Really interesting and for a change a fair appraisal of the strengths of quattro. I must admit I too find the way they get down the road intoxicating, carrying big speed into the corner grip and more grip. Then super early on the loud pedal and catapult out and on to the next one. I have driven the RS5 and agree it hints at the direction Audi is going in but is more a GT in my view. The RS3 sport back I had time was a total hoot, brilliant car and again rapid beyond belief and the 5 pot sound track is unique. The RS4 has almost all these addictive qualities integrated into a package that a C63s can never manage. I too loved the aggressive nature of the Merc and the sound is amazing but and it is a big but; after a short while you realize it is a one trick pony, as awesome as that trick is, I take the RS4 Avant. Come on Audi, build a Saloon too!
I’ve got the B5 RS4 owned for over 14 years ! Driven all over Scotland NC500, track day at Spa also a visit to the Nurburgring. Long road trips and the odd track day too. A great car and with mine being tuned to 496hp and 702nm torque it’s pretty quick too. Would love to drive the B9 to see how it feels and compares. Great vid.
Great review! I have had one since 1 March following 2 years in an RS3 and B9 quattro Avant so I'm familiar with RS and B9. The RS4 is simply the most fun car I have ever owned without feeling like a hooligan as I did in the RS3. I do not like Alcantara wheel and when I ordered wasn't an option. 20in two tone wheels are great to look at and thankfully I have Conti tyres rather than the Hankooks some cars seem to have. My options were Comfort and sound, Pano Roof, Black pack, Mythos Black, Black inlays, storage etc... Economy so far averaging 23 over 1700 miles. Down side. My old Classic iPod doesn't work (worked in MY16 RS3 and MY17 B9!) , exhaust is a bit quiet and my car was delivered with 'silver ears', they should have been black.. dealer has offered to paint but I'm not so sure now??? Overall 9+/10 .. well done Audi and IMHO way better than M-B and BMW which I did look at!

Thank you very much for your awesome review. I don't know if anyone asked you but if you have to choose between the RS4 and the RS5 which one would you choose? Thank you again...
Beautiful car indeed. I would love it if you would review the Audi RS6 C7. That car has never been reviewed thoroughly the way you have done with the other cars.
Been following you on insta for a while now but never actually watched any of your vids until today. Thought you would be heavily biased towards Mercedes but I have to say you do a very very good job, this vid is awesome. Knowledge is definitely there and vids are perfectly edited. Good stuff mate.
Just about to pick one of these up from the dealer without trying first. Same spec as this. Low miles. Can’t wait. Your vid has heightened the excitement of the unknown…
fantastic review👍👍. Ive got a MY 2017 M3 comp pack which i love but living in northern england its not suited to the wet weather. Would you say through the gears the RS4 is quicker?
How in the hell do you not have more subscribers!? Your videos are top notch! On another note. When I was 18, the United States got the B5 S4 Avant, and was broke... Now that I'm in my 30s and am quite squared away financially, and a dad, Audi NA refuses to bring a performance wagon to our shores... Makes me sad.
It's really good to hear your honest opinion on the Audi. Im a Mercedes fan, as I know you are, but you have been in bias toward the Audi. So top marks to you.
I have an S5 and the RS5 really doesn’t feel like a step up. One DTUK tuning box and unplugged valve actuators and the S5 is just as quick if not faster than the RS5 and sounds as good (for a V6). I feel like the only bits you get are the badge, some exterior and interior bits. Funnily enough my boss has one of these on order and has ran into gearbox issues.. very rare issue I can imagine but audi were kind enough to lend him an R8 until the car is back in good health. 😁
LOL don't be silly mate, the RS5 is a different league of car compared to the S5.....outside of the fact that the S5 looks very close to standard A5 it only has a single turbo compared to the twin turbo setup of the RS5 also if you start tuning them the RS5 will easily push past 550bhp while you would seriously struggle to get past 450ish on the S5. In the end this is the same thing people with 340i's and 440i's say as to why they don't have an M3 or M4 "not much difference.....not a big step up" if you've got the ability to drive a car at the limit you'll know there is a significant difference between M lights/S cars and full fat M cars and RS cars.
Disinfowars It’s all but confirmed there will be a RS5 Sportback but what markets will get it is the question, sounds very much like the States will get it but where else is anyone’s guess. I really like the idea of the RS5 Sportback, it’s be either that or this RS4; I just hope they give it the same body treatments the RS4 gets.
Another great review as always my man. Was also expecting it to be the same as the RS5, just in different body form. Was a welcome to surprise to hear that it is more lively. Hope we finally get one of these on Canadian soil, but I doubt it. Will likely just be the RS5 Coupe and the future Sportback. Still think it needs a real strong exhaust though. Thanks again!
Working at an Audi garage I'm starting to see these trickle through from the factory for customers and one came in an Audi individual colour, the name of which I can't remember but it looked absolutely stunning and they look so much nicer than the RS5 imo
Raz, would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on the new 991.2 GT3. I didn't expect this but despite the lower power and smaller tires, motortrend tested it against the AMG GT-R and the gt3 was faster in the quarter mile, figure 8, and around Big Willow race track.
I absolutely love your videos! You obviously know your stuff when it comes to awesome cars... if you were stuck in a terrible car market (North America) which daily driver would you pick (under $80k)?
Thanks for the longer review 👍. The grip and power is a great combination as you say. I tested one on cold, slightly damp roads and it was so unfazed. found I was driving a lot faster with so much more grip compared to my C63 Coupe. Simply couldn’t do what I did in the RS4 with my AMG (it would be in a ditch if I did!).
Great video/review! Can't wait to order mine (although I have to wait until february until these can be ordered, thank you WLTP....). I'd go for Nardo grey with Shadow Look but not the RS design pack, not a big fan of the red stitching. For the wheels, I'd probably spec the standard 19" to keep these for winter tyres and get myself another set of 20" for summer tires, plenty of choices out there

2016 rs3 sounds better than all these cars mentioned. Can’t stand the fact AMG engineer that sound into their cars, it’s boring.
