in the EU. Maybe look them up.
Awesome to see you excited about it! Mine hit the shop today Should be able to pick it up Saturday on way back home I think you’ve said before, approximately what’s your weight?
I have never had an issue taking this bike on any MTB trail. I believe as long as you aren't a jerk, nobody gives you issues. That's how its been for me so far.
The grades range between 15-20%. I had no issues getting up them in turbo mode. I am pretty sure I show that on the big hill towards the beginning of the video.
I only hit once, but that was because of me. I did check the height of both bikes to see if the A2 had more clearance. It does not. I just think I am a better rider now when it comes to technique.
Stellar job with the editing, Scott. You disproved all the naysayers claiming that fat bikes are not for single tracks! I would have guessed you'd get a flat or two. Amazing effort and results. If you do buy a full suspension eMTB, will you use the aventure2 mostly on the street?
Thank you for the kind words. When the eMTB arrives (it’s already shipped) I would like to put them head to head. I know the eMTB will win but I want to see how well a 2k does with a 6k bike. But most likely yes. Since it has the fenders, rack, brake and turn signals. After this last video tho, I might miss it on the trails.
The only problem I have with my adventure one is the fork seals blowing out but they’ve been blown out for awhile now and still working so I guess I’ll worrry about fixing it one day lol
Hey Scott I ended up getting a Nomad 1, I am having buyers remorse after seeing the torque sensor was added to the aventure lol. Dont get me wrong I enjoy riding my Nomad which is all that should really matter.... but in your opinion do you think it is worth the upgrade to sell the Nomad and buy an Aventure 2? (I don't ride on trails too often, mainly around town/park on paved surface)
I love my Nomad 1. I was riding it just the other day. One thing I have noticed about having a torque sensor is that you have to put more effort into it. When I retired from the Army, they awarded me as 80% service disabled because of my back, knees, grip and other things. I notice that if I ride the Aventure 2 a lot, my knee will start acting up some due to me not quite used to shifting into the right gear. I would say that since you don't do the crazy stuff I do, that you stick with the Nomad, especially if you have any knee issues that a torque sensor might aggravate while getting used to it.
Suspension Seat post and better seat. In the video I had already replaced mine. I did just put 4 piston brakes with 203 rotors on mine to see if it really makes a difference. Video coming soon.
I have not been able to ride this bike near as much as I have wanted. Due to me constantly reviewing new bikes. I have just under 500 miles and I have had no real issues once we took care of that brake noise. This is still the bike I compare all the fat tire e-bikes in my head when doing reviewing them. For 26" fat tire bikes, this one is still the king in my eyes.
lol, from the sound of your breathing, I think the cadence sensor would be better on these trails! Let the bike itself help more on uphill, without so much leg effort. Good video. I enjoyed "your" ride.
Hahaha. I had the pedal assist to low. I made that correction after the big hill and it was much better. It’s all about being in the right gear and right PAS level. It’s a learning process for sure!
@@scotthardesty I'm near 70 yo; I'm not sure about the torque sensor vs cadence. I have long hills to climb, on the ride from my rural home to the nearest businesses in town. I'm not doing this for exercise, although that will be a side benefit. Also, I'm comparing this Aventon to Trek Allant 8S. They have 85 nm of torque, I'm told. What is rating for Aventure2? (I know, big difference in tires on the two)
@@rayrussell6258 Ah. I would go with the Aventure 1... its price got reduced and it has 80Nm of torque. I just looked up the Trek Allant 8S and that a huge difference in price. That Trek also has much smaller battery (625W compared to Aventons 720W). I see the 8S as being much more of a trail bike and I wouldn't see it being that great in the city. Although I could be wrong. I also don't see where it has a throttle either. I myself just purchased a Giant Trance X E+3 but I only plan on using it on the trails. If that is all you plan on doing with yours, then I do feel it would be better than the Aventure.
@@rayrussell6258 I also don't see a throttle, or an integrated brake light on the Trek. I might have missed those but having a throttle to help you take off from a stop is going to be a definite plus. Especially if there you are on a hill.
