"It's sheer not shire, I know, I'm from the UK"
Goes on to say Zeebra.
You have made a powerful enemy today, my friend ò_ó
some people in the uk think they know everything about the uk without moving outside thier own head, having worked for a delivery company in the uk in a 60mile radius area i have had 6+ ways of pronouncing the word shire, and never once heard it said "sheer" but with people from worcestershire calling it woostershire it doesnt surprise me how some people in the country says it, and with general interraction with people in general on the internet that some critic thinks they know better than the majority of the country
Every use of the word "Whimsy-sheer" is like a dagger through my Lancastrian heart.
Idc what psy says. If it's "Sheer" then it would've been spelt whimsyshear or whimsysheer... Shire is shire. Tolkien would have something to say about it too I think. Especially since he was also English.... I'm with ya man! It hurts my ears to hear them full on ignore English....
@@carlclausen4517
I mean, I was born in Lancashire and spent the last 12 years living in Yorkshire.
The only people I ever heard pronounce it "shear" were people not from a 'shire.
@Andrew-pr9xv I grew up in Hertfordshire and we definitely say shear, not shya which is how I imagine you would say it, it depends on where you live, I now live in devon and they pronounce it devon-shire!
@@arkwrightdubstep
For the purposes of my argument, I'm going to pretend I didn't see that... 👀
@@arkwrightdubstep that's actually really cool!!! If psy wasn't so passive aggressive with it I probably wouldn't have even made the comment but they kinda wanted this conversation! I really don't think about it when someone is talking I just thought he wanted the debate! 😆😆😆
"Secret Leves"
🤣🤣🤣
👍
I found both the Minecraft area in Borderlands 2 and the Mario level in Dying Light completely by accident, through natural exploration. Dying Light also had a Plants vs Zombies level that would've fit this list perfectly. Sidenote, Symphony of the Night's entry, while cool, isn't technically a secret level. It's the canonical second half of the game.
"Minecraft-themed skins" he says, while a picture of one of the two unique and super overpowered weapons you can get from the Minecraft area shows on-screen. That's the better reward, my dudes.
I can’t think I’ve heard too many Brits, myself included, who pronounce ‘…shire’ as a fully-pronounced dual-syllabic ‘shear’ so much as a ‘shuh’ or ‘sh’ya’. I guess it depends where you’re from across these isles.
But if you’re a hobbit or a big ‘oss, ‘Shire’ with a capital S is still ‘Shire’ rhyming with fire, cryer, tyre (that’s how it’s spelt here my global friends!). As such, if you put a hyphen in, pronouncing it as it’s spelt seems like fair game. Maybe
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle was one of a few games I completed. I adamantly got all 180 medals with the help of a guide that when I did Green Hill Zone, my response was "that's it?" Am I only one who felt that way? Lol
Mile High Club on veteran difficulty was brutal
yeah but the achievement/trophy you earn for it is very satisfying
Sonic adventure 2 remains my favorite sonic game and I still feel bad about never unlocking green hill zone.
There were just too many roadblocks, especially the kart racing mini games
what got me was having to basically play every stage to perfection
Not sure how half of Symphony of the Night, with the true ending, could be considered a "secret level"... but, whatever. have a like.
Back in the day (as in the 90s) before online guides were ubiquitous, a lot of players didn't know this ending existing. Myself included.
I get that. I'm an 80s/90s kid. Got the standard "kill Richter" end, and didn't feel it was enough. Not sure how I found out about Shaft and the upside down castle. Probably word of mouth, or a game magazine.
@@figure_0491 The days when hidden secrets were hidden secrets. And cheat codes were coveted secrets.
For some of us, we forget how old SotN actually is now. I think it's easy to forget that nowadays, complex level design, environmental storytelling and replaying games to unlock additional/true endings are the norm, and these games are designed with the understanding and expectation of being explored and discussed in online threads or Let's-Play videos. But back then, gamers didn't have trophy/achievement lists that hinted at or directed them to unlock levels through repeat play-through's, no Reddit threads or UA-cam, etc. If a game could be played through to the credits, but still have additional endings to unlock or discover, they were considered "secret". It's also fair to say that Symphony of The Night, (along with Metroid), established that trend that is common today, while most games were straightforward. (Hence.. Metroidvania)
I found the Minecraft Level by sheer accident lol It was awesome
Found the Borderlands one by accident.
idk if someone else felt that way, but I never thought of Ariandel as a "optional" or "bonus" level... I know, it is not mandatory for the story, but it is mandatory for the trophies, so I always thought of it as mandatory...
