How so? In the OT, God commanded war crimes including taking of virgin girls, okayed slavery, and commanded that a victim of rape marry her rapist. Just because there's more time involved doesn't change that its the same god acting totally different. The father is claimed to be one with the son and never changing but its a totally different being from the OT to the NT.

@@greglaprade7507 You haven't answered why the difference in amount of time makes a difference if God is claimed to be forever the same. Whether even millions of years or just one hour, God should be the same as stated in Hebrews 13:18. In the OT, God is okay with many things that Christians believe that He is not okay with now. Can we agree on this?
To answer your questions though, it makes a difference if you're someone who believes that no matter what God does, it's good. If you are, there is literally nothing that God does that can be unjust to you. This includes creating a world and the conditions in the world that see billions of humans going to hell for eternity. I see the actions of your god through human eyes and the human concept of justice which you probably apply to everyone and everything except for your god. I believe that slavery is 100% immoral. Is there ever a time when it is okay to own another human being and have the authority to pass said human being on to your children as property? Do you genuinely agree that a rape victim should be forced to marry her rapist or that someone who picked up sticks on the Sabbath should be stoned to death? At one time God did, but apparently today He doesn't. God is the objective morality standard that Christians claim but God's standards clearly evolve and adapt to the society where He happens to be in. If God were real this, would not be so.
God is no just some ordinary man to me. He is a character created thousands of years ago by people just like the ones that created all the other gods that you don't believe in. Through force, government mandate, and now evangelicalism, He's become the top guy whether in Judaism, Christianity, or Islam.

At the very heart of this question lies a fundamental misunderstanding of what both the Old and New Testaments reveal about the nature of God. Another way of expressing this same basic thought is when people say, “The God of the Old Testament is a God of wrath while the God of the New Testament is a God of love.” The fact that the Bible is God’s progressive revelation of Himself to us through historical events and through His relationship with people throughout history might contribute to misconceptions about what God is like in the Old Testament as compared to the New Testament. However, when one reads both the Old and the New Testaments, it becomes evident that God is not different from one testament to another and that God’s wrath and His love are revealed in both testaments.
For example, throughout the Old Testament, God is declared to be a “compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,” (Exodus 34:6; Numbers 14:18; Deuteronomy 4:31; Nehemiah 9:17; Psalm 86:5, 15; 108:4; 145:8; Joel 2:13). Yet in the New Testament, God’s loving-kindness and mercy are manifested even more fully through the fact that “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Throughout the Old Testament, we also see God dealing with Israel the same way a loving father deals with a child. When they willfully sinned against Him and began to worship idols, God would chastise them. Yet, each time He would deliver them once they had repented of their idolatry. This is much the same way God deals with Christians in the New Testament. For example, Hebrews 12:6 tells us that “the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”
In a similar way, throughout the Old Testament we see God’s judgment and wrath poured out on sin. Likewise, in the New Testament we see that the wrath of God is still “being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness” (Romans 1:18). So, clearly, God is no different in the Old Testament than He is in the New Testament. God by His very nature is immutable (unchanging). While we might see one aspect of His nature revealed in certain passages of Scripture more than other aspects, God Himself does not change.

Adam - God repented more than any other individual in the KJV bible (35 times). What did God need to repent for if it has any connection to sin?
      Repent has two meanings
      1. Remorse, to be sorry
      2. Change of mind or turn around
It does not mean stop sinning - no-one can stop sinning.
      1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is NOT in us.
'Repent of sin' - is not found once in the bible. People have added 'of sin' to the end of the word ‘repent’ because they don’t understand the true meaning of the word repent and because they listen to what preachers tell them and believe it when they should be reading the bible to check if what the preacher is saying is found in scripture. Repent of Sin is not found once in the bible, it is in found in people’s heads and imaginations.
In the context of salvation - repent means to turn from unbelief to belief and to be remorseful/sorry that you are a sinner.
Repent of sins to be saved is works salvation and that is a damnable heresy.
Read this verse from Jonah very carefully. It tells us that God saw their "works" when they "turned from evil' - so when we "repent from sin" God deems it as works. Also note that God once again repented but if repent means to turn from sin why did God repent?
Jonah 3:10 - And God saw their Works, that they Turned from their Evil Way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Unfortunately, too many Christians lack discernment and are unable to rightly divide the Word of God. John the Baptist was preaching 'repent' prior to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and everything changed after this event. He was telling people to change their minds from Unbelief and dead works to Belief.
Jesus paid the full price for ALL the sins of the world with his blood when he died on the cross and rose again. In return (for salvation) he only asks us to place 100% of our trust (faith) in him as his grace will save us (he did all of the work).
Anyone preaching a repent of your sins salvation is saying that Jesus' blood atonement wasn't good enough for them and they are re-crucifying Jesus. Don't be deceived by backdoor works salvation such as repent of sin to be saved.
Our works cannot save, only Jesus can. The Book of John was specifically written so that people may believe and be saved. The word 'believe' is mentioned 86 times and the word 'repent' is mentioned 0 (zero) times - use discernment please people and rightly divide the Word.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Acts 16:30-31 - And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
1 John 5:13 - These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
      -----------------------
Romans 3:20 - Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Romans 4:2 - For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
Eph 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
John 10:28-29 - And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of REPENTANCE, saying unto the people, that they should BELIEVE on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
You will never find the words “repent of sin” in the KJB. The devil has added “of sin” to the word repent so that he can take souls to hell.

