Getting Into Industrial?

- For those wanting to get into industrial, here are some starting places all in one video! I had to look all over the place to find these bands, so this should be your starting guide. I've always loved the robotic, cold sound of the music, and Nine Inch Nails has been one of my favorite bands for years.
Bands mentioned:
Throbbing Gristle
Cabaret Voltaire
Portion Control
Nitzer Ebb
Front 242
Front Line Assembly
Lords of Acid
Skinny Puppy
Ministry
Nine Inch Nails
Velvet Acid Christ
My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult
KMFDM
Einsturzende Neubeauten (I probably mispronounced them in the video, my German is scheibe!)
Obviously had to leave out a few bands to keep the video short and get the point across the best way I can, but maybe some day I'll do another video about more and newer acts. Also check out Pigface, Wumpscut, Pig, Rammstein, and Test Dept. For those who already know these bands, maybe this will put you in the mood to hear them again...

Killing Joke and Leaetherstrip always deserve more recognition.
I love those bands ^^
Any rexcomendations for Leatherstrip? Don't knkw where to start
@@rockingchairsofpiss1404 Solitary Confinement, Pleasure of Penetration and Satanic Citizen are my two favorites.
@@rockingchairsofpiss1404 Fit For Flogging is breathtakingly good.
Killing Joke is awesome! They were an epic 80's punk band that went industrial. They even shared a drummer With ministry, Martin Atkins.
I’m an older guy, a musician, and a bit of a music snob. Just wanted to tell you I thought you did a great job with this video. It doesn’t matter at all if you missed something, or rather I agree with everything you said or not. You show a lot of love for the music and really picked some essential things everybody should listen to to find their way into the industrial world. Industrial music fits in so well with the world as it feels right now. It would be great if it had a resurgence in popularity. Thanks for pushing that possibility forward!
Thank you a lot. Obviously I've left things out and mispronounced a few things, but hey, that's what happens when you live in North Carolina where there's no one to talk to about this stuff!
KMFDM changed my life
I started with Throbbing Gristle, Ministry, Coil and Godflesh. Now I love the genre!
What genre? Industrial or Cock rock?
. . . AUTHOR & PUNISHER
True Story: I got into this dark, beautiful world because I once read the name "Einstürzende Neubauten" and thought it was a cool name. It just sounds good and rolls off the tongue.
Great channel!
Cleanse Fold and Manipulate was my stairway down (up?) a spiral of industrial mania.
Thanks for getting me into Industrial! Skinny Puppy is fantastic!
SlenderMansBuddy front 242 is better
Yes, Skinny Puppy are legendary!
@@triariicat8448 front 242 is better than skinny puppy.. I dont wanna be a toxic asshole here but thats ridiculous ..
I hate to burst your bubbles, but FLA is better than both Front 242 and Skinny Puppy imo
@@fzerowipeoutlover oh c'mon.. FLA did a cover of "Rock me Amadeus".. a little cheesy..
I suppose I could recommend:
Anenzephalia - Ephemeral Dawn
Clock DVA - Buried Dreams
D.A.F. - Alles Ist Gut
Funker Vogt - Funker Vogt
Lard - The Last Temptation Of Reed
Nocturnal Emissions - Tissue Of Lies
Robert Rental & Thomas Leer - The Bridge
Severed Heads - Since The Accident
Test Dept. - Beating The Retreat
Vomito Negro - Shock
Severed Heads,Thomas Leer, and Nocturnal Emissions so bloody good!
Try Circle of Dust - Brainchild
another recommendation:
Die Krupps - II: The Final Options
Ghostemane has a lot of industrial-influenced songs, check out his new song “Lazaretto”.
Severed Heads is criminally underrated
First industrial I listened to was Nine Inch Nails pretty hate machine. I really liked it so I dug in more
That's funny because Pretty Hate Machine is full with Pop and Rock music. No Industrial there.
Pigface is an underrated industrial band that id recommend.
Song or album recommendations?
@@Grim_reviews I’d say Gub or Notes from Thee Underground are good places to start for albums.
