Yes, I liked it. He brought out much of what I hadn't heard before. I'll definitely be looking into more recordings of Lizt played by him. Thanks Lang Lang.
Gracias, Lang Lang!!
@@Pogouldangeliwitz Well, it's preference. I love Lang Lang's interpretation, and I believe a lot of people do not. Preference differs by person. I also admire Dinu Lipatti and Arturo MIchelangeli.
Lang Lang plays this concerto better than Yuja Wang for sure. I think his two chord slam at 15:15 should have been faster. This orchestra is quite good at accompanying. They play like a major orchestra. Anybody know its name? When was this video done? He looks handsome here.
There’s too much lang lang hatred going on. Shut the video off and listen carefully to the audio. Whether you prefer Cziffra or Richter is a matter of taste, but his virtuosity is amazing, AND there is a translucent clarity in his Liszt; every note is there and the legato pedal is getting a well deserved rest from its usual overuse!
Why is he called Bang Bang so often? I think a lot of it has to do with his much more conservative use of the legato pedal, which creates a much more percussive sound. Well, guess what: that’s exactly how it would have sounded on a 19th century piano played by Liszt. Quit slagging off Lang Lang and try to appreciate the virtuosity of his Liszt, which would have given the Hungarian maestro the warm fuzzies!
Never call it "concerto." It is indeed a rhapsody. It diverges from making an impact way too many times to only test listener's patience while it farts
Gracias y Chapeau M'sie Lang Lang, esposa y papá guoren!

For those asking, I believe this is a performance from January 2012 with the New York Philharmonic conducted by Long Yu.
TY

Made me cry master of piano jan
This deserves way more views.
Lipatti and Michelangeli deserve more views, not this tame clown...

Is that New York Philharmonic ?
Do you know, at least approximately, when and where this concert took place?
Tom's and Jerry 😂
His performance with BBC SO (2011.9.10) on BBC Prom is better than this one.
🌺👌🙏👍 thanks
There's more music in that clarinettist's solo at 2:04 than in Bang Bang's entire "performance".
he plays Lang Lang with some taste of Liszt´s... his playing is in many cases mannerism as he thinks, somebody would like.

Quite slow and not very inspired. I really love the 1st. Pianoconcert of Liszt, but I dont't like this interpretattion.
Slow the whole time then suddenly speeds right at the end with the octaves
e flat major EASY play

To stevehinnenkamp: One would have to do years of research in hopes of finding a comment as stupid as this.

Very correct affirmation!
The Interpretation and the technic is phantastic. That punching around and the stupid looking is a Katastrophe.
Warum?
I don't like Bang Bang at all, he is not my kind of pianist
Eine schwache Komposition von Liszt.
Are you crazy?
Soll ich dir eine kompostionsstunde erteilen?
Er Spielt mit wenig gefühl. Hat nichts mit List zu tuhn.
One of his worst performances
