Seaman really hit the nail on the head. Most will rather have their food delivered or shop online today. It's to the point where "having to shopping" has become "wanting to shopping"
I love how in Metal Gear Rising after slicing a boss up into a thousand pieces they still call you on the codec and deliver a lengthy monologue before they actually die.
The ability for Abe to fart in the Oddworld series will always hold a special place to me. To this day, I've never seen a "fart" button added with such actual utility and grace!
I never owned that game as a kid (eventually played the remake a few years ago), but I had a demo of the PS1 version back in the day and remember spending so much time in the controls menu just making him go through all his moves.
AND YOU COULD POSESS THE FART!! Abes odyssey and exodus will always rank high on my list of all time favourites. oiiioiiiioiiiiioiiiioiiiioiiiioiiiiioiiii
Fable always had a fart emote in it as well. You do it to make yourself more popular in game or just to laugh when you fart right in front of Jack of Blades during an intense battle.
Im surprised the soul switch mechanic from Driver wasn't mentioned. It was completely unique mechanic that was never used anywhere else, as far as I know.
I genuinely cannot stand Prey, for multiple reasons. It legitimately *feels* like a straight-up rip-off of Bioshock. The story felt really weak. The scaling of enemies is just… strange. I won’t lie and say it doesn’t have *any* good points. I do think the Morph power is really cool and a fun gameplay mechanic that I would adore seeing in other games. The level design is honestly pretty amazing. But I bought the game’s Ultimate Edition not long after it became available and have put *real effort* into trying to like it. I just can’t. It’s not a bad game by any stretch of the word, but (to me at least) it’s a far cry from a good game.
Another fun game mechanic is in Force Unleashed. The fact that Storm Troopers will grab onto each other to try to get out of a force grip. You can make giant chains of Stormtroopers all holding onto each other.
@@ThatGuy21872 just force hold them (like you're gonna choke or throw them or thro your lightsaber at them) and move them by another trooper I suppose, I've never done it but sounds like that is how it would go.
I am so glad that Grafitti Kingdom made the list! I immediately thought about that game when seeing this list. One of my favorite games as a kid and it never left my mind.
I couldn’t beat Fracture. I got stuck on a level because I couldn’t figure out what the hell to do. Was like mid-way or near the end of the game. Could have been bugged or something. Shame, because I didn’t hate the gameplay.

Was recently playing Prey (even watching old gameranx vids on it!) and it really saddens me to see how excellent this game was and then see Redfalls current state. Arkane needs to return to the immersive sim genre
I think they well bc the three Dishonored games and Prey are all very good. They know how to create a fun game with good level design and world building.
I have been searching for years for Magic Pengel. I played it when i was younger and completely forgot the name. I remember it being really fun, and well made.
I've used the mimic ability in prey to turn into a pair of scissor slide through the opening of the security windoy ( the tray area is really small) to get into otherwise locked/blocked rooms also to hide from nightmare
Not sure if it gets to the point of ridiculous, but the mechanic used in Viewfinder (a puzzle game that's definitely worth checking out) is something that still boggles my mind a little. You basically have photographs (that you find, or later take) that you can "make" real in order to create paths to get to a goal....like you align the image in real time on screen and then it's just....there. The fact that the game instantly makes the flat image fully 3d is something my brain just doesn't want to deal with. There isn't some transition or twinkly magic or anything to tell you. The image still looks exactly the same right until you move, as soon as you move in any direction and realize it's actually incorporated entirely into the world is pretty spectacular.
I’ve had Vagrants spawn in my game every time I’m dragging my friends through them and it makes me sound nuts, more than I do already talking about souls games to people who haven’t played a souls game
Sea man spitting facts. Also, a highly underrated game that made my jaw drop was Scribblenauts Unmasked, you can type any DC character or random item and BAM it's right there!

A great mechanic for a follow-up to this would be Olivia's wheelchair in Fear & Hunger 2: Termina. In a game where you're stuck in a war-torn town full of murderous crazy people and pitted against them at the behest of the moon god, the last character you'd want to pick would probably be the wheelchair-bound herbalist, but she ends up having a lot of her own strengths with the wheelchair.. Its not without downsides though. You can't use stairs so you have to get off your wheelchair and slowly crawl up them, which is even worse if you're running from an enemy. Your movement speed gets greatly reduced if you lose an arm, and you're completely immobilized if you lose both. She also can't use heavy two-handed weapons, like the ones Abella can craft. Despite that, she's also able to weaponize her wheelchair by tumbling downstairs with it and stunning enemies she runs into, which had me laughing way more than I ever thought I would at a game like Fear & Hunger. She also loses nothing if any of her legs get wounded; everyone else can't sprint if they lose one and have to crawl everywhere if they lose both. There's other positives she has, like a good starting trinket and being able to harvest and use herbs, but the wheelchair alone makes her a much more interesting to play character than you'd expect.
Wow, this is literally the first time I've heard of the Vagrant, but I HAVE SEEN AND KILLED THAT THING! I just thought it was a special type of bug that might drop something cool. I remember some circles appearing after it died briefly. Never gave it much thought, lol.
Fun bonus about metal gear rising if you equip a special energy hair item you can stack the slow time between both energy abilities increasing the slow you have for the duration letting you get a ton of hits in that usually are impossible to get at regular slow speed.
