- Squall is a bit of a loner, having a quiet, calm, and cold demeanor. He somewhat has a strong will, protecting his friends and doing what's right. It is shown that he hates good-luck charms, but starts to take a liking to them through the course of his journey.

What i love about Squall is, even though he's anti social and a lone wolf, he doesn't walk away from responsibilities. He gets the job done one way or another.
I love final fantasy 8 but uh... Squall runs from his responsibilities all the time at the start of the game. He has to be ordered to do anything up until the middle of disc 2.
Jack Ream Nah he likes to complain, but still end up doing it anyway. Just like how he didn't like to become the commander of Balamb Garden, but still rise up to the challenge. Like i said, he does the job one way or another.
The point is that he still gets the job done. He disliked it because he hated all of the responsibility, but he still did the task he needed to. The reason it occurred mid-disc 2, was because that was when he became Commander -- thus _he_ gave the orders then.
Squall has a cold demeanor but that doesn't mean he is a good. He over-analyze his emotions to ground himself entirely. In fact, he internalizes himself so he won't react to decisions harshly. At first glance, this is a mark of a loner to people and they do not understand why he is so "emo". Squall is far from emo he keeps his emotions in check and does things for the better to achieve the goal. I like him as a character and he is realistic person in a fictional world.

No, he's the embodiment of an INTP personality. Emotions? Nah, too busy thinking. Emotions only come out over things that are either super important, or as negative expressions from having bottled up so long. Plus, he doesn't complain about his issues to other people, he deals with them himself.
To people who claim FF7 Cloud and FF8 Squall are emo, I say... name the line of dialogue. Having memories blasted apart by magic and knowing you face an impossible task but doing it anyways despite struggling within yourself... that isn't emo, it's legit to life.
Lol yes he grew up as a mercenary with seed saying mission above all else then add his back story itz like no shit he's like this

Oh I agree: there was a joke fight between Squall and Cloud waaaaay back at the end of the dial up days. The idea was Squall had absorb health and Cloud could use the clone item glitch. Squall does Aura and limit breaks for ten hours straight as Cloud keeps drinking Megaelixers: eventually Squall runs out of his 100 Aura's and cant auto use Renzokuken: Cloud counter with a Omnislash: and wins. Hence yes:
Although as far as Round to Round OP NONSENSE? FF8 and Aura, is the most ridiculous Spell of all time. Squall/Zell/Irvine all in Aura? Its over, the only thing is the Ultimecia Text at the end and being sure to not fall for her seemingly low health.
But if youve played it before...you know its coming. Hence: I agree: but where the AuralImit Break override enemy turns...FF8's game breaks...

I've actually noticed that Squall talks a lot in his monologue inside his head.. like a lot xD Really the difference between Cloud and Squall in their dialogue view is that Squall basically mocks everyone in his head while they're talking and finds everything to be blasphemous in their actions, just voicing the littlest as he can while Cloud also has a monologue after they talk and basically doubts himself and their words. Though it is true they both speak logically but how they portray it to others is a bit different :) Just wanted to put it out there

Well Squall is a 17 year old kid who was forced into leadership from an early age. He's scared, confused, and has abandonment issues. This isn't by any means his fault. He just lacks maturity despite trying to be mature, like most boys his age.
Cloud is a man in his twenties who for the majority of his game thought he was his dead friend. With that revelation and failing to save Aeirith, he was shocked so badly that he constantly doubts himself. He does however have an unshakable faith in his friends but also is terrified of losing them because in his mind, it would be his fault.

I know Ultimecia is the primary antagonist of Squall's respective game, but I sincerely doubt he considers her a lifetime nemesis. To him, she will have been another job as a SeeD mercenary. If any member of the game's cast would feel that way, it's him.
That's true but in the Dissidia world he doesn't remember being a SeeD or any of the people/events from his respective game (and if he does, then the memory itself is pretty hazy). All he knows is that Ultimecia is his personal enemy and that in order to obtain his crystal he has to defeat her. Same goes for pretty much everyone else as well.

Some of the characters have more memory than others, like WoL and Garland knows of each other and where they're from, Gilgamesh remembers Bartz much to his dismay, Firion remembers the Wild Rose and what it stands for, and Sephiroth knows that Cloud and Tifa are close, yet neither of them seem to remember their connection. If I'm not mistaken, Sephiroth stated that the more they fight, the more their memory returns.
It seems however that most of the characters have very little memory of their past, homeworld, or what they did, yet they do remember their enemies (and in some cases, friends)

Helps in that they're both voiced by Hideo Ishikawa in Japanese.
Don't know if I like the voice for Squall. He sounds so smarmy... That wasn't how I pictured it at all.
Soon we'll get to hear Rinoa's voice in Dissidia NT. I always imagined she'd sound like Yuna in X-2. Very interested to see how she sounds.

He may think his "friends" are annoying loosers, but he will protect to the death their ability to be so. That's the TRUE mark of a good friend. XP
He does eventually grow to care for his VIII friends though. But yeah, he gets called an "asshole" by a number of people, yet despite his thoughts and words, he's always there to help his friends when they're in danger.
Squall reminds me of Daria, both highly misunderstood but both highly intelligent individuals. 14:47 wait wait a minute, I finally caught emotions from Squall you see? 😳

The voice work for this... Ultimecia's voice was the only one that seemed to match her character for me.
Some people say that Squall's face(edit: for the ff8 remaster) looks like his dissidia model. Well I say the fur on his coat is dissidia inspired than the face. But that's just me.
Edit: took me *way* too long to realize that they meant his cgi/NT Face.....😅
Has hair almost looks black in some in-game cutscenes, He's skinner then how he was portrayed in original FF8 and he no longer looks like his FF8 rendered cutscenes(Supposed to resemble River Phoenix).

Same Character he just prefers the name Leon, Yuffie says his name in the first game after Sora either beats him or loses she calls him Squall but he tells her to call him Leon. This is because he wanted to distance himself from that name because he felt it was him at his weakest.

If you played the game, he is numb. His mom died during child birth, he was sent to an orphanage with a girl he saw as a big sister only to be "abandoned" by her. Never saw his dad.

Squall says it himself: "we may be apart, but we still fight together". Even his story is summarized as being "he initially fought alone because he did not consider his allies friends. Eventually, he ends up fighting alone to protect them".
Squall's big thing is being a "solitary lion". But his intention is still to protect those he cares about. That is _far_ from "selfish".

how was he a dick? He was a good guy, who knew what was needed. He pushed people away so he wouldn't be abandon, like his "big sis" did.
