Thanks for the info. I was going to buy a brand new diesel about 8 years ago. About the same time, a buddy of mine bought a new one …. And talked me out of it. I felt bad for him because he had sooooo many emissions problems. It was constantly in the shop. The technician at the dealership told him that the emissions were only gonna get worse. After a few years, he sold it and replaced it with an 04. I listened and bought an O2 and glad I did. Close to 400,000 miles now…. i’ve never had a serious issue other than maintenance.
I had my 5th gen Cummins tuned/remapped. It was crazy how much better it performed. Sounded great too. But to anyone who’s considering deleting keep in mind it’s quite a headache trying to find a reputable tuner. Tuning is like a speakeasy nowadays.
I agree with you to a point . You should have made the clear difference between “box tuners” and EFI live programmers . They rewrite your ECM and TCM and you don’t need to send them out . I know you and I know that but wish you made it clear that there’s a clear line between the 2.
I bought my 2002 GMC 2500 Sierra in 2003 from original owner and almost immediately ordered a 4” stainless exhaust system, a Gale Banks Six-gun tuner package with optional “ Speed loader “ and the Banks “ Big head waste gate”. I did All the install myself over a couple consecutive weekends and set the waste-gate for only 28 pounds of boost ( for turbo longevity and to keep head gaskets in place ) as back then that was supposedly the upper limits for the LB-7 . Long story short it’s been in this same state ( except for S&B cold air intake with oiled filter & an Air-Dog 100 G.P.H. Lift pump . ( done after replacing all 8 injectors finally at 136,000 miles ) . It has towed just about everything I have hooked to the trailer ball without any complaints or issues , gets 18-22 mpg on open roads empty , and around 14-16 with my 30 ft toy-hauler in tow . With the lower 3 settings the truck has almost zero smoke on acceleration and is in the “ Safe zones “ , then at positions 4-6 it really wakes up and in # 6 position ( with optional speed loader ) is supposed to be making around 155 hp more than the stock 300 flywheel hp as rated by G.M. I honestly cannot complain one bit about any of the optional parts I have added . My truck is NOT the fastest Diesel pickup on the road today for sure , but at almost 23 years old now it’s definitely been one of the most reliable vehicles I’ve ever owned , hands down . I do religious oil changes , and run the PPE LargerEngine oil & Trans Filters , plus Either Chevron Delo -400 or Shell Rotella oils. Other than a water pump and a transfer case pump -rub kit ( as a precautionary measure as it’s nearing the 150,000 mile mark where a lot fail) it has really been mostly trouble free considering the abuse it sometimes gets . I’m fortunate my rig had almost No Emmision related factory equipment on it , unlike rigs of today , and as a result feel it will be a Cold Day in HELL before I personally step up to buy a newer “ ECO- FRIENDLY “ Diesel . Almost all the new ones are now designed in one form or another to have a failure of some sort prematurely shortening the engines lifespan. Sorry , just my input here and my 2 cents worth of opinion . Love your channel, and all you do & hopefully continue to do for all your viewers. Thanks 👍👍
They are the most reliable, I have a 2002 LB7 and no major problems, besides me forgetting 4wd was on and jumped on hwy and destroyed my front differential , found a used one for $150 and installed myself other than that she's very reliable at 280000 miles
About the same here.03 D/max bought new. Have 229K on the dial now. Cold air intake- straight exhaust exiting in front of rear tire. Faas lift pump banks waste gate big head. Stock otherwise. Big on maintenance, returning great reliability.
I have been running a Banks after market tuning box on my 2019 LP5 fort the past two years with no adverse effects. Given, fuel economy has gone down about 3 mpg, for the added performance . I primarily drive at highway speeds for extended periods, so no REGEN problems here. Hopes this helps those on the fence about obtaining Moderate HP gains from your newer Duramax.
I’ve been looking into the banks derringer. If you had it on city tune do you think you would get better mileage or still think you would lose 3 mpg on every tune.
I have the Derringer on my 2022 and the thing will cause the truck to stutter when set to the higher levels, contact Banks several times and they have no fix.
@HighRevDesigns Banks is the most overrated name in the diesel world. Other than maybe their intakes and piping nothing they make is any better than their competitors and comes at a significant price premium.