Borderlands the pre sequel? also had 1-1 inside of it too. You even got loot from the question blocks.
where was that reference at?
@@mattalan6618 Tycho’s Ribs. You can take the one non force fielded elevator to it. Make sure to find the secret room within that room too. 👍🏻
@@BlueGriffin20 so there is a 2 for 1 there?
@@mattalan6618 Kinda. It's 1-1, plus it has 2-1 secret area. It's all in the same area though.
@@BlueGriffin20 thats a big call back to Super Mario
The Resourceful Rat's Lair in Enter the Gungeon.
During the game, any items you leave on the ground will eventually be stolen by the Resourceful Rat, leaving behind a letter to taunt you. To get into the lair, you need to buy the key in the second level for a very high cost. Then find the entrance in level 3. There you need to find its way through the labyrinth, which is only possible if you find the clues you need to collect over several playthroughs. Then you need to fight the probably hardest boss in the game, even harder than secret final boss, the Lich, with 2 regular phases and a third phase that is basically Punch Out.
It is incredibly hard, but the rewards are worth it.
they had leftover space on the cartridge for Star Fox so they added that secret level late in development that's why there's no way out of there. they had to use up all the space on the cartridge because it was considered a waste if they didn't. at least that's what i remember hearing about it anyway.
As a proud platinum owner of the Remastered modern warfare I'm glad to see mile high club on this list, I also own the original trilogy and have 2 and 3 Platinums. MHC on Veteran is a very good challenge. I'm also a proud owner of the dark souls Remastered platinum and seeing the painted world of ariamis and Crossbreed Priscilla was nice, I really liked her character.
Proud owner lmfao good for you
Great list, Psy! Thank you for the trip down memory lane (and for triggering me to want to replay a lot of these classics again! Lol)
Edit- I wish Dying Light 2 turned out to be as good as DL1/The Following.. i was blown away and surprised by Techland in 2015, but let down with the sequel in 2022
Streets of Rage 3 had a ton of Secret Levels
One I never see mentioned but really grabbed me was the hidden backrooms dungeon in Remnant 2. I'm not a super fan of backrooms related things, but the fact it came out of nowhere after a puzzle that can only be solved by data mining the game really stuck with me
"It's whimsy-sheer, I'd know" considering the dialogue in game, which is voice acted, calls it Whimsy-SHIRE, I don't think you played it enough to know
As an American, I have to know how you pronounce "Sheer"
As someone who spent thirty-one of my thirty-eight years in Lancashire (where I was born) and neighbouring Yorkshire (the Wish version of Lancashire) I can wholeheartedly assure you that the only people I've ever heard pronounce Shire as Sheer are people who've never been to a Shire county.
It's not sheer it's shire
Except I was actually talking about the word sheer. Which seems unecessarily complex. It's not like we're talking about There, Their and They're.
English is a pain in the ass
@@ElDaktor
* Teal'C face *
Indeed.
@@Andrew-pr9xv +1 Internets for Teal'C reference
I thought they were going to showcase the south park game with the needle lmao
You way want to check the spelling on that their title screen.
I remember finding the Minecraft section in Borderlands 2. I was just exploring trying to find every location in the game. I was surprised when I stumbled upon that.
Regarding Mario taking on hordes of the undead... See the Dry Bones enemy introduced in SMB 3
10. never found it.
9. quite action packed.
4. yeah, it was very odd.
2. same as #10.
I always loved playing Mile High on COD
Surprised that you all went with that Call of Duty ending and not World at Wars introduction to the Zombies game mode after completing the campaign. Especially with how much more popular that bonus content was compared to the Spec Ops game mode.
