I love how their songs can be interpreted in multiple ways. Breakup, for sure. But also it's mind-blowing how they took their feelings about possible disbandment and put them in a song like that. That's why it felt so personal. Basically, from what I know they got so big by 2017-2018 that none of them were mentally ready for it, the pressure and fear of not being able to cope with everyone's expectations were immense. Even in 2022 when they were talking about taking a 2-3 year break due to military enlistment they were fully prepared to come back to a much smaller fan base which is what usually happens to K-pop boy bands. And they were quite comfortable with that idea as long as they can still perform for a long time. Instead, they got bigger. 🤷 Again, broke the stereotypes like only they can do. I don't think they are prepared to be even bigger than they are now but they will do it with their usual grace. 💜
This is what Suga said about Tear: ""The lyrics for Tear was written for the members. When I wrote the melody, we were deeply contemplating whether we should quit or not. When I played the song for the members, we all cried together" And later he has added: ""It was the toughest time of my life... I think all of us were a bit out of our minds, looking back... We were like, ‘We can’t do this.’ As we wrote ‘Tear’ we thought, ‘We have to write a song like this … let’s write a song for our members.’ On the outside, ‘Tear’ is about a breakup between lovers, but actually ‘Tear’ was a message to the members" The chorus represents what losing bts meant for each of the rap-line members. For RM it was tears, his greatest sadness manifested, for Suga it was tear as in it was tearing him apart, it was pain, for J-hope it was his biggest fear. The reason to why they almost disbanded was a combination of them being afraid due to having gotten too big, their mental health declining, immense pressure and exhaustion. It was after they blew up in the US and internationally to a level never before seen by any asian act, they never wanted to be that big and weren't expecting it. Suga said he cried in the shower after their performance at the American Music Awards because he was so terrified of their new level of fame, he didn't know how to handle it and he was scared of how much bigger they will still become.
Yes. I remember watching it all live. And at first they were so excited and then they were just tired and scared, especially because they knew everyone was waiting for the 'BTS trend' to die down or for them to make a mistake. But it is now 7 years later and BTS is still growing each day. I cant even imagine what 2025 will look like. In 2023 they were all excited and looking forward to being together again and touring. I hope that when June 2025 they still feel that way
That and their contract with their label was nearing it's end which is why Big Hit asked if they wanted to renew and to really think about it if that was still what they wanted. They all thought about it individually and as a group and eventually came to the conclusion that they they still had the passion to drive forward and make music together.
@@ruthfischer7615 Kinda, it was 2-3 years before their contracts ended. They renewed with BigHit that year, almost 2 years before the end of their contracts because they came out of it that confident in bts :)
Koreans say that when they translate BTS's songs into English, they can't fully convey the meaning of the songs because of the poetic nature of their language. The words and phrases they write don’t have a direct translation, and they wish we could understand how meaningful and cohesive their lyrics are
Doolset Bangtan lyrics is an excellent resource because the translator adds a variety of relevant information/context to help bridge the language/cultural gaps.
@@7Flowers1Dream I have a slight issue with Doolset. The translations are very accurate, as far as I can tell, but they tend to be very literal, losing some of the poetry and rhythm. The context is helpful but I sometimes wish they could draft in a bilingual poet to help with that side of things. Ideally, Namjoon would be that collaborative poet.
It uses both "tear" as crying and "tear" as breaking/tearing apart, combining into the "fear" of breaking up the life/future you dreamed you'd have together. (It's as much of a heartbreak song for any type of relationship, as for themselves as a group if they ever did separate.)
Whenever I hear this song, I see V at the awards ceremony with the bright red hair, sobbing so hard his whole body jerked. So glad they got past that time and healed.
Others have told you the background for Outro: Tear so I'll just add this: In true BTS style they "hid" a third meaning of tear in the song (besides teardrop and ripping). Suga's lyrics say T.E.A.R. instead of just tear. That's actually a psychological model by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross for dealing with grief or any kind of loss: T - To accept the reality of the loss E - Experience the pain of the loss A - Adjust to the new environment without the lost person R - Reinvest in the new reality These guys are lyrical kings indeed. It's this kind of depth that drew me in and although I tend to favor their vocal line and group songs, the BTS rap line is actually the only rappers I love listening to. I think you might enjoy songs like Louder Than Bombs, 134340 Pluto, and Butterfly (there're two versions of Butterfly to choose from - a choreographed group version and the Prologue Mix by the vocal line only - live from Busan is amazing.). 💜
I do not speak Korean, and the guys waited over a year to openly discuss the struggles they were going through during the time this song/album was made... but the first time I heard it, I got chills and shed a few tears because I could hear the genuine hurt in their delivery. When they performed this at their concerts after everyone knew what it really meant, there was something profound that everyone in the audience felt. We were all just so glad they had made it through that time and were still up there performing, and that we could sing it with them.
I also don't like rap. BUT, I like BTS rap. Actually some of my favorite BTS songs are rap songs. This song has a way of seeping into your heart when you know the backstory of it which a lot of other comments explain.
