  • In this training, we cover how to exit learning limited and the Facebook ad learning phase. The best way to get out of the learning phase to stabilize results, get lower costs, and bring consistency to your results is to follow these best practices...

    Learning phase best practices:

    During the learning phase, ad sets are less stable and usually have a higher CPA.
    To avoid behaviors that prevent ad sets from exiting the learning phase...
    Wait to edit your ad set until its out of the learning phase (7-days)

    During the learning phase, performance is less stable, so your results aren't always indicative of future performance.
    By editing an ad, ad set or campaign during the learning phase, you'll reset learning and delay the algorithms ability to optimize for you.
    Avoid unnecessary edits that cause ad sets to re-enter the learning phase.

    So many people finally get out of the learning phase but then end up putting themselves right back in it...
    Any edits that could change how your ad set might perform in the future can cause an ad set to re-enter the learning phase.
    So only edit your ads or ad set when you have reason to believe that doing so would improve performance.
    Avoid high ad volumes.

    When you create way too many ads and ad sets, the algorithm learns less about each ad and ad set than when you create fewer ads and ad sets.
    But you should also still be testing new creative and audience strategies in other campaigns because it's still essential for improving your performance over time.
    Finally, if you can't seem to get out of the learning phase there is few reasons for why...

    1. The bid control or cost control is too low.
    2. Your budget is too low.
    3. Your audience size is too small.
    4. You have too many ad sets.
    5. Your optimization event occurs very infrequently.
    6. Other ad sets from the same ad account are winning auctions instead.
    The bottom line is completing the learning phase is necessary to help the algorithm best optimize your ad sets and ads to get the best results at the most consistent costs...

    Hello Chase, thank you so much for your content and video. I am worried a little bit because as soon as my ads were published the next day, they went straight into the Learning phase, and I have never encountered that problem. I am unsure of what to do, I know I have to wait 7 days, but my money is still spending and I am getting fewer views on my website than ever. I am thinking to change my conversion window from a 1-day view to a 7-day view to be able to get more purchases and get out of the Learning phase asap. Do you think that is a good idea?

      Same problem here. FB takes it pretty long to put the ad at the active status.

    Hey Chase,
    Have you every experience an adset or cbo performing well and then begins to perform very poorly after it hits the “learning limited” phase?

    • @ChaseChappell
      @ChaseChappell  3 роки тому

      Yes, this is due to specific ad sets not receiving enough data to exit learning phase. Which can make your ad sets performance inconsistent even with other ad sets apart of the CBO campaign.

      Could mean that you’ve already exited learning phase, you use a personal ad account instead of a business one, or you haven’t waited 24 hrs to populate.

    Hey Chase,
    I have an ABO campaign with 2 ad sets that work great till they get in 'learning limited' status after about 2 or 3 days and the results are awful after it.
    My budget is $200 per each ad sets and I have about 13 purchases per day in each ad set. Additionally, I'm using 7 days or 1 click.
    How can I solve it?
    Thanks

    • @ChaseChappell
      @ChaseChappell  4 роки тому

      Switch to 7-day click, pull back spend then let them run to see if they start getting consistent sales before you decide to scale them up to exit learning.

    • @ChaseChappell

      @@philipshinder6919 7 day click allows the system to optimize over 7 days to get 50 conversions to exit learning. If you have or 1day view then the system will likely choose to optimize for 50 conversions based only on 1 day view. Then it resets every single day. So if you are not likely going to get 50 conversions in 1 day in makes more sense to choose 7 day to have a great enough chance to exit learning phase.

    Why do my ad sets only say active and dont show the learning phase?

    • @ChaseChappell
      @ChaseChappell  3 роки тому

      Likely is from having a personal ad account instead of a business ad account. Have you set up your own business manager or are you using your personal facebook ad account?

      @@ChaseChappell Hey man thanks for replying. It's 100% a business account and I do all my campaigns through the business manager. I contacted facebook and all they said is that it was good that my ad sets go straight to Active because it means facebook already knows how to deliver them efficiently. However on another business account I have in which I spend a lot more money on ads it does go to the learning phase.

    News Subs here, run a CBO, for around 20 usd per day with 10 adsets with only 1 ad, and im running only in my country, all adsets were on learning phase on its 1st day got somehow fairly purchases but on its 2nd day my CPM,CPC went higher basically just went down compare to its 2nd day, but it got somehow purchases somehow near from my Breakeven roas. what do u think should i do?

    • @ChaseChappell

      To exit learning it would be better for you to just combine the audiences so you stack all results under one ad set. This will increase your chances of exiting the Facebook Ad Learning Phase.

    Does it actually matter if it doesn't exit learning limited? I see no different in performance...

    • @ChaseChappell
      @ChaseChappell  3 роки тому

      Exiting learning phase allows results to stabilize and most see a 14-22% lift in results. But at the end of the day we never worry about the learning phase as we see great results already during learning phase.
