I thought I "knew" this song. I was wrong. Yet again, a thoughtful cover song allows me to hear someone's art in a beautiful new context. The lyrics hit different. The music approached from another angle. Plenty of skill and soul here. Thank you both!
My favorite track of the album, didn't think the dynamics and the musical anger of the original could be matched with just a pianist, but damn... And then her voice... I might even like this one better
Great paino work here too, not only her voice and singing technique (that by the way are fitting this so well). It's not easy to recreate a Finneas + Billie atmosphere, especially when you also have to rethink it. And I love that piano sound and arrangement, as well as it has been played.
No way, after hearing the second part a second time, that really sounds like Patrick Watson's "Je te laisserai des mots" piece! It fits this song perfectly!
You gonna turn this song into a (jazz) standard! Great great voice, nice feel. The piano sounds maybe a bit too deep, or the basses have been pushed post-prod.
I personally love the sound and think it sits really nice on the lower end, creating a bit of separation from the vocals. The cloth between the hammers and strings (1:10) is what's dampening the more standard, brighter sound. Also doesn't look like the piano's mic'd around the hammers, which would add to that effect. Of course this has been mixed, I just wanted to point out that it's likely there's not much artifice going on in post here (or with any of Stories' recordings).
You have a beautiful voice. This interpretation is not the best to me because the note/key you sang in for "Just fucking leave me alone" needed more passion and pain in it. Its almost like it turned sweet at that moment like you held back and didn't want to go there. Like you didn't really want the person to leave you alone for real like you didn't even believe what you were saying/singing. Anyways I still liked. It'd be cool if you did it again with a different more passionate interpretation in mind. thanks for your cover
Her level of control is insane. And her vocal texture was absolutely perfect for this.
🙏🏼🙏🏼 thank you for having me :)

What a good song Finneas and Billy wrote .
And fantastic interpretation there, congrats to the singer and the pianist.