I see this kind of comment pretty often recently, and obviously that's your experience so you're free to say it... I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, but I wanted to add an extra perspective for anyone passing by. Also this comment isn't aimed at you personally, it's something that's been on my mind, and seeing your comment brought it up. I think it's important for ARMY to be mindful of how it can come across to say "I don't like rap I only like BTS rap." Hip hop is a huge and varied genre with a lot of important history and politics behind it, and BTS are heavily inspired by a whole host of black American rappers, as they often mention. I know you didn't say this directly, but when fans say "I only like BTS rap" it can seem to dismiss/stereotype all these other great artists who are central to the genre and make important, meaningful music. Especially when BTS are outsiders/newcomers to the scene, and there are a lot of complex politics around their position. If fans are regularly implying "all those other rappers are no good, BTS are the best/only rappers worth listening to," it could give BTS a negative image in that community. Of course no one's obliged to listen to any music they don't like! But I'd encourage any ARMY (who aren't already hip hop fans) to at least keep an open mind about the genre BTS love so much, and don't judge it all based on a few popular artists. I was just watching Tae's episode of Suchwita again recently and he was saying how early on rap line would give vocal line stacks of hip hop albums and tell them to listen, and Namjoon literally cried saying "you have to listen to this music." I also encourage newer ARMY to go back and listen to their song 'Hip Hop Lover' from 2014. Ok, hope that wasn't too much! As I said this isn't aimed directly at you, and everyone's free to their own opinion, it just something to think about 💜
@@shockofthenew THIS. and its always non black people in general who say this. im white Hispanic grew up in new york listened to hip hop in english and spanish since i was able to understand words and while hip hop isnt my culture i always saw this statement as disrespectful not only to black people, black rappers but to bts as well. bts would simply not exist if it wasnt for the black rappers that inspired them and inspired the other korean rappers that also inspired bts like epik high tiger jk etc. some of my favorite hip hop songs are Mobb Deep - Survival of the Fittest, Lupe Fiasco - The Show Goes On, Nas - Heaven, Hopsin - Fort Collins ft. Dizzy Wright, Black Eyed Peas - Anxiety, Black Eyed Peas - Where is the love?, Nicki Minaj Feat. Rihanna - Fly, 50 Cent - Many Men, Kanye West - All Falls Down, Naughty By Nature - Feel Me Flow, Method Man - Bring The Pain, Wu Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M, The Pharcyde - Runnin' , Tech N9ne - Worldwide Choppers, Tech N9ne, Kendrick Lamar etc - Fragile, Keyshia Cole, Missy Elliot, Lil Kim - Let It Go, Roddy Rich - The Box, T.I., Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Kanye West - Swagga Like Us, Fugees - Fu-Gee-la, and many many more :)
Have you ever thought abt what a song describing emotions felt from a toxic relationship through metaphors of planets and roman-greek mythology to the background of eletronic jazz rap would sound like? Look no further than 13430. Have fun with the lyrics, harmonies and flutes on that one 😉
Yeees, 13430 reaction please!! (it's the planetary number Pluto was reduced to once it was no longer deemed a planet btw. That information might greatly help in understanding the song 😁).
134340 is one of my favorite BTS songs. Really clever lyrics. It’s from the same album as Outro: Tear (album focuses on the darker/painful/toxic aspects of love/relationships). Live performance with subtitles or lyric video since it doesn’t have an MV.
The thing I love about BTS is that there are so many levels through which they can be enjoyed. Someone could just listen to Tear and think it sounded good, appreciate the production or the flow, but not really pay attention to the lyrics at all. Then someone could read a simple lyric translation and extrapolate that this is about a bad break up from a toxic relationship and maybe relate to it. Then someone could read a more detailed lyric translation, hear an interview about what was going on with the group while the song was being written and find out that this isn't just a breakup song, but THEIR (almost) breakup song. Like a delicious parfait, their best songs can be enjoyed in layers depending on how deep you want to go, with each layer bringing you closer to who BTS really is and the message they want to share.
In 2018, BTS were definitely on the rise, but they were physically and mentally exhausted because of their schedule. They were also still grappling with how high they could go - or crash. The members were discussing disbanding. Suga wrote Outre: Tear, brought the guys together and played this song for them. They cried together, and decided to stay together. That year they then swept all four of the top awards at the MAMA awards show. And then again in 2019. BTS very rarely writes breakup songs or romantic songs. It’s always deeper. Case in point: Outro: Tear.