Yes, there’s so many Industrial underrated bands.
You forgot Chemlab. Another great industrial band
Great band
Chemlab was the bomb. I remember hanging with Jared after their first visit to Portland, and we spoke about literature for like 45 minutes afterwards. An excellent and genuine person. I would have never heard of the wonderful authors Djuna Barnes or Nathaniel West. This was like 1994 at the old Pine Street Theater for the debut album "Burn Out At Hyrdogen Bar!"
The only stuff by them I've been able to get my hands on is a remix they once did for indie band Elbow. Hunt it down if you can, trust me!
Chemlab is so painfully underrated.
i still have a chemlab t shirt somewhere. They just came out with a recent Album this year iirc. found Jared on Instagram just recently.
Throbbing Gristle Is too good!
They are fucking terrifyingly good. Do you like Psychic TV?
Hey!
So, i listened to their Second and Third Annual Report, but i just don't get it. I really want to understand them, but for me is just random noise. How can you like it? It's a legit question, i am fascinated by the band, i would really like to listen to more of them.
Throbbing Gristle is pretty hard to listen to. They're quite experimental and their music is known for being "anti-music", basically throwing away conventional musical structure in favor of a scary and unsettling vibe.
What's funny tho is that Genesis' (lead singer of TG) side project Psychic TV is pretty poppy lol
I became friends with Genesis P-Orridge many many years ago before he/she became ill and he/she was a deeply eccentric (as to be expected) and fascinating person. It hurt me deeply when he/she passed away. They really deserve all the recognition they can get because they helped pave the road for a lot of the awesome bands who found inspiration from them and ran with it.
impressed this kid knew his stuff, especially the early industrial music.
Listen to the album Filth by Swans, absolutely bludgeoning no wave/industrial band.
Truth be told!
+Killbot&GorGorAttack!! For most of their 80's output atleast let me know what you think!
Yes Swans are really awesome!
Suicide Commando,Alien Vampires,Faderhead,
Wumpscut,Die Krupps and Combichrist are pretty bad ass as well.
You confuse Industrial with Pop and Techno.
@IndustrialApester098
Nothing i would call Industrial. It's just Pop and Techno.
@IndustrialApester098
There is a list on my channel.
@IndustrialApester098
I don't care about these "pseudo-Goth" radio stations. Industrial music is older than the entire Goth movement. Goths cannot redefine a music genre that doesn't belong to them.
@IndustrialApester098
There is no Industrial music in Goth clubs. Most of this crap ist Pop and Techno. I told you already three times. Goths confuse a lot of genres.
My favorite Kmfdm album is Hau Ruck my favorite Skinny Puppy album is Too Dark Park and my favorite Nine Inch Nails album is the Downward Spiral
Super old comment but Hau Ruck rules
I love coming back to this video, thanks for making it!
loved the video, you actually got me into velvet acid christ, now they're one of my favorite industrial projects,or band,or something
I'm one of the old school guys 52. I got into Skinny Puppy around 1985 and Remission their first album was my first introduction to them and I was hooked immediately. I started out in hardcore punk and heavy metal and trash metal but went straight into anything industrial. Got into Ministry next then Front 242 and once I meet other people into the same thing I was into I was introduced to the whole world of all things industrial. Absolutely love Throbbing Gristle and eventually because friends with Genesis P-Orridge and because I was a musician and started playing EDM and industrial style music I eventually meet a guy who was deeply plugged into the scene and we worked together on a couple albums (at the time it was called ESP) and through him I was able to become friends with cEvin Key and Nivek Ogre of Skinny Puppy as well as Dre Robinson aka Data Bomb and I own a keyboard that was his. Industrial music completely shaped who I am now and opened me up to do much differently types of music that I probably otherwise wouldn't have ever heard of before. Bands like The Legendary Pink Dots (of which I'm very good friends with those guys) and Edward Kaspels solo work etc etc.. It really makes me happy to see the younger people getting into these bands and spreading the word of how awesome they are. And behind all of the music are people who are truly great human beings and so passionate about what they do. Keep up the great job of introducing these bands and never stop exploring the world of underground obscure music. There's so much goodness to be found. Brap on...
this video got me into velvet acid christ and godflesh, thanks man, love the vids
Best collection recommendations I've seen and heard. Rock on
I kinda got into industrial with listening to the Crow Soundtrack and Nine Inch Nails. I then discovered Joy Division and some of the bands on Wax Trax. Cool to see this becoming more accessible genre.
