- #Audi’s Best just got Better! The mid-side power wagon gets zero power increase, but instead gets upgrades where it really matters for emotion and dynamics!
Back in Spain, arrived in style in Iron Man’s original Mark 3 armor, it’s time for the full drive of the new #AudiSport #RS4 Competition! A Sportier RS4, one that seems to remedy to main complaints of the original car. Big changes include a more emotional exhaust with significant sound deadening of 8kg removed, Including manually adjustable suspension, and a more exciting soundtrack.
The engine is still the 2.9l V6 bi turbo making 450BHP and 600NM. Yet we have an improved 0-60 of 3.9 seconds, 0.2 faster, firstly thanks to the upgraded 8 speed tiptronic. This has whole new software to make it much more emotional and shift faster in Dynamic Mode especially. The updated Quattro sport differential, though still 85% to the rear, is more aggressive in giving power.
The biggest change is in suspension, with the RS sport suspension pro with stiffer springs - an option that will be standard in the UK. I’ll take you through what you can adjust with the cool tool box - essentially rebound, dampening and ride height! The height can be adjusted to be 10-20mm lower than the standard car. Additionally, we also get a new Sport anti roll bar on rear and front which are stiffer, and dynamic steering with specific tuning and a fixed ratio of 13/1 - this really shows me how serious Audi are in fixing their past mistakes!
The car gets lighter competition wheels, which surround a revised braking system good for stopping up to two car lengths earlier.
I’ll take you through a look under the skin of all the above changes in the Competition version including all the unique design elements inside and out, and then drive it on road in the mid-level suspension settings.
Spoiler: it’s an emotionally charged car, that really made me smile! Can it make use smile on the same roads the C63 made us cry?! Let’s find out today!!

I absolutely love Raz’z enthusiasm about the RS4 Avant! Even AMG guys can appreciate the RS4.
Awesome work dude!
Correction RS2 hade the 5 cyl turbo that they are most known for. This engine still lives today in the RS3 alot is updated tho but the sound is still the same.
Correct, RS2 cemented the fast estate idea for Audi (and the rest of us)
Need to edit that video - V6 then V5 comments for the RS2 - that i5T generation is a seminal work for Audi. Give credit to the guy who corrected you as you made some fundamental car expert fails
The RS3 has taken the VW 5 cilinder as base, used in US in e.g. Jetta without turbo, not the original RS2..
@@jagoedhart yes but when we talk Audi RS it is from that platform. VAG group has this engine in alot of cars. if you want it from the vw jetta era it was found in the 1979 Audi 200. I have driven that car a long time ago. :)
Great video. Love the way you do the overlays when explaining technical details about the car. As a current RS4 owner I am jealous. This is the one 👌
Audi going crazy right now
Nice review for the outgoing RS4/RS5 B9 generation. Looking forward to seeing what the B10 gen brings.
When are you gonna do the new RS6/RS7 Performance reviews?
What an absolute dream machine.
Great video Raz. Totally agree with you about fast wagons. Gutted about the seats not coming to UK. Seems wrong.
Why don't UK cars get the carbon seats that will be offered in other markets?
I wish Canada got the rs4 avant absolutely in love with it. I still prefer this rs4 avant competition over the new m3 touring, just looks so good outside and inside.
Bring this to USA
Just yesterday took delivery of the RS% sportback Competition. Can't get the seats in Canada. It is beautiful to look at a performs fantastically well. Put 15 mm spacers back and front, flush with the wheels wells, not rubbing. Only other mod's apart from PPF and tint, will be a eventuri intake system. Hopefully getting this done in the summer.
I’d like to see it, do you have an insta account?
The flares on this RS4 (hips)... Woof!
Avants are not popular here in the states but I prefer wagons/ avant / touring
After the RS6 Avant my favorite all round , practical, fast , uberwagon .
Great wheels and brakes , super cool looking !!!!
I adore the looks of the RS5 Sportback, so I'd take one of those over the RS4. But as a former Audi fangirl, it's wonderful to see Audi finally crack the dynamic code with the Competition models.
RS2 is 2.2 liter Inline 5 cylinder 20v turbo not a V6.
Cool and very elegant by design and style and comfort in journey....!
Man I wish this was available in the states.
450hp in this bracket just doesn’t cut it anymore when you consider the RS3 / A45s output… this needed another 50hp as a minimum. Yes it’s a facelift model so it’s a little dated compared to the M3 and even the facelift C63s never mind the new one, but it’s been left behind now.