@@AlexaOleksa I think it's because what you intend being love songs have often one or plus very deep meanings going beyond, they are metaphors. So, they look like love songs, but they are not at the same time. Think of Fake Love, for example. It can easily a sad romantic love song if you want to see it like that, but it's more about self love, being unable to love ourselves. I can relate. BTS have often very deep, multilayered meanings to their songs. That's their magic, too. And I deeply regret not knowing Korean (and being a bit old too old to study it) because a lot of their poetry is lost in translation 😞
@@giovannabenso1754 youre both right tbh. i think seesaw and pluto are much deeper than "just love songs" but bts do have love songs that are just love songs not really too deep just clever and not as cheesy more relatable than the typical western love songs. example Like, just one day, for you, look here, 24/7 = heaven, converse high, dna, embarrassed, basically most of dark and wild lol but they have way more "love songs" that are much deeper like spring day, fake love, seesaw, pluto, love by namjoon etc and i also want armys to be more direct but also more inclusive i say to most when i remember is 1 bts song can have at least 5 different meanings theres the meaning bts originally say during album/song release. theres the general consensus across the fandom for another deeper meaning or theory mainly going by hints bts members say/do to let us know if they cant fully say like spring day for example or this song tear we were told its about their thoughts on possible disbanding but no details were shared no lines were explained etc so we have to just take that surface level meaning from the clue and if someone didnt get told or didnt watch the bring the soul i think where suga tells us theyd never know until they find out so theyll think a different interpretation, theres the individual meaning to the specific fan/listener so if spring day connects with someone who just lost a friend or family member who is anyone to take that away from them if it helps them cope? (we can make sure everyone knows the true meanings but we dont need to get angry at peoples first interpretations and we also shouldnt say blanket statements like bts dont make love songs because it seems the members wanna do more love songs as we seen from solo music and songs like who or seven or layover are still amazing even if theyre just about romantic love theyre grown men were gonna get their music about their love lifes now as weve already seen and they dont have to tell us more than whats in the music for it to be valid as their own experiences EVEN if they didnt write that particular song they chose it due to relating to it and while the old group love songs like just one day and like were surface level cute general these newer love songs are more direct more cheeky and more personal and vulnerable look at namjoons recent album the song nuts the final verse was personal so we can be a little less "BTS DONT DO LOVE SONGS ONLY SELF LOVE" its okay if they do love songs theyre still above the boyband stereotype even if they did a album of dynamite only type songs theyd still have enough songs to be real serious artists we dont have to defend them as fericly in that way once we tell someone bts has deepER songs we dont need to say they dont have love songs especially those who found bts through seven, who, nuts etc), the BU connections, and if any members explain further later on especially if it means something deeper to them personally rather than just the group like how yoongi has his own life goes on that partly connects to the groups life goes on but goes deeper etc.
@@giovannabenso1754 Exactly. This is what I meant in my comment. I also want to point out that”rarely” doesn’t mean “never.” However, I find that there are often several different levels of interpretation to a BTS song. Thank you.
@AlexaOleksa the love songs that were meant as love songs actually stopped after Dark & Wild. After that any song that seemed like a love song, was metaphorically deeper than that just romatic love.
BTS making fans of rap since 2013. I love them because they remind me of how rap started when Iwas younger. JHope's onomatopoeia-ic rapping that sounds like his heart is being ripped out. 💜 😘💜🫶🏻🫰🏻🏴
When I first heard this song I was in the beginning stages of a devastating and life altering break up of my marriage. It hit me in the face like a brick. I previously hated rap and avoided it as a music genre like the plague. BTS rapline have a remarkable way to touch you through their words.
As probably more people told you, that time they considered disbanding, Suga made his verses and showed them to the other members. They cried together, and, thank God, decided to keep being BTS. Congrats on giving a chance to other genres, even if you don't like it. A lot of us weren't lovers of rap before BTS. Their lyrics are so deep and meaningful! And when they need to diss their haters, they are savage! And I love it! (I'm 67yo).
I hope you listen to this one more time, now that you know it was written about their almost disbandment and how getting all their feelings out in this song brought them back together.
As someone else mentioned, this was written for and about the members themselves. They were overwhelmed by the meteoric rise to fame, the exhaustion of a demanding, unrelenting schedule, and the stress from jealous haters and anti-fans. They considered disbanding because they were emotionally and physically depleted. RM sings "you're my tear" as in tears falling, SUGA sings "you're my tear" as in ripping or tearing apart, and J-Hope sings "you're my fear" as in afraid of losing the relationships they built. They are all closer than brothers and love each other dearly. This was a very difficult time for all of them. Thank you for taking the time to listen and understand this incredibly moving song. 💜
I’m glad you gave this a chance.. I was not into rap at all until BTS.. only like BTS’s rap.. this is my favorite rap song ever.. to this day since this song came out I still get chills every single time I listen to this song.. and I lost count at how many times i listened to this song.. some time I had it on repeat in the car for the whole hour drive..lol.. I’m 59 by the way.. you should react to Louder than bombs, House of cards, The truth untold, Butterfly, Rain, Still with you, Hate you, 00:00 o’clock, Singularity, Whalen 52, Black swan, Your eyes tell, Pied piper.. oh there are so many more songs of BTS that are so good..
Each rapper says their chorus slightly different based on how they felt about the breakup. RM says tear like from crying, Suga says tear as in tearing his heart, and j-hope says fear because he feared they would breakup.
some lyrics of tear and what you said about it reminded me spring day, although stylistically the songs couldn't be further from each other "To be honest, I miss you, but I’ll erase you now, because doing so hurts me less than resenting you"
I found BTS in my 60s. I though I didn't like rap music. Then realized that I didn't like the lyrics of the rap I heard in the past. Their lyrics are excellent and their music is fantastic. I absolutely love BTS. 💜💜💜
BTS have so many songs that I adore and can't get enough of. They are so versatile and absolute artists. I was not a rap fan at all. Never have been but that changed the minute I found the BTS rap line and this song hit me straight between the eyes. It is now my absolute favorite. I appreciate that you are taking the time to truly listen to their music. Their lyrics are worth understanding. You should check out some of their rap songs that have explanation videos like Daeng and Ugh. Thanks again.