God is loving in the OT:
    Nehemiah 9:17
"You are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and did not forsake them."
    Jonah 3:8-10
“Let everyone turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. Who knows? God may turn and relent and turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish. When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it."
    Isaiah 43:1-3
"But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”
    Isaiah 54:10
“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you."
God is also judgemental in the NT:
His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire." (Matt. 3:12)
" But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother without cause will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,[An Aramaic term of contempt] ' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell." (Matt. 5:22)
" If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell." (Matt. 5:29-30)
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it." (Matt. 7:13)

Simple you are a human being with faults and you have both good days and bad days same like me but the difference is in our beliefs. I believe in God the Father almighty and you don't either its the biggest decision you've made or the smallest depending on how your seeing life unfold in the world. If God can bring peace and multiply the hearts of men and women to do good by following his law and grace then why shouldn't someone like yourself be welcomed into this family which God has created for you and me. Sometimes it is better not knowing that a God exists because you have a sense of direction of what's true and what's not. If God is the truth then those that come and disagree are already our brothers and sisters who are either jealous, haters, egotistical, envious, wealthy people who only want acceptance from God who takes away sin. So in a way even if your a believer you have no choice but to surrender yourself to the truth Jesus Christ for all the sins you've committed because God has read your heart that you weren't really a believer just a lost condemned soul looking for a way out. I believe God is everlasting in knowing that the blood of Christ has opened a door to freedom to God and our souls are free to enter into Paradise if only we have faith in Christ. Our hearts and minds are like snakes that push us away from an All Loving God because he loves us to the point that we cannot understand it. Which God in any culture has sent his own son to be crucified for sinful people? Not one pagan god has done it and no other god can but God the Father who is the Father of Jesus Christ, a merciful Father who takes away sin not because we deserved it or are perfect but because his Son Jesus Christ has declared you and me and everyone else as his Friends and disciples when he took away our sins on the cross.
St.Peter-"He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds you have been healed." This is my favorite saying from the Apostle Saint Peter the new pope of this world. God has chosen his people and he will continue to do so even the unbelievers because he loves you that much.

He is actually wrong. Our Father YHWH (Yahuah) is harsher in the Renewed Covenant(NT) than in the 1st Covenant(OT).
The reason is, we are able to have our Messiah live in us, which enables us to live without sin. That is why Yahusha our Messiah said the following:
Mat 5:21 “You heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder,’ and whoever murders shall be liable to judgment.
Mat 5:22 “But I say to you that whoever is wroth with his brother without a cause shall be liable to judgment.
If you are angry towards your brother without reason is as good as killing someone.
Quite a difference, look at the next one:
Mat 5:27 “You heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
Mat 5:28 “But I say to you that everyone looking at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
A man looking at a woman with lust, is a adulterer. This is called the Higher Torah.
This is the sad thing about Christianity, they make their "God" to fit their will. They use the OT when it suits them, but mostly about grace and you can not outsin the grace of JC.
This is false teaching and a bad place to be in. Yahuah is not mocked, and those living in sin can not receive the Spirit of Yahuah.
Only through obedience can we receive His Spirit:
Act 5:32 “And we are His witnesses to these matters, and so also is the Set-apart Spirit whom Elohim has given to those who obey Him.”
We must love Him and obey His Word(commandments), then Yahuah and Yahusha will make their stay with us( by the way there is no 3rd person/ trinity either):
Joh 14:23 יהושע answered him, “If anyone loves Me, he shall guard My Word. And My Father shall love him, and We shall come to him and make Our stay with him.

Obiwan Duglobi apart from the fact that Frank has made a good point about time frames, it’s also to do with just how much detail do you want to record and put into a document/book, whatever you want to call it, there is no doubt plenty of things that didn’t make it into the bible, for 1 simple reason, just how big of a book do you want to have to read and study, as there’s an untold number of people who can’t read, but thankfully today that’s now sorted for a lot of people, as you can get the bible in audio format, and then there’s people like myself who can read, but my attention span for reading is terrible, but visual and audio I have no problem with, but then you’ve still got the same issue, quantity, so it’s not about why didn’t God do more good things, but that also implies He did bad things......., and that leads to the other problem that people have, they only want the ‘lovey dovey’ graceful God, sorry, but ya can’t have it all 1 way, human parents are the same, they give their children love and forgiveness, but any good parent will at times have to discipline their children, why should God be any different......