Oh man thank you Josh I just bought my first diesel like I previously told you and I really take what you teach me seriously I bought a 2008 lmm Duramax it's absolutely Mint condition Cali truck it was sold here too I'm serious mint condition 130,000 on it I've been looking for a year and watched all your videos over and over this is by far the greatest Duramax channel on social media by far I'm very thankful for your channel thank you brother so much!!!
I've had an Edge CTS3 Evolution on my 2015 LML for about a year. It is still a stock truck aside from the sump and Airdog I installed. I haven't had any issues yet. I run it on the high tune but don't beat on the truck. It is peppy for sure when I need it. Fingers crossed.
I would never violate the EPA rules, but I know a guy with a mostly stock LBZ who has been running a Superchips Flashpak for over 12 years (125k miles) much of it pulling a 15k camper. Runs a tow tune 90% of the time. No doubt a custom tune would be better. The display is jacked, but hand calculated, gets about 2mpg unloaded and 1mpg pulling. Gets 3mpg better with the performance tune, but "he" doesn't like the drivability. Like you, if I get a newer diesel, I would leave it stock.
Honestly unless you have a trailer hooked to your truck more than 50% of the time I don't think diesel is the way to go anymore. We have a gas 7.3 at work and it pulls better than an older 6.7 cummins, gets around the same milage as a 6.7 powerstroke without all the headaches of a modern emissions intact diesel.
@@calebscott1100 agree, if I didn't have a big camper, I wouldn't want the diesel. My truck is paid for, and I'm not interested in replacing it anytime soon.
Awesome advice. I have a 2019 L5P. I was going to put a box tune on it from Banks. With the knowledge that I have now I am leaning against it. I have 85,000 miles on it with 150,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. I believe I will stay stock.
I’ve ran a PPE Hot +2 on my LBZ for the past 15 years with ZERO problems. Ran the 90 tune for most of its life and have had it on the 160 tune for the past 3 years. If I tow heavy, I back it down. But for light towing I leave it on the 160. I don’t beat on my truck, I’m very careful when it’s shifting from 4-5, & 5-6 and even more careful when downshifting under acceleration. But if not towing, I don’t hesitate to floor it when necessary. I have experienced converter shutter a few times under hard acceleration but never slipping of gears, or Limp Mode. Stock Allison trans btw. I’ve always felt that I’m on borrowed time but so far, so good.
I got it at a dealer right now and I think they are going to demon move the new transmission I remove the pulsar three times and it didn’t change anything but I don’t think the pulsar is very good quality and is going to get sold I love my truck but I don’t know if I wanna stick 10,000 in a 2017 that I never driven for more than five months I better just trader in I’m sure somebody will buy it and get a warranty with it And Dealer said that shift fine so It only shows up when you’re towing heavy
I really wish I had someone close I could actually talk to and have an honest conversation about my LMM and what the best ideas are moving forward. Everyone I talk to just wants to sell their parts or services instead of being honest. Really difficult to make decisions or know whether the decisions I've made were good or not.
I feel you.... I just bought a LML and only now beginning to know anything about a diesel engine and it's a bit overwhelming for me. Huge investment for me so I'm all in now... unfortunately I have wet floorboards so I'm removing my interior to figure out what's happening 😂😂
2008 3500hd LMM 9 city 11 hwy upon purchase. Purchased a Duramilager box tuner doubled my mileage a darn near as much in throttle response. Programmed economy tune into it, all I was looking for was something to better fuel economy, it's HSP all around Except the EGR it's all still factory. Dpf regins every 400 mile-ish with average 14 to 16 grams of soot, and does it in less than 15 miles. I put about 1 oz of Everyday Diesel Treatment in about every 2 or 3 top off's,, to help on the soot buildup and it definitely has. Motors all stock except for bolt ones that I did from your channel 😉
Deleting kits is the best way to go around for diesels. No if or buts about it. Have done it to 3 rams and have between 110-320k miles without issues. But if you run your truck to the ground and dont upgrade your truck (i.e turbo, tranny, etc) then youll jack up your truck.
QUICK QUESTION, 2009 gmc hd3500 diesel no traction control switch, trying to climb a muddy hill tires break loose trucks power shuts down majorly. What choices do I have to work around this ?