Skinny Puppy - Too Dark Park was my FIRST album from them. the album that got me hooked to discovery all the other albums. also to note that if you like House like breakdance stuff the newer albums after the "process" have more club hip-hop elements too. i know its like they "sold out" but still maintain the feel of the 90s but they still keep the old fans and some new ones. if you like the horror skinny puppy but like to go to the club for the typical sounds of top 40 rap and pop you might still enjoy the new wave of Skinny Puppy a band that knows how to roll with the current trend in the mainstream but still not as commercial as Nine Inch Nails.
mine too. still my favorite SP album.
😂
Too Dark Park is a masterpiece
vivisect vi.
@@plebian44 fuck yea vivisect vi is the bomb! Too dark park is a great album but vivisect vi is a monster. The first song 'Dogshit' just steamrolls right through, letting you know that they ain't fucking around
That was like a flashback to the early 90's. Thanks! Skinny Puppy was always my favorite. I used to sleep to Last Rights on repeat.
I love all of your industrial videos :')
No mention of PIG? You need to listen to PIG if you haven't. Raymond Watts is one of the guys that made 90's KMFDM so good. Sinsation and Wrecked are probably his best albums. I consider him to be the best vocalist in the Industrial Rock genre.
Oh he's damn good! And yes, fantastic vocals >:D
agree. pig/watts - brilliant. i could make a case for Foetus/Thrilwell - but then i'd have to make the same case with any avant garde jazz list... and i, admittedly, am way too dumb to "get," let alone, write, about that shit.
PIG!!!!!!!!!!
Pig wouldn't be if not for Jim Thirlwell. Hail the Foetus!
PIG is great, by band, Scifidelic, opened up for them in denver a few months back
Strapping Young Lad’s first two albums are great industrial metal albums.
I was having a shitty day, so THANK YOU FOR THIS! I really loved the suggestions and humour in this too :D
Great chronology of the Industrial genre. Much appreciated.
Dude I LOVE your nerdy enthusiasm.
I agree with the skinny puppy montage...they are my first and favourite
sorry, just wanted to give an fyi...I am pretty sure it not pronounced front twofortytwo but front 2 4 2
Really nice panorama ! Great job !
Such a great overview of the genre and reviews of the bands. I used to be into more industrial music and some drone, think I should start getting into it again!
Skinny Puppy's Bites and Remission was my first intro back in 1990 ... it has been an amazing trip!
i was already into it, just wanna get some new reccomendations, thanks dude!
7:30 Only in extreme music is this a compliment
Nice vid, I like industrial as a genre as well as other genre with industrial influences, this vid will definetly be useful 👍👍
This is an absolutely fantastic breakdown on a intro and timeline to the genre, probably the most defining genre to my life. I actually have the vinyl edition of Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? by RevCo with KY jelly in the sleeve.
This is one of the best UA-cam videos I have ever seen!
Cubanate is criminally underrated for getting JDM car enthusiasts into industrial music and industrial listeners into JDM cars with four songs in Gran Turismo.
Ok I'll shut my face off you really mastered that whole o'le industral thing ! Respect !
Hey man I really appreciated this video. Got to discover alot of new stuff. I have some Industrial bands to reccomend if your interested : My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, A Split Second, Tit Wrench, Chemlab, The Rabid Whole, Mechanized Warfare, L.O.T.I.O.N., Sheep On Drugs, Manufacture, Pailhead (Ministry and Minor Threat members)
Thanks so much for getting me into Industrial. It has become my favorite non-metal genre. I particularly love Velvet Acid Christ and KMFDM. I also love Mortiis, though I`m not sure he counts as Industrial but some of his stuff certainly sounds the part to me.