Understand this: God made a promise to Abraham that through him God would reconcile the world back to Him. He kept His word. He later made a covenant with Israel: if they obey God, He would bless them or if they disobeyed He would curse them & the great God kept His word.

God is a Holy God. God is a righteous God. God cannot tolerate sin. In the Old Testament times God was dealing with Israel and their nations in a physical manner, with man responsible for his own actions before God. Israel were God's chosen people. The nations were their enemies and they were out to wipe Israel from the face of the earth. When Israel were obedient to God's laws they were blessed and protected from their enemies. When they were attacked they killed their enemies to rid themselves of their threat. Each of the nations had characteristics which were types of the spiritual attacks which Christians of this age have to contend with and to 'put to death' in their bodies. The Amorites were a sexually perverted nation who would attack the weaker parts of Israel as they journeyed. The Canaanites, Hettites, etc. all had their 'badness' which a righteous and holy God wanted His earthly people delivered from. Hence their was so much bloodshed and apparent lack of tolerance towards the enemies.
You may say 'I thought God was a God of Love'. Correct, but God had not been revealed to man at that time as a God of Love. Man was under Law and Israel had said 'whatsoever God says we will do'. The Law was good but mankind could not achieve the Law and were subject to it's penalty which is condemnation when broken. The wages of sin is death.
God revealed His love when He sent His only begotten Son into the world in human form to redeem fallen mankind by dying and shedding His precious blood and suffering on the cross where He who knew no sin was made sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. (John ch. 3 v 16; 2 Corinthians ch. 5 v 21). The Jewish religious leaders and the Romans rejected and crucified Jesus Christ, not knowing that their actions were according to the predetermined counsels and purposes of God. It was God's plan of redemption that His Son should die and be resurrected to suffer the wrath of God which was due to man for his sins. God in Love and Grace now offers salvation and the forgiveness of sins to whosoever will believe that Christ died for them personally.
In the Old Testament God was revealed to men as a totally Holy God who could not tolerate sin. In the New Testament, Jesus Christ, God manifest in human form, has revealed God as a God of Love and mercy who when we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We can be saved by Grace which is God's totally unmerited favour bestowed on the sinner who believes.

had they adopted the theology of Marcion.
The Marcionites were a 2nd century Christian sect who were followers of Paul but believed the God of Jesus was a different God, not the same vengeful God of the OT.

@@theespionageact5249 It is obvious you did not understand my comment. In OT times God was dealing with Israel as a nation. It was purely physical in that context. In the New Testament God deals with individuals. God has been manifest to us as a God of Love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The situation and conditions of God's approach to mankind are completely different. It is now Grace as opposed to responsible man under Law. The Christian principle is 'love your enemies'. Do good to those who spitefully use or abuse you. We have a salvation through Jesus Christ which we do not deserve as we are all sinners in the sight of a Holy God. There is no difference between me and you. We both deserve to be cast into Hell. But God in love offers you, like me, the forgiveness of sins and eternal Life in Christ Jesus. Christ has purchased our salvation through His death, burial and resurrection when He put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
God has dealt with mankind according the the light or understanding that he had of God. Jesus Christ is the light of the world. He has made manifest His Father as a God of Love reaching out in Grace to you and me.

In the old testament God is pretty ruthless and savage with primitive impulses, in the new Testament he isn't as bad compared to the old (and isn't even there). It seems pretty obvious to me that there were 2 different gods working in the old testament. Jesus himself completely say's the exact opposite of what was supposed to be him and or the father GOD. Example : Numbers 31:18 But all the women children , that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. The argument is the reason god wanted these people killed is because they were corrupted by the fallen angles and we see this as true when it is stated that Noah was pure in all his generations ie genetics. So why would the true God the Father tell his genetically pure Hebrew children to keep genetically corrupt virgins for themselves if his whole intentions were to clean up the fallen angels children? He wouldn't but satan mascaraing as God would and this is why the New testament say's to study the word and equally dived the word ( Good from the bad ) remember satan said he would be like God and would raise his throne to the north. In the old testament there are so many examples of the people being terrified to not worship or they would be killed and many were killed, but Jesus came along and never once did he demand worship he simply gave us a choice. The lake of fire is very real and there will be many that go there but it will be by their own choice not Jesus getting mad and throwing them in it because they didn't eat the right foods or wear the right clothes, and in closing this remember what the true Father God aka Jesus said : I am the same yesterday today and forever I change not!