Yea I wanted to stay in a more affordable range and avoid emissions junk, I am a Chevy guy and was looking at a 2009 Duramax but ultimately ended up buying a 99’ 7.3 powerstroke
Sooo funny about crazy Larry mode! I have a 2005 LLY with the box bullydog OB2 plug in tuner, and it has crazy Larry mode installed! The guy who sold me the truck said he had to sign a waiver to get it LOL. I had it in crazy Larry for a little, but it just smoked way too much when getting on the pedal, so I now keep it in economy mode, still hauls ass
been rocking a banks 6 gun on my 06 duramax for a few years and loved the lil extra power for the price! will still be getting a tuner when my truck eventually goes on a diet.
My old lb7 I had a edge juice plugged in since I bought it truck had 26k on it dealer did injectors at like 90k I finally blew head gaskets at 180k truck ran on tune 4 everyday unless I was towing then i would turn it down to 2 never had any issues other than known issues with them trucks and it was a beast 20+ mpg if I kept my foot out of it
I have been running the Banks Derringer tuner on my 2021 gmc L5P and i have had several fuel rail pressure CEL. Just actually brought it to the dealer this week same issue so the Derringer is not installed currently, was debating installing it and then i came across the vid. Now I'm really leaning on not installing it back on the truck👍
Running a Banks system in my 2018 L5P with no issues. With the exception of getting some bad DEF once. Although I keep it turned down most of the time.
I'm running the Derringer, Ram Air and Pedal Monster on my 2017 L5P. Smiles for miles, Only negative I've seen is increased soot levels running over stock.
Sometimes I see a brand new Duramax or Cummins and think I'd like a truck like that, then The next day someone is having emissions problems and am gladdened to have my pre-emissions LBZ
Same I have had it for 10 years and love my LBZ after seeing the issues the newer ones have with the emissions I will put a new motor and or transmission in it before I will get a new one
Yes I dot the pulsar v3 to stay emissions compliant after about 23k miles it whipped out my fuel system and cause the dealership to pull their hair out to diagnose. Cost me a dpf filter and 1.5 months of downtime. Pulsar wouldn't do anything for the repair. The dealship disconnected the pulsar after replacing fuel system fixed the issue. Stay far away
I'll stay with my gas Engines for know haven't decided on what type of diesel truck I would prefer to buy but still enjoy your lbz old red and wife max builds if any truck might be a cat eye duramax but I also love Ford trucks so if I had 2 options on a diesel truck might have to stick with a chevy over a Ford
So I have a 2007lbz had a banks economind with the man machine interface. Mileage didn't change much. But after a few years I had problems with the map sensor and maf sensor. Eventually with the turbo sensor. Took it off all codes went away. After a couple months of stock had a local timer tune with a national tuners tune with the sp5 switch. Still stock emissions. Have not had those codes for a few years.5 months at an army school now I do need to upgrade my turbo due to the p003a code.
Completely,100% agree! If it's newer,DPF equipped, either leave it alone or go all out and tune it wild.No room for in between. As for so-called "reliability" with new truck and cars?Feed that hype to someone else dumb enough to believe that joke.Stick with old school,or tune the unnecessary crap off the new. Hope you have a Happy New Year and again, thank you for your service!
Serious Question .. Some tunes are cleaner or better for the def system right? Duramaxtuner claims their tunes are refined and maybe .001% then factory ? what's your thoughts please on that .FYI my tune from Dmaxtuner seems to show what they are selling ...No bashing please just looking for a real conversation here .
Thanks for sharing. The 2008 GMC i have had been using a box tuner for 10 years (very low annual mileage) but since this past summer it's a giant "paper weight" because it re generates the DPF EVERY TIME I drive it no matter the miles per day. I still don't have the time or money to fix it. Its a shame because I have to use a 2011 chevy 2500HD with a weak gas 6 liter for trailer duty!
The best thing would be would be tuning your truck on a Dyno or the street and make the changes to what the truck wants. When you send your ECU off to the tuner they’re guessing what your truck will do with whatever you have done with it they can’t actually see the numbers it’s running at. In my eyes it’s the same thing as one of those box tuners
Get a real tune. The "boxes" spoof what your actual ECU sees. If it's available go get a actual dyno tune done... Also watch the tunes that you use with those screens that get loaded to your ecu, most of the time they are a canned tune aka not specific to your engine. Dyno tunes are absolutely the way to go...