I know a video that would interest you! It's called "an introduction to BTS' discography (from chapter one)" by Boracity Magazine. It won't give you much spoilers (like show you songs), just a few snippets here and there, while explaining their major discography! The video just doesn't go over their solo projects after 2021, but that the comments can explain. It's a GREAT video to understand the themes of each album/song and the styles/genres used.
Thanks for reacting ! This song was originally written BY themselves FOR themselves as a group. It was a time where they considered disbanding (we don't really know the detailed reasons but they did say they were going through serious emotional and physical hard times individually and therefore as group). This song was a way to talk to each other and put the cards on the table, a way to express their inner feelings I guess. As brutal as some of the lyrics can be, they do not resent each other. They just accepted their own struggles and got up again together, went further together and reached places they didn't even let themselves consider reaching.
They didn't walk away from each other they are still BTS, they didn't disband isn't it amazing they wrote about their emotions at the thought of disbanding.
"there is no way to end this relationship in a way that isn´t gonna be devastating, don´t even attemp to fucking sugarcoat it" ..... spot on..... They love one another but the journey was hard and break up of the band would actually be devastating but to stay together required lots of strength and love! It´s one of my favorite songs, love the passion, the rawness, the realness!
Fun fact: I hated “Outro: Tear” when I first heard it; I was infatuated with “The truth untold” ( vocal line song) and didn’t see the appeal of “Outro: tear” in comparison to “The truth untold”. But now this song is in my Top 5 of BTS songs… it has raw emotions that just get to me. Now I love it soooo much.
We fans thought this song was a normal breakup song when it was released; we loved everything about it Then almost a year later we learned that BTS had considered disbanding - we had no idea and it killed us to know that the members had gone through such a terrible time Shortly after that, Suga shared that "Tear" wasn't about a normal breakup between a couple, but instead was about his feelings during the time when the disbandment was being considered The song, already a favorite among ARMYs, became much more poignant and meaningful
Ha! Your emo scale reminded me a viral ARMY tweet from years ago that said something like: Namjoon asked Yoongi in 2010 "hey, wanna join my emo band?" and now here we are. Obviously they make music in a wide range of genres with a wide range of subject matter, but deep lyrics and passionate delivery are a big part of it... Honestly the early BTS fandom that helped them rise were this bizarre mix of emo fans, hip hop fans and kpop fans all fused into one community. That's part of how we helped bring them to the world stage, because a lot of us had previous experience supporting indie artists, and we used the same techniques to make grassroots promo campaigns for BTS, since their company had no money, and there was zero existing path for an asian group to get recognised in the West. So we literally made our own flyers, made teams to request on radio, got super organised on social media, used word-of-mouth marketing etc. because we were determined to get them known!
Just so you know: -RM is saying tear as in crying (😢) -Suga is saying tear as in tearing paper (💔) -Jhope saying Fear (😨) Also Suga’s verse when he says, “Yeah, goodbyes are T.E.A.R because things like tears are a luxury” which I believe is a psychology term for stages of grief or something along those lines. So he is not only using the different homophones for the word but also using it as a psychology reference… On of my favorite interpretations of the song too is that it literally goes through the different stages of grief throughout the whole song!! I was not a rap fan before BTS. I use to actually hate it lol. However bc of BTS I hv grown to appreciate it more but still picky. Also from what I heard from ppl who understand Korean this song is even more deeper and poetic than ppl think.
BTS has the best lyrics. They are so clever in their writing. It can be symbolic of a relationship, even if it was a breakup of BTS. Like 134340 about pluto being no longer a planet and using it as a metafor for a relationship as well.
Hi I just came across you because of the song Blue and Grey written by V who was the one who originally got me into BTS. And of course now I really like all of BTS very much. Their layers and layers of musicality is incredible. I really appreciate the fact that you gave this song A Chance even when you're not into rap. And appreciated they're amazing performance. This song was a gift to the younger performers in BTS at a sensitive time when they were overwhelmed and almost disbanded. This song really was the glue that kept them going. And aren't we glad because they pushed beyond and went on to create so much incredible music. There is another song that they did that's not rap that's quite lyrically and beautifully stunning the live performance of "Let Go"and this song too was written for that very reason as well. Please check it out I will look forward to your reaction. I'm sure you will really like it. Thank you again.
What i like about their songwriting is the double and even triple interpretations they can often have. Its definitely written to seem as a breakup song when it was actually about disbandment. Same as how butterfly, while on the surface seems like a song about a suicidal loved one, is actually about the boys complicated feelings about fame and stardom. I dont think this means the first interpretations are "wrong" necessarily bc music is art and its up for interpretation, and bts definitely make the songs ambiguous on purpose so anyone can relate. It can be about both simultaneously, is what i mean.
Lyricism and cadence unmatched. J-hope, rm and agust d's (suga's) discographies are so diverse. I think you would find agust d ft. rm 'strange' really surprising!!!
