I remember going down a random alley in that market and getting a bag of some of the best loose leaf Jasmine tea I've ever had. It was like a drug deal with a grandma out of a random cart. So good.
I cant wait to go back to okinawa. I love all ur videos. I lived in okinawa for 4 years. Loved and loveddddd it. Better then Tokyo. The environment is different. Very loving ppl. SHOUT TO YOU GUYS. LOVE U. AND OKINAWA!! MUCH LOVE FROM THE PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭💋 いい食べる!多くの愛!✌
This is a very nice video! They are so tender. And I am from Okinawa, I felt nostalgic when I saw these Okinawan food. I can not speak English at all, but I will do my utmost to learn English. I want to be able to comment in correct English.
Okinawa food is unlike anywhere else...including Hawaii. I have lived in Okinawa for nearly 24 years and have made many, many trips to Hawaii. The food is similar between the two places, but not the same. Thanks for video.
A) You guys are adorable. B) You know something is really good when Shinichi mm's, pauses, mm's again then eye rolls, or when Shatoshi is short and to the point. C) I love how Mexican (I'm half) flavors/food has made it all the way to Japan, I believe that credit goes to Puroresu and when the Luchadors came from Mexico in the 60's to wrestle.
I was lucky enough to get stationed in Okinawa twice. It is most likely my favorite place on the planet. The food is wonderful, the people are awesome, the culture is great. I'm sorry that I'll never get to go back.
Can't find enough words to thank you for showing all those treats, and giving an sight on the people, everyone was soo nice and helpfull wow. I always have to smile while you test something and see how tasty it is, how happy you look. I did instant review it so I didn't miss something, there was just soo much to look at. Okinawa is one of my favourite destination I want to visit, but I'd like to visit everything in Japan...one day hopefully. Thank you so much, from my bottom of my heart, because it bring me some happy time.
Great video. Thanks for pointing out so many foods and places. I've gained a love for natto, taiyaki etc. There are a few I haven't liked, but your videos have helped my girlfriend and I discover foods we never knew existed. We leave Japan in two days with a better understanding of the food. She speaks Japanese, so it made it much easier. Thanks again for the videos.
I'm so glad you guys are putting out more Okinawa videos! I visited a few years ago and my last time was over 20 years ago when I was a kid. I told myself I should move there permanently but it's becoming harder and harder. I don't think there are any Okinawan UA-camrs so if you guys do move there you will be like the ambassadors on UA-cam. You guys should do it!!! And please more Okinawa videos!
I grew up in Okinawa and I miss it so much. I found your videos here on UA-cam and I just want to say that you both are amazing! Thank you for bringing me back to everything I used to cherish and love. I left my heart in Okinawa! :-)
This was so fun to watch!! I got full watching you eat so much!! I’d like to try everything you ate… so different than anything I’ve ever had! Thank you!
I know this is an older video. But I just come across this. My Wife and I was talking about coming to Japan to visit or live to retire. After seeing this video. I really want to see Okinawa. I have family in the Marines there. I wanted to go to Shinjuku, but I'm a big and tall disabled American and use a wheelchair or electric chair and I would be hard for me to get around small spaces. Seeing this video, I see there is a lot more space and would be easier for me to get around. I want to go to the street foods you went to. I love trying foods. And there I can see I could try many types. I'm watching all your videos, from the beginning to the end. Thanks!!!
Thank you for this video! We are going to Japan in two weeks and will spend Some time in Okinawa as well but I couldn’t find any street food videos of Naha. Your video came right on time!!
The mochi cooked in the leaf reminds me of Suman here in the Philippines. Depending on the location, we either use rice, ground rice, or cassava. Then we usually flavor it with coconut and muscovado sugar and then fold them in banana leaves. Finally, steam them until cooked.
OMG they all looked so yummy. I'm so jealous of you guys getting to try such mouth watering foods. I wish i was there with you😋. Thank you for a awesome video. Loved it that you shown some stalls as well as restaurants. All the food looked so good i want to try some too.
My mom lived in Okinawa in the 80s while my sister and I lived with our grandparents in the US and she tells tale of a fried dough ball filled with boiling squid ink that I was hoping you'd have. I've been sharing these videos with her to see if she remembers any of it.
When you love food and can't help but drool over all the street foods, but then BTS comes along and sings in the background. My experience just got 10000x better. It's around 8:43 to 9 something for anyone that's curious. Pretty sure the song is War of Hormone
Aloha guys! Love your videos! This one was very insightful and now it pushes me to visit Okinawa than Tokyo this coming year. Hopefully you come back home to Hawaii. Please do more videos of Okinawa
Better than kakiage? How is that even possible? OK, I need Okinawan tempura in my life. I really want to try sata andagi and no manju too. I'm so glad that you both can travel the world and show us the local cuisine. Have a great time in San Francisco!
Thank you guys for this wonderful video! My mouth was watering with every thing you guys tasted:-) But I got to agree with EatLazy that the tempura looked specially yummie!! Thank you for this wonderful video!
Okinawa is on my list. Really liked this video. Going to check out the okinawan Onigiri. Also I'd like to know can you find specifically okinawan food recipes on UA-cam. Thanks
That rice ball totally reminds me of Italian arancini! So good! I’ve never seen red dragonfruit. Here in the states, I’ve only ever seen the white. But I really like dragonfruit!
Wow, that Muchi is similar to a Filipino confection called "Tupig" or "Tinupig". It's made from sweetened sticky rice with coconut bits wrapped in banana leaves and cooked on a metal plate over a fire inside the ground. Doesn't have a fragrant scent though.
I always wanted to live in Hawaii, but Okinawa sounds really appealing, especially since it's much cheaper and since it's so easy to fly back to Tokyo!
This was so fun to watch! I would love to eat all of it if I could, but I'd especially like to try the tamagoyaki with all the lovely veggies, plus the leaf-wrapped steamed mochi at the end. It looks amazing! Thank you for sharing your food adventure with us! I'm really looking forward to seeing you soon....in person. :-)
Where do you put it all? You must run, walk, jog and do plenty of set ups to work off all those yummies. I love all the different foods I'm learning about.
I remember going down a random alley in that market and getting a bag of some of the best loose leaf Jasmine tea I've ever had. It was like a drug deal with a grandma out of a random cart. So good.
"Is it good?". "Interesting". Very diplomatic of you Satoshi.
Satoshi is always so gentle lol
I love how nice the people are that you two met.
沖縄県民です。コロナの影響で大打撃を受けた凄く厳しい沖縄ですが、お二人が来沖した頃のような賑わいをいつか取り戻して行けることを心から願いながら動画を観ています!

