All rather beautiful what the fans have done, in keeping Marc's memory alive. I was a schoolgirl when T Rex started to hit the charts. I can remember us girls huddled around a transistor radio, listening on a Tuesday, to see if Hot Love had gone to the number 1 spot. I am 64 now, and those sweet memories and great music stay with me. Thanks for sharing this, much appreciated.
I'm 66 now and I loved him, he was my idol. Such a tragic end of what should have been a wonderful life ahead of him. He was such a big part of our lives all those years ago and will always be missed :-(
He really cleaned himself up after his son was born. Stopped drug consumption, started being more cautious, and cared very much for his son and girlfriend. Sadly the day he died came too soon.
Marc Bolan lived more in his twenty nine years than most of us. He was a special being. Given to our World for a short time. I'm sure he knows all the love all feel for him R.I.P. Dear Marc ✨✨ Love & miss you 💖
I used to live not far from there. Always drove across that bridge and saw the Bolan tree, covered in ribbons and flowers. Very sad that he died so young. Think of the music he could have made. A legend of music but a legacy left behind.
Thank you for keeping his memory alive, I truly hope that every time the wind chime blows Marc knows he is being remembered, I was only 4 years old when this happened, but still today even my children know who the wonderful Marc bolan is and t-rex . I as I'm sure many also wish we had so many more years of his wonderful music. Love and respect to his family and we love and miss you marc 🌹
He once said on a TV show that he predicted that he would die young. RIP Marc thanks for the great legacy and music you left us which will be with us forever.
No matter how weird it may seem, it's all bloody true. I have discovered the site of Bolan's crash in a most unusual way, it was 31 yrs ago when I was living in Putney. One day, suppose it must have been a weekend, I went for a long stroll in the neighbourhood. It was a pre-digital era, and I, a die-hard music fan, had a walkman with, accidentally. some T.Rex tape in. When I wandered along Roehampton Lane, suddenly an odd thought went through my mind. 'Roehampton, that's where Marc died'. I continued my stroll, without any specific direction, crossing one street after another, sort of automatic movement towards Barnes and suddenly - I still can not explain it - I stood before the Tree and all the stuff. One of the weirdest experiences in my life. It was the pre-digital era, with no internet, google maps etc. I did NOT know the exact location, just approximate 'Roehampton area' No logical explanation.
Thanks for putting this up, was a big fan of Marc's still got many of his original albums & I will treasure them always, loved Ride a White Swan, there should be much more in the media about Marc's life etc very underrated as a singer songwriter such a shame as he was an original one off artist sadly never to see the likes of again, he left us far too soon..bet he had so much more to give..
Back in 87 the tree was there ,it was covered in ribbons and letters that fans had left!!! A great talent sadly missed!!! Went there with a friend Kevin H!!!! Thanks Kevin!!! wherever you are!!! Thanks for the memories!!!!Nikki from the North.
Thank you, Keith Harwood died in the same area within a few days ( he was a Rolling Stones recording engineer.) remembered on Love You Live Album. When Marc was a teenager... he attended the last gig of Eddie Cochran, and actually held the fateful taxi door open for Eddie and Gene Vincent. Marc was an inspiration.
I drive pass the road where he died every day.. Then one day driving home to St Margaret's, I had my radio on and he came on singing white Swan I couldn't believe it very spooky..
The best of the best always tragically die young. Marc died before his time and I am sure he had many more fabulous poetry and songs in his heart to share with the world. I loved him so much through the early 1970s through all these years. A beautiful man who brightened my life with his music. Thank you, Marc. Hope you serenade me in heaven some day. God blessed you.

I adored Marc Bolan , still do I was fortunate to visit this shrine a couple of years ago didn't realise his house was so close or I would have visited it ,
Walking home from my mate James' house in Putney to Sheen as a teenager I walked past the tree with my guitar. I'd seen it for years before as a kid but as a young guitarist it meant more all of a sudden so I stopped and strummed a C chord. Sad the tree's gone but hey, glad people still know about it ❤
I would have liked to strum along with you. He did enjoy using the simple chords of C, G, E, Am, F. Simple, but what music came from them. He magically crafted musical poetry.