This song is on the 2nd of the Love Yourself album trilogy: “Love Yourself: Tear” that had songs about love or relationships ending. (pt 1 was Her- about love beginning, and part 3 was Answer- about loving yourself first) The meaning of this song is about a painful romantic breakup, as far as Army knew when the album was released and they performed it on tour. It was a couple of years (?) later that Suga said that he wrote it in 2018 when they were considering disbanding due to physical and emotional exhaustion. He played the demo for the boys and they all cried. They worked it out over drinks and discussions and decided to stay together. 💜. It has touching lyrics as a breakup song but it became even more meaningful to Army after we learned the true origin. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
BTS are so underappreciated as lyricists by so many people. I just saw your reaction to Glen Campbell's Witchita Lineman and I am also not a huge country music fan but I love that song - old enough to remember when it was played on the radio. I think you would enjoy BTS's "Intro: Singularity". The production is incredible and it is the type of song you don't want to end. Just don't ask me to interpret the lyrics because they are incredibly deep and tie in with the entire theme of their Love Yourself trilogy of albums. It is a V solo and his honey voice is perfect for the neo-soul sound. If you want something instrumentally interesting, "Lie" which is a Jimin solo is amazing. RM's "Wildflower" is so good and the guest artist just blows me away every time I hear it. They have such an enormous catalogue of group and solo music, it is near impossible to not find something to suit your taste.
Hi! Greetings from Panamá! 🇵🇦 First, I want to say thank you for reacting to BTS and giving them the opportunity to get to know them better. As you said before, there is a reason they have so many followers and I am sure that the more you get to know them, the more you will understand. The lyrics of their songs mostly have a deeper meaning, for example, in this particular song, the lyrics are directed for the members, because in 2018 they were about to disband, so i think, when you have this context the lyrics take on an even more powerful meaning.
You should really watch Snooze by Agust D (= SUGA) next. There is a brilliant fan-made video with English subtitles by a channel called Elisssa that uses some footage from his documentary film (it has 27 million views).
I'm a fan of German conscious rap so I was very surprised when I ended up a fan of BTS. I don't really like their big pop hits but the mix tapes and b sides are what got me. if you're not a rap fan in general I think you might actually like something like RMs Mono mixtape
A pensioner I did not like rap music until I fell head over heals for the rap lines lyrics. Their cinematic MVs and the messaging. SUGA as AGUST D SNOOZE I listened to for 2 days straight at a very difficult timej. Listening to his voice keep repeating everything will be alright, as an afirmation, plus the pure beauty of Woosungs vocals on his part. Who needs therapy when you have BTS .
doesn't get more EMO than SUGA last of night of D-Day tour at the Seoul Final concert, sobbing his heart out while singing "Dear My Friend" with the audience singing for him when he was crying too hard to get the words out. Life-changing, because we've all ended important friendships even when it broke our hearts, and acknowledging that special grief is cathartic. Borahae!
Many people thought it was about a Romantic break up but it wasn't we found out later after we found out they were all going through a very hard time due to all the extra work no time off and a lot of hate that were getting and pressure of breaking into the USA market. They talked about disbanding. The Rappers wrote about what that would mean to them to disband they poured their hearts, emotions feeling about breaking up BTS. Suga played it for the group and they all cried and admitted that's not really want they wanted deep down and they knew what they needed really was a holiday away from it all which they did. This rap was Suga, RM and J Hope raw emotions of what the discussion of Disband meant to them. To RM it was tears to Suga it was tear and tearing his heart apart, for J Hope is was 'fear'.
No exaggeration nor discrediting other Artists but BTS has one of the best Raplines(RM, SUGA aka AGUST D that's his alias for his solo project & JHOPE) They are amazing lyricists, producers & composers who never fail to deliver their lines with so much cadence & emotion. They don't rap about girls, drugs etc. But their lyrics are always about them & their experiences growing up as an artists. Do check out - *Born Singer *UGH *JOKE by RM *WILD FLOWER by RM *DAECHWITA + HAEGUM +AMYGDALA (By AGUST D aka suga) it's a trilogy. *SNOOZE by AGUST D *MORE + ARSON by HOPE
Like you, I do not like rap music, or at least that is what I thought. But fir some reason I do not mind BTS rap. They managed to open my eyes to the cleverness of it and their lyrics with double, even triple, meanings blew me away. I realised that it is not rap music that I don't like but that I couldn't relate to the content of most rap. BTS members seem to be able to rap about their innermost thoughts and fears but in a way that is relatable to others. I am really starting to appreciate your reactions. You are taking the time to rely pay attention to what they are saying even if the genre isn't to your taste, and that shows what an intelligent person you really are, despite you saying that you are not. Thank you for taking the time for these reactions. True ARMYs can appreciate that not everyone is going to love their music but so long as people csn appreciate their hard work and effort as the artists they are, that is enough. I hope you will find some of their music to your taste because it is so diverse.
Mark it’s not considered stealing content as long as you give them credit for their work. I’m glad to see your progress in reacting to BTS. You’ve come a long way. Thank you for opening your mind. Please check out Singularity and Stigma live by V. I think you would like the truth untold, house of cards, zero o’clock ,film out, and your eyes tell. I look forward to more BTS content.
72 year old UK Army, like you I didn't like rap music before I got into BTS. For me it was the insertion of bits of rap in the songs that won me over. BTS rap is like US rap but not like it also, the subject matter is different and and the ubiquitous writhing girls are missing. Thank god. Personally I prefer the tracks with wonderful singing like Crystal Snow. Or the very intimate songs by Jimin like Letter or Closer than This. Another absolute favourite song is So What, which must be enjoyed as a live performance. Wonderful. Actually all BTS music is best heard from live performances.