Huge stretch to call half of Castlevania SOTN a "secret level", it's definitely not a secret level. Good list apart from that though. Also I'd add the Spamton fight in Deltarune chapter 2 as well, since Jevil was included.
Pelo amor de deus a primeira vez que eu descobri o castelo invertido eu tava jogando com meu primo, lá por 2004/2005, fiquei sem dormir uns 2 dias
Was that Bonkers from Kirby in the Castlevania ending? I swear at 10:28 it looks like a more realistic version of that guy.
Top 10 secret leves 😂😂😂😂
Sonic Frontiers has a bunch of great old school levels in it, that don't require beating the whole of Sonic Adventure.
I hate to tell ya WhatCulture but uh, you play Mile High Club if you skip the credits or not lol it’s a mission, they can’t just let you skip it 😂
Pronouncing shire sheer seems personal to him.
I had no idea Mile High Club was a secret level
also living in the uk, its dependent on where in the country you come from, i can tell you saying it sheer isnt that common in my area, its shire as in hobbits home, with th fact that the uk can swap accents and pronunciation every 10 miles or so, saying "we say it this way and only this way" completely misses out locations that pronounce it shire shore shoire sure and other varient locational pronunciations
i got to Whimsyshire during my second playthrough a totally different way. i didn't talk to no ghost cow at all. it was just random. i walked into the next area of the level and i wound up in Whimsyshire. that was one of the most random WTF moments in gaming i ever had
There's a second version added later that is accessible through a random rainbow goblin spawn, which leaves a portal to "whimsydale" upon death. Not the same, but uses the same level aesthetic. The aesthetic can also be used as one of the random layouts for the rifts offered to the player.
@@thesemipro822 Even later they added the rifts that sent you to a random map every floor and sometimes used the Whimsy maps.
@@raziel710 I said that in the second half of my comment lol
@@thesemipro822 Strangely UA-cam seemed to cut off your comment the first time I read it so I thought it ended at "portal to whimsydale on death." Now I can see the full comment though.
So happy to see starfox in a video. To me that is the best game ever
There's also a Plants Vs Zombies level in Dying Light. 👍
Ugh beating mile high club on veteran was awful
what about in Gauntlet Legends/Legacy the treasure rooms?
Sonic Frontiers
FPSonic CONFIRMED 😂
Also the Plants vs Zombies level in Dying Light!!!
Anyone that manged do number 5 . Deserves big high 5 . Getting all A ranks wasn't easy task
I can vouch for that i believe I was only missing about 5 . Its one game certainly love go back try get all them . Even tho really enjoy chou races and karate . By time got close max out stats lvl 99 chou close to death and start all over again the pain lol 😆
Borderlands PreSequel did the secret Mario level better (and first too)
Symphony of the night is not a sequel...its a spinoff.
4:15 you leave it looking like its fairyland from the comic I hate fairyland lol
You mean World 1-1 from Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.
wait a sec, I love that you say shire properly but then you go and say Zeebra in the UK and pretty much everywhere thats not the US its Zehbra, i therefor tut at you ....tut tut
Wait.... did I miss the Wolfenstein levels from DOOM2?
Hello
💃 *Lara* in *Vegas* is *tight* 🌃
I have my issue with Jevil being a secret level, he is a secret boss, not a level.
Came here to see Emerald Hill zone in Vr because of the thumbnail. Was severely disappointed…
"I'm from the UK..." You've already lost
😂😂😂😂
The J in mojang is pronounced.
Normally I'd agree but the Diablo 3 was developed in Yankeeland so your pronunciation of "shire" is debatable
We pronounce it loss vegas. It's pronounce that way.
There's a secret level in minecraft: dungeons.
First
I still can't get over how he sounds like little girl, old man and teenager on drugs all at the same time.
This channel is in the mud
Well you have shown that just because you are English does not mean you can speak it.
Says the bully that doesn't know what a comma is.
Psy….you read a script looking a a camera. You don’t know all about games, you said shire wrong. Deal with it bro also it’s Mojang not moyang *sigh*
Found the diablo and borderlands maps by accident 😂😂
