+Zain Iqbal Thanks Zain! Please share it with everyone haha! Judo def needs more awareness and analysis. You should check out thedifficultway.blogspot.com really good text/picture based breakdowns of judo
I've done Judo for many years, and this is the best explanation of how to use a real rear throw attempt (rather than just a small feint) to set up a forward throw that I've ever seen. Well done sir. The notion that you're attacking as uke tries to regain balance rather than waiting for him to push back into you is key.
trampley Thanks! Glad to hear you've enjoyed it so much. What other concepts do you (& everyone else here) think need better examination or explanation? Theres a lot of Japanese & French language judo content, but not nearly enough for the English speaking audience
Judo Mat Lab I think a good topic would be footwork for defense and gripping. There are quite a few breakdowns of how to use movement to set up throws, not so many about how to use movement to neutralize your opponent's attack and help attain the grips you want.
trampley I hear you on that one , there’s a few fighters in my club who really work and switch up grips on you , for me as soon as someone switches grips on me I do the exact same thing and switch my grips on him so he can’t settle and have his preferred grip for whatever throw he has planned in his head lol
This is intelectually stimulating. Really satisfying material. Wish I saw this as a youngie; could've learned a lot of stuff a lot earlier. But the best thing is, all the principles you guys broke down can be applied to many other sports or games, since this is fundamentally tactical knowledge. Great job!
Thank you so much! I really love this kind of feedback! I agree, sport is a beautiful application of the body and mind and the concepts overlap. Glad you enjoyed this :D
Thank you very much for posting this video. Very well explained and incredibly helpful to understand judo and body dynamics. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you for your kind words! I love comments like this. So much thought and effort went into all those elements you listed. Sourcing footage to find clips that had the right angles and replays was half the battle sometimes and really determined what stories I could tell
Great video I’m a yellow belt and I have my first tournament coming up in April so I’ve been working on setting up my throws , a lot of helpful tips I’m going to try out next class.
I'm a yellow belt, and in Randori I've been able to successfully pull backwards attacks many times to higher belts. I can't say the same for forward throws, I been able to execute a couple of O Goshis muscling out my opponent, but I'm yet to pull something like a Harai Goshi yet. This information is promising, I hope to have better opportunities for forwards throws now that I know this!
Hope this video has helped guide you to more forward throw success! Getting/keeping the off balance for forward throws can be a lot less intuitive, so I hope you've been able to leverage your good backwards throws into nice combos :)
Thanks! There'll be more videos in the future, but production is on hold for now. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed this one; it's a topic I really wanted to share and explore for people.
+Allen Monroe Thanks Allen! So everything's been on hold for a while. Haven't had the time to make/finish anything. There'll be more but y'all have to wait :/ Thanks for the kind words, they keep me motivated to work on this stuff even if its only bit by bit
2892flipper Thanks! Part 3 has been put on hold so that new topics can be worked on. It'll be resting on the back burner, hopefully getting new footage as the IJF circuit continues
As listed at the end, BJJ Scout was a huge influence in these videos. I reached out to him before starting this channel to get advice. Glad he's still doing his thing
Kalernor Thanks! Glad to hear you liked the video; this one really took a long time, so hearing from happy viewers like you definitely helps keep me motivated. I started judo during undergrad out of an interest in newaza & bjj, which was too expensive. Luckily the head sensei at my school was a former Olympian/international competitor from Korea, and I've been loving judo ever since. I myself am not an elite competitor, so my knowledge is largely inherited from my teachers who did have that pro judo experience
It's great that you are making these detailed analysis videos though. They are a great gateway for your senseis knowledge to the internet which had been relatively lacking in judo content. Just comes to show you how many different and varied roles there can be played to contribute to a community!
It is 2023 and this is still sooooooo amazing.
The best chanel that discuss about JUDO so far.

trampley anything to throw him off slightly and make him feel uncomfortable

Thank you for your kind words! I love comments like this. So much thought and effort went into all those elements you listed. Sourcing footage to find clips that had the right angles and replays was half the battle sometimes and really determined what stories I could tell
This is the most beautiful, well thought, instructed, guide full, piece of video editing I have seen in Judo. Great job.
Thanks Omar!
Another brilliant video! Thanks.

Real excellent explanation
Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching and commenting!
my trainer say always never attack someone stable, I understand now, all in the rebound !! thanks
its my pleasure! I'm happy to have helped :) Big attacks can be very risky without movement, feints, and/or small attacks to set them up

Here's a beautifully illustrated breakdown of Renraku Waza/Combination Techniques, specifically rear throws to forward throws.
JudoMateo Thanks! I'm a big fan of your old "Throwing Down" and pro judo videos
Judo Mat Lab Thanks brother, your channels awesome as well!!!
Top adorei o vídeo

That ouchi is great, is just sometimes we have some problems adapting from Gokyo to randori or competition---
Very Nice, i learned a lot and i'll try to improve this at randori :) Thx for the great job !
+357Official I love hearing this kind of stuff! I'm glad this video has helped you

+Allen Monroe Thanks Allen! So everything's been on hold for a while. Haven't had the time to make/finish anything. There'll be more but y'all have to wait :/ Thanks for the kind words, they keep me motivated to work on this stuff even if its only bit by bit

+bjjsalzberry13 thanks! got any other Blockhead recommendations?
Judo Mat Lab IMO anything from Music By Cavelight.
Can you please please please do more of these. They are great. P.S. I cant find part three?
2892flipper Thanks! Part 3 has been put on hold so that new topics can be worked on. It'll be resting on the back burner, hopefully getting new footage as the IJF circuit continues
You should make a video of Inoe's uchi Mata variations
super
The technique shown by Inoue at 5:12 onwards is a hane goshi, not an uchimata. Other than that, good job.
Who is that 0:59 with that O-uchi gari?
Darren, 0:59 is Haruna ASAMI (JPN) -48kg
White & Blue
3:12 hes doing drop seoi without dropping on the knees.
I can't help but notice how similar these videos are to BJJ Scout's.
As listed at the end, BJJ Scout was a huge influence in these videos. I reached out to him before starting this channel to get advice. Glad he's still doing his thing
great video as usual. Keep it up. Out of curiosity only though I ask where are you from and what is your experience in judo training or competition?
Kalernor Thanks! Glad to hear you liked the video; this one really took a long time, so hearing from happy viewers like you definitely helps keep me motivated.