Also try Wumpscut and Die Krupps if you haven’t
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack Will do, thanks man.
Love Skinny Puppy, Front 242, Front Line Assembly, and NIN
Skinny Puppy is like a fine wine. One of the best!
Would’ve liked to hear more industrial techno names and maybe Killing Joke, but I appreciate your taste in music!
A few others I would recommend:
A Split Second, H3llbent, Battery, Converter, Bigod 20, Bile, Lost Image, Coil, Chemlab, & if you are wanting some more recent groups, well, there's Grendel, Xentrifuge, Xotox, SITD, Asphyxia, Larva, etc. Its difficult to declutter everything but its good to see someone speaking about Industrial with enthusiasm. However, we aren't metal per say & some of us Rivetheads arent interested in Metal. Great video! Hope to see an updated version of this!!
I am late to your video, but I have to say you did pretty well in giving an overview into “industrial” music, which is probably the best rubric for this type of music.
I won’t second guess your additions (or omissions) but it is a topic that you could make an hour long video. But I did just want to say that, as someone who was there first-hand for it ya done good.
My discovery into the industrial music scene was Ministry and then quickly found NIN and Skinny Puppy - truly incredible year for me in 1992.
Once in a while somebody asks me what industrial music is, and I don’t know how to even begin to explain. The looseness and variety of the genre are part of why I love it so much.
This is an awesome video on industrial
If I could explain the sound of Godflesh, it would be:
The sound of a Tank running over your head.
Brutal, indeed.
Wow, there is so much to respond to here I think I need to go on for several paragraphs. Ultimately I think you've done some incredible justice to the word "Industrial" as far as music goes because all the layers, time periods, expressions in sounds and instruments is so key. It's like you've taken me on a journey of my teens, twenties and beyond. and yes, there is that issue with that one bands' title so they get called "RevCo" at times. Easier on the parents to say that. *wink* btw: While you get used to the character Manservant Hecubus, Thrill Kill Kult's "Devil Bunnies" often reminds me of him these days.
What I truly love is I've seen you come from the more metal music interest, so going down the road of industrial is especially mind broadening. And yes, you have helped me on my journey. It's a road I've traveled, but dammit, it's a good road to go down many times! Thanks. ^_^
Good vid. I remember about 27 years ago I moved to a town that was slightly bigger than the town I was living in. At that time I was into GnR and SkidRow, but then I met a kid from New Mexico who introduced me to Skinny Puppy Last Rites... this changed my musical taste forever
This video was pretty freaking good!! It's the first industrial music repeated video that I find very good! You know what you're talking about and the best part is you're having fun and not taking it so seriously like many fans in the scene. You're inspiring me to make a video of my favorite industrial bands. Thank you very much for teaching us very nice bands! Greetinga from Mexico City 🤟
Agh... The word "repeated" was autocorrect 😅...
Just found this video. Earned a subscriber and enlightened me of far more bands that I was aware of. Needed this for my DOOM playing addiction. Cool music and awesome personality; I'll be checking out your videos.
my first industrial album I got into was kmfdm xtort
I like the way your not afraid to show cd’s on yer vid! Most hipsters always wave a rare early vinyl copy of an industrial band no one’s ever heard of, and swear that they “got this really cheap from some charity shop!” But you know their taking shit straight away!!!!