Finding Your approach To BTS refreshing, so o subscribed today so hope you will react to The three foremost vocal line Songs House of cards (from the most Beautiful moment in life era) The truth untold (From the love yourself era) Zero O’clock (from the map of The soul era) All are available live wit Captions 💜🇨🇦
I didn’t like rap. Then, I fell HARD for Euphoria, Awake, Serendipity, Singularity…and then I dug into the rap, learned lyrics and some NTS back story and was hooked. 💜
Every time I see this video I'm not a rapper lover myself but since I got with BTS I love rap I love their rap But the point I'm saying is J. hope she has so much emotion in this song Along with the others the this song brings me the tears know what the song is about why it was written about And I'm 159 year-old I'm 159 year-old woman Never was into rap make me I liked Eminem OK give that Lyrics the song the some of these BTS songs Are these so Are just so touching and warm Helpful people
The replay value of this song may not be high for non-rap listeners or those new to BTS. I would give Ugh! a try and do the explanation video from DKDKTV.
Other have explained the background behind the song, but if somewhere down the line it catches your fancy - SUGA (as BTS) has another song based on it called 'Seesaw'. It's an easy listening song with weighty lyrics. I would recommend using 'Trivia 轉: Seesaw | BTS (방탄소년단) English Lyrics by DIAL 6137' for the reaction. The BTS rapline actually has a song about anger called 'UGH!'. There's even an explanation video on it to explain its details (BTS - 욱 UGH! Explained by a Korean). Their songs are always based off of something they want to personally express. None of it is hollow and hot air. So we usually spend a lot of time on the lyrics even if they are in a different language. If anything, they have intimate songs that they are able to present in a popular way. They have veiled songs but there are those that break the 4th wall too, so to speak. If you're interested in a song like that, I recommend their song 'Airplane Pt.2' ([ENG SUB] BTS (방탄소년단 ) - Airplane pt 2 @BTS COMEBACK SHOW by BANGTANXSave ME). It's Latin Pop. This is actually a B-track on the same album as 'Outro: Tear'.
I think you would really enjoy RM's Tiny Desk Concert, he takes introspection and lyricism to a whole new level and I can see you enjoying the easy music styles he displayed there. I think you would also really enjoy People by AgustD and Snooze by AgustD. People is introspective and intelligent, and Snooze is just deeply comforting with the chorus sung by Woosung of The Rose who I remember you liking. You might also enjoy Interlude Shadow. It is a song by Suga/AgustD where he essentially has an argument with himself using different rap styles and voice tones to convey the different directions he is being pulled in by his own wants and needs. Its an incredible work of rap and lyricism.
This song was written at a difficult time for the group, where they were thinking about whether they would split up or not. Suga put all his frustration into the melody and lyrics. After the moment came to an end, he saw he could adapt it to fit into the Love Yourself Tear album. (sorry for the mistakes, I used goggle translator to help me)
I have a recommendation for you: Spring Day + explanation video by Italian ARMY (there are several explanation videos out there but the one by Italian ARMY will give you the most context). This song is not their most popular one but it's probably the most honoured, especially in SK. The song has been dubbed 'the Queen' because it has never left Korean music charts, not even for one day, since it's release 7 years ago. So watch the MV first, then check the explanation video to understand why it's so popular. I don't know if you'll like the song or not but I think it might give you some newfound respect for BTS.
It's hard to understand the actual meaning of Outro: Tear if you're not deep into the fandom and that's totally fine. As many have pointed out, it was a song written when they were considering to disband. But for a casual fan or someone just casually listening to this song and assuming it's a break up song is fine too. That's the beauty of their songs, it always have double meanings. One that will easily get to general audience and one that ARMY could dissect and dig deeper. Their lyrics are the main reason I become ARMY.
I love your reactions to their songs and lyrics. You caught the meaning of each rapper's bars immediately. It doesn't really matter who they're talking about does it? They've clearly been through it themselves. I recommend you do House of Cards next. It is a beautiful jazz song with incredible vocals and lyrics. It also sounds like a breakup song but it's actually not. If anyone could catch it's meaning it would be you :)
LOL that is a high level of emo for BTS, not for Suga's solo carreer though xd My favourites bands of all times are pretty emo, like the smashing pumpkings, the cure, MCR, linkin park and all of those have hard hitting lyrics I think, Pearl jam is my favorite and has both dark and luminous lyrics, BTS is as a group and solo stuff is there with introspective lyrics sometimes in the middle of a poppy dance they can surprise you, really😂. I think the rappers are responsible for most of it.
The Guide to BTS the Bangtan 7 by Taylor Mari is was created for people to watch and and she's happy with Reactions as long Reactors don't claim it's their work if they put reaction to the ......... she's more than happy for reactions and as long as you don't miss bits so it's an alter form. so it's more a real reaction just stopping to make you own comments, ask your own questions.
9/10 times that you think one of their songs is about a romantic relationship... it's not. More often than not it's about self-love and love between friends and family.
@@SilverFang95 the Taylor guide is free! The first half is on UA-cam, the second is audio only due to a recording issue so he put in on patreon for free :)
Before BTS i would have said i hated rap. But its the lyrics that i hate from western rap and it is the depth and in many cases ripping their hearts open disuccing real issues the has endeared BTS rap to me.
