Happy to say that I was there at ITH last week. Rented an AirBB in the forest. Loved it. Toured the community with Amy who did a great job. Toured 5 or 6 tiny homes, giving me a good feel for the differences in size, etc. Walked the property every day and was able to meet some of the residents who were very friendly and seemed to love living there (Had a Randy and Ace sighting!). Will and Becky in ITH sales made sure that I was filled in on the purchasing opportunities and answered my many questions. I checked out Newport, Morristown, Knoxville, and Hot Springs, North Carolina. The area is so beautiful and amenities are within a reasonable drive. So glad that I visited. I recommend a visit to anyone considering a ITH purchase. It gave me a good feel for living tiny in ITH and confirmed my desire to live tiny.

RANDY, you just went to the top of my list in " men", after what you said about Amanda being the strongest woman you know. I am coming to The Grove. I ALSO suffer ( and have done, for 15 years) from multiple Degenerative autoimmune diseases. Currently, I'm waiting for 3 back surgeries. I'm DESPERATE to open the little " CAFE" I mentioned in a comment. It's a dream which can only become a reality if my back surgery is successful. Right NOW, I can walk around 12steps. I BELIEVE I'm strong ( because I endure this, every second of every day). Not many people see ME as being strong, even though I worked, until the day I dropped. I drove myself to the ER, and had a Pulmonary Embolism and Sepsis in my Gallbladder. As women, we tend to fight through things.Im fighting through divorce and moving 1,000 miles from my old life. THAT , to me, is strength. You are so right about Amanda ( and so many other women, who show strength, in different ways)

I would love to hear more zoning/ordinance things behind the scenes. As far as changing ordinances and such, I reccomend looking into how the getaway house folks did it. You can find some of their proposals online.

Please do not remove the 3x4 end wall window. It will cause the I-Box to appear cramped inside. If someone wants to reclaim that wall they can block it on the interior with plywood or drywall and apply a finish. Or maybe you can offer an option to omit it on a order by order basis.

The town I live in really only wants mega money people living in it. But there are some people who do care about the elderly and low income families. The cost to hook up to the sewer system is crazy. It's sad really 😥

Randy/Amanda. Regarding list of subscribers for giveaway: I sent an email to ITH about a possible way to do this this morning and it has to do with working with your UA-cam manager. Another way is you can create an online form for people to fill out to register for the giveaway. It would be less manual for you than postcards and you could verify more easily with subscribers. Just put on the form disclaimers at the bottom of the form that you will verify they are part of first 100k and that their info will remain confidential. Similar concept of a mailing list but for the giveaway. Oh and another way is I think the UA-cam API, without parameters, randomly returns the subscribers. If that is the case it is already a randomizer so you could run it like 10 times and then select a random number and find the returned row in the results that match the random number and that is the winner only if their subscriber ID is 100000 or less. If it is over choose another random number to make sure the subscriber was in the first 100k. That should work!

Randy- Nooooooo😱😱😱😱😱 there has to be another way. Some of the worst outcomes have come from the best of intentions, here's what I mean. I don't know any millionaires renting out their back yards so this additional proposed city tax realistically only effects the middle class and the poor or low income, burdening them with yet another yearly tax bill to pay while scrapping by. There are also those with Airbnb's in their back yard, again not rich people- they would simply hike up their rent rates big time!!! Or those that put a tiny home in their back yard for an ageing parent they would be subjected to this tax as well. What if you have a tenant that fell on hard times and can't pay their lot rent? Yet, your still required to pay this tax. I could go on and on as you can tell😂😂😂. Here's my fear, paying $100.00 per month to the city with no cap on future increases. I will assume that tax would still exist even if you don't have a renter for a tiny house that's on your property 🤔😱. Let's not forget landlords are already required to report and pay taxes on rental income. My husband and I will at some point be on a fixed income and those additional rising costs would be a major concern. The cost of things (taxes, food, gas, water, electric, internet, cable, cell phones, medication and so on) never stay the same they only go up..... At the end of the day I see those additional city fees or costs passed down to the renter not the home/land owners- mark my words this would be a bell you can't unring if implemented. Example: The cost of materials to build your tiny homes went up, you no longer sell them at the original price. You had to increase the cost of your homes passing it onto the consumer the same concept applies to your proposed city tax it Will get passed onto the renters. No one wants to at this point voluntarily pay an additional $1,200 per year in this economy and that's if you only have one tiny home. let's say someone has 2 or 3 tiny homes on their property that's upwards of $3,600.00 per year without an increase ever in that tax. What if that same tax over time went up to 200.00 per tiny home per month (200.00× 3 tiny homes= 600.00 x 12 months= $7,200.00 yearly- scary!!! Randy, in no way do I mean to be a negative Nelly I only wanted you to see the down side of this tax and who it ultimately impacts which would be the opposite of what you're trying to accomplish. There are ways you can generate funds for your city personally I can think of about nine things off the top of my head that would put the community in a positive light, so all is not lost you just have to be creative. I could bounce ideas off you that would make your head spin🙃😂. With that said, I may not be a fan of this idea (the Randy tax - lol) but we love everything else you guys have done and what you stand for👏👏🥰 your heart always seems to be in the right place. The windmill idea on the island is a great idea. The windmill can be connected to the aerator for the pond - wind power!
Add a water wheel to the mill and you don't even need an additional aerator.