That is why I have a 2004 GMC sierra with the LLY Duramax. Have a great place here in Utah. Their name is Gillett diesel and they said a remap would be the best thing to do to my truck. I had an old edge tuner. It failed and all it did was blow black smoke and run like crap. Until unhooked it. I will never ever own anything newer than a 2007.
I've got a 2003 California emissions LB7 and it's tuned with Duramax Tuners' spade (efi live hardeware) and I love it. Box tuners only adjust a handful of parameters whereas custom tuning adjusts most if not all the parameters. Great explanation. 👍🏻
I bought a Super Chip programmer for my '05 Duramax on day one. I was provided with a company truck over the last 25 years of my career so she got plenty of rest. Now after 16 years and 300K plus miles I have no complaints. Typically I use the tow/perform setting because it seems every time I use high performance an unexpected pull crops up and it takes 30 or 40 miles of driving for the transmission to "learn" the changes.
Truckmaster... Josh.. you couldn't have said it better. Your honesty is representative of your professionalism. Older diesel pre-emissions the sky is the limit... or your wallet and credit cards anyway ! GO FOR IT. But on the new trucks ... leave it stock. Other then a few simple bolt on items. The juice is not worth the squeeze. Another good point you made. The horse power and torque gains... for the loss of warranty and it's illegal to delete it... and resale value... and everything else. Are not really that great. If you want a real hot rod... tractor pull... drag truck.. HOT ROD. Buy a older truck and build it and build it right. Top end bottom end exhaust and intake drive train... build a hot rod. But yeah.. your completely right. If you own a new truck. Leave it stock. Enjoy it and take care of it. It will last a long time. Most importantly you won't have any problems that cannot be worked on by any shop or dealership if needed. As always Truckmaster you provided some great information. Happy New Year to you and yours and of course the guys at RDS and KODIAK. 😎👍
I just bought an 2005 lly d max with 336 thousand miles on it. One owner nothing cut up at all everything is bone stock It still runs great. But has a few little problems
It seems like they monitor and test everything to make sure it's safe sensors everywhere on test trucks on bank youtube vedios I bought a derringer tuner but have not installed yet been waiting to get to it almost a year now lol. I did install the idash monitor love that thing
Good thing i click on this video just got me a 2024 duramax silverado i was looking into something but ill just let ride the way it came thank for the information bud
05’ dodge with Banks. Transmission can’t handle the power. Some say Banks isn’t as powerful as bulldog or others but why put more power in if the transmission won’t put it out. Not one issue and I have had it for some 14 years.
Hi Truck Master have a question where would I send my ECU for Remapping to be specific to my truck 2019 f350 6.7 powerstroke ? Who do you recommend ? Or what about the bank's Derringer? With all the after market up grades I done to replace Problematic OEM Factory Parts. Plus deleted as well with 70 tow tune. Daily driver for most part. Nothing extreme. Your video's are very informative TIA
Very good helpful video keep up the good work it’s always good for people to know this information especially with these newer diesel trucks with all the BS on them💯
Glad I found this vid. I have a 2020 sierra 2500HD and was thinking about doing a box tuner and have been on the fence about it...truck is still under factory warranty and only mod is an S&B intake system. Do you think the hot and/or cold intercooler tube upgrades help with anything at all on an otherwise stock truck? Anything I can do to help hear some of that turbo sound without deleting the truck or upgrading turbo? These new truck turbos are way too quiet lol.
just recently joined the Diesel gang got a LMM i have a efi live tuner and 4 inch exhaust sitting in my garage waiting for install. my main issue is longtivity its my work truck/ weekend camping trip machine not looking for huge power.. i haven't looked into egr deletes looks like i need to.
I just bought an LB7 that came with a box tuner. It glitches out on me and bricked my ecu 😢 currently working on getting it fixed. I should have known better will be spending the money for motor ops tuning.
Some will set off service engine lights.Went to a class on the Cummins, instructor encountered this showing a transmission code.Found out it was the tuner box that caused the code
I've gotten to a point where I just have decided to leave my trucks stock from now on. It's becoming too hard to tune trucks way to expensive and on a $90,000+ truck to blow the warranty for some extra power that I really don't need doesn't seem worth it anymore. I have used emissions on tuning worked great but at some point, I just don't care to flash the ecm's in these trucks anymore.
Is a tuner that plugs into the main engine harness under the hood like the Banks 6 Gun or the Edge considered a box tuner? Is EFI Live considered a box tuner?