I really do not relate to Tear yes i been on breakups However is not one of my favorites song evem if the liyrics are good and the beat and they do a good job Whoever theres other 25 song of them i can relate and i actually feel Whoever persona is one of my favorite of rm rap
Is it possible to add automatic subtitles to videos on Patreon? I intend to subscribe to watch but I don't speak English and if there are no subtitles it doesn't make sense to me.
So, I have a question about the patreon. Is there going to be a paywall over the free content reactions? Most ARMY youtubers who make these informational documentaries are doing it to be spread, so people can learn more about BTS. They put a lot of time and work into them, and then make them free to the public to watch. It doesn't sit right with me when someone takes free content and then makes people pay to watch them react to it.
No no. It’ll be going up behind a paywall, for early access and an unedited version of the video. An edited version will get released on UA-cam too, so if you want to wait for that you absolutely can.
@@BoraBlooded I understand you asking, it wouldn’t sit right with me either tbh, and I figure if I’m upfront about things from the start then no one needs to feel cheated!
@@markabusireactions Thank you, I appreciate that. Honestly, in the past there have been people who have tried to take advantage of ARMY and have been kind of predatory about their patreon. So it's really nice to see there's still genuine people out there.
In 2018 BTS seriously considered disbanding. We don’t know all the details but know enough that this song was written about it.
When I played the song for the members, we all cried together"
And later he has added:
""It was the toughest time of my life... I think all of us were a bit out of our minds, looking back... We were like, ‘We can’t do this.’ As we wrote ‘Tear’ we thought, ‘We have to write a song like this … let’s write a song for our members.’ On the outside, ‘Tear’ is about a breakup between lovers, but actually ‘Tear’ was a message to the members"
The chorus represents what losing bts meant for each of the rap-line members.
I hope that when June 2025 they still feel that way
FACTS
That and their contract with their label was nearing it's end which is why Big Hit asked if they wanted to renew and to really think about it if that was still what they wanted.
They all thought about it individually and as a group and eventually came to the conclusion that they they still had the passion to drive forward and make music together.
@@ruthfischer7615 Kinda, it was 2-3 years before their contracts ended. They renewed with BigHit that year, almost 2 years before the end of their contracts because they came out of it that confident in bts :)
@@iduli02
Absolutly. 💜
But the trigger was the question from their label.
They poetry is lost in translation. Maybe if they had a poet translate for them. 😘🫰🏻🫶🏻
I cry everytime.
Others have told you the background for Outro: Tear so I'll just add this: In true BTS style they "hid" a third meaning of tear in the song (besides teardrop and ripping). Suga's lyrics say T.E.A.R. instead of just tear. That's actually a psychological model by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross for dealing with grief or any kind of loss:
T - To accept the reality of the loss
E - Experience the pain of the loss
A - Adjust to the new environment without the lost person
R - Reinvest in the new reality
These guys are lyrical kings indeed.
💜
Ditto with you.. yes Louder than bombs he will love
Been a HUGE fan of this performance for 3 years now and only NOW I found this out! Thank you!
Same
I see this kind of comment pretty often recently, and obviously that's your experience so you're free to say it...

React to RM in "Wildflower" and Suga in "Snooze" - masterpieces!!
And J-hope's "Equal sign" as well.
Snooze has become my new favorite song. Stunning--and I also don't like rap, except for BTS rap.

YES ! YES !
Wdym bts doesn't write romantic songs? Huge chunk of Bts discography are love songs, they also have breakup ( after the break up) songs: Seesaw, Pluto
@@giovannabenso1754 youre both right tbh. i think seesaw and pluto are much deeper than "just love songs"
but bts do have love songs that are just love songs not really too deep just clever and not as cheesy more relatable than the typical western love songs. example Like, just one day, for you, look here, 24/7 = heaven, converse high, dna, embarrassed, basically most of dark and wild lol
but they have way more "love songs" that are much deeper like spring day, fake love, seesaw, pluto, love by namjoon etc
and i also want armys to be more direct but also more inclusive i say to most when i remember is 1 bts song can have at least 5 different meanings theres the meaning bts originally say during album/song release. theres the general consensus across the fandom for another deeper meaning or theory mainly going by hints bts members say/do to let us know if they cant fully say like spring day for example or this song tear we were told its about their thoughts on possible disbanding but no details were shared no lines were explained etc so we have to just take that surface level meaning from the clue and if someone didnt get told or didnt watch the bring the soul i think where suga tells us theyd never know until they find out so theyll think a different interpretation, theres the individual meaning to the specific fan/listener so if spring day connects with someone who just lost a friend or family member who is anyone to take that away from them if it helps them cope?

(I'm 67yo).
Seriously, I used to dislike rap, but BTS has taught me how great it can be.
The song's introduction, with isolated piano notes playing here and there, resembles drops...who knows, tears...
RM says tear like from crying, Suga says tear as in tearing his heart, and j-hope says fear because he feared they would breakup.
some lyrics of tear and what you said about it reminded me spring day, although stylistically the songs couldn't be further from each other
"To be honest, I miss you, but I’ll erase you now, because doing so hurts me less than resenting you"
I found BTS in my 60s.