This model is totally not worth it… you’ll have just as much fun in an RS3, if not more, and make a saving - I would just wait for the new one.
Great video, thanks.
People saying it needs more power? I will take this over M3 touring all day long. 99% of the time this will be as quick and looks way better with a nicer interior (for me). This is all the car most will ever need....
Same but feels like they dont want to compete with bmw of merc even tho they can easily if they increased the power atleast a bit
Love those seats. But yeah sounds AHmazing! My choice by far if u gotta get a station wagon type machine/beast!
Are the buckets comfortable
Great review. Too bad we don’t get this in the US 😕
Yea North America needs this c43 wagon is nice option but this 🔥🔥
Ipad on the dash is a turn off .. love the car
Is this available in North America? USA?
Love that pure v6 growl in an RS2 😂
So Audi RS4 goes from a V8 to a V6 but Mercedes C63 goes from a V8 to an I4?
This car exists since 2017. The follow up will come and it won't be this V6
The current RS4 is quite old now which explain the V6. Next gen will probably be a I4 hybrid. And the next gen RS6 will also probably go down to a V6 hybrid.
@@22Epic Problem is, Audi does not have a newer V6 currently.
The c63 should've got the i6 at least, just like how BMW downsized the M3/M4.
@@allenmandikutse don’t worry M3 and M4 are next on the list.
Will Audi have the next gen RS4/RS5?
That new limiter is soooooo much better woooowww
Rs4 comp. VS. M3 Touring Comp.??
I think we can all agree the pre-facelift B9 looks wayy better then the facelift.
why is the sound so quiet ?
The B9 RS4 has been around for a long time now and I would be hard pressed to justify spending this sort of money on a model that we know is not far off being superseded. Same goes for the RS6 Performance. Nice cars but a few years late in my opinion.
its important to note what he said at the end. This will likely be the very last relatively light handling Pure engine RS4/5 ever. The new gen will be faster and have loads more tech but It will likely be heavier and not handle like the B9.
The B10 RS models are still 2-3 years off. As for the RS6 perf, it couldve came earlier but its only 2 ish years into its model run so I wouldn't say too late
The C8 RS6 is the last generation that will have a V8. And the RS6 performance is the very end of the line. They'll be faster in the future, I'm sure, but they won't be V8s...
@@shammyh how is the rs6 at the end of the line when it hasn’t even been face lifted yet? The m5 and e63 are still on their 2018 generations right now as well
Yeah, but you have to get to the top of the range and then some extra to be any good.
I wouldnt be mad if the new gen RS4 has a hybrid 5 cylinder.
If Canada got this, I'd trade in my 1 year old RS5 for it.
The trouble is now everyone will now think you're like the teacher on ITVs Happy Valley.
Who cares , with a great car with this ?
If only I could upgrade my B9 S4 to an RS4...too bad I live in the US :/
At least the RS5 Sportback exists
Put on before race
The berline shape looks better like in rs4 b7
I'm a bit surprised. The Audi RS4 in 6-cylinder guise was always deemed to be a bit sterile based on reviews.
Put a kw v3 or v3 clubsport under the ''regular'' rs4, give it lighter wheels en a tcu tune and you have a better car than the competition for way less money.
The fact the UK can't get those seats is a tragedy
Why aren't UK cars going to get the upgraded seats?
So this is the BMW M3 Touring competitor?
depends how you see it. price wise sure, performance more vs an M340i and sound wise you should forget there even is a BMW because this RS4 sounds 1000x better
I can't afford an RS4 but I can stretch to the S4.
So why didn't they do this in the first place 🤷♂️
I don’t think they understood the needs of customers, things have changed
@@RemoveBeforeRace
Hmm i feel it's their job to find out what RS buyers actually want.
Kinda feels like they don't quite get there most of the time, but R8 shows they can if they want to.
Audi Sport really flubbed this one. A 4200 lb wagon does not need adjustable coilovers. What it does need, in light of the new M3, is more bhp. They should have upped the horsepower to close to 500 to compete with the M3 Competition and Giulia QF, and made the optional (at least in the US) DRC suspension standard maybe with some minor tweaking. think all of the other upgrades are great (exhaust, anti-roll bars, carbon rotors, carbon trim, alcantara, forged wheels). VAG could have even deployed an upgraded RS4/RS5 engine to Porsche as well (Macan, Panamaera and Cayenne) where 450 hp is barely adequate.
that's what the next gen will be for, they cannot increase HP by the same amount the next gen will have.
