No need to drill holes for pins, or cut threads... The easiest, quickest solution for that slipping rack is to put on a couple of lock washers. I have the same Aventurer as yours, but step thru, in the tan color even with the same Aventon rack. Mine has the same compression nuts as yours which alone shouldn't allow slipping, but after watching your video, I got a bit paranoid, so I took the nuts off added lock washers and snugged them back up. Further, I put a level on the top of the rack and tipped it just slightly forward (towards the seat), so if it does slip, chances are it'll go forward not backwards. I carry my little dog back there sometimes in a crate and don't want to take any chances with the fur baby, so thanks for posting this!

@@scotthardesty No prob. Most times simple is good right? Re: the skid plate. On a fat tire bike designed for dirt trails, with all those exposed wires inches from the ground, and something that inexpensive, you'd think Aventon would sell them already installed. I may try fabricating one for my Aventurer (Though the guy is selling them very reasonable).

I watched another one of your videos on the review for the Adventure model and it was great. I Love the bike and have been on the fence on which one to go with, I am buying one in about a month. There is a major diff in price and that may be a deciding factor. Good video. I have an idea for your rack. Instead of drill the rods for a cotter pin, find a drill stop of the ride diameter for the rod. Get two of them. Harbor Freight might be a good source. I'm thinking of the kind of drill stop that has an Allen head set screw. Slip the drill stop over the rod. Tighten down the set screw with as much torque as you dare. I think that this will keep the rods from slipping. Not sure it will work, but if I had that rack I would sure try it before I attempted to drill holes for cotter keys. 🚲🚲😎😎🎸🎸

I've been eyeing the Aventon Aventure for a while. I'm pushing 400 lbs, Will I burn out the motor if I use mostly throttle or half throttle to get the bike going? I haven't seen any ebikes rated over 300 lbs.

You are in luck. I just checked for you and the Aventure is rated for 400lbs. With that being said, I always use the throttle from a dead stop to get me going. You will only need the throttle for a couple seconds so I wouldn't be too worried about using the throttle. This beast can take it. Here is a direct link to the bikes. Most of the roads and trails I ride are relatively smooth, flat and straight. Pedal strike isn’t too much of a problem in typical riding but I notice the pedals touch down a little too easily when pedaling through corners with the stock crank arms. I’m was wondering what your impression was of riding the bike after going with shorter crank arms other than the obvious, less pedal strike.
How much different does it feel compared to the stock set up?
Does it take any more or less effort to pedal the bike?
Is it easy to get use to? Feel weird in any situations?

    • @scotthardesty

Just bought an Aventure 2 for both my wife and myself. We both need something like the adjustable stem but our shop tech told us the handlebar with the Aventure 2 will not accept any other stems. Something to do with the way Aventon flared out the diameter in the middle. He also mentioned the headlight being a problem.
