This is the most comprehensive tutorial on upholstering a chair i came across on youtube so far, thank you much!!!! I have 4 chairs to redo and i will follow your steps if i can find all the materials. Thank you for sharing!!!!
what make is your staple gun? It sure would have made my job easier! And do you have a double cord presser foot on that sewing machine?
Have watched a few and you my friend are certainly one of the best I have seen !!
Can you put a video about different materials you are using including glues , staples , fillers, springs and nails. thank you
I love this project. I have 2 chairs to do like these! Thank you! 😍
That's great! I hope my video was helpful for you. Good luck!
beautiful well done!
You do very good work. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. May I ask, do you use the same sized staples for the entire project?
WoW! Excellent workmanship. I've always wanted to learn. Now that I've been locked up at home because of this virus, I'm going to .
It looks so easy but I know if I try this my chairs will look like a DIY project gone wrong. 😁😁😁. Best I leave the upholstery of chairs to the professionals.
Thank you so much for this excellent video - it's the best I've seen and also explains the process in great detail. We have four chairs to reupholster and really appreciate being shown how to do this properly! Thank you for sharing 🙂
What kind of stapler r u using brand name and where I can order it ? Love your show!!
Hajji, all the supplies used in this video are listed above.
How much over the sides must the 6” foam be cut to fit a chair.?
How much fabric do I need for a dining chair like that?
Could you please give a list of tools you use. Get the companies to sponsor you so you can mention the brand's you use. Thank you for the remarkable videos. Brilliant.
How much is the bill for a chair like that? You work fast. Thanks for the in depth job.
Repent from ALL SIN and accept Jesus Christ while He can be found! Jesus is coming soon. Don't wait until it's too late. Get right or get LEFT!
Absolutely wonderful video. Amazing work. You are an awesome craftsman! I am referring back to you for the DIYs I have going.
Do you use a special hot glue to glue the welting or just standard glue like what you get at a craft or hardware store?
Very nice! Great directions. I have 2 chairs I will be using this on. Thank you!
Loved the video, hated the constant ads.
Thank you for explaining why you do the steps you do, so much better to have you talk to us 😁👍👍👍
Love your videos. I have some Drexel box welted cushioned slip seats the same design as these chairs. Could they be reupholstered the same way as these chairs? They seem to be missing the extra wood flange that you staple into to - I wonder if the edge of the ply slip seat base cold be used for stapling and then the whole cushion screwed onto the chair ? I much prefer this style of cushion. Thanks :)
Outstanding performance beautiful amazing fantastic amazing artist you are well done thanks for sharing your beautiful work
hi! why don't you fix the bigger foam with staples? thanks!
Darren: I have been watching since you started your channel. I think it is wonderful that you are up to 242K subscribers. Your videos are informative and educational.
Thank you so much for subscribing to me from the beginning!! I'm glad you enjoy my videos and I hope to upload much more.
Wow!! You are really good, thank you very much. It
I’m surprised you didn’t use something to make back more durable
What model is that stapler, please. This is a great video. I’m trying to learn upholstering and I need to get a good stapler.
This is an awesome video. May I know what kind of gun you used?
Thanks for the tutorial. May i know if repeated stapling would weaken the wood?
Is he even stapling to the wood? When he cuts it off it doesn't look like he stapled to wood. Looks like he stapled above
Is the smaller cushion always necessary? or just to plump them up?
He sure knows what his doing, at the very beginning.. you could tell. Awesome work.
Please name the brand and pattern # of the fabric .
An amazing video, you make it look so easy.
have you done any reupholstering of a dining room chair where the back has an arch window like you would see in a Catholic Church the foam is flat on the back but it's thick in the front so when you sit in your chair you're actually sitting up so how do you do that part over without messing up the design of the chair? I've done the cushions of my mother's dining room chairs and covered it in plastic not realizing that one plastic was thicker then another piece it was kind of hard but I did it but what is the best way to put plastic over the materials on your chairs ,what is the easiest way to do that? What size staples and staple gun should I use to give the chairs a professional finish? The only staple gun that I had was your standard household staple gun, so for an amateur I think I did okay ,now I want to do my own dining room chairs. Which material is easiest to work with a vinyl ,leather or cloth? How much yardish is needed for reupholstering your standard diningroom chair?
I have done many dining chairs and don't always get the chance to make videos. I'm sure I may have come across a chair that you're talking about hard to say without seeing it. A standard size upholstery gun and staple will be fine.
Cloth is usually easier to work with because it has more give and cloth will last longer then vinyl as vinyl will start to peel after a few years. Yards all differ pending on the chair if its full covered or if its seat and back or just the seat. Hopefully I was able to help answer your questions.
Ficou muito bonito o seu trabalho parabéns
WHERE'S your business located? I would like a tall queen size head board.
ALO I love your upholstery super good job. Just beautiful. Thank you. Lydia Johnson from Chicago
Exactly the info I needed! Thanks for the tips!
How much fabric does the chair take
I love your videos! I have 5 old Hotel chairs to do, and they have metal squiggly rods in them, can I take those off and just do mine like this?
Thank you! It's hard to say without seeing the chairs but most chairs can be done like these chairs.
@@ALOUpholstery Thank you! Have had them for 5 or 6 months now in the garage..am headed out there now to take one apart and see what is inside and am DOING them..cause I am inspired!
I couldn't help but notice that on the chair's back, instead of webbing, you used a heavy tightly woven fabric ---why? Would it be it's because that chair's back won't need that much extra um (?) strength...I can't come up with a better word.
Very nice 👍🏼🥹thanks
Excellent work !! the explanations are precise and clear all along the filming of every details. This is by far one of the very best tutorials on the subject. Keep on the excellent work. Darren is really good at explaining what he is doing and he knows what he is talking about ! A big thank you to Darren and best wishes from France.
You're a magician! I am almost convinced I can do it.
I am looking for a similar kind of dining chair. But some are made with zig zag spring. May I know the difference between having zigzag spring and without ? Is the chair more comfortable without the spring ? As in this kind of Louis Chair.
Thanks for this. I have been looking for exactly this video. I have chairs exactly like that to redo. The set is 50 plus years old. You gave me inspiration to do this !!!
I have cane backed chairs for dining room and couple were damaged in moving. Can back of them be upholstered this way or should cane be replaced? Love your videos. Very informative. Thank you.

What is a good resource for fabric if you don't have a business license and live in the U.S.?
LOVE these videos! Thank you!
Thank you, I think you local fabric supplier will usually carry upholstery grade fabrics but must fabric companies will sell to the public and since you are in the U.S. You will have many options even without a business license.