Hey I use ezylink with emissions applied with the 5 switch I've had excellent experience with it for towing my toy hauler and as a weekend driver I still have not turned it all the way up I do run a FSS system on it too . 16 lml with all the emissions still intact. But you are right if I did buy a new one I would leave it stock can't afford to fix or anything else to them .
Very well said Basically Be safe than SORRY!!! I do have a question VSE has a engineered part for CCV's. What's your view on that? Oil tube, boost block and CCV reroute, to prevent engine run away.
I enjoyed this video. It was very real. It reaffirmed that I will never sell/trade my 06 dmax... I use efi live on it among other mods, and it's pretty mean, it makes u sad that they choke out the new stuff so much
I have a stealth module on my 18 L5P for a couple months now and have noticed it does regen more often . Do I need to take the module off ? I asked stealth about it and said there module should not affect regens .
stealth sucks either run stock or if your looking for inline banks is better but if your trying to go full emissions intact tune look at calibrated power aka duramax tuner
So a box tuner would be like an edge Cts3? Doesn’t he have that edge in his trucks? Plus I seen remapping of the ecu with a switch, how does that work?
I have got box on my LML. Ive got a Stealth Programmer. But I didn't have to plug it into the obd2 I went under the hood and plugged it under there. Now it doesn't have stupid high numbers I think tune 3 is like 90 hp. I will say when I'm in the mountains I've got the truck does got into regen more than at sea level. Luckily I live at sea level. What's your guys thought?
Regear to a lower gear set higher numerically. I once had a Ram with 3.55 gears and I regeared to 4.56. It was amazing and way more noticeable than any engine mods I could do.
What is your opinion of TCM relocation after failure? I have a LMM Duramax and just dropped 5K on a NEW old stock TCM and im wondering if i need to relocate it to prevent a failure from heat soak again. It was original to the truck (2009 with 120k) before it failed. Should have the new TCM in the mail on Thursday so trying to figure it out before i remount it to the shroud if there is a better option. Sorry this is off topic for the video im commenting on.
As far as can tunes go. I’ve used edge cts3 on quite a of my Dmaxs and they have never did me wrong. I know my LB7 loves that programmer. I keep it on tune 5 and has been on it for years, not a single problem. But I just got a L5P.. I really wish someone could tell me how to get rid of the dpf? I just want that ticking bomb gone and would like to put a straight exhaust on it. @truckmaster help me out!
With emissions stuff even stock has enough issues! Lucky I’m up in Canada and get to have a “off-road vehicle” never has been more reliable and more power since changing it.
What is your opinion on efi live tunes? I have a lb7 and when I’m in tune 5 for more than 10 minutes my trans will randomly go into limp mode. Is this a tune or a trans issue. It will never go into limp no matter how hard I drive it unless I’m in in tune 5.
Nice video! So I’m moving to Indiana and I wanna get an 06-07 LBZ. They do have emissions there. So what mods can I do and still pass emissions?? Anyone’s help would be greatly appreciated or if you live in Indiana and what you did to your trucks? Thanks

100% correct it's way more expensive to get custom tunes but we'll worth it

Bought my 2014 Jan 1st of 2018 and been running Banks ever since and have had zero issues

There’s a reason the box tuners are so much cheaper. Great video Josh. The L5P is an absolute monster when deleted.
I got it at a dealer right now and I think they are going to demon move the new transmission
I remove the pulsar three times and it didn’t change anything but I don’t think the pulsar is very good quality and is going to get sold
I love my truck but I don’t know if I wanna stick 10,000 in a 2017 that I never driven for more than five months
I better just trader in
I’m sure somebody will buy it and get a warranty with it
And Dealer said that shift fine so
It only shows up when you’re towing heavy
I really wish I had someone close I could actually talk to and have an honest conversation about my LMM and what the best ideas are moving forward. Everyone I talk to just wants to sell their parts or services instead of being honest. Really difficult to make decisions or know whether the decisions I've made were good or not.
Go on the forums and Facebook groups bud
That’s an insane difference lol
@@ajess01111 lmao yea, the 7.3 served me well but I had an itch so I ended up selling it and getting a 2007.5 LMM
That tune is a riot 😂
@@TruckMaster I also noticed the transmission would slip a little when getting on the gas. For some reason Mrs. Allision doesn't like that tune!
been rocking a banks 6 gun on my 06 duramax for a few years and loved the lil extra power for the price! will still be getting a tuner when my truck eventually goes on a diet.
