Another fantastic bread recipe made from buckwheat Jill. Even though I don't need to be gluten free it's still good to try this recipe for variety in my diet because eating wheat bread can get boring. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Jill.
Off to the store to pick up some buckwheat flour - and I think I'll try and add some of the cinnamon mixture to the middle of the loaf, pour in the rest of the buckwheat batter, then top with the remaining cinnamon mixture and then do my swirly on the top.
Lovely recipe. I might ad a swirl of cashew cream sweetened with dates or maple syrup through it and on top. Maybe add 1/2 batter, pour on lines of cream and use butter knife to infuse into the bottom layer of batter and do same after pouring on the rest.
Hi Jill I'm a new to your show.I really enjoy watching the videos. I'm definitely going to make this buckwheat cinnamon raisin bread . Wish me luck! Thanks for uploading sugar free and gluten free recipes.
I made the bread this morning. It didn't rise much but is spongy. I added chopped walnuts and black sesame seeds to the dry flour, then mix with the wet ingredients. Just that simple as Jill has demonstrated. Baked for 1 hour, my delicious and healthy bread. 🎉❤
Just made this and thought it's moistness would lend itself well to a gingerbread variation...I might try that sometime soon! Nice as it is of course, thanks!
Buckwheat is a new flavor to me. It's a hearty bread and I enjoyed it every day until the last crumb was eaten - by me! How wonderful to know that healthy food can taste soooo delicious! We LOVE you Jill!!!!
I was thinking the same thing-at least put some in the middle instead of all on top-but otherwise this looks amazing and would be quickly consumed at my house!
Love your recipes! Recently we've had your Leek and potato quiche, chocolate oat bars, magic cookies and black bean burgers! Thank you for expanding our whole food meal ideas. x
I’ve been watching your videos for about a week now and am addicted. I decided take a break and go watch the Better Life Summits- The Truth About Weight Loss as I purchased it and haven’t watched any of it yet. Well, what would you know......Day one and it’s you and your husband!! I was so happy to see your session and loved the demonstration at the end. The second I saw it was you both, I went to Amazon and bought your cookbook that I had in my cart. I’ll get it tomorrow and am so looking forward to seeing the recipes. I quit eating meat years ago but have still had eggs and cheese at times. I’m ready to give those up now thanks to your recipes. Thank you for what you do!!
Great recipe; thanks! I will look into buckwheat; I have not been using it. One way to get the swirl into the body of the bread is to put half the batter in the pan, add and swirl some topping, then add the other half of the batter and add topping and swirl again. Looks delish! BTW, can I buy whole buckwheat and grind in my home grinder? Thanks!
maybe add 1/2 the batter, put 1/2 of the yummy stuff and then add rest of the batter and then finish off with the last half of the yummy stuff. Then all of the goodness gets all through the bread.!! just my thoughts!! can’t wait to try this recipe
This looks beautiful and I’ll try it today! What do think about taking the cinnamon mixture and putting it on only half the bread mixture, swirling it, and then gently spread remaining bread mixture over top?
I love this show. It's my understanding that buckwheat is not a grain but a seed . There are kernels that are just like grains but not an actual grain.
...just can't get enough of your absolutely wonderful vids....just an interesting observation....when I Google, it cones up that buckwheat is not a grain, but a seed... God Bless... :)
To incorporate more of the marbling, could you add half the buckwheat mix, then the topping, then remaining buckwheat, rest of topping..then cut it all in??
I use this recipe to make the regular buckwheat bread that you have a video about. I want to make banana buckwheat bread anyone know if I need to adjust some of the ingredients in the original recipe because of adding bananas??
2 cups of teff flour was ~250 g and it didn’t seem to soak up enough liquid so I added 20g (1/4 cup) whole psyllium husk. I also subbed 1/2 the milk to water and didn’t add the streusel (I don’t tolerate dates, unfortunately)- instead I put ground cinnamon and maple extract directly in the batter. It’s DELICIOUS! Thank you, Jill!!
It sounded so good that I started making it before I had even finished watching the video. Can't wait for it to cook and cool! Ok, it's a couple of hours later, and it's delicious, but falls apart a lot when sliced. I can't figure out why. The only difference is that I used a non stick loaf pan rather than silicone, and where I am I have to convert baking powder to 1/3 baking soda and 2/3 cream of tartar. Could this have made the difference?
Your second step to soak the buckwheat for 4-6 hours is fermenting and I heard that during fermentation to use a ceramic or glass container and not a metal container.
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow Thank you so much for replying,it makes me happy In fact I'm a patient of ulcerative colitis i m usig plant based diet so i asked you about yeast.. I try your recpies its good for me.
Here's an idea to try when adding the cinnamon...put half the bread batter in, put half the cinnamon in, put the rest of the bread batter in, then top with the remaining cinnamon. Swirling after that should help it swirl better.
Do you have any suggestions on if using a glass loaf pan, what to do so the bread doesn't stick to it when taking it out of the pan? I don't have a silicon. I also have dried currants, would that work to instead of raisins?
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow Thank you, I just finished making the bread and my daughter had it for breakfast and she loved it, so did my husband :-)
Jill, you have got to try the Trudeau Structure Loaf Pan Silicone Bakeware ... it's just like your Muffin pan that you enjoy so much and made by the same company too.
I wonder if you put half the batter in the pan, add a line of cinnamon "paste" and swirl it in... then add the rest of the batter and paste and swirl the top half?!?
Hi Jill, just discovered your channel after your lentil bread video appeared as a thumbnail when searching for gluten free vegan bread. I have since made this bread and I love it. So thank you very much. The only trouble I had was that my flatbread kept sticking to my non stick pan. Now since searching for a replacement pan on amazon and reading reviews I have discovered that there is no such thing as a non stick pan as they all lose their non stick capability over time. Have you found this to be true?
Unfortunately I have experienced the same thing too Steve, since making this video and no longer have a nonstick pan 😏. I miss having these flatbreads. Still trying to figure out an alternative.

Take some date paste and put pumpkin pie spice into it and it tastes like apple butter! Also there is a recipe for oil free vegan butter that is such an odd combo of ingredients but you must try it! It tastes like butter and is guilt free! It’s amazing on corn on the cob!

Yum, I'm all over this. May I suggest layering the bread batter with the cinnamon mixture. That way cinnamon would be more throughout the bread.

Soy sauce or tamari or salt if you aren’t salt free

Sorry, not really sure. I don’t have any experience with cream if tartar. Ours crumbles a bit too where the cinnamon date mixture is.

Where does one find buckwheat flour? Would oat flour work?
This recipe looks scrumptious!!

Can the liquid aminos be skipped? I don't do any salt at all.
Liquid amino does not list salt in the ingredients. So what make it salty? Investigate , friends.
yes, you can omit the liquid aminos
