Two renowned singers praying for peace on our planet
Makes me imagine what it may have been Like when Irish immigrants settled in Appalachia. Love both Ladies & what they contributed to music.
"""Beautiful Lyrics. This awful feeling the hard times are back and started to linger around my cabin door . Only God can save IRELAND now. Thank you CR'S---V.V. Have a Blessed Sunday .🙏🙏🙏🙏🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
The dark ages are before us,I'm sorry to say.
@@russianbot1420 """I'm forever trying to be Optimistic-- that somewhere - somehow- sometime - they'll be a CHANGE- but- what my Heart tells me and what my eyes see's are in battle with each other.""----God Bless You R.B...🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This is such a beautiful piece of music!..But I'm curious about ur comment 'Only God can save Ireland now'?.Could u expand!
Yea feels like it’s back. So let’s channel our ancestors and recover our dignity. Learn about real life again. We havent lost it it’s still in us.
I know what you're saying but it's not just Ireland that God can save now. I've spent most of my life away from Ireland and I can assure you that the whole of Western Civilization is in trouble.Thank God for songs and singers like Mary Black and Delores Keane ,they make life a little better when I listen to them. There is also a UA-cam video with both of them singing with Emmy Lou Harris,if you haven't watched it before you should because I think you'd love it !
All the best to you from the USA 💚✝️
Great Voices 👍👍👍
Black Forest (Germany) 🇩🇪 greets Ireland 🇮🇪. Stay healthy.
I’d love to visit looks beautiful in pictures.
This so g adapts beautifully to Irish instrumentation
I love “Sonny” done with Mary Black , Dolores Keane and Emmylou Harris it’s one of the best ❤️
I was fortunate enough to attend Austin City Limits “songwriter’s circle” featuring Emmylou Harris, Patti Griffin, Bud and Julie Miller, Dave Matthews, and a brief appearance by Mary Black. What an amazing night!
Beautifull. Hauntingly beautifull.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Makes me cry
Very nice, girls. I was born and grew up in Pittsburgh, as Stephen Foster did. In grade school, the 1950's, our music teacher, Miss Frank loved Foster and played his songs on the piano. We would sing along. Foster was very special.
One of my absolute favourite songs of all time. Of any genre. When you consider the death rate and poverty at the time Foster wrote this song it takes on a profoundly more moving impact. It’s no coincidence that this “sounds Irish”- Foster’s heritage (and musical heritage) was from Ulster.
I first heard this on the TV program Bringing It All Back Home. They performed it in New York with Afro-American musicians. It blew me away!
Two legends amazing voices just beautiful 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️❤️❤️
Well done guys! You have the correct harmony for the word "weary", most performances miss it.
what glorious voices ! a wonderful arrangement of the SC Foster classic
Great irish voices 👍
Use to listen to this song in the 90's glad to have found it again
Two wonderful singers Delores keane an mary black
The quieter Dolores sings, the more I can hear her.
Two Brilliant singers
The late Eighties and early Nineties-when Mary Black was at the very peak of physical beauty. I’m still spellbound by her looks then. Those eyes! I realize this isn’t related to music, but hey, I’m human.
But yes, both singers are spectacular.
Can relate to that iwas born 1960 ,80to90 young and wild
Oh Mary...what a voice!
What an absolutely grand performance. Thank you all.
Absolute classic..
Beautiful rendition of the old song. Thanks for posting this! Love it, from Tennessee, USA!
It is indeed a beautiful version. I actually like most versions out there, including one by the late Tom Roush, who sang many of Stephen Foster’s songs so well. RIP Tom.
Two legends amazing voices so wonderful well done ❤❤
Harmony that can only come from Heaven
Powerful performance. Learn the words. It's a sigh that is wafted across the trouble waves. It's a wail that's heard upon the shore.
So powerful. Fantastic.
One of my favorite De Dannan songs by 2 of my favorite singers. If anyone didnt know Frankie Gavin is suffering from throat cancer, there's a crowdfund appeal going to raise money for a special op.
With the sublime help of God
Wonderful!
wow, Mary Black was really gorgeous.
Keane also gorgeous!
The definitive versions of this classic are both the album and "live" recordings of Mary, Dolores and DeDanannn, as illustrated here.
They're both tremendous Singers&this was a good version...But the first time I heard this was on a 'Live Radio' 'The Prairie Home companion's(A show which would perform in Minneapolis one week&in another State the following week) and this they were NYC and the brilliant Soprano Renee Fleming sang it& it was Breathtaking!
🎉 Thank you, you have made my day 😍🤗🤗
De Danann at their best 👏
The Band "The Brandos" (Canada) performed this song also very well.
Mary Black is making a balls of it
Is that a good or bad thing? Not sure the what you are expressing.. xo
Bad, it means making a mess of it
Have to agree. Trying to outsing Dolores!
Love Dolores only
Me too
Love Dolores Mary should have put her sister in this video her voice was a bit weak
I think 'Catherine' Lavelle should read Caroline, very well-known cellist who worked with Mary on the No Frontiers album and later with the Indigo Girls on their 2000 tour.
Oh Delores wonderful 😂
This is a lovely Irish ballad dedicated to those men who suffer from erectile disfunction.
Voices are a bit harsh. Must be my speakers. Thumbs up!
Dolores just singing the song....
Beautiful solos. Harmonies are pretty rough.
La voce di Dolores è quella più simile a quella di Sandy, e per questo l’amo più delle altre
Beautiful rendition listen to Dolores singing Lily Marlene
How did the great delores hold her composure singing so powerfully & beautifully to the shrieking, trying to outsing Delores. Mary Black destroyed the beauty of Delores's singing. Never put these two together.Masry Black is a very attractive woman & maybe when singing solo she calms down & stops trying to be into competitive singing. Delores is a class onto herself. Bravo!!
Mary Black is the absolute best singer in Ireland.
I have heard them do this lovely song much better than this particular rendition. Sorry.
I wish Mary Black stayed out of this one .
Why?
100%. Just shouting out the lyrics!
Mary is like a cat crying she cannot sing.
Prefer the version sung by Tommy Fleming
Bit forced by Mary I think
Yep I thought the same, Dolores sings it effortlessly. what a singer
Should only be Dolores singing.
Why?
She’s known hard times.
Mary Black ruined this song for me. Dolores Keane could have delivered this song herself. Too much harsh forced singing IMi
Very first verse she lost Foster's lyrics. LORD I would like to hear someone sing the song as written by Foster/. It is not that hard...You can Google the lyrics you know. Another crap version...sadly by otherwise good musicians.
dire
must be painful to sing
