No singer, and there are many technically proficient ones, stand in your shadow Dolores. I met Sean , Pat Coyne and Fergus in Pittsburgh last night. You both share a gift God given because no one on Earth could ever "Teach" either of ye to sing the way you do.Go neiri leat go deo!
I have been trying to find this song for many years just got part of it on tape and didnt know the singer - It's the best version of Galway Bay ever recorded - Dolores Keane is a beautiful singer she is what makes Irish music Irish.
As I drove to my father's house in Penarth near Cardiff on the 31 of October 1988 I was listening to this great but heart breaking lament. At about 9 o'clock that evening I was with my mother as we watched him breathe his last. I can never hear this song again without reliving that Monday night so long ago.
the amount of joy this woman brought to Irish .born to sing and did she give it service on the road .gave her life to entertain people singing all our old songs ...
On that terrible day on Monday 31 October 1988 when my father, Stephen Tobin (born Cregg, near Rosscarbery in July 1913) lay dying of cancer I was driving to his home in Penarth, near Cardiff. I was listening to this song on a cassette player. It added to my terrible sense of an impending final tragedy. My dad died just after nine o'clock that evening.
I have been looking for the face to go with this song for a long time. I Love this Song so much, and now that i see you i love the song that much more : and you are a great voice..wish i could actually meet you.. keep singing !!!!!!
I can't listen to the song, the words, or Delores enough. I love your voice young lady. Always and forever.
Beautiful song. Reminds me of six fantastic years I lived in Galway and looked out on the bay each day.