the nine inch nails section of this is literally me
HUGE fan
i have a box specifically for my nine inch nails 'memorabilia' (hehehe)
I started listening industrial waaaay back 85. I was 15. It was skinny puppy that started for me. I still listen to industrial. I'm also a musician who writes industrial. You did a great job. You did your research. 🤘
Oh fuck yeah! Just wish I didn’t brutally mispronounce a few names. I’ve learned my lesson by now! Lol
Dude you got me into industrial! 🤘
It’s so cool that when I listen to Ministry in a playlist rotation with other diverse artists, Uncle Al’s voice really stands out...sometimes I take for granted how amazingly unique his vocal style is...and its fascinating how he can change his voice around from soft and sultry to shrill and abrasive...Al really deserves a lifetime achievement award from the Grammys & the fucking Oscars 🚨🚨🚨
Please give kudos to whomever it was who took you under their wing and taught you well, grasshopper. Not only was it nicely put but I didn't find myself arguing with you or yelling out loud at the TV like most people do to a football game when their team is losing, which is what I often do when I watch these kinds of pieces on genres of music that is not only near and dear to my heart but very personal in my playlists, life, and history as a DJ for 25 years. I'm always disagreeing with most people's assessments on You Tube. Watching your piece tonight it was quite the opposite where I found myself agreeing with most of it, out loud in fact! That says a lot for a very difficult persnickety old dawg who doesn't want to learn new tricks and is relatively satisfied with my era of the best industrial stuff! I found your uninhibited enthusiasm extremely refreshing too. We used to call people with your energy at the club Perki-goths, despite the catalog you were discussing obviously making you more of a rivet head. It's just that we didn't really have a double clever little punny sarcastic title for that.
The interwebs took me under their wing, haha! Thank you
Good vid for the Newbies mate!
My first exposure to Goth, Industrial and Electronic music was all from movie soundtracks from flicks I saw when I was a teenager. Mortal Kombat, Natural Born Killers, Hackers, Strange Days, Lost Highway and if course the Crow are what got me started. Interesting factoid, Cevin Key and Dwayne were friends with Brandon Lee and a Download song was supposed to appear on the soundtrack but ended up on the cutting room floor. The song is on Download's pivotal album Eyes of Stanley Pain and it is called The Outafter. You can also read the dedication to Brandon Lee in the liner notes
If I ever made Hollywood movies or TV stuff, I’d push for that music to be the soundtrack. So many good soundtracks in that era… even for crappy movies!
I like the consumerism-channel undertone you put into it xD
Great video, man!
I remember in college one of my friends knew the late night DJ at our college radio station. He did "Nine o' Clock Nails" during his shift, and while NIN was playing, he introduced me to Front Line Assembly. From there, I discovered Skinny Puppy and Wumpscut. I didn't get into Ministry until much later in life, but their early stuff is probably my favorite now.
Great list! I'm just starting to expand my taste beyond "starter pack" playlists and the more well-known bands (i.e. skinny puppy, ministry, nin, throbbing gristle, front line assembly, etc.) and this was a really good resource for me. Surprised you didn't mention SPK though. The first time I heard "Slogan," I almost blew my goddamn head off, it sounded like pure energy, pure electricity. 10/10 would recommend listening to Auto Dá Fe, it'll blow your mind
Had to pick and choose with some bands to keep the length from getting out of hand :) but glad you like it!
Thanks for your review... I shall explore
Instant LIKE when I see Tactical Neural Implant on the thumbnail!!!
Got that on vinyl yesterday :D thank you!
Envy!!! FLA is my favourite band and I love everything they have done. I'm so glad you mentioned Caustic Grip too, Hardwired is my favourite album by them! I have to say this is the video that I have been waiting for! Great introduction to all the different Industrial bands, I guess if one could dig in to Throbbing Gristle or Skinny Puppy, they probably could listen to the rest! Cubanate's Barbarossa is a great album, you should check it out if you haven't. Oh yea...Calling ov the Dead is one sick album!!! Cheers! :)
I'll check it out. And yeah, I got into them a month ago by putting their 90s CDs on hold at the library (those were the only ones available). Loved TNI so much that I got the vinyl, friggin rare though. Hard Wired is probably next on the vinyl list. TNI reminds me so much of the Earthworm Jim (Genesis) soundtrack, and I played that religiously as a kid, so the whole time I'm thinking of clubbing AND beating the crap out of Peter Puppy. Lol.
Dude, thought you'd like to know that if you were to look on FLA's Official Fan Page on Facebook, when you click the "Like" section, Bill Leeb himself liked the video. :D :D I'm in such a good mood right now.