Thank you for sharing, growing up in the 70's Marc's music was part of my childhood. I still listen to and love his music today. Sadly taken way before his time.
Very uncanny coincidences. Great video. Very sad situation. He reminds me a little of Johnny Depp. I hope his son is doing well. RIP😢 Thanks for posting this. It was very well done and respectful. So many talented artists who have left their mark and died too soon. It must have devastated his parents and family. 💔
First of all well done with this video which was very moving. I remember seeing TREX in Edinburgh way back in the early 70's. They were electrifying and Marc Bolan just had it all the complete STAR. On the day of his death I was deeply affected and confess to still being consumed by his passing. It is lovely to see his shrine and the dedication of his fans. I often visit the statue/shrine of Freddie Mercury's in Montreux and will make a point of travelling to see Marc's shrine before its too late. I'm in my 60's now but the music of the 70's is always in my heart. Thank you again young man.
Thanks for that Sir. I was 12 when my Pommie mates introduced me to T.Rex here in NZ. He was awesome! Come to pay my respects. Peace everyone. R.I.P Mark.🌹
It's great that he has his own shrine and most of all I think where he had the accident I live in the US since 1969. At the time I was into the guitar thing and I had the LP or 45 singles with "Jeepster" and also the tune of course "Get It On" and I learned it how to play it a very simple song and I had posters of him. What's really tragic is that within hours of his death people broke into his house, stole his guitars and anything else of value while Gloria was still in hospital...... vultures....
I heard on the story about Marc that Marc's record company stopped Gloria from having anything of Marc's,another band to get ripped off.saying because they weren't married, even though she had Marc's son,she wasn't in titled.what a load of rubbish.they kicked her out of the house.terrible.
I am also 66, soon to be 67. Marc was my idol. I had posters of him on my bedroom wall. I have all of his records and my favourite will always be Electric Warrior
Imagine living in one of those apartments/houses next to the shrine. It's such a spiritual location for many people and, despite the tragic aspect, it's now part of rock folklore.
My god all in a line dancing to Ride a White Swan . He was a demi god every girl was in love with him. He was first glam rock Bowie and others followed him. @WALK IN MY SHADOW Yes in his late 20s he was starting to lose his looks so def think he would have gone down hill in few years after that if he had lived.
Every 6 weeks or so I would accompany my wife when she would visit Barnes and have her highlights done this was back in the mid 90’s this would continue until we moved from London. She was 13 years older than me and was into T-Rex and the whole glam rock era of the early 70’s.Every time we passed the bridge into Barnes she would talk about those times.Sadly she died of skin cancer back in 2006.
My total legend utterly devastated when he was killed I'm just so glad he was part of my life and seeing him in concert when I was growing up but his music lives on LEGEND always will be to me his legacy was his music and his soon.Keep a little Marc in your ❤
Thank you so much. They are on my radar - there should be a Freddie Mercury video in the next few weeks but there will be a reference to Queen and Bowie in my next video.
I was young when he died but old enough to have a crush on the singer. I can remember the upsetting news but this video puts it into context. I thought he was a distant rock star but after seeing this video, I'm shocked to hear that he died a mile away from my home. That was a sad day. Thanks for this video. ( Am a new sub)
i remember that News day very well one early report withing days said mark was actually asleep in the mini when the accident happened . also that he wouldn’t have known Anything when it crashed where that story came from i have know idea You would assume that quote came from his girlfriend Gloria . that statue definitely doesn’t look like Mark though from a distance it could be Jim Morrison from the Doors . the humming bird at the end was unexpected nice vid 👍🏻
another good video of much misted artist even today would have drawn large amount of fans i watched trex on the tv cross leged on the floor doing his songs this is back early 70s .cheers
Many year's ago I did a sketch drawing of Marc Bolan freehand and it came out perfect that people thought I had traced over a photo of him wish I knew what happened to it cause if I still had it I could have went to the UK and brought it to his shrine RIP Marc 🌹💖🎸🎼🎶🎵

Yes, on the Russell Harty show I believe. In fact there is a utube video titled 'Marc Bolan Death Coincidences' that is worth checking out.
nice to see...but it gets more and more disgraceful that a movie has never been made about this iconic british musicians life!......rock on marc......
Maybe a movie has not been made because they may only may have to include Gary Glitter who I believe was a friend of his.

That was really cool to see where it happened. Thanks for showing us. So sad tho...
Really cool video, I love this type of history and knowledge, great stuff
Thank you
My total legend utterly devastated when he was killed I'm just so glad he was part of my life and seeing him in concert when I was growing up but his music lives on LEGEND always will be to me his legacy was his music and his soon.Keep a little Marc in your ❤
Thank you- I was 24 when he died. Such a loss.
Great tribute video of a glamrock star.Marc bolan R.I.P
Thank you for sharing, I was a fan when T.Rex were storming the UK charts .
Thank you
Get It On was number 1 when I was born. I love T Rex
I literally saw it today. Just by random chance I drove past. Had to park somewhere and pay my respects.
Another informative vid. Good work. Any videos on Bowie or Queen related in the future would be great!
Thank you so much. They are on my radar - there should be a Freddie Mercury video in the next few weeks but there will be a reference to Queen and Bowie in my next video.
@@LTJones awesome! Thanks, looking forward to it. 👌
Nice to see it's not been wrecked by kids. RIP to Marc Bolan, a TRUE British legend.
I love this video. Thank you for sharing this with me.
I was and still a big fan of Marc then and Nov
I was young when he died but old enough to have a crush on the singer. I can remember the upsetting news but this video puts it into context. I thought he was a distant rock star but after seeing this video, I'm shocked to hear that he died a mile away from my home. That was a sad day. Thanks for this video. ( Am a new sub)
Thank you so much
Thank you for your work with the bolan blog, Mark was so different, to anybody,.......... Bowie, bolan, lennon, elvis.... Right time for each. 👌⌚🇫🇷
Thank you
C'est moi qui vous remerci. 🇫🇷
i remember that News day very well one early report withing days said mark was actually asleep in the mini when the accident happened . also that he wouldn’t have known Anything when it crashed where that story came from i have know idea You would assume that quote came from his girlfriend Gloria . that statue definitely doesn’t look like Mark though from a distance it could be Jim Morrison from the Doors . the humming bird at the end was unexpected nice vid 👍🏻
My dad was a policeman at Barnes station, he was first on site after the crash. I was a huge T Rex fan. I was devastated when he told me. 😢
did your dad ever give you [and im not being a ghoul here ] any details weve not heard of ?
another good video of much misted artist even today would have drawn large amount of fans i watched trex on the tv cross leged on the floor doing his songs this is back early 70s .cheers
Love u Marc..I dance myself when I was twelve ..First time I heard you .🥰🥰When I was twelve..1972
Thank you very much for that film and info". I went and paid " homage" there about 30years ago ,not seen it since. Just as sad now as it was then.
I loved Marc Bolan when i was about 12, 13. Tragic he died so young.