Lml with edge cts3 with no issues. I've been running it for 3 years now. Other than display changing on its own during winter months.
I’m staying stock. 2020 GMC SIERRA 6.6 Duramax.
That’s what I would do.
Great video. Custom sotf tunes on my king ranch. It’s definitely pay to play. Owning, tuning and maintaining a diesel is very expensive.
I had so many issues with my banks I-dash literally took it off and everything went back to normal. And worked perfectly
My 06 Cummins been tuned for 14 years no problems. Diablo Predator. Great power 3 mpg better 💪🏻👍
Thanks for being brutally honest!
Thanks for the content! Derringer on my L5P. No issues .
How long have you had the Derringer and what are your thoughts of it. Any issues
I've got an 05 6.0 and have an sct x4 with gearhead tunes and I've not had an issue at all
I've got a 2003 California emissions LB7 and it's tuned with Duramax Tuners' spade (efi live hardeware) and I love it. Box tuners only adjust a handful of parameters whereas custom tuning adjusts most if not all the parameters.
Great explanation. 👍🏻
What about 2008 LMM no DEF but has particulate filter.. would a box tuner be ok for towing and better gas mileage? I won’t go to 5.
😎👍
Thanks again 🙏
So basically dont run canned tuners with emmsions on? If your running stock power with a delete, and just clear the codes, all will be well?
Hello Josh. You learn from experience. Then you give out the information for others to know.
Do you have any recommendations for ecm repair services? My 2006 ecm is fried, and was an original stock LLY tune.
I just bought an 2005 lly d max with 336 thousand miles on it. One owner nothing cut up at all everything is bone stock It still runs great. But has a few little problems
Same here. Have you done anything new to it?
@@diego98370 no it’s just setting in a shed waiting for me to find the perfect 3+3 square body k30 to transplant it into my man
Banks claims to monitor and control temps. They say that is the problem with most of the plug in units.
Yes, plus the tranny …. I have 06 Cummins mildly warmed up and run perfectly, I plan on keeping it that way
Does the pedal monster or pedal commander have the same negative results? I have a 2017 l5p. I've seen alot of people that says they work.
05’ dodge with Banks. Transmission can’t handle the power. Some say Banks isn’t as powerful as bulldog or others but why put more power in if the transmission won’t put it out. Not one issue and I have had it for some 14 years.
@truckmaster so does this mean you wouldn’t or would steer away from installing the pulsar ?
Awesome video brother!! Need you to look over my early 2004 LB7 bought it with someone who left a tune on the ECM.
Your video's are very informative
TIA
I tuned my ‘06 deleted and tuned my ‘12. Lbz blew head gaskets. Lml head gaskets and broke crank. My l5p is staying stock.
Very good helpful video keep up the good work it’s always good for people to know this information especially with these newer diesel trucks with all the BS on them💯
Listened to your entire video and have been on the fence of the Pulsar. What’s your thoughts of that unit and Edge’s claims?
I just installed an Efi live. I have to drive home 300 miles. Can I do that with my dpf installed?
No you have to remove it, technically you can still drive it but it will eventually get clogged if you don’t remove it
Glad I found this vid.
Josh, Great Content as always, Happy Holidays to you and your family
Thanks David
Thank you I would love to update my 2016 Silverado 2500 4X4LTX duramax
Is BANKS tuner good enough?
just recently joined the Diesel gang got a LMM i have a efi live tuner and 4 inch exhaust sitting in my garage waiting for install. my main issue is longtivity its my work truck/ weekend camping trip machine not looking for huge power.. i haven't looked into egr deletes looks like i need to.
Why is the stock a bad way to keep?
I just bought an LB7 that came with a box tuner. It glitches out on me and bricked my ecu 😢 currently working on getting it fixed. I should have known better will be spending the money for motor ops tuning.
Some will set off service engine lights.Went to a class on the Cummins, instructor encountered this showing a transmission code.Found out it was the tuner box that caused the code
What code?
I've gotten to a point where I just have decided to leave my trucks stock from now on. It's becoming too hard to tune trucks way to expensive and on a $90,000+ truck to blow the warranty for some extra power that I really don't need doesn't seem worth it anymore. I have used emissions on tuning worked great but at some point, I just don't care to flash the ecm's in these trucks anymore.
