What Square did to Firion is their honest impression. Firion was a near obscure (if not very underrated) Final Fantasy protagonist before Dissidia came. He is even not as popular as Mindu which is the supportive character. He is greatly underestimated by most of ff fanbase as the worst character with the worst ff game ever. Even he is in fact not the incarnation of Warrior of Light the following to the rest of Final Fantasy games rather just a normal mortal everyman with great sense of justice seemingly he can do anything by no class or level boundaries as ff2 provides complete freedom. But when they actually patient and care enough to see him, Firion is well a mortal with no ridiculously broken or OP powers but proven his worth to be Cosmos' warrior as he is balanced by his powers and his weaknesses. Unlike ff protagonist who are experienced Multiversal potentials. Your ff3 which many dissidia characters tell him "a child" is in fact experienced Multiversal threat and vanquished that threat by the party themselves; this incredibly dwarfed Firion's total power to be the weak and not the chosen one. The Emperor is a complete opposite of Firion which is extremely powerful even before he splitted into 2 entities.

I don't know but before Dissidia, if I talked about Firion who is my most favorite character, the fanbase would likely to bash him for being a weak and indecisive character. In addition, they added a further insult of Firion "He doesn't even have a personality. Minwu even surpassed Firion's popularity Shame on you." At that time when I'm being disappointed for joining a fanbase and not hearing what they say and play whatever Final Fantasy game I would like to play.

It’s pronounced Teetuhs? I always thought it was pronounced Tide-us. It sounds so weird how Firion says it.

Apparently the pronounciation comes from his Japanese name, Tida (Tee-da), which means Sun in Okinawian (while Yuna means moon)