BTS has the most expressive rappers and I love that the way they feel the song is unique and makes me feel part of it WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST GROUP
I was never into rap before BTS. It helps to think of rap as it should be- rhythm and poetry- because that's what these men write.
Omg yes!!
I love that one sm!
It gets most of their discography.
But not all her interpretations are that great.
But for an overview it is superb.
RM 🔥 SUGA 🔥 J-HOPE 🔥 THE BEST RAPLINE
We fans thought this song was a normal breakup song when it was released; we loved everything about it
Then almost a year later we learned that BTS had considered disbanding - we had no idea and it killed us to know that the members had gone through such a terrible time
Shortly after that, Suga shared that "Tear" wasn't about a normal breakup between a couple, but instead was about his feelings during the time when the disbandment was being considered
The song, already a favorite among ARMYs, became much more poignant and meaningful
Ha! Your emo scale reminded me a viral ARMY tweet from years ago that said something like:
Namjoon asked Yoongi in 2010 "hey, wanna join my emo band?" and now here we are.
This song is in my top ten list from hundreds of BTS songs...🔥🔥🔥🔥💜
Just so you know:
-RM is saying tear as in crying (😢)
-Suga is saying tear as in tearing paper (💔)
-Jhope saying Fear (😨)
Also Suga’s verse when he says, “Yeah, goodbyes are T.E.A.R because things like tears are a luxury” which I believe is a psychology term for stages of grief or something along those lines. So he is not only using the different homophones for the word but also using it as a psychology reference…
On of my favorite interpretations of the song too is that it literally goes through the different stages of grief throughout the whole song!!
It's not anger as much as the feeling of agony that this always makes me feel.
Lyricism and cadence unmatched. J-hope, rm and agust d's (suga's) discographies are so diverse. I think you would find agust d ft. rm 'strange' really surprising!!!
The lyrics of the rapline songs are awesome, i really like Ugh! and Ddaeng, along with the 4 cyphers of course
The look on his face when he was reading sugas verse I was like. Yup. We got another one boys. Good job. 7:01
Anguish rather than anger.
Because of them considering disbanding of the group due to hate and pressure.
I can only listen to BTS rap song and im not a Kpop fan, but a BTS fan💜💜 ( with all due respect to Rap and Kpop)
They worked it out over
drinks and discussions and decided to stay together. 💜. It has touching lyrics as a breakup song but it became even more meaningful to Army after we learned the true origin. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I knew about the disbandment connection, didn't know these details💔
Thanks💜
I will support you on Patreon for BTS rabbithole ❤
There is no way to not like this song. So glad you enjoyed it😊. Our rappers are the best, 3 kings❤❤❤
I really like this song, can recognize it by the first note
Hi! Greetings from Panamá! 🇵🇦
First, I want to say thank you for reacting to BTS and giving them the
opportunity to get to know them better.
I Love this song so much ❤💜💜
A pensioner I did not like rap music until I fell head over heals for the rap lines lyrics.
You need to watch rm wildflower mv and suga Agust d mv and snooze and polar night and ugh busan live performance
doesn't get more EMO than SUGA last of night of D-Day tour at the Seoul Final concert, sobbing his heart out while singing "Dear My Friend" with the audience singing for him when he was crying too hard to get the words out.

I didn’t like rap. Then, I fell HARD for Euphoria, Awake, Serendipity, Singularity…and then I dug into the rap, learned lyrics and some NTS back story and was hooked. 💜
Every time I see this video I'm not a rapper lover myself but since I got with BTS I love rap I love their rap But the point I'm saying is J. hope she has so much emotion in this song Along with the others the this song brings me the tears know what the song is about why it was written about And I'm 159 year-old I'm 159 year-old woman Never was into rap make me I liked Eminem OK give that Lyrics the song the some of these BTS songs Are these so Are just so touching and warm Helpful people
he 59"
they are really talented rappers . you should see their live performance at the Busan concert, rapper line
The replay value of this song may not be high for non-rap listeners or those new to BTS. I would give Ugh! a try and do the explanation video from DKDKTV.
Try House of Cards Live if you like Vocals
I loved this reaction. 💜
Thank you!!
I think you’d enjoy house of cards, snooze, lie
9/10 times that you think one of their songs is about a romantic relationship... it's not. More often than not it's about self-love and love between friends and family.
reaction al festa 2021 de bts, please, te encantara. cuidate y bendicionnes.
Check out Seesaw by Suga. He also did an acoustic version at his solo concerts where he just sits and plays the guitar.

Before BTS i would have said i hated rap. But its the lyrics that i hate from western rap and it is the depth and in many cases ripping their hearts open disuccing real issues the has endeared BTS rap to me.
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I didn´t listen to any rap at all. Me, I am a 51 yo rock lover now an alll and all Army and listening to this 3 rppers all the time.

Is it possible to add automatic subtitles to videos on Patreon? I intend to subscribe to watch but I don't speak English and if there are no subtitles it doesn't make sense to me.
Oh I’m not sure! I can look into it!
@@markabusireactions Thanks 💜
I stopped listening to music because of rap. But that changed with BTS, I love BTS rap and still don’t like rap in general.
@@markabusireactions okay, that's reasonable. Thank you for clarifying 💜
