On that terrible day on Monday 31 October 1988 when my father, Stephen Tobin (born Cregg, near Rosscarbery in July 1913) lay dying of cancer I was driving to his home in Penarth, near Cardiff. I was listening to this song on a cassette player. It added to my terrible sense of an impending final tragedy. My dad died just after nine o'clock that evening.
I have been trying to find this song for many years just got part of it on tape and didnt know the singer - It's the best version of Galway Bay ever recorded - Dolores Keane is a beautiful singer she is what makes Irish music Irish.