@@scotthardesty yes, lack of throttle is an issue, as well as price. I haven't ridden a bike with the wider tires yet. My use will be on country pavement roads and on shoulder lane along 4-lane highway to connect with county roads, nothing off-road. I need more speed on that highway segment. I was impressed by the test ride I got to take on the Allant, but I'm seeing lots of videos of Aventure getting above 30 mph. With Allant I only got up to 25 mph on test ride. I was just beginning to look then, was thinking Electra brand until that day. The torque on Allant was much better than the Electra. However, the 80 nm on this Aventure is very close to the 85 on Trek. Good to know. Thanks.
Scott, you’re right , I was unfair with my comments so I remove them. Just had a little Friday night melt down. 😏I have ordered me a new battery with a black cover until I can get slate gray in. I’m also curious what that fire black plate is gonna look like on a slate grey bike. 😁 I enjoy your videos and I’m always learning from them. 👍🏻
No worries man. Sometimes you just need someone looking at things with a different perspective. I don't know where you live but these batteries don't like the cold weather so mileage is not near as good as it will be in the summer. Glad I was able to help. I have the tan cover (since my A1 is tan) and it looks decent. I only use it on the long trips when I have exhausted the gray battery. All is good my friend.
@scotthardesty TY Sir. Just priced my aventure 2 yesterday. Your videos definitely persuaded me into getting one. Now I just need to find a way to tell the boss at home.
I need the fenders and rack to haul my gear with me.very hatd for me to walk very short distances so, I'm going e-bike. Double batteries and the charger.trying for a hundred miles a day. The brakes will shut the motor down so, unattach the electronic sending unit from the front brake. It works.
Great minds think alike. I asked that at the shop when I was looking into it. They said that shouldn't be the case. I will see what Aventon says about it. I like where your head is at. Thanks for watching!
@@scotthardesty people just want to see how much they can handle especially serious mountain bikers. No one wants to buy a $2000 bike just to have the drake bend or wheels bend.
If I was to upgrade them, it would be 203 rotots and 4 piston brakes, but I was able to get it all worked out with customer support and my brakes are spot on again.
Love the bike design ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and functionality. It is hard to align the front tired to center the disk brakes. The brake wheel touches the stationery side of the brake caliper and pad. I aired the tire up to 40 psi as the markings say 40-60psi. Left the house for a few hours and came back to an exploded innertube. All in all it seems to be a good bike. Have not ridden it yet though so that's the max of my knowledge. The grades range between 15-20%. I had no issues getting up them in turbo mode. I am pretty sure I show that on the big hill towards the beginning of the video.
I was wondering if you still had pedal strike issues on the aventure 2 or if there is more clearance
I haven't had that issue yet considering the abuse these bikes receive from me.
I got the first model could it go on trails like this
It can. I have done this exact trail on my Aventure 1. ua-cam.com/video/7NgHXC_kJ4Y/v-deo.htmlsi=-6_S-Zq5x6Iskn3m
Having taken your Aventon Adventure 2 on Bike trails would you recommend any upgrades?
Suspension Seat post and better seat. In the video I had already replaced mine. I did just put 4 piston brakes with 203 rotors on mine to see if it really makes a difference. Video coming soon.
@@scotthardesty Sounds good, looking forwa4d to the video.
What are your thoughts after a year + of ownership? Has anything broken or need to be replaced? Thx in advance
@@scotthardesty Super! Just bought 2 today. Stoked
Is there an app you use to find these trails?
Yes. AllTrails
So the motor only works when you peddle ?.
No, it has a throttle as well.
how is the suspension feel on this offroad?
It's been a year since I did this test. I don't really remember. Good enough to get it done and be in control.
Aventure 2 vs Vanpowers manidae? Which one do you pick?:
I can’t answer that question yet. I am dying to get my Manidae out on the trails! Once I do that I can answer this question. Stay tuned.
After having multiple MTB fails with the Manidae. I would pick the Aventure over the Manidae every time. The Manidae turned out to be rubbish.
