Kristi Hirst is the Chief Operating Officer, from Our Schools USA. Our Schools USA is dedicated to advancing quality public education for all students, was formed a year ago with the goal to “make school board meetings boring again.”

"How much of a threat are organisations like Moms(Mums) For Liberty on secular education in America?" On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 = benign, 10 = severe threat. I rate them(as an outside viewer living in Australia but being fully aware of them) as *50!* Five-fold worse as a threat than the scale 1-to-10 would suggest.
This is happening in Alpine School District. Someone has wrangled a ton of power from the board.
What state is that? Also California?
We have a woman like that Shaw person where I'm from. Obsessed with what books are being used, and what lessons are being taught at MY kids school, that her kids don't even attend 🤦♂️

every public prayer is political speech. how could it be otherwise if someone is expressing beliefs that those around them are hearing and may in fact disagree with. as for christians specifically, praying in public is acting counter to their own scriptures (Matthew 6:5-8)

Shaw, Cruz and Na-especially Shaw-are the opposite.
When Cruz won his first term, I figured that Texas voters simply didn't know who he was. They just checked the (R) on the ballot in the black President backlash. When they re-elected Cruz, then I knew Texas voters were hopeless F-ups who would vote party first even though the candidate was unanimously hated.

I'm a professional athlete that's been playing my favorite sport for a living for 20 years :) when I retire in a few years i plan to go to college to get a just for fun humanities degree like womens studies and philosophy.

If I don't want Jesus in the classroom converting all of our children then I also want the federal Department of Education to be superpowered to do whatever they want to do. So I either agree with Jesus and his followers OR I side with the Department of Education on everything. This is a false breakup of reality. Do you pay taxes? If yes, you too, are a "taxpayer!"
Perhaps take some time and unlink the word from your negative feelings and assumptions. These connections are in YOUR head, which is something you CAN effectively influence (unlike the speech of others).
It would be better for all: you'd experience less cringy feelings and others would be able to accurately describe payers of taxes as "taxpayers."