Hey, I saw that too! When I saw that thumbnail pic again and I thought it was you. :D
thank you
I've been trying to get into industrial but didn't know where to start.
I tried out Throbbing Gristle's DOA recently, and frankly, I love it!
Three songs most come to mind and are very memorable.
First, I.B.M. was weird and creepy, 70s and 80s computers made some pretty weird sounds so it really deserves this description.
Second, Weeping felt like a view into the mind of a someone who was broken. Depressed, desperate, paranoid, and scared, the lyrics have a singsong rambling feel to them, like a desperate and terrified coping mechanism.
Third and finally, Hamburger Lady could be described in two words as nightmare inducing. The combination of the unsettling lyrics and the dark and creepy effects used in the song make it feel like, well, you know what, just listen to the song while lying in bed in the middle of the night like I did the first time, you'll see what I'm talking about.
Overall, like Killbot said, this album really defines what industrial is. And, just like the industrial genre itself, I love it :)
BTW I'd like to recommend Circle of Dust, It's an Industrial metal band inspired by the likes of Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Ministry and the like. Each album has its own style, but for metalheads, I'd recommend Brainchild, It's got some heavy guitar combined with danceable electronic rhythms, as well as some dark voice samples littered throughout the album. Overall Circle of Dust is a an absolute thrill-ride to listen to. Not to mention that, in most cases, it's all made by one guy, Klayton, who many know from his later project Celldweller. But anyway, IMO I think that COD stands as one of the greats of 90s industrial, and is severely underrated.
Awesome video man!
Nice job on Godflesh👌
Man, I'm listening to industrial since... ages, like I was 17 or something and I never thought someone can show me too much new about it. BUT Revolting Cocks?! How I never heard about them?! Also, I was looking for a song I heard somewhere many years ago and now you just showed me that it was Burn form Sister Machine Gun!
Thank you!!!!!! :D
I always loved Atari Teenage Riot
Same. Their entire discography is so damn good it's hard to pick a fave.
Honestly i think they are great but i only like a few songs. Republica also another one of those bands in that Era where they only made like 2 good songs.
Holy shit I never heard Portion Control! Dude that sounds so amazing
My teenage soundtrack in less than 14min.
Now I can just send people the link to this great video instead of boring them for three hours trying to explain everything
I'm so glad this video exists
You did a good job on this and I shared it to my FB timeline....still waiting on ur epic breakdown of the brilliant Ministry album Animositisomina....which I feel is now a cult classic right next to Dark side of spoon and Filth Pig
I was there, man!!!!! I've got most of these CDs! .....saw most of them live too. FLA was my fav show, "caustic gripe" tour
This video is amazing. I would also recommend 16Volt, Filter, Killing Joke, Download, Gravity Kills, and Ohgr's solo work (Skinny Puppy)
Industrial music is pretty much my LIFE :D eheheheh ❤ ❤ ❤
true
1's u get into this muzik u won't like other. It will even change your mind and your lifestyle. Don't get lost with other genres, stick to Industrial. I had that experience. Congratulations with your journey.
great video, thanks, I needed this info.
If I could get a tour like this for every genre of music, that'd be great
Awesome video. I did it backwards, listening to Skinny Puppy for over 10 years desensitized me enough to finally watch all those horror movies.
I'm just happy you mentioned Neubauten TBH
I can’t believe you didn’t mention The Fragile! Considering how big of a NIN fan you are. Definitely my favorite album of theirs
Love the way you pronounce 'Einstürzende Neubauten'.
My first real exposure to industrial was when looking around a Great Escape with my dad and he spotted a KE*A*H** cd. He got it and we listened to it in the car on the way home.
