What has helped me most with reducing facial puffiness: sleep; hydrate; exercise (but nothing too rigorous so my cortisol stays level); stopped drinking coffee; manage stress (ie: breathe).

Keltie you saved my life 😭 my jaw/facial tension has gotten horrible and I can’t afford the PT. I have started doing gusha morning and night on my jaw/neck. It’s only been three days and I feel SO MUCH BETTER. I seriously cannot thank you enough. Your videos always have the best timing. People have comfort tv shows but you’re my comfort YT channel lol

If it continues... Look up jaw massage, TMJ massage, TMJ physical therapy exercises on youtube, of course proceed with caution and pay attention to what works for you in the process if you aren't working with a pro. I hope you can get PT covered at some point but until then there are some things you can try to do on your own. For me learning how to massage with my hand in my mouth pinching my cheek/masseter and getting up in my gums was really helpful, I prefer having a PT do it though because it is VERY uncomfortable at first, if you find any videos with that just go slow and feel it out but it's ok if it doesn't feel great at first, as long as you feel looser after. I also recommend learning how to roll your upper trapezius with a lacrosse ball/myo ball if any of your tension comes from there, and for hot spots in the neck the theracane can help (but a little more pricey).
And yes, gua sha helps a lot!!! Hopefully that will be all you need for now perhaps! Just wanted to share that there are resources out there if you need to try things. Good luck

Gua sha stones were really trendy in the beauty space a few years ago. I recently had gua sha as part of an acupuncture session for TMJ and tension headaches, and that was kind of a discovery moment for me, too, with regard to muscle tension around the head, face, and neck. Thank you for trying this out, and for reporting back with more than just the aesthetic results.

The reason Gua Shua can actually lift and contour your face is due to sluggish lymphatic drainage, as you pointed out--jaw/muscle tension and boost of circulation--which over many months coupled with eating collagen and hyaluronic acid WILL actually improve your skin quality overall and aid in giving you a more youthful appearance. Neck and jaw tension can actually drag your cheeks down. You simply do not have a lot of facial fat so you didn't notice any difference. There was a slight difference in the marionette area, which is where the jaw-neck muscles being tense can drag your cheeks down. I however have chipmunk cheeks and literally feel my facial fat pads in a higher place vs a lower when i stop doing gua shua for a week. I also carry a lot of fluid in my face apart from tension. So it's not something that will overtly change everyone's face but for me I do get asked if I got a face lift because of how much tension I carry in my face.

I think the biggest thing is that if you tend to have a lot of puffiness, water retention, build up in your lymph nodes, then GuaSha can help, but if you are on the leaner side being well into your health journey then you may not see hardly any results. One thing I will say, my mom always massages her moisturizer into her face smoothing her skin kind of in the same way and she has way better skin in her later years than any of her friends who never bothered much with their skincare. Mind you my mom is a wash, tone, moisturize and done lady. She has some lines but how she treated her skin with massaging I feel went far compared to the other women in her family.

To be fair my mom looks younger than many of her peers, but my family has good youthful looking genes. With the power of good genes merely washing her face everyday looked good. My grandma looks younger than her age too and again just washing her face with a normal bar of soap worked because of good genes.

  • @IIISincerelyIII

The crazy part about it. is that this actually does work a ton. i've been using it for about a month and a couple of days now. it's made noticeable changes to my face. some of the changes are: making my under eyes depuffed, it's lifted my cheek area. my jawline is more defined in a feminine soft way. to the point a man had to tell me in the store "you are a very beautiful woman."
but i noticed it was after the fact i had been consistently using gua sha. i also use the full body gua sha on my shoulders and it's reduced fat on the back of my arms, neck and i also use it on my chest area to keep my chest perky. if you're consistent it works wonders because it's equivalent to exercising.

    • @gilligen6834
      @gilligen6834 Рік тому +15

This is not the equivalent to exercising. I will accept the fact that it is beneficial but rubbing this on your body is not causing you to lose fat unless you're burning a lot more calories doing this lol. It could be able to tighten the skin by relaxing the muscles but it is not "reducing fat" Other lifestyle changes or the extra movement could be the reason for that.

Those are changes for the better even if most folks didn’t catch it. It’s weird, cause typically ppl don’t pay that much attention when caught on the fly, such as, “Do you notice anything different about me”? …they’re minds go all kinda sideways looking for something huge & rarely ever towards where we’re wanting them to go, which might be more detailed. I’m an artist & a massage therapist by trade, so I looked at the details & I CAN indeed see them!

Minor differences as you say, may be lighting/angles. The eyebrow definitely looks lifted in the side show too, the effect being you look less sleepy/ more alert / open faced. The brow lift is my favourite part of Gua Sha. Amazing what else you learnt that you didn't expect. I truly think you would benefit from a split screen & keyboard set up (PC not laptop) where the screen is at head height and keyboard on a lower level. That way you could maintain good posture. I think the reason you didn't see much result is because you don't really have anything yet to reverse at your age. I just purchased a Gua sha 2 weeks ago and I really notice my eye bags look flatter, I am confident and don't feel like they are the first thing people notice when talking to me...I'm 59. I have been using it both a.m and p.m. when I have time and on my face and neck. Still use my Omnilux red light mask too...which also gives great results.🌺

As Chinese the guasha obsession was at its peak about 10 yrs ago. Atm I was OBSESSED with doing guasha on my calves (cuz I'm blessed with strong thick legs and impressionable me didn't know better). Did it feel good? Kind of. Did my calves become slimmer? Nope 🤣

Check yourself several times a day if you clench your teeth while your mouth is closed. If you do, unclench them, your jaw should hang loose even with your mouth closed. It helped me give my face muscles a bit of a break.

Oh man! That inside the mouth massage was what they did for me in Physio for TMJ (TMD). It was SO painful. But, I went from only being able to open my mouth about an inch, to several inches 👍🏻

so happy you are bringing gua sha to the people but for the love of Gott, hold the gua sha at a 45 degree angle againstyour face and don't push, rather pull !!!

I think a good alternate title for this video is “how many different ways will Keltie pronounce gua sha.” 😂 Seriously though I haven’t seen one of your videos pop up on my feed in MONTHS and last night I randomly thought of you and was like “I need to see if I’m still subscribed to Keltie!” I am, but I guess I just haven’t been getting the notifications? Anyway, I’m here now, and catching up. I’ve missed you. ☀️

I’ve never related so hard to the posture bit Keltie 😂 fellow girl that looks like a cooked shrimp in her chair by the end of the day. This may be a small investment I need to make to help neck tension. I loved this take on it ❤

This looks a lot like lymphatic drainage massage. I did this with my hands after watching some videos about it when I was seriously congested from a cold. Didn’t know I was also potentially contouring my face lol. 😅

  • @NancyMaraat

I think the reason you can’t detect any noticable improvement in your face is because you are too young to have developed aging conditions such as sagging jowls, marionette lines, and smile lines. You can’t correct problems that have not yet developed. I don’t think I noticed these changes develope until I was in my 60s. I have been using a combination of bare hand facial yoga methods for about 3 weeks now and I am beginning to notice a decrease in sagging jowls and a firming of the double chin. When you have aged enough to develop these conditions, try these methods again and you may be surprised to see that they do help.