Hi, Randy and Amanda, how about you put a form for everyone to fill out! For the drawing of the house, on your site then everyone can print it out, fill it out and mail back to you!!! Be easier for you guys to figure out what information you want to put on there, also read it easier when you get it back!! I think it would be much easier for everyone, especially you there in the office!!! Also have them print their names and everything else you need from them and put in envelope to mail back there to all of you!!!! Thanks Kit 108 degrees for us here in Oroville Calif. Like 7 days in row so far more to come!!!!

Some of the worst outcomes have come from the best of intentions, here's what I mean.
I don't know any millionaires renting out their back yards so this additional proposed city tax realistically only effects the middle class and the poor or low income, burdening them with yet another yearly tax bill to pay while scrapping by. There are also those with Airbnb's in their back yard, again not rich people- they would simply hike up their rent rates big time!!! Or those that put a tiny home in their back yard for an ageing parent they would be subjected to this tax as well. What if you have a tenant that fell on hard times and can't pay their lot rent? Yet, your still required to pay this tax. I could go on and on as you can tell😂😂😂.
Here's my fear, paying $100.00 per month to the city with no cap on future increases. I will assume that tax would still exist even if you don't have a renter for a tiny house that's on your property 🤔😱. Let's not forget landlords are already required to report and pay taxes on rental income.
My husband and I will at some point be on a fixed income and those additional rising costs would be a major concern. The cost of things (taxes, food, gas, water, electric, internet, cable, cell phones, medication and so on) never stay the same they only go up.....
At the end of the day I see those additional city fees or costs passed down to the renter not the home/land owners- mark my words this would be a bell you can't unring if implemented.
Example: The cost of materials to build your tiny homes went up, you no longer sell them at the original price. You had to increase the cost of your homes passing it onto the consumer the same concept applies to your proposed city tax it Will get passed onto the renters.
No one wants to at this point voluntarily pay an additional $1,200 per year in this economy and that's if you only have one tiny home. let's say someone has 2 or 3 tiny homes on their property that's upwards of $3,600.00 per year without an increase ever in that tax. What if that same tax over time went up to 200.00 per tiny home per month (200.00× 3 tiny homes= 600.00 x 12 months= $7,200.00 yearly- scary!!!
Randy, in no way do I mean to be a negative Nelly I only wanted you to see the down side of this tax and who it ultimately impacts which would be the opposite of what you're trying to accomplish. There are ways you can generate funds for your city personally I can think of about nine things off the top of my head that would put the community in a positive light, so all is not lost you just have to be creative. I could bounce ideas off you that would make your head spin🙃😂.
With that said, I may not be a fan of this idea (the Randy tax - lol) but we love everything else you guys have done and what you stand for👏👏🥰 your heart always seems to be in the right place.

@@CapysGardenShop I'm all for people purchasing unrestricted land and making their own tiny community. People can chip in on it to make it happen. And still buy homes from Randy. But with this proposed tax, they would have to dig deeper in their pockets. It could get to the point that tiny living just gets to expensive to obtain- that saddens me. I'm not sure why people don't get why this is just a very bad idea.
I adore Randy and Amanda but strongly disagree with them on this one.