Other music I'd suggest to check out (other genre being fused with industrial):
Current 93 - All The Pretty Little Horses (Folk)
Death In June - Nada! (Post-Punk/Goth/Folk)
Death In June - Operation Hummingbird (Military/Folk)
Die Form - Suspiria De Profundis ( Neoclassical Dark-Wave)
Die Form - Extremum/XX (Neoclassical Dark-Wave)
Fear Factory - Demanufacture (Metal)
Fear Factory - Obsolete (Metal)
Scraping Foetus Off the Wheel - Hole
Foetus - Flow
Laibach - NATO (EBM)
Laibach - Jesus Christ Superstars (Metal/Electronic Rock/Neoclassical Dark-Wave)
Lard - The Last Temptation of Reid (Rock/Hardcore Punk)
NON - God & Beast (Noise/Experimental)
Nurse With Wound - Rock 'n Roll Station (Sound Collage)
Nurse With Wound - Who Can I Turn To Stereo
ohGr - SunnyPsyOp (Electronic)
ohGr - Devils in my Details (Electronic/Rock)
Tack>>head - Friendly As A Hand Grenade (Funk)
VNV Nation - Empire (Futurepop/Electronic)
VNV Nation - Matter + Form (Futurepop/Elecltonic/Electropop)
:Wumpscut: - Music For A Slaughtering Tribe (Electronic)
:Wumpscut: - Boeses Junges Fleisch (EBM/Electronic)
Don't forget Ohgr's project Rx with the album "Bedside Toxicology"
I love everything you listed here! I really love Nurse With Wound and Current 83 and of course OhGr.
Honestly, I'd recommend listening to Circle of Dust (Brainchild & Self-Titled & Machines of Our Disgrace) as an introduction album for Industrial Metal.
Nitzer Ebb is Industrial Music for working out or dancing :)
good job man, spread the culture
I'd recommend some more noise/experimental stuff if you're interested in it:
Ramleh - Hole in the Heart
Final (Justin Broadrick industrial/ambient solo project)
P.H.O.B.O.S. - Modern Industrial Metal
Atrax Morgue - Italian experimental project
Bizarre Uproar - Noise/Power electronics stuff-os
Malformed Earthborn - Supergroup, gritty stuff.
Puissance - Martial Industrial
SPK - Old school industrial
Nurse with wound - Creepy ambient stuff and associated with the likes of Current 93 and Death in June.
Cop Shoot Cop - Noise rock with industrial elements, really nice and underrated band.
Cows - Taint Pluribus Unum - killer album, not industrial though.
Just a few ones, you may know'em already haha, just wanted to share them if you don't.
I'm really glad I found your channel, wish you had more views, I love Skinny Puppy and Dystopia too!
Awesome video!
I started out with industrial and goth before extreme metal so it's nice to see it acknowledged. You're also the only person I've ever seen who has farstucker.
I also have it on vinyl
Great video and channel, its fun to geek out on all the crossbreeding that occurred. Another great introduction to industrial at it's peak is the Wax Trax, Black Box. For more dance oriented late 90s early otts check out Metropolis Records Compilations they used to release one per year. Finally considering the generation gap you have an excellent grasp on a wonderful, somewhat obscure genre.
My introduction to industrial was NIN pretty hate machine, great album! Of course once I heard it I had to know where this all cane from which led me to skinny Puppy last right in 1992, when I was 12. I instantly fell in love with Skinny puppy and bought everything they put out. Skinny Puppy to me is the pinnacle to industrial music, they do it all, CEvin Key is the synth master!!!
Yes if I had to put a single band at the top of my list it would no doubt be Skinny Puppy. I became friends with them many many years ago and have been fortunate enough to hangout with them many times. I blazed cEvin Key and Dre Robinson out after a show once with some OG Kush I grew and it was a great time. That's what is really cool about many of these bands is how easy it is to connect personally with the members of the bands. I can't even count how many times I've been able to hangout with Edward Kaspel of The Legendary Pink Dots.
I'm a huge fan of Front 242, Skinny Puppy, and Front Line Assembly but don't know enough about their origin nor how to explain to a friend why I think he should give them a shot as they're hard to get into first listen. This video does an amazing job with both. I think I'll give Throbbing Gristle a shot soon. :)
Awesome bands, I grew up with Revolting Cocks, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, and KMFDM plus the godly industrial band of them all, Nine Inch Nails