Which gear is most comfortable when riding these dirt trails? 6?
Gear 3-4 actually.
Hey Scott new sub here.
I think I may have a fix for you Aventon owners and their bike rack.
But two quick links and slip them on.
Thanks for the sub! I was able to work do the fix on the distance test, although, can you explain more about what you mean?
lol, from the sound of your breathing, I think the cadence sensor would be better on these trails!
Thanks.
Very edge-of-the-seat video. I have the A2. Great bike.
Thanks for watching!
Scott, you’re right , I was unfair with my comments so I remove them. Just had a little Friday night melt down. 😏I have ordered me a new battery with a black cover until I can get slate gray in. That was your idea and I thank you. I mean after all ) $12.50 to save your electronics.
Seems like all the aventure videos have brake rotors that chirp like crazy.
Mine doesn't do it now. Aventon got it all sorted out with warranty support.
What type of helmet is that?
HELMET: amzn.to/3Ep4idk
@scotthardesty TY Sir. Just priced my aventure 2 yesterday. Your videos definitely persuaded me into getting one. Now I just need to find a way to tell the boss at home.
what helmet are you using man?
Kali full face Helmet: amzn.to/3Ep4idk
What the name of your helmet
Kali full face Helmet: amzn.to/3Ep4idk
What tire pressure did you run?
20 in the city and 15 on the trails.
What size bike did you get with the A2?
I'm 5' 9" so the regular fits me perfectly. I should have gotten the smaller size A1 as the Large was to big for me.
@@scotthardesty Thanks. I am 5’11” and struggling to make the “right” decision on size. Comparing it to another bike I have, I would say Large, but ….
@@davidf8663 I would agree with Large as well as the Regular is rated from 5'3" to 5'10"
I took my rear fender off by deflating the rear tire, it was pretty easy process. Just had to pump it back up. No biggie
Nice, that would have been easier.
I need the fenders and rack to haul my gear with me.very hatd for me to walk very short distances so, I'm going e-bike. Double batteries and the charger.trying for a hundred miles a day. The brakes will shut the motor down so, unattach the electronic sending unit from the front brake. It works.
The bike has fenders and rear rack, I just took them off for this test.
what helmet do you use?
I love this helmet. amzn.to/3Ep4idk
Now this is how you should test a fat bike, e or otherwise
Right?!

Nice job putting that FATTY through it's paces Scott! Thanks for the video!! Fat is always funner 😊🍻✌
Thanks! Fat is always funner. Hahahaha
Sounds like you might need to bleed the brakes.
Great minds think alike. I asked that at the shop when I was looking into it. They said that shouldn't be the case. I will see what Aventon says about it. I like where your head is at. Thanks for watching!
I missed the part where it was torture tested
I did the best I could. Thanks for at least watching!
@@scotthardesty people just want to see how much they can handle especially serious mountain bikers. No one wants to buy a $2000 bike just to have the drake bend or wheels bend.
You could upgrade brake rotors and pads. Or just all the braking to 203 mm higher end brakes. Good you have a skid plate.. Same one on my Kepler fits.
Update, put a new innertube made sure the tire was set properly and it did the same thing in under 20 minutes as second pic shows.
That's crazy. Contact Aventon thru chat.
I think I can do that on my Kepler in 1st gear and PAS 9. Lol..
You should give it a try!
Could of done without the dad metal but cool vid nonetheless.
Can't win them all. Thanks for watching!
ike is not designed to do "real mountian biking" . its meant to be used ona dirt road and the street. Way to heavy and poor components.
I know. I would never attempt any drops or real jumps with this bike. I have a "real mountain bike" but I wanted to see how this would handle.... and as you can see, I was pleasantly surprised.
well that was cute..
Ha! It was fun.
That bike either SUCKS MAJORLY or this guy doesn’t understand the point of the bike being electric.
Hahaha. Neither or Both.
That floppy kickstand would drive me nuts. It needs to be removed or tied up with some velcro.
Velcro for sure.