In line tuner like derringer won't void warranty
I didn’t know fye live z link “custom tuning” were “box tunes” because box tuners don’t ask for serial numbers and vin numbers
Is a tuner that plugs into the main engine harness under the hood like the Banks 6 Gun or the Edge considered a box tuner? Is EFI Live considered a box tuner?
So I’ve heard nothing but good things about a company called stealth tuners…what’s your thought on them?
Hey I use ezylink with emissions applied with the 5 switch I've had excellent experience with it for towing my toy hauler and as a weekend driver I still have not turned it all the way up I do run a FSS system on it too . 16 lml with all the emissions still intact. But you are right if I did buy a new one I would leave it stock can't afford to fix or anything else to them .
I'm interested in the banks six gun for my LBZ. Whether or not it was an ok move. Is this a good or bad call?
Very well said Basically Be safe than SORRY!!! I do have a question VSE has a engineered part for CCV's. What's your view on that? Oil tube, boost block and CCV reroute, to prevent engine run away.
I have a PPE xcelerator. The max tune is 225 horse power 🤣. I just keep it on the 40 horse tune for a little better fuel economy in my LB7.
I enjoyed this video. It was very real. It reaffirmed that I will never sell/trade my 06 dmax... I use efi live on it among other mods, and it's pretty mean, it makes u sad that they choke out the new stuff so much
I miss my 07...That would pull a a house off the foundation.. My new 18 is soo bogged down
I have a stealth module on my 18 L5P for a couple months now and have noticed it does regen more often . Do I need to take the module off ? I asked stealth about it and said there module should not affect regens .
stealth sucks either run stock or if your looking for inline banks is better but if your trying to go full emissions intact tune look at calibrated power aka duramax tuner
I have a 2004 LB7 4” dual exhaust I was told it has 90 over bosh injectors what would you recommend for a CP3 pump
Hey Josh love your channel and your content. What would you recommend for a CP3 pump for my LB7 Duramax
So a box tuner would be like an edge Cts3? Doesn’t he have that edge in his trucks? Plus I seen remapping of the ecu with a switch, how does that work?
I see deleted Ram Cummins from the South all the time on Facebook. I would think the firepit negative offset rims would be confiscated.
Is there a tune you recommend for a 03 lb7?
Is this a scam?
I have got box on my LML. Ive got a Stealth Programmer. But I didn't have to plug it into the obd2 I went under the hood and plugged it under there. Now it doesn't have stupid high numbers I think tune 3 is like 90 hp. I will say when I'm in the mountains I've got the truck does got into regen more than at sea level. Luckily I live at sea level. What's your guys thought?
So this is for a diesel trucks not gas what do you recommend for gas trucks to give them more power?
Edge products
I recommend selling it and getting a diesel. Once you go to diesel……you’ll never go back.
Regear to a lower gear set higher numerically. I once had a Ram with 3.55 gears and I regeared to 4.56. It was amazing and way more noticeable than any engine mods I could do.
It would be cool if you build a old Chevy like the square body’s if you do a Dmax swap
I actually plan on it for next year
@@TruckMaster sweet
Glad I bought a LBZ those newer computers and vehicles really are garbadge, wow.
What Is your opinion on using Lucas Oil Stabilizer on Diesel engines
Love you bro have a happy new year.
Yep always my man. Thanks for all the info. Iv always wanted a d max An since subscribing to your channel Iv bought one lol
I have my first 2002 Lb7 I try keep in shape
Hey Josh I bought the Edge pulsar after you did and come to find out I can’t pass emissions with on the pulsar installed on my L5P
What is your opinion on efi live tunes? I have a lb7 and when I’m in tune 5 for more than 10 minutes my trans will randomly go into limp mode. Is this a tune or a trans issue. It will never go into limp no matter how hard I drive it unless I’m in in tune 5.
It could be your trans or the TCM it’s hard to say without plugging it in unfortunately
Nice video! So I’m moving to Indiana and I wanna get an 06-07 LBZ. They do have emissions there. So what mods can I do and still pass emissions?? Anyone’s help would be greatly appreciated or if you live in Indiana and what you did to your trucks? Thanks
Crazy Larry 😂😂😂 I had a triple dog as well thing was awesome in my 6.0
Is ez lynk considered remapped?