Mmm makes me want to go to Okinawa just to try all the different foods!
Maybe a lot of Okinawans immigrated to Hawaii and that's why some of the foods were familiar. Now I'm curious to look it up
Victoria D. Like 50000 if us
My American history isn’t too strong (I’m not American), but I think Okinawa has been very important to the U.S. military since WWII.
It was the Okinawian's that brought their foods to Hawaii. That's why it taste so familiar.
In 1846 when Japan took over Okinawa, a lot of Okinawans left to Hawaii to not be under Japan
Watching you both makes me happy and hungry. Thank you
This was so fun to watch!! I got full watching you eat so much!! I’d like to try everything you ate… so different than anything I’ve ever had! Thank you!

I’ve never seen red dragonfruit. Here in the states, I’ve only ever seen the white. But I really like dragonfruit!
How is it that you guys never gain any weight? So many yummy foods!
Wow, that Muchi is similar to a Filipino confection called "Tupig" or "Tinupig". It's made from sweetened sticky rice with coconut bits wrapped in banana leaves and cooked on a metal plate over a fire inside the ground. Doesn't have a fragrant scent though.
Wow. I lived in Okinawa before...and never realized it until you said it.
WONDERFUL FOOD 🥘 LOOKS YUMMY

I always wanted to live in Hawaii, but Okinawa sounds really appealing, especially since it's much cheaper and since it's so easy to fly back to Tokyo!