It’s more AMG than AMG😂😂😂
RS2 had a 5 cylinder, B5 RS4 had the 6-cylinder
What a beauty . . . sad I simply do not have that kind of money.
😮
You said the Rs2 had a V6??? No way she had a 5cld..
Like it but i rather take m3 touring.
B5 RS2???? You mean B5 RS4.
Audi exteriors are typically in their own league but this RS4 cockpit setup looks disorganised and disservices the whole package. My C63 wagon is a much better place to be.
The RS6 was always the one to have definitely NOT the rs4 you know this.
RS6 swallows fuel. In the real world, RS4 is a better car
@@dam00r the v6 drinks heavy too. You don't buy cars like this for economy. Rs6 is way better which is why it outsells the rs4. Unless all those ppl are wrong and your right?
That's correct. This guy doesn't really like the RS6 though. And he just bought an E63s wagon. So he might have a bit of bias... 😉
@@dam00r Real world, as an RS 6 owner... I don't care. If one can afford a ~140K USD car, one can also afford fuel. And if environmental impact is your priority, no high performance ICE vehicle is justifiable.
@@dam00r You don’t buy a high performance car then worry about the fuel!!
Nice chemtrails in the sky.
you're making a few mistakes here repeatedly.
The RS2 is based on the b4 Chasis. It has a 2.2L I5 engine that is super iconic and lives on today in TTRS and RS3.
the first generation RS4 however was the B5 and that has a 2.7L bi turbo V6.
450HP is not nearly enough compared to its contemporaries . Unfortunate.
Surely it's about how the power is applied, the M3 comp is dull as ditch water unless you have it high up the rev range continually, making it a ball ache to live with day to day. the RS4 applies nearly all its torque from 1500 rpm and doesn't let up much until you are hitting the rev limiter. That makes the car such an easy everyday car without compromising its pace. Joe Achlies timed an RS4 performance at 3.1 sec on the dig. This model can stay happily with the two new German marques where it counts. It's certainly looks better than the M3 Touring and C63, even at this late stage of its model life.
It’s not all about the power mate, go and buy a Tesla if you want straight line speed. That being said, you can easily get this engine to 530hp with a simple stage 1.
🇪🇸😍👌🏻
He looks very familiar. Does his family own a convenience store?
First!!
there is no such thing as a billionare philantropist
Its an estate. Their isn't any decent estate in that price range.
What is wrong with a regular round dials? This is terrible
Now you know what the Americans are missing with their stupid SUV craze.
Can't beat a quality , practical , super fast , great handling wagon like this ,SUV's just can't handle as well !
!!!
the last thing that comes to mind talking about audi is fun and no matter how ugly the current BMW's are the audi's have always felt like they are a class below the merc and bmw
This is not the video we are waiting for
drool
Many things looks better than modern AMGs.
Modern AMGs you can't tell from the front from the rear because its so rounded on either end 😂Laughing stock of the car industry
Not as fast as a 2017/2020 RS3 0/60 🤦🏻♂️🤣
Not doing the carbon buckets in the u.k is the lamest thing I’ve ever heard first time ever carbon buckets & we can’t have them what a joke
For me this is only a small make up to gain time because they are late with the new Audi RS4 launch. The price is ridiculous compared to the M3 Competition wagon or the C63 e Performance. The engine is down on power compared to the 2 others... despite the lack of sound I am still in for the new C63 full of F1 technology and with better handling despite being much heavier.
I don’t care what F1 technology the new C63 has, the 4 cylinder makes it unsellable imo.
@@deang7834 well you have to get used to it as the era of >4 cyl. Is over. I will hold on to my two 8 cyl. But are open EV and downsizing if innovativ

A4 Avant is beyond unreliable. I rented one in Budapest and had it for a month and I had to visit the dealerships throughout Europe 8 times for a variety of shit going wrong.
You couldn’t give me any German car. All built to breakdown.
Whats the point of this "revision"?
The G81 is faster, cheaper, also AWD, more agile and much better.....and now even looks better in wagon shape.
Generally love Audis but this car looks dull.
Owned a B9 S4 for a few years, got bored of it after a few months honestly, the turbo / throttle lag is pathetic, the exhaust is ok i guess, but yeah for the money, never again, German cars are slowly becoming over priced vacuum cleaners
boring!!!
If not for the under steer and terrible steering I’d want that.
No está mal, pero prefiero un BMW
